Place was delicious we moved to Sanger about 4 months ago and hadn’t had the chance to stop and try this place out till tonight! The brisket and even the BBQ sauce was on point! It was 6:30pm and this place was pretty busy for a Sunday. Now we know why, cuz this place is pretty damn good! Other thing we liked about this place was that they had a drive-thru!

Not sure why this place is not packed all the time, but glad it wasn't when I went. Great ribs, down home atmosphere and fair prices. Sides are quite good, kids lived the chicken nuggets and fries which are cooked to order, not reheat and eat. Will definitely be back often.

The food is excellent and the owners are great people. Never had a bad experience.

Their BBQ is awesome an the owners are really friendly. Well worth the stop if your traveling through north Texas. Been back many times food is always fresh an delicious owners / staff are always friendly. Highly recommend.

One of the best BBQ places around! Free pickle/onion/jalapeño bar and free ice cream for dessert. Very nice people and great food. My go-to is the brisket salad, but the loaded fries are amazing too.

This place is fantastic! Not only is their BBQ and food so yummy (we eat here every week), but we really enjoy the friendly, down-to-earth staff too! My 3yo and 1yo eat great here as well. The kids meals and daily specials are great! The restaurant is very clean, has a pleasant atmosphere, and the owners make a huge effort to serve the people of Sanger and the surrounding area with wonderful service. We will be returning regularly!

Loved it, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and medium onion rings and a small coke. It was great BBQ. It is a need to try at least. These other reviews I read before going today and I have not experienced any of the bad things they are saying. The Onion rings are my favorite there, they were a little burnt but still really good. Thank You!

very clean, as you walk in you will smell the sweet smell of Barbq, greeted at the counter, pick what you want, then you pick the sides. The sides are wonderful, so many to pick from. The meat was very tender, sides are fresh, rolls were good too. I think we now have a place we will go get Barbq at. oh leave room for their free ice cream.

Like most BBQ places. Easy to order. All the usual sides. My brisket was extra tasty. The fries were meh. Should have tried one of the other options!

Stopped by for a quick bite and was quite surprised with the food quality. Brisket, pull pork and sausage are perfect. Decent side menu selections. Portion is a bit larger than average bbq chains. Spicy BBQ sauce brings the whole thing to another level. Wish I had taken some home!

The Best BBQ I have had in long time potato salad to die for.

Came from out of town and just happened to drive by. Friday night and we got our food very quickly! Fair priced and it was delicious!! Great portions too, we had extras to take with us. Love finding small family owned business's!

Ribs where immaculate and meat was falling off the bone. Everything was freshly cooked/fried when my family got it, and the staff was very friendly throughout the entire experience. Over all its probably one of the best bbq places I've ever eaten at. Definitely coming back sooner than later.

Fast and friendly service, excellent food. Got the 2 lb family pack to try several meats. Pulled pork and ham were great, but the brisket was a bit bland, no smoke flavor. The turkey breast was fantastic! Tender, moist, and just the right amount of smoke. The sides were all good and the apple cobbler was to die for. And if I'm not mistaken, real potatoes and made from scratch buns. Am I right?

Good lean sliced brisket with good bbq sauce. Sides were good too, mac ‘n cheese and green beans. Soft rolls. Enjoyed the peach cobbler with complimentary vanilla soft serve ice cream.

The ribs and pulled pork were excellent. Tender and flavorful. The guys working at the time were very helpful. The parking lot is tiny, being right on I35 we had hoped for a large parking area as we were pulling a fifth wheel - we parked on the street next to the restaurant. Will probably visit again and will definitely recommend to others

Do yourself a favor and stop here!!!! Amazing Texas bbq. Ribs were incredible as well as the sausage and turkey. Best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had as well as green beans. Incredible!!! Can’t wait to come back

We were driving through from Houston craving barbecue… Saw the 4.3 stars and decided to give it a try! Conveniently it has a drive-through, but we decided to go inside to eat. The green beans were off the chain (we LOVE GREEN BEANS), they have a plethora of sides. ,brisket was delicious and moist!!! The facilities were clean. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. We both got the light plate for 9.99 which is your choice of meat, A roll & a side. Also, 2 styles of potato salad!! 10/10 for SURE ❤️❤️

I'm always on the search for the best BBQ in Texas, and this one is top of my list. They've got great sides, super tender brisket, and great service. It's worth the drive every time!

Great great great! The family stopped in on our way to casino and I was impressed. We walked in ordered and got our food quickly. The ribs were great and full of flavor the beans were absolutely amazing and the loaded potatoes were amazing lots of flavor fall off the bone ribs lots of smoky flavor. I have to say these are probably some of the best I've had.

