Opinions de The Ranch House Sanderson
Stopped they on our way towards Austin. Food was amazing and our server Tiffany was great. All three kids were happily fed, my husband had the brisket and I had Meme’s green enchilada’s. It was fantastic!! We highly recommend eating here if you are passing through.
Great food. The brisket is perfect. The ambience is artistically and authentically decorated. The price is very reasonable. The waitress/owner Tiffany is hospitable and her pistol is real. Definitely go back if in the area and highly recommend.
Passing through on the way to Big Bend, from near Corpus Christi. My husband ordered the red enchiladas & I got a BLT w/fries. Our friends we came with both ordered the 6 oz chicken fried steaks. We all enjoyed our food & the service was good.
My first time to eat here. I had the green chicken enchiladas and friend had flautas. Amazingly delicious. Big 32 oz sodas served with fresh baked chips and homemade salsa. Friendly staff and owners. Definitely a must try. Heard the chicken fried bacon is AWESOME but they were sold out.
My car broke down and the owner was gracious enough to let me borrow her car for a couple hours to be able arrange transportation. She could not have been a nicer person and restored my faith in humanity!! What a wonderful owner and I will definitely come back and visit! Oh, and the brisket sandwich was amazing!!
We really enjoyed our stop at this little cafe. Everything we ate was amazing- brisket hamburger and torta, cheese enchiladas, and orange pie. Tiffany was friendly, funny, and on point. I will definitely be back and I recommend it to any fellow traveler.
I had the Fried catfish, it was golden crispy and tender in the middle, not greasy at all!! Hubby had the pulled pork sandwich and was very pleased. Best part was the home-made banana pudding!!!! Absolute heaven!!!!
Really really enjoyed Meme's Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. Amazing flavor. Super kind folks that run this place. Wish I could go back again tomorrow, but I'm heading down the road. They are closed Monday & Tuesdays. So plan your trip carefully to ensure you get to enjoy a meal here. You will not be disappointed...
Stellar jalapeño gravy!! We shared the medium size chicken fried steak. It’s a tiny place with great food and friendly staff. I was too full for dessert, but it was so tempting!
We were here august of last year and STILL haven’t stopped talking about the meal we had. Cowboy burger and brisket sandwich—he had no complaints with his burger except that he wished he’d ordered the brisket torta!! Highly recommend
Not a quick stop but holy smoke the flavors will rock your world!!!!!! Buy the homemade salsa!!!!!
Decided to stop after reading some other reviews and let me say it did not dissapoint. We had a wait time of about an hour but it was VERY worth it! You do have to take into consideration it's a two-person service and therefore it will not be fast-food. Everything is freshly made to order and the quality says so. We ate the Fried Catfish and Hungry Cowboy Burger. Catfish was crispy and well seasoned, fries were so crispy as well! Coleslaw was really good, probably the best I've had. Hungry Cowboy burger has definetly became one of the best top three burgers I've ever ate. To finalize, we had the chocolate mud pie which was a hit as well 😍 If I am ever over at this area, will definitely make time to stop by again. The owner is a really nice lady, gifted me salt and pepper shakers after telling her how I loved that they have a variety and also enjoy collecting them.
Great service, friendly staff, delicious food. The brisket was moist and flavorful. The 3 chicken taco plate was enough for 1 adult and a small child. Dog friendly patio and a quirky fun place to break up the drive thru West Texas. Can't wait to stop back in next time we are in town to see how this place has evolved.
Great West Texas vibe to this food oasis in Sanderson. We were greeted by the owner Tiffany, who took great care of us checking on us regularly. Everything is prepared fresh, so except a ten to fifteen minute wait for the food, but it is well worth the wait. Sip on the homemade lemonade and take in the eclectic ambience of the restaurant. We were ultimately brought two of the best hamburgers we've ever had in our lives. The Ranch House is a must stop on your trip to Big Bend especially if you're entering through Marathon. We were so hungry and the food so surprisingly delicious that we forgot to take a picture until we were halfway through our meal. This is a our new go-to stop for our next trip to the Chisos Mountain region. We ordered the Brisket Cheeseburger and the Hungry Cowboy. Amazing!
