Squash, miso egg, red pepper Gin, fish were some of my favorite dishes from this meal. Nice casual atmosphere.
I really enjoyed the vibe of this place, especially upstairs in the lounge. They have a great drinks selection, too.
It's definitely one of my go-to places in Santa Cruz. Great selection of small plates, delicious drinks, cozy, laid-back atmosphere, great place to talk to people.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We at dinner on a couch by a fireplace with great drinks.
Great food and better drinks. Service can be fast or slow. Brunch by pop up is excellent.
Great bartenders, great selection, great cocktails. Loved the cozy atmosphere on the upper level
Super tasty drinks and food in a nice ambiance. When weather is warm it's nice to sit outside on roof/outdoor area.
Awesome cocktails and a very tasty menu. Seating varies from intimate couch spaces to tables, indoor and on the second story deck.
There was a really good DJ playing downstairs. We sat upstairs and got delicious cocktails. You also have to get the truffle fries!
Super cozy, home like place, with delicious coctails and desserts. Hslloween themed decor made experience even better. One of my top picks in Santa Cruz from now on.
We should all be so lucky as to have 515 around the corner. If you need to be out quickly to make a scheduled event, let them know as you arrive; otherwise, kick back, go with the flow, have another drink (great non-alcoholic cocktails, too).
Upscale fun drinks (each has a fun saying) and good tapas. It's a small place with a few seating areas. Nice folks :)
Great drinks and food with a warm comfortable lounge style arrangement seating with a kick ass bar! Love the staff, friendly and sexy!
Happy hour food and drinks out on the patio was perfect on a warm Saturday afternoon. Fun and friendly staff.
Great food, classic cocktails, an inviting, unpretentious space with music from a time period long gone. Authentic and worth a visit.
Best artisan drinks and truffle fries. Amazing vibes and atmosphere, with a fireplace, outdoor patio, and indoor movie projection.
Upstairs is the best for meeting people at adjoining tables, maybe sharing a few dishes and drinks. Great atmosphere.
Great cocktails, cool vibe, friendly and accommodating service, hot and tasty food. What else do you want in a place??
We are rebuilding the restaurant from the foundation up. Walk by and see the construction project as we move along. This is handmade by one person, one set of hands.
The bartenders upstairs are awesome and know how to make a good drink! The rest of the staff can be friendlier and should be more accomodating.
Natalie! Natalie! Natalie! The BEST server! Ask for her! And just chill! They are busy and humans just like you and me! Wednesday night date night at 515 is the place to be! With Natalieeee!
This is best place in Santa Cruz for cocktails. Bartenders know exactly what they are mixing up and so well balance. Love it!!
Excellent service, tasty. Refreshing Bloody Mary w cucumber infused vodka. "Not poison" omelette, delicious!
Creative cocktails and friendly service. Food was good though we'd appreciate more vegetarian options
Cant wait to go back!! Creative, high quality dishes and drinks and a wide variety, plus I absolutely love the atmosphere! 💗
This place has charm. Great cocktials and excellent service. A bit pricey perhaps, but the atmosphere was warm and freindly. They were showing Hitchcok movies over this past Halloween weekend. Nice. They will make you any cocktail you can name and several you can't.
This place has amazing craft cocktails and a completely diferent atmosphere and the decor is unique. our bartender was the funniest person we've met on our trip... We still laugh randomly thinking back about something she said ... Its been 3 days lol
Great drinks, live music, fire on the patio, and fried chicken if you're lucky. Cool crowd as well. A favorite among grad students, chic folks, and generally artsy people over 30.
This little bar is awesome, but little is kinda of a misnomer. Always shifting you can dine and/or drink on either floor. Quick drinks at the downstairs bar but the mixologist is in the upstairs bar. On a hot day I like the Cucumber Rhubarb Cooler but Come early or make a reservation for a seat on the deck or one of their tables or hope you can get a seat at the bar. If not, you can still eat in the lounge area. Lots of good food to share like the Truffled Fries, but my favorite is the Pan Seared Salmon.
Still one of my favorite places to get a cocktail. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the cocktails superb. Comfortable furniture and a chill vibe top off a great visit.
515 Kitchen & Cocktails might be the best cocktail bar in Santa Cruz. There are two bars here, you can dine downstairs at the smaller bar or head upstairs for a more lounge-like setting with a larger bar. They have a great menu with fun cocktails, small plates, and entrees. This also might be the only place in Santa Cruz to serve Pappy Van Winkle bourbon.