Stopped here for a quick bite on the way to Winstar. Easy in/easy out. Lunch specials are great. Tuesday was 3 tacos, side , and a drink for $12.50. Brisket tacos were excellent and the beans were delicious. Wife had pork tacos which she loved. Friendly folks. Will return on our next trip up.

First time eating here! Craving bbq. It was good! Asked for lean chopped brisket. Picked 2 sides. Okra was made to order. Mac n Cheese was flavorful. They give you a roll, and portion sizes are good! Missed taking a picture...maybe next time.

Really enjoyed the Frito Pie (chips topped with chopped brisket and cheese - a first for me. Had my beans on the side and added BBQ sauce (sweet)......wonderful meal. Food was ready to serve, hot, and quick service on a Friday evening. Will be back to try something new again. We had a large group and moved tables together.

Hubby and I came here for lunch and it was great! Smoked chicken sandwich was amazing and generous portions. Loved I could get a salad side, homemade croutons we great! Husbands BBq brisket and Mac n cheese were good too! Topped off with free ice cream 👍👍

Only been a couple times, but the employees are very nice & the food really good. Edit: Me & my hubby went again today & it was soo good! Tried the baked potato for the first time & was soo worth all the extra calories. (I’m getting old & calories matter now 😜) the only thing I can criticize is them making us get more then one drink to share. We always get one large drink to share between ourselves. We rarely get a refill. Being told that we can’t share a drink is a bit unpleasant. We are here for the food, not the drinks.

I stopped at Southern BBQ to meet my friend for lunch. I had the 2-meat plate combo, with pulled pork and brisket, mama's mac and cheese, and loaded mashed potatoes. The portions of meat were generous, the bbq sauce was tasty, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Great sides. Hot were hot and cold were too. Brisket and ribs very respectful. I would like more smoke. Both were tender and juicy. I'd go back

Up and coming BBQ establishment where you are welcomed to join in food in an air conditioned location. The variety of meat is good but no jalopeno sausage. The BBQ sauce is good but limited. I would like them to offer another sauce or just bring dinner home and use one of your local favorites. The mac & cheese is great! The coleslaw is aldo pretty good and appears to be made daily. Great flavored meat. The staff or owner's are nice. Now when the sister is working this place has a whole different energy!! Sweet tea is Texas style. Again the sauce is bland and could be better, please work on another sauce.

I had the sausage sandwich with barbecue sauce 😋 It was great 👍 Also had chips For dessert I had the peach cobbler which was excellent Service is quick and easy 👌 It's not a fancy place rather simple, but very clean I recommend Southern BBQ if you're looking for a good & quick meal

We picked up some pre christmas celebratory meats and the staff was SO AMAZING AND KIND. the food was about a 3.5 out of 5...it was good. Be sure to order hamburger buns with your order! They are the best. Sides were tremendous. Like I said, I'd go back JUST for the staff alone. Next time if like to try some other meats as well. Overall... Very worth it.

I'm am a picky BBQ person but giving them 4 stars due to veterans discount. Ribs were not up to the quality I would expect but their brisket was perfect. Lots of options for sides and desert. I will give them another try and try other things on their menu. No pictures due to i was just too hungry.

We have been coming here for quite some time and is our "go-to" for BBQ in Sanger. It's not your typical flavor BBQ and is a little different taste WHICH I like! HOWEVER, yesterday we went through the drive through and NO ONE was wearing a mask and the window attendant actually coughed and then handed our food to us! Look we aren't N95 wearing type mask people BUT we are essential workers too and wear our masks as necessary ESPECIALLY around food!

Not sure how anyone could ever say this is the best BBQ ever. Unless they have never been to a real BBQ place. The amount of meat for the price is good. Pulled pork was dry and flavorless. The spicey sauce didn't even help. The polish sausage had good flavor, but a bit too salty. That biscuit was just horrible. The sides (Mac and Cheese, and Carro Beans) where definitely the better part of this meal. I will say, I'll hit this place over any fast food joint or even Bill Miller's. But only just.

Food was usually good but prices have increased to an amount that is just not warranted for us. Too many other places to go to purchase a sandwich & 2 sides for the price they want to charge now. So we left but had gone there several times in the past. Others may be ok with prices not us.

