I haven't been here in at least 30 years. But these Owners are amazing! Great Service 👍 Delicious Food made to Order 😋 and Outdoor Seating was Clean and on a Niice day like Today, why not eat outside!!
The pepper beef sandwich was amazing. Fresh hot fries, crisp soda. Husband had breakfast burrito and it was great came with salsa, daughter had the burger. Everything was delicious and fresh. Great place to take your family. Delicious breakfast options!! Must try. Also not expensive!
This place has been here for a long time. Their food is outstanding! Breakfast is served all day. The shakes are from another planet, so creamy and good. The atmosphere here is laid back 50's style. There are pictures of the classic cars on the walls that bring you back to the time when you were a kid. A real gem!
We came here after a visit to the Winchester Mystery House. It had 4.5 stars and a good menu. We showed up with 8 people. Santiago helped us at the counter, very patient and answered any questions we had and also offered options we didn't know or ask about toppings on our burgers. With 8 people we had a huge order. It all came out when it was ready and very fresh. Milkshakes were great and fountain drink refills were handled quickly as well. The environment was great. Small background music playing and lots of different options to sit (booths, tables, and outdoor seating as well. I'll be bragging about this place anytime someone mentions going to San Jose.
Recently moved to San Jose in January 2020 and I have not had the best food experiences However, once I stumbled on Burger Barn I have been in heaven. I had breakfast one morning, the service was so awesome and the food was made super fast! Everything was fresh and hot and delicious... I had a burger today and it was amazing also, I love the fresh ingredients and The fact that even takeout orders are fresh and delicious.
I love the burgers here. Definitely one of my favorites, possibly my favorite, but I hesitate to call any burger my favorite because I love burgers in general. I like the atmosphere of the place. It's got an old fashion feel that not just because it's an old building. There's a nice patio at sitting outside is your thing. You should definitely go here if you haven't been. Although I haven't had it, the breakfast menu looks amazing, and it's served all day.
WOW! What a GEM ! My Bacon Burger Was Satisfying !
Great family owned restaurant. I've been coming here for years and the food is always good.
My wife stopped here out of curiosity and were not disappointed with the food. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. They serve breakfast all day and they make some really good sandwiches. The Coca Cola does not taste like tap water. It tastes great! Visit this place! You will not be disappointed!
Burger basket was the best burger I've had in Cali. The beef patty has a grilled steak flavor. Best french fries I've had in San Jose the onion rings are good too. Everything is cooked fresh to order. I couldn't take a picture because I ate it too fast.
Food is delicious ingredients all taste fresh. One of the best burgers I've ever had
Just stopped by this place cause I was curious about it since Id passed it a few times. Delicious buger freshly made and very reasonably priced. Cool looking spot as well. Definitely would advice you check then out.
Really good burger. Roll was soft. Better than any chain. Fries are a little heavy on the seasoning but I liked it. Others may not. Would highly recommend.
Classic style short order grill, real food not microwaved! Had the Barn Burger - greasy as expected and very tasty. Friendly staff, calm and welcoming attitude. Decor is well kept in simple diner style with some vintage car flair.
Excellent burgers and fantastic service, with great 1950 burger shack decor. Not very many places you can get a burger for $6 thats as fresh as this.
I've gone there twice now with my partner, once for a burger and second for breakfast. They have been great both times. They cook everything fresh on the spot with real ingredients. I had their banana milk shake, it was made with real ice cream and real bananas, not artificial flavoring. Their customer service is also very nice and friendly. They also sell bags, shirts, hats and blankets that were made by a friend of someone who works there. Nice small family owned business that I am happy to keep supporting.
Mario runs the place excellently, takes care of his customers, and provides a good atmosphere in this hidden little gem of a restaurant. In a secluded plaza right behind the busy districts of Valley Fair and Santana Row, this is one of San Jose’s vintage and more established places to eat. A very classic 50s pop atmosphere permeates the interior, and the outside reminds me that one time, this land was nothing but orchards! Don’t let this classic gem disappear!
The best burgers around this area ,everything was hot and fresh. I tried the bacon burgers with fries ,they are really delicious. They have new owners.
I LOVE BREAKFAST FOODS!!! I could have eggs at home, but having eggs at a restaurant just makes them taste better (it's science). Okay, yes I enjoy fancy brunch places as much as the next person, but at the end of the day (or the start of it?), I just want some dang good breakfast foods. I love the variety of food options here and definitely will be back for their lunch options. I stuck with the simple Breakfast Special which includes two eggs, sausage/ham/or bacon, and toast/or hash browns. Call me a fiend, but all I ever wanted from breakfast sausages was for them to taste like McDonald's sausage patties. And Burger Barn delivers! This is really random, but Burger Barn has been on my food bucket list for a while, because I love how it's old-timey looking business is kinda standing it's ground against the behemoth that is Valley Fair. The juxtaposition is just excellent. I will be back! :D
This has become our new favorite place for good o breakfast. Very affordably priced but more importantly (to us) the portions are just right. Not Denny's or Bill's Cafe's must-pack-to-go. And they use real eggs for scramble. Good o school breakfast. This place is such a gem.
I mainly like to go here just because the scene in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape. They were accommodating to add jalapeños to my fries. Wish they had a bathroom. Fellow customers were friendly. Thanks!
If their breakfast is any indicator of their burgers, I’m definitely coming back to try them. Worth stopping by forsure.

