We celebrated our wedding reception here, and it was magical! The staff made sure every detail was perfect, from the beautifully decorated table to my seating chart. Serina always answered all my emails in a timely manner. The staff was attentive, ensuring everything was perfect. This restaurant is a hidden gem for special occasions. I hosted my brother’s wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was AMAZING! I worked with Serina to rent out the restaurant for the evening and plan the whole event and she was excellent. Throughout the entire process, she was informative, communicative, and so easy to work with. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was exceptional - all the guests were super impressed by the quality and quantity of the food, and service was excellent! We loved the customizable menu and all the personalized touches! I will definitely be back soon! THANK YOU STATE & FIG, and especially Serina!!!
Serina and her team spoiled us with an incredible custom menu and a stress free wedding reception. It’s not an exaggeration to say she worked tirelessly to incorporate personalized themes so that each dish was a reflection of us. The night of, they facilitated happy hour, appetizers, open bar, mocktails, dinner, cake cutting, and dancing. We are very grateful for their partnership.
We held our wedding rehearsal brunch at State & Fig and it was absolutely beautiful! We were so happy with how the event turned out because it was centrally located (close to State St & our venue), competitively priced with other nearby options, and the staff was so attentive and helpful! They set the tables beautifully and really made the event feel so special. The food was also delicious with huge portions. Serina was amazing to work with throughout the planning process. Working with Patrick & Serina to host our wedding reception of 60 people here was a dream. We were able to plan our menu over a few phone calls & emails, and finalize after a food tasting. They were so easy to work with! They also helped us plan our cocktail hour & were great with helping us stay within our budget. We opted not to have a DJ, and their speakers were a great alternative to have Spotify in the background. PS for future brides here — use all the candles, it makes the space super cozy & romantic. Absolutely recommend, thank you!
This place is amazing, the staff is hard working and they go above and beyond when it comes to service and the care for their customers! They hosted our wedding that was intimate with 30 close friends and family and made it a magical experience! The food was so amazing, the owner and GM could not have done a better job on making it so easy and so hospitable! My family and I will definitely be dropping in whenever we are in the area
I hosted my reception for 25 people at State & Fig on 6/12/2025. I first sent out an inquiry to State & Fig and started speaking to Serina in January 2025. I then spent the following months having many back and forth emails with Serina regarding my event. She was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, detail-oriented, and friendly. I can’t highlight enough how incredible Serina was to work with. She was willing to listen to any questions, decoration ideas, or concerns that I had. I have no question that if it wasn’t for her, my reception wouldn’t have turned out as dreamy as it did. She helped me make my dreams come alive. I used some of the decoration they provided and brought some of my own - just to make it more confusing! Haha The State & Fig team was incredible on the day of my event - always attentive and helpful to my guests. My wedding cake was also done by Serina. It was a red velvet cake, and it was one of the best cakes I’ve ever had in my life! I still dream about having another bite 😂 They had the whole outside area set up for my guests to be able to wait comfortably and served them drinks while they waited as well - so thoughtful!! I’d absolutely have my reception at State & Fig again, and I hope I can work with Serina again in the future! Thank you so much to State & Fig (and specially Serina) for the incredible experience!!
My daughters wedding reception was held here and WOW. They were OUTSTANDING!!! Serena helped organize the whole thing and made it effortless for us. The service was so attentive! The food was so fresh and delicious....like Farmers Market Fresh (chefs kiss). You can order your cake from them and ours was 2 cakes with 3 layers...and WOW. It was so moist and delicious! They served really good prosecco and various juices for mimosas. I can't rave enough about why you should have a unique and beautiful reception here!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at State and Fig and it was the best decision we have ever made! We had our ceremony at the courthouse (which we also recommend) and then walked over to State and Fig for our cocktail hour and dinner. When I walked into the restaurant and saw my vision come to life, I almost cried. It was the most beautiful and magical night all thanks to Serina, Patrick, and the rest of the staff! I have sooo many amazing things I can say about this place, the staff, and the food. Serina is wonderful! She answered all of my questions through email at all times of the day/night. Her and Patrick made all of my wishes and vision possible! Any ideas I threw at them, they were excited to make happen for us. We had 25 guests and did a one hour passed tray cocktail hour. The hors d’oeuvres were outstanding!!! We chose the crab cakes, steak skewers, and burrata toast (still dreaming about these!!!) and everyone LOVED all of it. We also chose to do the drink package which included beer, wine, champagne, soda, tea, coffee, juices and it was perfect! The drinks were good and they kept the bar flowing smoothly all night. Now for the dinner. I was shocked by the food! I knew the quality was going to be amazing but the portions were huuuuge!!! We started with a classic house salad and the entrees we chose were salmon, chicken, and short ribs. Everyone raved about the food all night. It was sooooo good. Then to close out our dinner we had their chocolate cake. The entire process from start to finish was so easy. Serina and Patrick were so responsive and accommodating of changes even on the day of our event! They allowed us to come to the restaurant the day before and set up a mock up table and leave our decor with them so they could replicate our vision the next day. We got to play our own music and even had a grand entrance and space for our first dance. It was such a perfect night! We will be recommending State and Fig to everyone forever! We are already looking forward to our next trip to Santa Barbara to eat here! Thank you Serina, Patrick, and the other wonderful staff for making our wedding day so special!!!