This time, we went for the rib eye special, and boy, am I glad we did! Perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. We only have one restaurant in our tiny town, but we are blessed beyond reason that it is so good. Thank you, Tiffany and Frankie.
Great restaurant ! The fried catfish was delicious. I had the peanut butter pie , made by the owner. It was awesome. The owner and our waitress was so sweet. Would definitely go back next time I take a trip to Texas. 😉
After going to Big Bend, husband and I stopped here on our way out of town for dinner. I ordered ribs and my husband ordered the hungry cowboy. For a small town and understated place, our food exceeded expectations and then some. I think a little more smiling and warmth from the waitress could go a long way in making this place shine but overall I would give it a strong 5!
This is a lovely restaurant. I highly recommend it. Am passing through the area and needed some dinner. It feels like eating at home. That wonderful, comfortable feeling. I had the brisket and it was delicious.
Awesome! This is a must stop if you are in the area. The food and service were outstanding! I was totally surprised. We were in the area for work. A co-worker said his father ate here many years ago and recommend the Chicken Fried Stake. I was skeptical of a restaurant in a town of less than 700. I was wrong. Most things are made from scratch and so good! I ordered the Brisket Torta. It was amazing! My two co-workers got the Chicken Fried Stakes, but with different gravy. Everyone's plate were cleaned of all food. I don't normally eat dessert, but I did here. I had the banana pudding. It was amazing! My co-workers but got the blueberry cobbler and said it was incredible. The prices are decent. There is a small credit card fee, so bring cash if you don't want to pay the small fee.
Beautiful, we'll curated dining room. Nice gift shop/ boutique. This is my new favorite stop! Excellent food.
We stopped for the night at the RV Park down the road after getting propane. The woman filling our propane raved about the food here, and she was right. My husband had the cheeseburger and fries, which were both tasty. He also helped finish my salad, which is unusual because he's not big on salad. He was impressed. I had the brisket with Mexican rice and a side salad. The brisket melts in your mouth. The salad was fresh, with a nice variety of ingredients and just the right amount of dressing. The rice was flavorful. Needless to say, I have leftovers. We definitely recommend you stop here.
The food here is always delicious and well worth the drive from Alpine. Their Jalapeño Popper burger is one of my favorite burgers I’ve ever had.
Great spot for a really good meal. I chose to have the chicken fried steak with the red pepper gravy after reading the reviews. French fries were great as well. The chicken fried steak and fries were seasoned with their own special spices. My father had pork chops, which I had to try. They were moist and perfectly seasoned. The option was fried or grilled, he chose the grilled option but is like to try the fried next time. The coleslaw was freshly made and the salad had crisp veggies. It was all delicious and I highly recommend.
Stopped in for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The brisket torta was excellent, and the banana pudding made the meal complete. Great service. I definitely recommend stopping in while in Sanderson.
Their signature burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had. They use brisket for the patty. Perfectly cooked. Perfectly juicy. Every component shines brightly without out shining anything else. Near perfection.
Very rustic building with a western vibe. Great food selection for being in such a remote location. I had the brisket torta and the wife had a veggie torta. The ciabatta buns were the perfect combination of soft and crunchy. The brisket had a good smoky flavor. They were out of pies, but the banana pudding worked just fine!
This was my second time here. Chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had. Last time tried the jalapeno gravy, this time the smoked red pepper flakes gravy was out of this world. Of course the hand cut fries won me over. We also had the grilled pork chops! Did not disappoint. We even bought the seasoning to try out at home. Definitely, a hidden gem .
Great stop about halfway between Del Rio and Big Bend. Recommend the chicken fried steak with roasted red pepper gravy; brisket torta was very flavorful too. Chocolate cake with PB & marsh for dessert went down easy.
Driven by here many times on our drives to Big Bend area, this is the first time we decided to stop. Since it was Sunday and they make their burgers fresh from the briskets that they use, they were out of burgers, which is what we were hoping for since we had heard how great they were. So we had to settle for BLT, Chicken Fried Steak, and the Brisket Torta. My BLT was awesome, the thick bacon, thick toast, fresh veggies, how something so simple can be so amazing to my taste buds ill never understand. the fries have their homemade spice blend on them (which they sell), were great. The chicken Fried steak, I was told because he didn't share, was the best during the trip. the recommended Brisket Tortas were very tasty and the boys were happy they had them. This place is worth the stop, we will try again for burgers.
