Next Level Hot Pot 💯 As a fan of Las Vegas’ X Pot, I knew I’d eventually make my way to Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House (now with two NorCal locations in San Mateo and Santa Clara) The Santa Clara location has been open longer and now offers reservations on Yelp Specializing in A5 Wagyu, Mikiya is the perfect spot for special occasions and we came away both full, impressed and happy I actually had visited Mikiya in SoCal so knew the format: three menu or tiers of Silver, Gold, and Diamond varying largely in the number of A5 Japanese Wagyu ribeye (unlimited, one plate per person, or none) as well as special appetizers and seafood platters (unlimited, one per table, or none) An annual member ship is available when dining ($28 first year and then $58 annually) that offers a discount for both the member and a guest and is really worth it if you plan to dine at any of the Chubby Cattle locations (X Pot, Mikiya, Chubby Cattle) located throughout the United States While none of the hot pot broth are as fanciful as X Pot, the rest is very comparable from the excellent quality beef (Japanese A5 Wagyu, Australian Wagyu, American Wagyu) to the seafood (crab legs, oysters, scallops, abalone) Service is top notch too with friendly and attentive servers who are quick to make suggestions on best items and how to really enjoy your experience We came to celebrate a special occasion and everyone left happy…truly no easy feat 📷 Gold Tier $78 per person ($68 member and guest price) ~ Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Ribeye (one plate pp) / Japanese A5 Wagyu Shoulder Cut (one plate pp) / Japanese A5 Wagyu brisket / Full Blood M9 Australian Wagyu Chuck Ribeye / Full Blood M9 Australian Wagyu Shoulder Cut / Seafood Platter with Pearl Grouper / Specialty Dish (one pp) 📍Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House (Santa Clara, CA) Dining is indoor only and reservations are available on Yelp. An unforgettable dining experience at Mikiya Shabushabu! Indulged in their Wagyu All-You-Can-Eat offering, and it was beyond amazing! The premium Wagyu beef melted in our mouths, leaving us craving for more. The value for money is exceptional, considering the quality and quantity of the Wagyu offered. Coupled with their attentive service and cozy atmosphere, this place truly stands out as a gem in Santa Clara. Highly recommend for Wagyu lovers and anyone seeking a top-notch dining experience!
We had diamond waygu set $98/person. Unlimited Waygu & seafood, quality is very good. No doubt. Waygu is sweet and tender, seafood are fresh and good texture. For drink, they have soft drinks( Fanta, sprite, coke, Coke Zero ..), few flavors of ramune, Mr.Brown coffee( Taiwan local brand😊) . Vegetables are fresh as well. Overall , good quality food, efficient & good service. Our time is 3:30-5pm on Sunday . If you pay $26 become membership, for diamond waygu set is $88 ( $98 before member discount ) , and is eligible discount maximum 2 persons as a member.
It's so great here! The quality of the wagyu beef is very good. It’s so delicious that we can’t stop eating it. The service is very diligent and kind. They came often and help us order beef at any time because only 90 mins for each time , they are totally understand what’s the customer’s need . I cut one star down because not too much dessert only ice cream available no fruit . No reservation , so recommend go earlier should much easier .
I am not a fan of hot pot but this place concerted me. It is an AYCE thinly sliced beef we had the diamond and it was so delicious. We came back twice to this place. They have different flavors of ice cream dessert and different kids of drinks too. You have to come here before they open or you will wait for a very long time. You can sign up for reservation thru yelp only if you are close to the area. They have different sauces for your beef and ingredients for the hotpot but be patient with the line....it can be a long wait... they food menu is also delivious we had frois gras, bone marrow toast, wagyunigiri i wasnt impress of the beef tartar but its bot bad i am just not a fan of it.
Glad they opened in Bay area! Wagyu meat is melting and specialty food were very fresh. We got sweet shrimp and wagyu tartare for specialty, sweet shrimp was super fresh! I recommend to order at least gold menu, you don’t want to miss great A5 wagyu. This will be the top tier shabu in Bay area. Hope they maintain this quality and service :) Oh, don’t forget to wait in line before they open, there are long line if u come after they open.
Delicious wagyu, excellent ambiance, quality meats, service, and overall a great time. I think the silver menu all you can eat is the best value but if you have the budget go for the gold. I don’t need the seafood and while the wagyu tastes great I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary.
Wagyu is amazing. Jackie was a great server—friendly, attentive, and easygoing the whole time. Really smooth experience overall. Will definitely come back.
I took my parents here for lunch. They love the hot pot with high quality of Wagyu and seafood. Phone did great job of talking good care of our table. He always check on us to see if we need anything. I will definitely be back. They have good quality of food and nice services. Highly recommended.
Went here last weekend at 1:30 pm and we were able to get seated right away. Parking was a bit tough though so we had to park a little further away and walk. Their parking lot is definitely challenging with how tight it is and how little parking is available but it is in a larger plaza. Kids under 100cm are free. It was our first time so we went with the platinum, which provides access to the most number of items and were unlimited, which is mostly what we ate from. They have a choice of 4 different broths and you can choose up to 2 and we went for the traditional and the sweet (sukiyaki) but they also had a spicy and miso one. Would definitely like to try the other two at some point. They have a membership available but if you are t going to eat here at least 3 times a year, don't think it's worth it and you can just pay a bit more for the non-member price. There is a bar section with fresh veggies and noodles and a station with rice and a few extras such as veggie curry, pasteurized eggs (recommended if you do sukiyaki broth), and some other type of stew like thing that I couldn't figure out. Around the corner is a fruit bar and a drink section with your choice of coke products, freshly squeezed orange juice through a juicing machine, milk tea, and calpico. They have hot tea available as well on another counter that you can easily miss. Your time limit is 90 minutes so I'd recommend loading up on the orders while you can. I don't think they set a limit on how much you can order each time but you only have limited space on the table so good to keep that in mind. We were craving seafood so ordered the seafood platter, fish amaebi (sweet shrimp) as well as bone marrow with toast (not bad but a bit rich), as well as wagyu nigiri and the 3 specialty cuts of wagyu. Each plate of wagyu had 4 slices of meat each so you go through it pretty quick. We had about 8 plates of it so decent value for just the wagyu. It is AYCE so come with a big appetite and avoid fillers like the rice and noodles as well as the drinks.