A bit on the small side, but they've got really good food, creative drinks and a very festive atmosphere! The hot spot is upstairs, with the cocktail bar being everyone's preferred seating, so they can watch the bar tenders woo everyone with their skills!
with a place with cocktails in there name you better hope they are good,a nd they are and some inventive ones too. have happy hour, but love their upstairs outdoor seating. fun and chill setting.
I always have a great time at the 515. It's our prefered spot downtown. Service is a little slow but the dj's are great and ambiance is really nice. Relaxing and adult without being stuffy. A nice diverse mix of folks too.
Bartenders actually using mixology... it's a lost art and a nice thing to see coming back around. This is a real hipster joint, but the cocktails, service, and food is great. A definite, must go.
Love this place! A must visit! Great food and drink selections. Recommend to make a reservation in advance of you would like a table or seat outside in the balcony in front of the fireplace.
Arrived last night at 10:23pm and apparently the kitchen was no longer able to accommodate us ordering “large plates” by the time our server got to us at 10:30pm on the dot. This was a blessing in disguise though as the small plates were enough for 3 people to share. We actually ordered more than we needed! Here are the highlights: pork belly, green beans and the side of spicy kimchi fried rice (caution- when they say spicy they done mean it). Only lowlight was the Mac and cheese: creamy but the Mac was over cooked and the cheese was a bit flavorless. It was my wife’s birthday and we had just drove in from SF so this place being open late, serving well executed late night grub AND pumping out a banging and varying music playlist was an absolute godsend. The doorman checking IDs gave her a nice “Happy Birthday” greeting and our server Ell(ie/a) hooked us up with some bomb ice-cream sandos. Shoutout to Krist(a/ie) for keeping us hydrated and both for the constant attention. We will be back for more boilermakers and maybe a large plate or two if we are literally starving - I’m sure they’ll be enough to stock a hotel fridge with.
This place has great drinks. From what I've heard, it is considered one of the best places in SC to get cocktails. When we go we usually get appetizers and drinks and have a great time.
I love the hamburger at 515, with crispy truffled fries, but last night I broke from my usual and had their special fish, a halibut, which is not my favorite dish. It blew my mind, so tenderly prepared, flakey and juicy, and so flavorful with cherry tomatoes and a light chimichurri sauce and perfectly set fingerling potatoes. Superb, and only 23 bucks.
Really excellent lounge with creative / tasty cocktails and great food. The atmosphere is really vintage - they have black and white movies playing in the background. Would definitely go back
This is one of a small handful of decent restaurants here in Santa Cruz. The food is on par with other favorites, Soif, Ristorante Avante, Oswald, Gabriella. Slightly less expensive than some, with moments of slow/overwhelmed kitchen. Their Sunday brunch is a treat.
Love the ambiance. After long day of rides and games my kids and I wanted a warm meal. The food here was perfect and convenient. Thank you for staying open late.
Great place for local specialty cocktails. Our server was terrific and introduced us to Venus gin, encouraged us to check out the distillery, and gave us a personalized experience! I would highly recommend stopping by!
We stopped here for cocktails before dinner and they were great. They also have a happy hour that's excellent. Wait staff was friendly, great for a quick drink and some good vibes.
Always one of my “go-to’s” when downtown. Amazing cocktails. Two of my favorites are A Quarter Past Five and Fire at Sea. They have some decent appetizers like the Truffle Fries. Give em a try. A good place to end the night downtown with the wife after a movie or something.
We are from Oregon... my husband brought me down for a vacay. We stopped by and the service was quick and accomodating. Compared to the rest of California...we were pleasantly surprised with smiles and quick service. Suggestions: Due to COVID -19, I understand that there are many restrictions...but as I was sitting in the dining area outside, my husband and I observed multiple people walking by this establishment, with its updated decor without giving it a second thought. I think with a little bit of music, not loud, it would have given the place a less empty feel. The food was great. Definitely try their Truffle fries and 515 Margarita. Would come back in a heartbeat. I think staff should be wearing a uniform...but it is Santa Cruz. :)
I would definitely come here more often if it weren't so pricey, bit if you're willing to shell out some extra dough, you won't be disappointed. All of the appetizers are AMAZING and the specialty cocktails are always fun to sort through. Wish they were a bit larger for the price though...
If you feel like having sth really delicious, ask for truffle french fries (they are part of the old menu but with a special wink and nod, you can have a waiter bring them out for you). Oh, and their cocktails are delicious too.