11/18/2023 @ 10:45am. Simple fast food burger serving breakfast omelette.
Hello all, Long ago it was Red Barn in the 1980’s. Only change was the name. Very good people friendly and helped. Breakfast , lunch, dinner meals. Atmosphere old cars photos. Take care.
The burgers are delicious! Would recommend and the fries are fried perfect 👌 10/10 recommend
I came around to buy a bed in the area and I found this restaurant at the corner of valley fair. Its honestly a hidden gem. If you know diner food, you can get it here. If you know Burger food you can get it here, sandwiches you can get them here as well as shakes an all day breakfast! The food with seasoned well! And things that are salty like pastrami, they tasted great and they did a good job at making my sandwich what melted cheese and mustard. I also upgraded my fries to fried mushrooms! If you have a dog like me you can buy a burger patty and it's about $8 at the time of writing this. But it's a big thick patty. So dogs are welcome inside and outside! At least the time of me going.
Great family run restaurant. We stopped in for breakfast, everything was so fresh and delicious. We added chocolate chips to the pancakes, they were amazing! The Califprnia omlete and breakfast burrito were really good too!
My daughter & I had breakfast and loved it. 😁 We had Denver omelets that were excellent, fresh & flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is fun, clean and spacious! We highly recommend Burger Barn!
Mario the owner was such a nice guy. The Burgers were great, and the breakfast burritos were good too. The newly renovated restroom was really nice. This place has a old route 66 vibe to it, and we will be back.

Good place. Forgot to take a picture of the BLT. I was able to eat it while driving and nit have it spill all over. My kids will love this place. Definitely gonna bring them.
Cozy Ma & PA place. Great value (inexpensive). I've been three times now. Egg sandwich with ham & Swiss, twice; and French toast with sausage & eggs once. All meals were very tasty, albeit simple. Low key. Locals come here to read the morning paper and grab a quick bite. Friendly. I recommend it.
Been coming here since the 70.s I always get the bacon cheese burger with their steak fries. It is cooked the way a burger should when you go out. Staff has always been courteous. No fountain drinks just bottles and cans. Their combo price is reasonable when comparing to similar type places. They used to have hot rods gather on the weekends and that is always fun to see. Overall its been there for decades and decades and has been able to survive many different economies. That.s saying something.
The burgers are delicious, the menu is great overall, and the employees here are very nice, but there's no bathroom for the customers otherwise I would give 5 stars(this is not a deal breaker) I highly recommend coming here anytime.
7.2 cheeseburger $7 It's ok. I've had worse. I guess it's an ok spot for lunch. I probably would rather get the cheese steak next time and try it out Otherwise this place is ok... ingredients had flavor and they put a thousand island sauce on it. There was just nothing special about it.
Great for home cooked food. I have been to many places that serve pancakes and these guys have it down perfectly. Not crumbly, not too much baking soda, soft but doesn't disintegrate. Holds the butter well when spread and cuts smooth. Flavor wise they're awesome 👌 I'm a breakfast anytime type of person so they're perfect. Even the eggs are good...I like mine over-medium and they cooked them perfectly.
Great breakfast and affordable. The barn slam was eggs, 3 strips of bacon, and 2 pancakes. Different than your other diner flavor. Just nice and basic.