We had to try Mikiya when we heard of AYCE shabu with A5 wagyu. They offer three wagyu sets: Silver, Gold, and Diamond. The silver offers the premium ribeye wagyu cut, premium Australian wagyu cut, a limited seafood platter, and a choice of the specialty dish per person. For the specialty dish we decided to go with the garlic roasted bone marrow and the foie gras. The bone marrow was overpowered by the roasted garlic flavor. The foie gras was decent, rich in fat, but flavor was somewhat bland. The gold and diamond is where they offer the A5 wagyu. If you came ready to eat I say go for the Diamond. If you wanted to try the A5 wagyu, in my opinion there's nothing wrong with gold as you still get the AYCE A5 wagyu brisket, one plate per person of A5 wagyu ribeye cut and the one plate per person of A5 wagyu should cut (one plate consist of 2-4 slices). We were okay with the gold set and everything it offers ($20 difference between gold and diamond). We still got very full and enjoyed the taste of the food. The drink bar, veggie bar, sauce bar, and wagyu minced beef bar is a really nice touch. The AYCE wagyu minced beef over rice is really good and definitely a filler for you between plates. We made reservations for a late dinner at 930pm on a Sunday. The regular dinner times between 5pm to 8pm are all booked up on the weekends. Weekday reservations are pretty open. If you come to be on the wait list for dinner, expect a 2-3 hour wait at this time. Owen, our server was very helpful and accommodating. Overall, it was great experience and food.
Omg best hot pot in the bay area, the closest thing to Japan shabu. Thomas was amazing server as well, super friendly and helpful guided use through the menu and checked up on us alot. Love the drink bar and veggie self serve bar, i also liked the sukiyaki broth alot too i was worried itd be too sweet but it was just right and they have pasterized egg for you to dip! All of their quality of beef is also really good
I’ve been a Mikiya member for years and have visited dozens of times. The service and food is always incredible! Jackie was super attentive and cheerful which made the dining experience as pleasant as can be!
My sister and I were on the waitlist for about two hours, so make sure to write down your name early! The hot pot was very tasty and the restaurant was super generous with its portions. Phone was a great waiter; he was very attentive and gave us a quick rundown of the menu on our first visit. I would definitely eat here again with friends and family!
Phone was attentive to our table needs and made sure that we had our food, drinks refilled, and gave us plenty of options to choose from. Great attitude and service!
Clean, a little hot inside, but it was 90+ degrees on the night I went. Decided on the spicy miso for the broth, I choose the Diamond $88 ayce wagyu option, I might die tomorrow, life is short.. All the wagyu was ultra tender, ridiculous melt in your mouth goodness. The bone marrow over rice stole the show! Would definitely go back!
A remarkable hidden gem that exceeded expectations. The A5 wagyu was exceptional — superb marbling and outstanding flavor — making it well worth the price. The selection of fresh vegetables was extensive and thoughtfully curated to complement the meal. Service was attentive, efficient, and consistently ensured a smooth dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a high-quality hot pot with premium ingredients and excellent hospitality
Our server phone took great care of us. Super active and very polite. Food is great as always.
The diamond combo is a great deal. I haven’t found a foie gras place in California since I moved here back in 2020 until today. Finally Bay Area has a place where you can do “ all you can eat”A5 wagyu shabu shabu and also bone marrow and foie gras and anti bacteria egg from japan as dipping sauce, etc etc. It was a luxurious experience, and they also provided different flavored ice cream as pallet cleaning dessert. I chose black sesame one and i want to try their match ice cream next time. The food was really fresh. I had two shrimp sashimi and it was absolutely fresh and sweet and delicious. Love this place, would definitely recommend it. The only thing I hope they could change is probably having some small refreshing appetizers or drinks on the menu. Besides, everything else was perfect!
A few friends recommended this place and this restaurant did not disappoint. It’s a no brainer to order the diamond option and it was well worth it. Quick service and good quality food. The only negative thing about the experience is that the floors are really slippery, so be careful on your trips back and forth to your table.
Shoutout to Jackie, best service we’ve had in a long time. Friendly, fast, and super attentive with great recommendations. She made the whole experience feel effortless!!!
We got there a little before the opening at 11. There was already a line. It opened right at 11, and it looked like everyone in line was able to be seated. Right when you enter, you see the Wagyu. We went into getting the gold set, which was way more than we could really eat. One order each of the Japanese A5 wagyu meats and one of the specialty dishes. We tried the wagyu bone marrow with toast. Everything else was all you could eat. The meat quality was excellent . There is a difference between the A5, but the Australian wagyu, which was unlimited, was still great. The broth was typical, and sauces were nice. Our server was excellent. She was always checking if we had everything we wanted. I will be going back.
First time here for happy hour, and wow, it’s such a fun setup. You’ve got unlimited veggies, drinks, ice cream—like, how could I not love that? Tried four types of wagyu, and the broth? Legit tasty, really rich but not overpowering. Oh, and the sukiyaki base—it just ties everything together. Wagyu nigiri was smooth and buttery too. The vibe felt cozy but lively, great for groups. Service was quick, which is always a win when you’re this hungry.
Food was great and worth the price! Service was amazing! Jackie really took care of our table and made our boy’s birthday special. Would definitely come back for the food and the service.