Wonderful bar and great Asian appetizers such as their version of Lumpia, and their version of Korean fried chicken. Their Korean fried chicken was So Crispy and Crunchy! It was soooo yummy! They have great drinks too! I recommend the "Ain't life Grand" it was a nice smokey whiskey drink. We sat on the patio which had heat lamps. Their patio is dog friendly. They have restrooms. Staff incredibly friendly.
Great atmosphere, nice people, fun music. Great food, great drinks. High on the price side, but a great place to go once in a while with friends! Nice restaurant downstairs and a really cool Lounge upstairs. Couches and comfy seats and a really nice outdoor area. They are really fun. They bring you your check in an old book from the 70s. You always get a different book.
Great cocktails, nice seating upstairs! Tequila for me, Wine for her. Truffle fries were tasty 😋

This is where I go when I want a good cocktail made well. If you get a good bartender they'll be able to make you most cocktails, even off menu. One of my favorite drinks is the Negroni, they've got a menu with various twists on it but they make the classic well here. Their drinks are pricey, but made well. I've never ordered food here, so I can't speak on it. But they definitely do have food, and I've heard it's quality. The staff is awesome here also, fun group of people. I once showed up kinda early in the day, sat at the downstairs bar, and ordered a drink next to some other people. Quickly I realized that I had sat down with a bunch of employees before their shift, and they were a lot of fun. Shout-out to Charlotte and Camille, it's always a pleasure to see them when they're working.
Hands down one of my favorites places in Santa Cruz. Food is always fantastic and flavorful, I highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken and Dragon Fries. The Kiwi Sesame Salad and Wasabi Deviled eggs were also good. Cocktails are always innovative and delicious- the Jinx Monsoon is one of my favorites, the Wallflower is also quite good. If you're feeling adventurous, try the Cocktail of the Moment. Love the balcony seating, too.
Overall the service was good and the food and drinks were great. They did a good job with masking and sanitation. We sat outdoors with the heater and it was really pleasant. Food was good and it wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night. The 515 margarita was great too. We will come back for sure.
Talk about a place to get wonderful cocktails! The Jinx Monsoon is delightful. I also recommend the Alibi and the Ain't life grand. Georgette makes amazing cocktails and she is an absolute delight to watch behind the bar! Every bartender here is! They are all amazingly skilled and can give WONDERFULL recommendations. The food here is pretty great too a favorite of mine is the Pork Belly. you can't go wrong here.
Actually went twice in one week, the food at 515 was so good. The first time I had the trout stuffed with greens on risotto, the second time a seared salmon on orzo. Both were super fresh and yummy. The staff were friendly, and it was fun to sit out on the deck by the fire. Definitely will become a regular.
Despite the hard times we are in right now it is still striving to bring the best food and drinks in Santa Cruz. If you have never been there it's definitely worth it to stop by, if not for the cocktails then definitely the food. The worst I can say is that it's not open long enough to get the full enjoyment of what they can provide and it can fill up VERY quickly, that aside, if you are looking for a good drink, a good meal or a pleasant evening with friends/family I can't think of a better place to go.
Hip upstairs spot for creative cocktails, solid beer choices, and a well-prepared and curated menu. Flavors of both food and drinks are clearly balanced and complement each other. The staff are delightful. I'll be going back!
I was lucky enough to spend Valentine's here. Arrived late with no reservation- staff was warm and accommodating, got us a great table upstairs/outside within minutes. The drinks were great- the food was absolutely Incredible. Probably the best risotto I've ever had. Kale Salad & sweet potato fries were delicious as well. The atmosphere was wonderful. I felt like I was in the trendy Bushwick (Brooklyn) or Berlin with the mismatched antique chairs & tables and the beautiful crowd of all ages. The grand finale was the bill. I couldn't believe our meal was so affordable. We decided to order everything all over again on our way out haha. They usually don't do takeout but they made an exception. Finished Valentines with Risotto and Champagne in bed. I'd recommend this place to anyone special. 10/10
Went there for a semi nice night out on valentines eve with my girlfriend. We sat upstairs/outside. Very “cozy” feel inside and out. If you don’t like being in close proximity to people, here’s your warning. The staff was pleasant, enthusiastic and attentive.
Great bang for the buck! My friend and I had cocktails...ALL.AMAZING AND CREATIVE...apps, entrees and desserts and spent $150. Yes we like to dine and often dine on the other side of the hill so not always worried about the all mighty dollar. We love a great experience and great f&b. We will be back!

The first waitress we had was lovely and the food delightful. The second waitress had a loud potty mouth regarding her personal life for all to hear but she was nice to us.
Very cool vibe. Old movies playing in the bar on the wall, dim lighting and very good food. Mushroom linguini is delicious. Great for dates.