The food was mediocre the chicken was dry the sides were bland not the worst BBQ I've ever had but far from the best plus they have a sign at the register that says no drink sharing like that's people sharing a drink is gonna break them. I wouldn't go back plus if your in the denton county area it's worth the extra drive to go to 407 bbq

Ordered two 2-meat platters to go. The lady at the window was pleasant. However, the food was a little less than desirable. The smoked turkey was extremely salty. The brisket was chopped. though we were expecting sliced. The bbq beans came straight out of a can with no additional seasoning or anything. The mac n cheese was stiff and seemed to be a few days old. The bbq sauce was bright red and tasted more like ketchup, not bbq sauce. The rolls were actually good, so we’ll give 3stars.

We love the meat flavor and sides as well, however less meat portions than when we first started visiting restaurant. Prices getting a bit high for us to go as often as we would like. Very friendly service though!

Chopped beef sandwich is a very good value for 7$ the menus is pretty pricy for me but they all are now about the same. The young woman that was taking orders via drive thru had the most rediculas 2" or more blinged out nails I ever seen. I really grossed me out as I watched her handle $ & food. Thank God my food was already wrapped. But I'm pretty sure the health dept doesn't allow that. But hey it's a warm body right? No body wants to work and the ones that do think the world and their boss should take them just as they are cause that's who they are. I don't think so. I hope you are the owner you see this and enforce some rules cause that's just nasty and how sickness and disease spreads. It's our responsibilities to teach our youth not let them set nasty disgusting standards. Especially blatantly in front of paying customers. The food is really good. But I'm not comming back after that was printed in my brain.

Good food but I expect BBQ sauce with my BBQ…I was asked 2x in the drive thru if we wanted BBQ sauce. Said yes. Get all the way home and had to eat a very dry sandwich. None in the bag. Disappointing.

Prices too high. BBQ ribs and brisket average flavor nothing special. Sides look good and good flavor. Add 2 dollars if you share your plate on site. Thats a bad idea for business.

Great service, good people, very clean restaurant. My brisket was more like shredded beef, not as flavorful as I hoped. I didn't like the BBQ sauce. I think that is still a good clean restaurant unfortunately my palate wasn't on board.

Food tastes great. We got a 2 meat plate with 2 sides. $16.00. Plus 2 drinks. $26.52 Total. We were charged an extra $2 for sharing! We didn't get anything extra with that charge. Not even an extra plate! That was such a turn off for me, I probably won't be back.

Three stars because the food was hot and the service was good but it's not BBQ. The brisket had no smoke ring, no bark and tasted like it was cooked in a crock pot. No smoke flavor on the ribs or the sausage. I think all the meat was definitely cooked in an oven. My sides were Mac and Cheese and potato salad. Both were bland as could be.

Food was good however, their food sharing politics is ridiculous! If you order in house they charge you if you share. If you take it to go they don’t charge. Make it make sense? Buying a 4 meat plate and they want to nickel and dime. No thanks.

I love their brisket fries!! As well as their brisket tacos! Overall I’d say this place is pretty good, sometimes it can be a little off, such as the most recent time I got brisket tacos they weren’t as flavorful as usual. I don’t think the employees are particularly friendly. It is a great bonus that they have a drive through, it is very convenient and all of their food they manage to get to you pretty quickly.

Hot and ready. Brisket bland and dry even while fatty,not sure how that mixes. Pulled pork dry per usual but decent when mixed with sauce. Mac and cheese watered down badly. Ribs decent but not great by any means. Wouldn't reccomend it Good staff and friendly

Tried Sanger's Southern BBQ for the first time. It's about the same quality as Dickey's & Buc-ee's & Soulman's & Spring Creek. Which means not good. Their turkey was dry & bland. Their brisket was absolutely dry & bland. The pork ribs were okay but needed more seasoning or smoke flavoring. The only good thing was their mac'n'cheese & dinner roll.

Average is the word that comes to mind when I think of this place. Nothing really stuck out to me as fantastic. The brisket was almost more roast like then brisket. The ribs were were ok, but no outstanding the flavor. The sides were pretty good, the mustard potato salad is good, alot sweeter than expected. The Mac is decent as well but the only seasoning I could taste was garlic, which is good if you like that. The best part was the sweet tea, the roll and the peach cobbler which was absolutely amazing. My biggest complaint is the bbq sauces. All of them are overwhelming tomato flavored felt like I was putting tomato sauce on my bbq. Definitely gonna come back to try the fries and the loaded potato, but the bbq alone is weak.

I eat here often but the customer service has definitely gone down, not near as welcoming as before and the lady always seams like she doents want to work and has an attitude. The new place Bolivar BBQ has very friendly staff and one night we got there towards close the came out and gave us leftover sausages and hot links. So that was a Plus! Would never have that kind of service at southern bbq.

Brisket was dry (the guy cut the bark off before serving it which is just a sin), the loaded mashed potatoes looked amazing but weren't, the beans were ok and the peach cobbler didn't have ANY peaches, I honestly wasn't even sure it was peach when I got home to eat it. The soft serve ice cream to go with the cobbler was amazing though.