Top tier AYCE hot pot, high quality ingredients + amazing service, can't ask for much more. It was our first time at Mikiya, our server gave us a quick run down of the menu. We opted for the gold tier, which I thought was well worth the price. Make sure to get on the yelp waitlist early, I joined the waitlist for a party of 4 around 6:15 PM on a Saturday and got in around 7:45 PM. The hotpot is shared with the table, we went with the House Broth and Spicy Miso. The house broth was very light, with a subtle flavor. The spicy miso, was also very light, not as spicy as I expected. Which made me remember that it was Shabu Shabu, which traditionally the broth is on the lighter side, to let you focus and appreciate the quality of ingredients plus you also have dipping sauce. Over time the broth developed more rich and savory flavors as we cooked the meat, seafood, and veggies in it. The sauces and cold side dishes are self serve near the back. All the veggies were very fresh. They also have a self serve drinks, with milk tea, passion juice, guava juice, soda bar, etc. The milk tea was pretty good, had a strong tea flavor, not a lot of sugar either, which I liked. For the first round, we ordered all the special items that were one per person and the seafood platter. The meat were tender, dipped in the sauce, just amazing. The seafood was so fresh, I was a bit surprised. My favorite were the snow crabs, it was sweet and salty. I asked the server if I needed to cook it some more he recommended to be safe cook it for 2 mins. But, I would recommend 30 seconds, as the crab was already cooked After 30 seconds the texture starts to degrade. (It is plated with other raw seafood so there is a chance to get sick if not cooked thoroughly, eat at your own risk). For the all you can eat meat, my favorites were the A5 Wagyu brisket and the Australian Wagyu Chuck Ribeye. The Australian Wagyu shoulder cut was pretty gamey, it was fine for me, but everyone else on the table did not like it. Overall amazing experience, everything was top notch. It is a bit on the pricy side, but is well worth the price. I would definitely recommend to any hot pot lovers.
The service was perfect. All servers are really well trained. All the beef in the gold set were great. And there are various choices for vegetables as well. Snack bars, drinks, and ice cream were also good. The only disappointment was the seafood. Either the sweet shrimp or the seafood platter tasted so fresh on my visit. Hope the quality of seafood could be better.
The wagyu here is a total standout—A5 quality, rich, buttery, just melts perfectly. I’m really into the Happy Hour option lately, makes it so much easier to enjoy without committing to AYCE every time. They’ve also stepped up their sushi game big time, tons of variety now. Leo handled our table again with that same friendly vibe, super smooth service as always.
This place was packed for lunch at 11:40am on a weekday! Luckily we made reservation online and highly recommend you do the same too to avoid the wait. When you turn into the plaza, turn right immediately when you see Subway and L&L Hawaiian. Mikiya is tucked in the corner behind those two stores and it’s not easily spotted right away. Parkings were a bit tricky in front of the restaurant but there are ample free parkings available everywhere else in the plaza. You may need to walk but it is just 2-3 minutes of walking away. Immediately when I stepped inside, I was welcomed with a heartwarming fragrance of delicious hot pot and high quality meats. Both my friend and I acclaimed “It smells SUPER AMAZING in here!!!” A friendly server greeted us, quickly checked us in and led us to our spacious booth. On our way, we took a peek at the meat display area and the beverage station and were super impressed with how clean, neat and nice this place was. Within 10 minutes of being seated down, another server joined us and meticulously explained how it worked for us: 1. Basically there are 3 levels: silver, gold, and diamond levels, starting from $48 to $68 to $88, respectively. We picked the silver level and we had so much food that we could barely breathe afterwards. 2. You can order 2 meat dish per person each time. We enjoyed the Wagyu brisket the best and had the second order of it. 3. One dish per person from the specialty dishes. We opted for the wagyu bone marrow and wagyu nigiri. Those were both delicious though the bone marrow were a bit too garlicky for my taste. 4. Unlimited other dishes. We ordered sweet potato fries, tempura, fried chickens, and mini bun with condensed milk. All was tasty! After you ordered, feel free to explore the beverage, sauce and rice, and side dish stations. We were like kids in a candy store! We were over the moon the see milk tea option here and it was actually really nice! Veggie and side dish station was well stocked with fresh veggies. I love that they have the tong ho veggies. Our food arrived FAST! Time to DIG IN!! Honestly, I used to think this place was overrated as most of the highly rated places that I’ve been to recently. I loved how it proved me wrong. I was impressed with the meat quality, the way they presented their meat dishes. We have 1/2 house soup and 1/2 tomato soup for the hotpot and they were both equally tasty. My friend kept commented that now she understood why this place was crowded on a weekday for lunch. We ended our food adventure with delicious ice cream. Today they have the black sesame and strawberry flavors. The strawberry ice cream was super fresh while the black sesame was invitingly yummy. Overall, very pleasant experience. Nice ambience, great service and wonderful food. What more can you ask for? I’ll definitely come back and take my family here to try as well.
Love this place! The food is incredibly fresh and the selection is great. There are three pricing tiers, all with quality meats. Each includes a seafood plate, which they humbly describe as small, but it’s actually a good size. You can opt out, but I recommend keeping it. If you're on a budget, the lowest tier is still solid. It includes good cuts and access to Australian wagyu. The higher the tier, the more premium the meats, like Japanese wagyu, are available. I’ve tried all three on different visits and the highest tier is my favorite. Unlimited Japanese wagyu? Yes, please. There are unlimited appetizers, which are nice, but don’t fill up too early. The real highlight is the meat. Their soup bases are super flavorful. I used to love the tomato base, but the sukiyaki with pasteurized egg is next level. I was skeptical at first, but now I’m hooked. The veggie selection is smaller than places like Seapot, but still satisfying. Again, it’s really about the meat here. Sauces are decent, though not as varied as other spots. Their meat mince over rice is amazing, but pace yourself. Calpico on tap is a fun bonus, and the soft serve at the end hits the spot. Service is fantastic: attentive and respectful. The ambiance is clean and cozy. One heads-up: my very tall husband says the two-seater tables can be a bit tight. But if you’re on the shorter side, you’ll be totally fine. Oh, and if you plan on coming back multiple times a year, I recommend signing up for their membership for discounts!
What a great all you can eat option! The quality was really good. I really liked how balanced all of their portions are to each other. The menu is well thought out and not overwhelming. Service was very attentive without getting in the way of your experience. Worth checking out if you're in the area
If you are on a diet, stay away! I love the way you have to be close to put yourself on the wait list. We waited for about 30 min after putting our name down at peak dinner time. The food was great, everything we tried was good and tasty, the meat was tender and flavorful, sliced thin so you just need to dip it for a few seconds and it's good to go. I barely use the dipping sauce, the meat and broth was flavor enough. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The servers were attentative and had a pleasant and welcoming attitude. For health reasons and my waistline I don't think I will be a regular there, but definitely will be going back.
