OMG... I can't believe I've passed this place all these years. The service is outstanding and the food, we'll just say that I had too take a nap before I started back on the road. My new favorite place too grab a bite too eat.

Absolutely fantastic fried steak and hamburger! I had the hungry cowboy hamburger, if I recall the name correctly, it was huge with a lot of crispy bacon , cheese, mushroom, lettuce, tomato and I think that's all... highly recommend everyone driving by to give it a try.

My Austin based bachelor party had a great time, sitting on the porch here and enjoying an awesome burger and fries. This was a quintessential west Texas meal. Complete with a gun-toting, sassy, but friendly waitress! This was worth the detour on the way back from Big Bend!

The chicken fried chicken was the best I've had. And the jalapeno gravy, outstanding! Whoever came up with it was a genius. The staff were so friendly, treated me like old friends.

I was HANGRY when I arrived at the Ranch House and the place was packed with a German Harley Tour Group. The waitress/owner gave me a coke and recomended the enchilatas, rice & beans with diced onion. Not my choice but like i said I was HANGRY!! Holy cow!!! The food and service was absolutely perfect!! I even bought four t- shirts for souveneers. The entire staff was great. Thank you Ranch House!!

We came into town for the night to break up our long drive. There has been winter weather advisories so places were closing early. We pulled up to The Ranch House as they were closing. Literally getting into their cars, but the owner offered us food anyways. Highly recommend.

Yes it's quirky Texas, expect full on Texas as far as the owners but they are friendly and the food is good. The brisket burger was a true highlight. Would definitely go again.

Spending the night in Sanderson. Heard good things about the Ranchhouse so decided to give it a try. Felt welcome the moment I walked through the door. Small towns have way of doing that. Asked the friendliest waitress I have ever met what was good. She recommended chicken fried steak or brisket and said "and we also have ribeyes ". A patron helped me make up my mind. Said you won't find a better steak anywhere for the price (very reasonable). So I ordered it rare warm, my favorite if the cook can do it right. He did. To perfection. Delicious. The kind you hope you can duplicate at home. Great cut of meat. Great dining experience. Highly recommended.

We loved this eatery. Fantastic food, some great smoked brisket!!! Lots of homemade metal horseshoe works for sale. Very impressive! The waitresses are A#1....We are coming back here every chance we get.

Driving cross country stopped at this little gem! We were only halfway to California and I told the waitress this was the best burger I had had yet. Well, after finishing the journey I can confidently say its the best hamburger I had in 3000 miles. Juicy and delicious! Plus the cole slaw and fries were to die for. And the waitress was friendly and not in that phony California way. It may be a few miles off the beaten track (or off the I10) but, I guarantee it is worth a few extra miles. It is right on 90 which is really a nicer way to see real Texas!! Bon appétit!

I stopped at the Ranch House on my way to Marfa taking the scenic route from Austin. I had heard about this place and wanted to give it a try. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I was so full I wanted to take a nap afterwards. Sanderson certainly has a "wild west feel" to it. I'll definitely come back. I might even stay the night next time so I can eat here twice in one trip!

I have eaten at this restaraunt a few times on motorcycle trips in West Texas. I have to say, the food here is good. But more surprising than anything was that the waitress was, and always is, armed! I have never seen that before, but I thought it was a perfect fit for West Texas!

We had a nice burger and chips, very good quality. Restaurant has ambiance and is a good choice in Sanderson. Recommended.

Passing through on the way to Big Bend, from near Corpus Christi. My husband ordered the red enchiladas & I got a BLT w/fries. Our friends we came with both ordered the 6 oz chicken fried steaks. We all enjoyed our food & the service was good.

My first time to eat here. I had the green chicken enchiladas and friend had flautas. Amazingly delicious. Big 32 oz sodas served with fresh baked chips and homemade salsa. Friendly staff and owners. Definitely a must try. Heard the chicken fried bacon is AWESOME but they were sold out.

My car broke down and the owner was gracious enough to let me borrow her car for a couple hours to be able arrange transportation. She could not have been a nicer person and restored my faith in humanity!! What a wonderful owner and I will definitely come back and visit! Oh, and the brisket sandwich was amazing!!

I had the Fried catfish, it was golden crispy and tender in the middle, not greasy at all!! Hubby had the pulled pork sandwich and was very pleased. Best part was the home-made banana pudding!!!! Absolute heaven!!!!

Really really enjoyed Meme's Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. Amazing flavor. Super kind folks that run this place. Wish I could go back again tomorrow, but I'm heading down the road. Decided to stop after reading some other reviews and let me say it did not dissapoint. We had a wait time of about an hour but it was VERY worth it! You do have to take into consideration it's a two-person service and therefore it will not be fast-food. Everything is freshly made to order and the quality says so. We ate the Fried Catfish and Hungry Cowboy Burger. Catfish was crispy and well seasoned, fries were so crispy as well! Coleslaw was really good, probably the best I've had. Hungry Cowboy burger has definetly became one of the best top three burgers I've ever ate. To finalize, we had the chocolate mud pie which was a hit as well 😍 If I am ever over at this area, will definitely make time to stop by again. The owner is a really nice lady, gifted me salt and pepper shakers after telling her how I loved that they have a variety and also enjoy collecting them.

Dog friendly patio and a quirky fun place to break up the drive thru West Texas. Can't wait to stop back in next time we are in town to see how this place has evolved.