It cost $28 for 1 lb of brisket. It had no flavor so you have to cover it with bbq sauce or something else if you want any flavor. Huge disappointment.

The food is mediocre. The serving size for "3-4 people" barely covers enough for 2 average sized adults. Brisket is bland. Went through drive through. No napkins, no plastic ware, no included side sauces, and they ask to fill in a tip for the drive through. Won't be back.

BBQ was very mediocre... Not hardly any flavor at all. Sauce was weird, beans were bad, mashed potatoes had a gritty consistency. I am not a fan of dickeys bbq at all and I would much rather have gone there.

I really wanted to like this place, especially when I walked in. It is a really cute restaurant. However the gentleman who took my order was very arrogant and acted as if he prefer i left and not ordered! I have been craving barbecue all day and I have been wanting to stop here and try and I finally got the opportunity today. The food was OK… I think sides are extremely overcooked. I don’t think this is a place that I would want to visit again! Really sad…wish this could’ve been a really great southern feel to match the name of the restaurant, but there was nothing southern about this place at all!

My daughter saw the sign in the window saying kids eat free on Sundays. So we went in on a Sunday and ordered. While we were ordering we saw a sign to have a complimentary ice cream. We checked out and noticed they charged us for the kids meal plus the ice cream. I questioned it and immediately all employees heads popped up telling me to read the fine print. Apparently you have to dine in. My mistake but employees are rude. Hopefully they can overcome the lack of customers and hang in there!

They bigger lady in the front with long nails 💅 So unprofessional , has an attitude problem and does not believe in customer service. Just for that reason and sometime dry meat 🍖 I would not recommend unless you need bbq it’s not the worse thing ever !!!

Ate there about 2 weeks ago & the rib plate was amazing hsd the same plate today and to put it nicely was a good cleanser if you get my drift it was like a completely different place. Even the sides were awful. Definitely dont recommend unless you want to be on a toilet all night.

Being new to the area and wanting to keep tax dollars local I noticed this location as I was leaving Ace Hardware. I pulled into the drive thru to order an half pound of brisket and possibly tamales for Christmas. The young man at the window was nice. I had a few questions about ordering tamales. He couldn’t answer. I noticed a Hispanic lady behind him and said is she the contact and he said yes. Mind you she heard me asking him and never came to assist until I asked. When she came her demeanor was more so me bothering her. That was my queue to bail out and leave. Little did she realize I was about to place at least an order for over 1,000. My plan was to hand them out to my team at work as part of the Christmas gift on Friday. Oh well as consumers we expect warm friendly service not I’m bothering you. I will now check another business for tamales. Saddens me this happened. My hope is that this organization reads this review and improve so that customers like me who want to patronize them feel welcomed.

I'll start this off with a good note. They have very good okra. However, I am baffled at the fact they have a 4.5 star rating. There was a bald gentleman working that was hardworking and friendly. He looked professional and was helpful. The other two workers were downright lazy and had zero personality. The one girl that worked the register ended up making her own plate of food, picked at it in front of everyone and left to what we assume was to take a lunch. Mind you, the place had 6 tables including us that were eating. It was 1:30pm on a Sunday and this lady decides to go above and beyond with her laziness and self centered attitude. Enough about the service let's talk about the food. The pulled pork was cold and tasteless. The ribs look nothing like the other pictures online so get ready to be seriously disappointed. We even went back to the counter to give the dessert a second chance. Oh, my, God no.Never have I ever had a nastier "cobbler". Don't waste your time and money here.

Honestly wasn't that good of an experience, the "BBQ" was pretty disappointing, the spicy bbq sauce tasted like chamoy. The peach cobbler was dry and not very good, like it was made 2 or 3 days in advance. Maybe it's just me but it just wasn't good.

FOOD POISONING Last three brisket fries I got really sucked. but last night was the final straw. Wife and I each ordered brisket fries and both of us got food poisoning. The brisket is probably days old as the jalapenos are all red by no means fresh. I'm almost certain the brisket is days old and should be thrown out. A health inspector needs to check this place out asap.

Update. Maybe a good thing manger didnt make my meal right. Both. Hubby & i have had stomach issues last few hours since we ate there. I gave manager chance to make my brisket meat order right. I can't eat fat. Makes me sick. Bad customer service. All he could say next time you come in.order lean only brisket. We dont live in the area. I told i do reviews. He didnt care. His customer service was the main reason for this review to begin with. Til we got sick.The BBQ sauce was the worst ever .