We came here on a Sunday morning at their opening hour and to my surprise there was already a line. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was top notch and our server Sara was very attentive. We opted for the all you can eat wagyu experience. There were 3 different sets from silver, gold, to diamond( highest tier). The gold set made the most sense for us. We ordered mostly the meats on the menu, was not a fan of the shoulder cut due to it being more gamey. The seafood was barely touched but nice that it came with the set and a variety as well. There was a self serve station for all the vegetables and carbs. The one downer was that we’d run out of table space fast with the continuous orders of meats but the servers did a great job with clearing the plates. They offered unlimited mini ice cream cups with many flavors to choose from (ube , mango , coffee , dulce leche etc). Overall we’d return again so we got an annual membership here.
Friendly staff and very fresh beef and seafood. The Sukiyaki pot was tasty, but some side dishes like bone marrow and beef tartar were just okay and could be skipped to focus on the main items. Despite the 90-minute limit, food was brought to the table quickly, and staff frequently checked in for refills. They also reminded us when time was almost up, suggesting us for a last order. Overall, it's a pretty good all-you-can-eat beef hot pot experience.
Came in during happy hour and it was so worth it! Best meat I've had in a while because the wagyu is just so good! As it was my first time I was a little lost in how I was supposed to eat all this😅I chose the sukiyaki and house broth base but before I had thought this would be similar to k-bbq. It wasn't until I was halfway done with the meat that I even realized that there was an additional area to grab vegetables and udon. Definitely recommend the sukiyaki base because the lighter house broth had no flavor really. The right base made everything else taste so good, loved the udon and mushrooms with the meat together. It just made it so good! The passion fruit/ guava drinks and strawberry/ black sesame ice cream hit just the spot to tidy me over 🤤🤗
Jackie was awesome! She was very attentive, and came to our table often to make sure everything was going well. I cannot express how thankful I am. Good job Jackie! 👍
We went on a Monday at 2pm and there was no wait. I've been wanting to go for a while but there is always a wait on weekends. This is the spot for all you can eat wagyu. The meat quality of the meat and presentation are great. You won't want to miss a single piece of the wagyu here. The sides, veggies, rice, curry dishes, drinks, sauce bar and ice cream are self-service. It's similar to Japan. We ordered half sukiyaki and half house broth. I've tried the spicy miso in the Houston location. All the broths are good and not salty, so I like them all equally. There is no where else that can match this hot pot place now. I thought the membership for $28 in Houston and was able to apply it here. If you love hot pot, the membership/rewards program is totally worth it. My guy Derek gave us the best service, very attentive and gave good recs. He recommended the grouper and it was a favorite of the day. We were taken care of and he deserves all the tips. The ambience of Mikiya is worth the money itself-- very clean and modern look. We got the Gold set meal, which I think is the best. Price point is a little high, but they can take all my money. It’s a great dining experience that can’t be found elsewhere in the Bay.
It’s our first time coming here, and I think I’ve found my new favorite restaurant! The quality of the meat and seafood were amazing, even if you just get the silver set. For everything you get, the price is super reasonable. Our waiter’s name was Derek, and he was quick, efficient, and friendly! Thanks for a great first experience. Definitely will be back again.
Good quality meat, thinking of getting the membership. I think gold tier was good enough for me since you still get to try 1 plate per person of each of the diamond tier meats. The unlimited cuts in the gold tier were tasty enough to me that I was fine just having one plate each of the higher quality wagyu. The cold side dishes were good too since I'm a fan of seafood.
My husband and I have been here twice this month, once with a group of friends for dinner, and the second time today for lunch. My husband does have the gold lifetime membership, which helped us give priority for reservations, and we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. I ended up getting the annual membership for myself so I could get a free meal later on for my birthday. The first time we came on a Friday night and Derek was our server. He was very nice and gave suggestions on which broth to choose. We went with the diamond menu, which allowed us to try all the limited specialty items with a bigger group. For the second visit, my husband and I decided to get the gold menu because we knew which specialty dish to get. Ajit was our server, and we are super grateful for the service we received today. He already had some sauces ready to give for our table since the sauce bar can get busy. He ordered all the meats that were limited for us to enjoy first and kept the meat coming. He also told us you can upgrade your menu after you receive the food if you change your mind. Food: If you enjoy Japanese A5 wagyu, get the diamond or gold menu. The ribeye was melt in your mouth and so freaking good. Gold menu is still a great option cause you can get unlimited A5 wagyu brisket. As for seafood, I would skip this or just ask for scallops next time. The first time we came here, my husband and a friend both got some food poisoning from the oysters. Definitely avoid the oysters if you can. For the specialty dish, our favorites are the bone marrow and wagyu nigiri. I looooove bone marrow, and it's one of the better ones I've had. Wagyu nigiri has fresh wasabi on it, and it's pretty good. Although the consistency wasn't always the same when we ordered a few rounds for the diamond menu. We got the fried shrimp tempura as an appetizer, which was hot, crunchy and delicious! For the broth, sukiyaki is the one to get. There's so much flavor that you don't even need to dip the wagyu in the sauce to eat it. Spicy miso was ok for us and we enjoyed the tomato broth by adding some sauce to it, and kept the veggies and noodles in the tomato to balance out with the sukiyaki. I personally love the green milk tea but this always seems to be low from the milk tea bar. I usually don't care for milk tea but this one is addicting! There is a good selection of ice cream if you have room for it when you're done with your meal. Ube is my favorite after trying all the different flavors. Service: Everyone we've encountered has been so nice. Even with all the craziness with people waiting outside, they do their best with giving you a smile and great customer service. While you're eating, there is someone who will walk by and take your empty plates and bowls away. They'll check your pot and refill the broth when it's running low. Parking: There are plenty of parking spots since this is located in a big plaza. This has become our new favorite ayce shabu spot and highly recommend it. Definitely get on the Yelp waitlist as soon as you can and plan around it so you don't get hangry. We'll be back soon!