I've made a lot of terrible decisions in my life but choosing State and Fig for my wedding reception totally cancels them all out. And I made some BAD decisions. From the very beginning, Patrick was a dream to work with. He's kind and warm, he's also responsive and efficient and above all he knows how to cook, run a restaurant, and throw a great event! He took care of everything so we didn’t have to worry. He was super patient with all our many changes. Originally we were supposed to get married April 2020 but had to cancel due to COVID, then we had to keep canceling or next dates due to some personal tragedies (our first baby was stillborn in June 2020 then 2 weeks later my mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, then 7 months after that our second baby was lost at 11 weeks, all this happened during the pandemic that decimated my husband's small business in the hospitality industry). Patrick was very accommodating of my brother and his family who did not want to sit inside with the rest of us. He up a table on the patio and make them very comfortable. We rented 4 heat lamps to keep them warm and it was super nice on the patio, they were not miserable at all and they didn't look like "pariahs" as they claimed they would. It was a great setup out there, and Patrick even did the cocktail hour with passed appetizers out there so they felt more included. It was perfect. Not only was Patrick patient with all the switch-ups, but he was also incredibly warm and kind and empathetic about all our trauma and grief. He worked extra hard to make sure we had the most perfect wedding possible because he felt we deserved one happy day. And he pulled it off! The food and ambience at our wedding reception was PERFECT. It was hard to make our menu selections because all the options he sent us looked delicious! He curated a menu based upon our many conversations and he really took the time to get to know our likes/dislikes and childhood memories. All the options he created looked amazing so it was hard, but we finally narrowed it down to 3 tray passed appetizers (which people are STILL raving about, especially the salmon poke spoon and the battered halibut with tater tot and malt vinegar aioli). My husband is allergic to fish, but we still chose 2 fish appetizers because we felt our guests would really enjoy them. I felt bad for him that he would only be able to eat one of them. However, when we arrived at the restaurant after cocktail hour, as soon as we sat down after our first dance the server brought us each a little plate of the passed appetizers! Mine contained 2 of each of the 3 passed apps and they were SO GOOD. My husband's plate contained 2 of the vegetarian appetizer (it was a warm brie and mushroom crostini, to die for) and they made him some cute little sliders too! Not only did they remember he can't eat fish but they went out of their way to make him something different that he could eat. The salad and the entrees and even the dessert were impeccable. They tasted delicious, were plated beautifully, and everything was served at the exact temperature it was supposed to be. I will post a photo of the custom menus our florist (Brooke with Burlap and Bordeaux) printed so you can see. It was legitimately the best meal of my life, and I'm kind of a foodie and have pretty high standards when it comes to food. I've had a lot of really good meals, but this one beat them all! The service was wonderful too! The staff were super attentive and professional, and they all really went above and beyond to give us a special day. It was perfect. We are so glad we chose State and Fig for our wedding reception and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to host a nice meal and really wow their guests. We're still hearing compliments from our guests about the food and service and ambience of the restaurant! We are so deeply grateful to Patrick and his staff for giving us a perfect wedding.
Serina was SO wonderful and helpful! We had brunch here after my wedding and we felt so taken care of. On top of the amazing hospitality, the food is incredible! Cannot recommend State and Fig enough, THANK YOU SERINA! 💖
Came here for brunch while in town for a wedding, and everything was delightful. We chose to share the hangover and the salmon Benedict and while both were delicious, the same, and Benedict was the unanimous winner. Our server Riley was so friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Hosted a dinner event at this place on a Thursday night. We rented out the restaurant. The staff was a joy to work with - it seems like they all get along fantastic which makes for a great experience as a guest! The food was impeccable as well. Can't say enough good things!
My experience at State and Fig was nothing short of amazing! I was looking at different locations to propose to my girlfriend and decided to do it at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and have brunch close by for my family and friends. My friend and I scouted for different locations three weeks earlier and decided State and Fig was a good location. The manager suggested I reach out to Patrick, who owns the restaurant, to reserve the date and get the cost. Patrick is nothing short of a very professional host and businessman. He was responsive, caring and provided so many options that it made the experience at State and Fig so much better. He gave two course and three course menu options, gave me a reasonable price and came out and greeted all of us at the proposal brunch. The food was excellent and there were no complaints by anyone. I highly recommend State and Fig for the food, service, and atmosphere.

Hands down my favorite brunch spot in downtown Santa Barbara. This place can get crowded. It was raining when I went so the outdoor seating was non existent.
Hands down my favorite brunch spot in downtown Santa Barbara. This place can get crowded. It was raining when I went so the outdoor seating was non existent.
High priced mediocre food with a little attention to detail. Went staff seemed disinterested and in providing prompt service. The kitchen was incredibly slow. We only ordered entrées at lunchtime, the restaurant was mostly empty, and we still sat at our table with nothing but water for almost an hour. I would not willingly return. The corner of the restaurant is beautiful, and the location is really remarkable. I love this little alleyway district. But next time I would choose a different restaurant.