Great Food. Good Service. Small place. Owner believes in Open Carry and carries a 380 ... so folks who don't respect that shouldn't stop by. Had Chicken Fried Steak, Chalupas and Catfish, home made lemonade, orange pie and apple cobbler. All really good food.
Good food, ribs were amazing. Exceptional deserts. Opens for lunch and dinner only. Staff very friendly. Restroom was clean. Excellent place to take a road trip break. Highly recommended!
Our family of 4 ate here leaving Big Bend. Great food and service. Full service sit down restaurant. Lots of seating options. Cute little gift shop attached at front. Clean restroom. Ordered: Burger. Brisket torta. Kids burger and grilled cheese.
This place has a good parking area for trucks. I had the Gumbo here, it had the most meat in a Gumbo that I have ever had plus they give up a small cup of rice to go with it. If I could give the Gumbo 10 Stars I would. You will not be disappointed if you have some here.
Salad was extremely good and fresh. Chicken fried steak was out of this world they know how to get a real piece of beef then have it tenderized to perfection. Take a look at me pictures.
Great little stop, good food and fun decor. I’m glad we picked this place while passing through.

Great stop on highway 90 great food great people. Chicken fried steak is my go to but everything is good.
What a welcome diner on lonesome US 90. As advertised, it's not fast food, but was well worth the wait. Both mu wife and I were quite pleased/
The hamburgers are amazing!! I wish I lived closer just so I could try everything else on the menu!
Not a quick stop but holy smoke the flavors will rock your world!!!!!! Buy the homemade salsa!!!!!

Delicious chicken enchiladas, rice, and beans. Took off a star due to no free glass of water, but since this is desert maybe is justified. Yes waitress wearing gun, never pulled it out of holster while we were there so I guess it's all right.
I agree with everyone’s reviews here that the food is really tasty and fresh. Exceeded expectations in both dishes which were the green Chile enchiladas and the burger. I’m taking one star off because we couldn’t choose the 3 top table that was in a better spot (restaurant was fairly empty) and were not able to review the check before paying. They also do not serve tap water, which is fine but I would have appreciated a heads up when we ordered water.
On a trip to Big Bend on 4-20. We stopped here to eat. They were busy. The waitress informed 8 of us on bikes, that she was not taking orders for at least an hour. So we had to drive to Alpine to eat a very late lunch. Was not very accommodating. We have crossed it off the list for any future stops.
The staff was extremely rude. The waitress cussed at my family and I, and humiliated us in front of everyone. When l asked for the receipt the waitress threw it in my face. It was literally the worse experience ever at a restaurant. You’re truly better off eating from the gas station compared to here.
The Pictures do not match the restaurant, it don't have that old skool feeling as the pictures show, the restaurant is very small the food is 4/10 it's not bad or good it's okay . The waitress didn't check up on us at all after ordering our meals, I just had a bad experience • Q the ranch house
I see this place has good reviews lol well my experience today was so horrible, I stop by to get a fried fish platter, now mind you the restaurant close @7pm I made it to the restaurant @6:20pm for a takeout order, so l get into the restaurant & I'm patiently waiting to order my food the chubby lady came out & told me that they aren't taking no orders , after I been waiting for 5-10mins to order my food, & I told her you guys close @7 & she get a attitude with me & tell me to leave because I told her you "Are you Serious" she makes "The Ranch House" look bad You just lied & said I got there @6:46 check your cameras, maybe if you worked out more you can get around the restaurant faster & take customers orders
I would highly suggest skipping this place. I stopped here Friday night around closing time hoping to get a takeout burger after a long drive from Tucson and was told by the waitress at the front counter that the only thing she could do was a chicken salad sandwich and a bag of chips- which hungry as I was- I said yes please. But when I got back to my room at the Desert Air Motel and lifted up the top slice of bread I found a bunch of pills mixed in with the chicken salad! And it scared the heck out of me! So after paying $13 and even leaving a $2 tip all I got was a bag of chips. So I would not trust this place and if you do get something you better inspect it closely. And to the owner- your waitress with the black hair working last Friday should be arrested for doing something so heinous to a customer for no reason.