Jackie was such a gem tonight—seriously, she made everything smooth and just easy. We had the sukiyaki with A5 wagyu, and wow, the meat was so tender it almost melted. The broth had this deep, comforting flavor that kept us going back for more. Also tried the wagyu nigiri—rich, buttery, and just perfectly balanced. The vibe felt cozy yet lively, and Jackie’s attention made it feel like we were the only table she had. Definitely asking for her next time!
My first visit to Mikiya was shortly after they opened. The food and service were decent, but a 45-minute wait past our reservation time left a bad taste, figuratively speaking. I wasn't sure I'd be back. I'm glad I gave it another shot. This time we came to celebrate a visiting friend, and Mikiya more than delivered. The menu has noticeably improved, we were seated promptly, and our server Zac was the kind of hospitality professional who makes a meal memorable. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing, his recommendations were spot on and genuinely elevated the whole experience. It's clear the team has put in real work since opening. I'm signing up for the membership and already looking forward to the next visit.
Stopped by for happy hour and, wow, it felt like a treat without breaking the bank. The wagyu? Thin, buttery, and melts in the broth—so clean and savory but doesn’t drown out the meat’s flavor. Loved that balance. Service was friendly but not overbearing, which I appreciate when you’re just trying to chill. Oh, and the vibe—casual but still has that nice touch of quality. It’s like getting a little fancy without committing to the whole AYCE thing. Honestly, pretty solid for a relaxed weekday indulgence.
Service was really solid here—Zac is super friendly and made everything so easy for us. The food? Omg, so good. I couldn’t stop with the wagyu nigiri; it just melts in your mouth. And the sukiyaki broth—wow, cozy but rich at the same time. Their veggie bar setup is kinda fun too, like you get to pick a little of everything. Oh, and the sweet shrimp? Absolute treat. Really nice vibe, especially for group dinners.
Another " hidden gem"!!! A very cute restaurant, contemporary & fun. Service was impeccable. We got seated right away. Didn't have to wait long to order. Our waiter, Leo, was very attentive and pleasant. Whenever we needed something, he was quick to bring it. Refilled our soup multiple times. Empty dishes were cleared up right away. We were there for the Happy Hour lunch. There is a section for veggies, ie, baby bok choy, pumpkin, tofu, carrots, gold bags, udon.. Another section for rice, 2 kinds of curry, and a condiment bar. The 3rd section was fruits, ie, watermelon, oranges, grapes, cantaloupe...and soft serve ice cream- black sesame and strawberry. Choice of broths. The meats were so fresh and delicious. * random pic of bathroom thrown in because I liked that i didn't have to worry about running out of TP.😂🤣 Also, baby changing table in the largest stall. DEF A MUST VISIT
Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House is an amazing spot for wagyu hotpot. The all-you-can-eat is worth it with the quality of the beef. The sauce and side bar is good and I love the fresh squeezed orange juice when it works. The seafood platter is great too. The staff are attentive and the service is smooth even during busy times. Get a membership, it's worth it. Personally I get the lowest level silver and it's already good. The higher levels come with more cuts of meat but I didn't find it as great of a value. Overall highly recommended!
Food was really good! All of the side dishes and not just the meat were solid. Jackie was an amazing server, incredibly attentive and patient. The service would make me come back!
I’ve been here a few times now, and I’m never disappointed. The meat is high quality and fresh tasting. The sides are great as well. My wife and I always feel well taken care of Leo’s been our server a couple of times, super quick to answer any questions with a smile. Don’t skip the ice cream machine! Four first-timers. Two boomers. Two millennials. One hot pot table… and we were seriously impressed. We had zero clue what we were doing walking in, but the staff broke everything down like total pros — explaining the broths, showing us how to order, how long to cook everything, what sauces to mix… the whole vibe was patient, fun, and zero judgment. Our boomer crew came in skeptical and left fully converted. And the food? So fresh. So flavorful. So worth accidentally overcooking a dumpling with a piece of meat or two while we figured it out. By the end we were tossing ingredients in like we’d been doing hot pot our whole lives. 10/10 experience. Delicious, interactive, weirdly bonding, and absolutely a must-go. Bring your friends, bring your parents, bring your appetite. 🔥🍲
Best A5 wagyu hotpot in the bay. I recommend you to choose gold package. Since it’s better than Silver, and it is still get all good part from platinum. Sea food is high class as well, but I like beef more. Only two small problems. 1. 90 min is a little bit rush for $$$ dinning experience. 2. The stove under the table is huge, so no room for leg, which will affect your seating position.
This is a restaurant we consider a once-a-year treat due to its relatively high price point. This was our second visit, and the restaurant offers three pricing tiers. Since we’re not big fans of seafood, we opted for the middle-tier option. I recommend ordering the meat slices gradually, as the non-frozen cuts tend to break apart easily due to how thinly they’re sliced. This slightly affects the texture, but the overall quality of the meat is excellent—tender, rich in marbling, and a true delight for Wagyu enthusiasts. The side dishes are self-serve and can be replenished as needed, though the selection is somewhat limited. One thing to note: if you visit during winter, the all-you-can-eat Häagen-Dazs option might not be available. Unfortunately, it wasn’t offered this time, unlike our last visit, which was a slight disappointment. Overall, this is a high-end restaurant worth visiting occasionally to indulge yourself, and it’s definitely an experience to savor.
Top notch service at this location! Food quality's great but also our server Jackie's amazing attentiveness made the whole dinner fantastic! 5/5 recommend and hope you get Jackie as your server 🤞
LEO is doing a great job! The A5 wagyu here? Insane. Like, melt-in-your-mouth kind of tender. I tried the wagyu nigiri and sukiyaki—both were just so rich and flavorful, felt like they didn’t need anything extra. Oh, and the vegetable bar? Surprisingly fresh for a “self-serve” setup; it balanced out the heaviness of the meat so well. Service was quick but not rushed, which I liked—gave me time to really enjoy everything without feeling overwhelmed. It’s definitely one of those spots you’d think about for a special dinner or office gathering.
Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House in Santa Clara is an esteemed all-you-can-eat Japanese hot pot establishment, celebrated for its exceptional Wagyu beef and engaging dining atmosphere. Situated at 3590 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95051, it is a proud member of the Chubby Group, offering a diverse selection of meat grades and distinctive broths. Regarding the Dining Experience and Pricing: The restaurant presents a tiered all-you-can-eat menu, with prices generally ranging from $55 to $98 per individual, contingent upon the chosen meat selection (for instance, Australian Wagyu versus Japanese A5 Wagyu). Menu Tiers: Patrons have the option to select from tiers such as Silver, Gold, or Diamond. The higher tiers feature premium cuts, including the exquisite Japanese A5 Wagyu ribeye. Time Limit: A standard dining duration of 90 minutes is allotted per party. Broths: Notable selections encompass Sukiyaki (highly recommended with a pasteurized egg dip), Spicy Miso, House, and Japanese Tomato. Self-Serve Bar: This includes an unlimited assortment of vegetables, appetizers (such as Wagyu curry rice), seafood, and a comprehensive sauce station.
Solid hot-pot experience overall! Really great selection of meats, appetizers and sides. We felt a bit rushed at the end though. Also, we could not try the crab legs we cooked, because they did not have any tools to crack them.
Jackie provided exceptional service. Super friendly and thoroughly took care of us during our time eating. Food was tasty, broth was tasty, super fresh
Such a great Japanese Wagyu hot pot experience! The quality of the meat was outstanding — the wagyu was beautifully marbled, tender, and literally melted in my mouth. Being able to enjoy it as an all-you-can-eat option made it even better. The broth selections were flavorful without overpowering the ingredients, and everything tasted fresh — from the vegetables to the seafood and side dishes. The dipping sauces were also well balanced and easy to customize. Service was attentive and efficient, even during busy hours. Staff kept checking in and refilling plates quickly without making us feel rushed. If you love premium hot pot and high-quality wagyu, this place is absolutely worth it. Definitely coming back!
Tasty, really. The A5 wagyu Melted in my mouth—premium quality, for sure. And that sukiyaki broth is Rich, but not overwhelming. Felt balanced. Oh, and the veggies from the bar were so fresh, made everything better. Service was great too—friendly and attentive without hovering, you know? Place had a nice, relaxed vibe—good for a group hangout. Vina (our server) made things smooth; she really knew her stuff.
Went for a friend's birthday and I'll say it was indeed fantasic. Their beef bowls and curry are surprisingly great. Went with their gold tier and overall it was a good time. Meat was good, service was pretty quick, and their sides of sushi are fresh. Would go every now and then again for sure.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Mikiya Wagyu Shabu in Santa Clara. The food was excellent, especially the wide variety of high-quality beef cuts. The wagyu was beautifully marbled, very fresh, and absolutely delicious in the shabu broth. The seafood and sides were also well presented and flavorful, making the meal feel well balanced. For the quality of food, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are satisfying. Service was attentive and friendly, and everything was explained clearly, which made the experience even better. The overall atmosphere was comfortable and enjoyable for a relaxed meal. We really enjoyed our time at Mikiya and will definitely come back again. Highly recommended for wagyu and shabu lovers! 🥩🍲
The service here? So good—like, genuinely friendly and super quick. And the sukiyaki broth? Wow, that flavor had me hooked right away. The A5 wagyu was buttery and rich, just melts in your mouth. Oh, and their veggie bar is such a nice touch, fresh and plenty of options. It’s an all-you-can-eat spot, but nothing feels rushed or messy—just chill vibes. Honestly, one of those places where the food and staff together make the whole thing feel special.
Although there wasn't much meat, the quality was excellent because it was very fresh. The seafood was also incredibly fresh. The buffet selection was quite extensive, and I really liked the "lucky bag" (a surprise assortment of items). Vegetables and fruits were free, and there was also freshly squeezed orange juice (it was truly freshly squeezed! If I weren't trying to cut down on sugar, I could have just drunk the orange juice). There was also milk tea and ice cream. I will definitely come back.
Mikiya is great. Without a doubt I will be regularly returning. The wagyu is excellent. The sauce bar is great. The drink selection was good. The soft serve ice cream was decent, much better than other places. The side dishes were great despite a smaller selection. Luckily, with everything else being great quality, I think that this is dismissible, personally. They also have the option for one higher tier meat selection per person. Ordering was done entirely through servers which I normally dislike, but the servers were fast, attentive, and super nice. Came on a Sunday at 5pm with no wait but the place quickly filled up with people waiting outside. The only places that have room for improvement: the toast for the bone marrow (like another said) could be toasted more. The floors are slippery in some parts, mainly under tables where your feet rest. Despite these caveats, I honestly think that if this place didn’t change a thing it’d still be worth 5 stars. Can’t wait to come back.
The BEST!!! I went for happy hour, and it was so worth it!!! On weekdays Mikiya has happy hour during lunch, and after 9pm. I can get 4 plates of high quality beef and unlimited vegetables!! The appetizer section has my fav clams and octopus. They also have good fruits and curry wagyu, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Highly highly recommend, everything is good quality good value
This was our second visit and it was just as good as the first time! The wagyu beef quality is amazing. They also have tons of options to choose from, including snacks, drinks, and sauces, which makes the whole experience really fun. Our waiter Minh P took care of us both times, and he’s honestly one of the most attentive and thoughtful servers we’ve had. Really appreciate his great service! Highly recommend this spot if you love hot pot and good wagyu.
Had a fantastic team dinner at Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House. Our group of 11 was seated at two separate but nearby tables and everything ran smoothly. The ayce wagyu shabu was excellent with top-quality meat, rich and flavorful broths, and fast, attentive service that kept all the sides and platters coming. We also enjoyed the wagyu nigiri and sweet shrimp, which were both fresh and delicious. Despite being a large group split between tables, the staff was organized and delivered meats quickly. Highly recommend!