Great West Texas vibe to this food oasis in Sanderson. We were greeted by the owner Tiffany, who took great care of us checking on us regularly. Everything is prepared fresh, so except a ten to fifteen minute wait for the food, but it is well worth the wait. Sip on the homemade lemonade and take in the eclectic ambience of the restaurant. We were ultimately brought two of the best hamburgers we've ever had in our lives. The Ranch House is a must stop on your trip to Big Bend especially if you're entering through Marathon. We were so hungry and the food so surprisingly delicious that we forgot to take a picture until we were halfway through our meal. This is a our new go-to stop for our next trip to the Chisos Mountain region. We ordered the Brisket Cheeseburger and the Hungry Cowboy. Amazing!

This time, we went for the rib eye special, and boy, am I glad we did! Perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. We only have one restaurant in our tiny town, but we are blessed beyond reason that it is so good. Thank you, Tiffany and Frankie.

After going to Big Bend, husband and I stopped here on our way out of town for dinner. I ordered ribs and my husband ordered the hungry cowboy. For a small town and understated place, our food exceeded expectations and then some. I think a little more smiling and warmth from the waitress could go a long way in making this place shine but overall I would give it a strong 5!

My co-workers but got the blueberry cobbler and said it was incredible. The prices are decent. There is a small credit card fee, so bring cash if you don't want to pay the small fee.

My husband had the cheeseburger and fries, which were both tasty. He also helped finish my salad, which is unusual because he's not big on salad. He was impressed. I had the brisket with Mexican rice and a side salad. The brisket melts in your mouth. The salad was fresh, with a nice variety of ingredients and just the right amount of dressing. The rice was flavorful. Needless to say, I have leftovers. We definitely recommend you stop here.

So we had to settle for BLT, Chicken Fried Steak, and the Brisket Torta. My BLT was awesome, the thick bacon, thick toast, fresh veggies, how something so simple can be so amazing to my taste buds ill never understand. the fries have their homemade spice blend on them (which they sell), were great. The chicken Fried steak, I was told because he didn't share, was the best during the trip. the recommended Brisket Tortas were very tasty and the boys were happy they had them. This place is worth the stop, we will try again for burgers.

The Ranch House is a gem in the desert. I enjoyed the enchiladas and my granddaughter loved the humongous hamburger. The price is right too.

I agree with everyone’s reviews here that the food is really tasty and fresh. Exceeded expectations in both dishes which were the green Chile enchiladas and the burger. I’m taking one star off because we couldn’t choose the 3 top table that was in a better spot (restaurant was fairly empty) and were not able to review the check before paying. They also do not serve tap water, which is fine but I would have appreciated a heads up when we ordered water.

Had enchiladas Food was good Portion was that of a child's plate anywhere else. Was expensive but I guess I understand because it's the only thing around.

i cant understand the great reviews for a place that uses canned vegetables. Id hoped for home cooked comfort food and recieved something warmed up from a can. Mashed potatoes could double as dry wall filler. Like lumpy glue.

Thought we'd give a local place a try and now we're sorry we stopped! Waitress/owner was rude throughout the meal. When asked if I could have just cheese on my enchiladas, she said, "that's IMPOSSIBLE, can't do it w/o sauce!" So, when it came, it had sauce AND cheese....couldn't figure out what was the problem with my request. She acted as if our presence was a big imposition. Our tip to you is to skip this place; food was just O.K. and attitude was awful...I've now read other reviews that had the same experience. Not worth stopping here.

On a trip to Big Bend on 4-20. We stopped here to eat. They were busy. The waitress informed 8 of us on bikes, that she was not taking orders for at least an hour. So we had to drive to Alpine to eat a very late lunch. Was not very accommodating. We have crossed it off the list for any future stops.

No stars would be preferable, but not allowed here. Locally inept people. Oh yeah, I had visited for food. NOT good. LONG wait. This place has 4.5 stars? Not much to do with their time but promote themselves.

This place needs to learn how to read time clock or change ur dam hrs on sign..ya say close at 7 and 5.59 doors locked....time changed a few weeks back..so that means u got to change ur dam. Clocks too...

My wife and I purposely scheduled a stop in Sanderson, setup our RV at the local campground to eat at The Ranch House. I triple checked their open days and hours WEEKS before we headed out. Stopping at The Ranch House was our Sanderson planned event. We drove over and the place was CLOSED. There were employees inside but when we tried to get their attention they purposely ignored us. I know this place is in a small town. I know they keep irregular hours. But we checked everything to insure we had the right day and time. We are full time RVers and this was to be a big part of our west Texas blog. It’s extremely irritating and doesn’t leave us with a positive feel for Sanderson.

The food may be comfort, but the service sure isn't! Very rude and unwelcoming. I walked out, deciding I'd rather starve than swallow her insults!

We had the Brisket, it was dry, flavorless and tuff. The green beans were probably from a can and had been steaming for hours. We asked him mashed potatoes but got fries, however they were fresh and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff was extremely rude. The waitress cussed at my family and I, and humiliated us in front of everyone. When l asked for the receipt the waitress threw it in my face. I see this place has good reviews lol well my experience today was so horrible, I stop by to get a fried fish platter, now mind you the restaurant close @7pm I made it to the restaurant @6:20pm for a takeout order, so l get into the restaurant & I'm patiently waiting to order my food the chubby lady came out & told me that they aren't taking no orders , after I been waiting for 5-10mins to order my food, & I told her you guys close @7 & she get a attitude with me & tell me to leave because I told her you "Are you Serious" she makes "The Ranch House" look bad You just lied & said I got there @6:46 check your cameras, maybe if you worked out more you can get around the restaurant faster & take customers orders

I would highly suggest skipping this place. I stopped here Friday night around closing time hoping to get a takeout burger after a long drive from Tucson and was told by the waitress at the front counter that the only thing she could do was a chicken salad sandwich and a bag of chips- which hungry as I was- I said yes please.