Small whole in the wall place, has a 70s style feeling to it. Food was decent. I ordered the Philly cheese steak. It was pretty good it comes with a side of garlic fries. Overall, it was a great place to eat near Santana Row

During my visit, I tried the Bacon Cheeseburger combo. I was really looking forward to getting a good burger, but what I got was a dry burger that was void of any flavor. I had to keep drowning the burger in ketchup, when it already had plenty of special sauce on it, just to get it down. The bun fell apart in my hand. It was just a bit stale. The steak fries looked and tasted rather bland too. The woman next to me, tried to feed her dog a fry and the dog kept turning his head. $11 for a burger, medium lemonade and fries with little or no flavor, not worth it. I felt like trying an egg and junior cheese burger. It cost $5.65 and was pretty much the same bland taste. The only good thing was they will happily make anything you special order. Carl Jr and Jack in the box taste better.
No air conditioning, so don't think you are going to cool off here. This place is almost a diner in an old ice cream stand. We had French toast and a hot dog. I asked for mustard and relish and I got mustard and pickles.

Ordered at 0836, with hardly any guests inside. I finally received my food at 0854. It appears that they only do one order at a time, making it very slow. When I finally saw my food being bagged, I walked to the counter and waited. The employees took their sweet time bagging it and giving it to me, and when I made a remark about it taking 20 minutes, the employee at the front of house replied that it hadn't even been close to that. I just took my order and left, as I did not plan to be there for more than 10 minutes as a burger and onion rings shouldn't take very long. I would not recommend if you are in a rush as I was, and even then their patties are fairly tasteless. 3/10 do not recommend.

Well, they have changed hands. New owners. I waited for 40 minutes for my meal. The man that was before me waited a bit longer, and apparently they didn't know what a tuna melt was very angry because he was in a hurry. My BLT had very small bits and pieces of bacon made earlier or the day before obviously. I'm sorry but I won't be going back anytime soon. The former owners should never have sold it to them.
I just want to say with the new ownership it seems like it's way overpriced and the quality has gone down significantly, in reality after getting my food and eating it I realized who am I to say anything about price when I'm not a business owner? Very delicious
Old school feel. Good selection of food but the portions were small. We had breakfast and lunch. Eggs still had shells inside and only had like 10 fries per plate. It seems like the cook didn't know what the portion sizes were and ran short so they divided between.
I believe they are under new ownership. Ordered basket special for $12.99. Little to none steak fries. Thousand island dressing, no ketchup or mustard on plain burger. Very tiny portions. They forgot my soda. He said he'll be back with napkins, never came back. Got up to request these items as well as the ketchup. Wiggity wiggity WACK! Hit up Carls Jr. You'll be better off.

Expensive and small portions. I left still hungry. I dined in. For starters, I did not appreciate the food coming on paper plates, and the super cheap cutlery alongside it. For the price, I expected more! I ordered a hot link breakfast with eggs and hash browns, and a tuna sandwich with a vanilla milkshake. 5/5 for the milkshake 2/5 for the Tuna sandwich - small, very plain, no mayo, no produce was offered on the sandwich. It was dry and flavorless. The portion of fries was very small. I had to ask for pickles to give the sandwich a kick. $13 was way too expensive for the size and quality. 3/5 for the breakfast plate, but it was too small of a portion and came up to $17. 4/5 for the French toast. It tasted how it should, nothing special. Also, super small and thin bread used. For $11.99 it was not worth it. Total was $50 for a meal that should have been no more than $30. I suggest the owner consider updating the portion sizes and prices. Also, investing in plates, metal cutlery, and cups would make a difference with the first impression and the overall quality and atmosphere of the experience.