Ever since this spot opened, I’ve been curious to try and finally had the opportunity to go here. We made reservations at 3:30PM, checked in, and were seated around 3:40PM. Their AYCE menu includes the Silver, Gold, or Diamond Menu. My boyfriend and I opted for the Gold Menu. For our two broths, we chose the Spicy Miso broth and the House broth. I was a bit disappointed in the flavor of the broth since it was a bit more bland than I would expect. It felt like it was missing something. The meats were really soft and tender. My favorite was the Japanese A5 Wagyu Chuck Ribeye. That one was one order per person on the menu, but it was perhaps the softest meat out of the other meats there. The Japanese A5 wagyu brisket was also one of my top favorites. This spot has a self serve bar where you can get your veggies and make your own sauce. There’s free house milk tea and other juices and soda that you can get. For dessert, there’s unlimited ice cream from Haagen Daz if you eat there, but if you take it for to-go then there will be a charge. Service was very attentive and quick. They really pay attention ti their customers!
This restaurant is an all you can eat buffet style for 90 minutes. We had ALOT of beef and seafood. It was delicious. The service was quick and excellent. The only complaint I had was that they are trying to make this place very upbeat with LOUD music. It was so loud that I could not hear people sitting on the other side of our table well. Turn the music down just a bit and all will be very good :)👍
Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House offers a unique all-you-can-eat wagyu shabu experience, with four tiers of curated menus to choose from. We snagged a reservation on a lucky weekday night, having heard it's usually tough to get in. While their website emphasizes walk-ins, they do have limited online reservations through Yelp. The price point ranges from $45 to $98 for the top tier, all offering unlimited shabu shabu within a 90-minute window. It's worth noting that we ended up staying longer and were politely informed of the time limit eventually. Each tier builds upon the previous one, offering more premium cuts of wagyu. We opted for the Gold tier, which included a selection of Japanese A5 wagyu cuts like Chuck ribeye and shoulder, alongside M9+ Australian wagyu and seasonal seafood like pearl grouper. Plus, all tiers come with unlimited drinks, veggies, rice, ice cream, and even minced wagyu for DIY dipping sauces. Here's where the experience became a bit uneven. The broths we chose - house sauce and spicy miso - were surprisingly bland and lacked depth of flavor. This was a major letdown considering the focus on high-quality meat. Thankfully, the quality of the wagyu itself mostly shone through. Most cuts were excellent, with just one being a bit chewy. The service, however, was fantastic. Our server, Minh, was friendly, attentive, and kept our table clear throughout the meal. While some menu items impressed, like the wagyu nigiri being superior to the slightly dry foie gras, the lackluster broths required heavy reliance on the dipping sauce to elevate the experience. Another point to consider - the restaurant had a strong, unpleasant smell upon entering, particularly noticeable near the entrance. It was bad enough that we waited outside while our table was ready. The interior itself was modern and stylish, with a unique pink boba truck as a decorative centerpiece. Overall, Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House offers a chance to indulge in high-quality wagyu, but the experience is brought down by the underwhelming broths and initial strong odor With some adjustments, this could be a truly exceptional spot. If you go, be prepared to create your own flavor experience with the sauces.
Great quality meats! It was fun to try out all the different cuts and meats and compare them. Some we're rich and fatty, others we're beefy and more chewy. It was a indulgent time and the price feels fair given that it is AYCE high quality beef. The appetizers like the tartare and the bone marrow were just ok. Our tartare was still quite cold and didn't have much seasoning and bone marrow was also just bone marrow without much other seasoning or contrast. The seafood platter was also quite large and I would've preferred if there were smaller options for that since I did want to try it, but the whole platter was quite large.
There are a lot of people waiting outside. We booked our spot on Yelp two hours ago and got seated quickly at the restaurant. We ordered the gold Wagyu sets. The A5 Wagyu beef tasted great, but you can only order one plate per person. The seafood platter was fresh, and the veggies and drinks at the bar were good too. Our waiter, Thomas, was helpful and made sure we got what we needed on time. The restaurant was a bit chaotic, and it's kind of expensive. But if you love meat and eat a lot, you'll like it here.
AYCE Wagyu Japanese A5 Yes please... I was excited to learn Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House was coming to Santa Clara, I believe they are a chain that started in So Cal. I tried dining here before, when they first opened. The wait was ridiculous. I was quoted 2 hours, but in reality it turned out to be around 3.5 hours..so that didn't happen. They hype had died down a bit now, making reservations and wait times more reasonable. I most definitely recommend checking out Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House if you get a chance. The quality of meats is very evident. The venue is bigger than it looks from the outside. There is also outdoor seating as well. I'm sure it works well int he warmer months. The parking lot is not the greatest. The main parking out in front fills up fast and the plaza has several other businesses, so parking is a bit challenging during peak hours. The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful, no issues, service on point. All the meats were excellent, just as expected. We could taste the difference in quality and textures. The Broths were excellent as well. #WagyuEats: ~ SEAFOOD PLATTER - 5/5 A must order for Seafood lovers. A little bit of everything. This in itself is a lot of food. ~ SNACKS: FRY MINI BUN - 4/5 Just to be clear...this is dessert. It's sweet, not savory. Order this towards the end of your meal ~ WAGYU TARTARE - 1/5 Hard PASS on this one! It was the WORST Beef Tartare I ever had. They might had an off day on this one. Part of it was so cold it felt like was still partly frozen. Also the Beef was in chopped up cubes. Should call this Raw Beef Cube bowl, as this was NOT Beef Tartare. ~ SWEET SHRIMP SASHIMI - 3.5/5 They give you the whole shrimp...I thought it was a bit odd, that the heads weren't fried or taken off... ~ WAGYU BONE MARROW - 4/5 A solid Bone Marrow dish, fatty and flavorful, just as it should be. ~ COLD SIDES: - SEAWEED SALAD - 5/5 Perfect seaweed salad. Simple and refreshing. - SPICY CLAM - 5/5 I don't know what's in here... the flavor is brilliant. Savory delicious clams. - TAKO - 5/5 Marinated in Wasabi (probably Horseradish) Still delicious! Can't forget the desserts, that is if you still have room. There is also Soft Serve and Juice available as well. #Dessert: ~ Ice Cream: Matcha - 3/5 This was OK. I had better Matcha Ice Cream before. ~ Ube - 4/5 Sold Ube flavor. ~ Black Sesame - 4.5/5 Probably some of the best Black Sesame Ice Cream I had. ~ Mango - 2/5 Not very good, tasted funny or artificial. Can't wait to return...
Super welcoming people here who make your experience fantastic. The quality of the beef is the best we’ve had in the Bay Area. I don’t know what was what - it all tasted good. The seafood was tasty too. One thing, they no longer serve the sliced chicken, so if you don’t eat red meat, be aware. The side dishes and veggies were very fresh and the ice cream and orange juice was a nice end of meal treat. Their fruits were a good variety as well.
The food is good. Not a lot of selection of veggies and sauces but good quality is more important to me. The meats are soft and tender but when you cut it so thin, everything will be tender. Japanese wagyu was good, Australia one is more meaty taste. I am here for the experience because all you can eat doesn't mean you have to stuff yourself silly 😂 Traver was our server. He was attentive and explained well on how it works. I am pretty sure management instruct employees to ask customers to write reviews.
Great service from Sara and food was pretty good. If you come at opening, it was only less than 15 minutes wait. Sara did an excellent job on differentiating each Tier. She was also great in coming by and placing reorders. She was really attentive and was seriously so on it! So broth wasn't that great, not much flavor. We got Spicy Miso and House. Not really spicy either. After you eat the variety of meats, they all start tasting the same. The oyster was not good, probably the ones from the jar. You can definitely get your money's worth with the Gold Tier for $78. Diamond would only be worth it if you can really eat A LOTTT. But then again, you have only 90 minutes and they are pretty on it for the timing. They'll give you last call about 20-30 minutes. Love that drinks and dessert are also unlimited. The Milk Tea Bar wasn't available but they had Assam Milk Tea Dispenser on the side. Overall service definitely was top notch and was better than the food itself!
We had a great experience at Mikaya overall. The service was fantastic; friendly, attentive, and our server was funny. The meat quality is solid and very tender. That said, for hotpot, you really don’t need Wagyu. The Silver set is more than enough, super tender and pretty marbled. I honestly can’t imagine doing the Wagyu set because it would probably be too fatty. Big plus on the drink selection: milk tea, hot tea, Calpico, and fresh-squeezed orange juice, all nice touches. The scallop and abalone were very fresh and tender, though I wish they gave us more of those instead of the shrimp… definitely a bit of a shrimp overload. The ebi shrimp in particular wasn’t as fresh. I really enjoyed the sides like the octopus and tako wasabi, but overall there weren’t enough sides and they kept running out. The sesame sauce leaned a little sour, though I appreciated that they had Thai chilis available. The two curry was delicious. Don’t miss out! A few things to improve: the bread for the bone marrow needs to be toasted more, the floor was constantly slippery (felt like I was sliding instead of walking), and there’s no proper vent for the steam..so they leave the back door open, which made it pretty chilly. Replace sides more often. All that said, the food quality and service carry this place. With a few tweaks, Mikaya could easily go from good to great.
Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House delivers a premium Japanese hot pot experience with beautifully marbled wagyu sliced to perfection. The beef truly melts in your mouth once simmered in the broth, and the house-made dipping sauces—from citrusy to savory—bring out its richness without overpowering. The broth options, ranging from light kombu to more robust flavors, set the stage for fresh vegetables and seafood that complete the spread. Service is warm and informative, with staff guiding guests through cooking times and which makes the experience approachable even if it’s your first time with shabu-shabu. The space itself feels minimalist and calm, letting the quality of the food shine. With that said, they did missed a couple of orders due to kitchen issues. One thing to note: dining is limited to 90 minutes. While that’s generally enough time to enjoy the meal at a comfortable pace, you’ll want to be mindful when savoring each course. Given the focus on quality wagyu and thoughtful presentation, best shabu experience!
Beef is premium, no doubt! The seafood platter was satisfying too with jumbo tiger shrimp and scallops. The sukiyaki soup base is the most recommended. The ponzu base was bland, so it might be better for seafood instead of meat. The server was very attentive, food is served quickly and accurately. I gave 3 stars because i was highly expecting the rock fish! However, at ~$100/person, they simply said the fish was not available, and replaced with cheapest kind of fish fillet instead. The price remains the same.
I wanted to share an honest review. I unfortunately had food-related stomach issues after dining here, including diarrhea later the same day. I understand this can sometimes happen and may not affect everyone, but it did make the experience less enjoyable for me. I hope the restaurant continues to pay close attention to food handling and preparation.
The food was delicious, but we felt rushed toward the end of our meal. About 25 minutes before our 90-minute limit, we were reminded of the time, and then it seemed like we were reminded every five minutes, even though we had stopped ordering and were just trying to finish our food. While I understand the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday night and people were waiting, it still made us feel a bit like numbers on a page rather than guests. We were even brought the bill and asked for payment before we had finished eating, and then continued to be asked to leave every few minutes afterward.
First time trying Mikiya! Made a reservation for earlier that day. Two of us had: silver wagyu set $55/per person $5.90 for each sapporo bottle Meat comes out super fast. Food itself was good. Vina was a friendly server. A few of the downsides: -realized later we didn't end up getting the wagyu bone marrow...so that was super unfortunate -sauce line and layout of the items is super inefficient Parking could be tough in immediate parking lot, but plaza parking should be easy. Overall, on the pricier side..but could be a good spot if you have the membership and remember to get everything you ordered haha.
I came here for Lunch to meet up with my friends for the first time and it was a nice experience. Definitely enjoyed the vintage traditional vibes. Spacious seatings indoor and outdoor! Assorted Drinks! Milk Teas, sodas, ice water included. Fresh ingredients, lots of fresh vegetables, delicious Japanese Spicy Miso broth! Honestly it was a bit pricey for me. 55 bucks for Lunch is definitely on a higher range. That why Sea pot Hot Pot and Q Korean bbq are still my go-to places for Hot Pots. All you can eat, More seafood, and way more ingredients for your bucks! Plus it’s 20 dollars cheaper lmao
The food was actually very good, but the service was really disappointing. Jane had a really bad attitude. She forgot things we asked for multiple times, and splashed something onto our table while clearing the next table without apologizing. The poor service really took away from the overall experience. Maybe she should take some time to learn what basic waitressing is.