Pretty awesome cocktails here. I like the quarter past 5 (Their version of an old fashioned). Expect to spend a fair amount on the drinks however.
Fun cocktails! Menu has changed since we first began going... Somewhat Asian infused now, miss their secret fried chicken nights!
Menu not as great as it used to be but still good. Great comfortable atmosphere and great liquor/drink selection.
Great outdoor balcony. Truffle fries are delicious and they have a lot of good cocktails.
Delicious food! We really enjoyed the pork belly....yummy! Our burgers were very flavorful and enjoyed the truffle fries! Great cocktail menu!
Great food, good drinks, warm and beautiful atmosphere but seating is tight. The space is a little small so pretty "intimate" but I imagine that folks looking for ADA-friendly venues would be disappointed with 515.
Best spot in Santa Cruz (even though I haven't been here long). Great chill atmosphere; feels like you're in your own awesome basement with friends. And good food; only place that serves food late.
The 515 is the nicest cocktail bar in Santa Cruz, with an excellent selection of house drinks, and an extensive whisk(e)y list. Service is friendly, helpful, and efficient, and the upstairs is particularly cozy. Only downsides? It can be a bit cramped and loud, especially at peak times, and good luck getting into the bathrooms if so! I'd highly recommend going on a slow night when you can have a nice spot upstairs for a couple drinks and a quiet conversation with a friend.
Small bar upstairs with one really attentive bartender, when I went for cocktails. He made recommendations that were perfectly concocted. The fries were just ok. There's also couches and it made the place feel like a cozy living room with a fire place.
Cocktail menu is awesome! Extremely creative and tasty drinks. Also the decor and general vibe of the place feel like you are chilling in your coolest friend's living room.
Awesome cocktail, great liquor and wine list. 515 is a great place to have some drinks and share some small plates. The environment is very mellow, The patio is fabulous but the longe setting inside is great as well.
Visited here during fall for the restaurant week special and loved it. We really enjoyed the bread pudding and the oxtail stew on this visit and the presentation was sharp. Although the food was really rich, it was really good. It was good enough that it warranted a second trip back with my family, but this second trip lost it at least a star. We ordered the same thing. For the oxtail stew, whle it tasted fine, it was sloppy and the mash was too soaked in the stew. On the other hand, the bread pudding was much worse. We must have gotten a corned piece or something because it was very hard and almost stale rather than soft, warm, and chewy like it was the first time. Both times I went the service was gracious and quick and definately will warrant a visit in the future. I would recommend over other downtown locations.
The outdoor seating was heated and protected overhead from elements. The table style was awkward for sitting next to my husband, but they were open to moving people around if you don't like the table. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. I was disappointed that the indoor seating was not open. I really love the vibe inside and hope that indoor seating will return soon. We mostly had the vegetarian options - peanut noodle bowl (delicious flavor, tangy lime, scrumptious), grilled veggie plate (the mushrooms were so good!), and Dragon Fries (delicious, spicy, and fish flakes are Bonita tuna). The drinks are always excellent, strong, and unique. My husband enjoyed the Cinder and Smoke (he enjoys spicy and smoke), and I had the Quarter After Five (it was a beautiful mix of orange and bourbon). Great place for a date night. I don't recommend taking kids here, the menu is designed for a mature palate.
This place seems very trendy and hipster. The drinks are very good. The menu includes truffle fries and pork belly along with a burger. It is nice and not typical beach or bar food.

This was one of the few places where you could get high and food and quality craft cocktails in the area. We went here frequently before COVID. On Halloween we decided to do a drive by and check out their outdoor seating. Every table was full but their tables were far enough apart that we thought we would give it a try. We are so glad that we did! We only had one person approach us the entire time in that was just our server. People were not wandering around and if they were up they had their masks on. It was so great to have our 1st craft cocktail since February! They even do QR Codes For the food and drink menu so that you are not touching any public menus! The menus are limited which I am hoping will change. They did have some great specials. Unfortunately the fried chicken that we got was burnt. We did mention it to the server but we were so hungry and so happy to be there we did not want to wait for a fresh plate. Given the circumstances of them trying to do business we really feel like they were a comfortable place to eat.
Great cocktails, nice atmosphere. A good place to go for drinks and appetizers if you feel like getting dressed up for a girls' night or casual date. Their truffle fries are maybe the best thing on the menu.

Overall it was nice, but everything was over priced. The waitress was super nice and the food was good, but still not quite what I was expecting for the price.
20 minutes for a single drink when the place was only slightly busy seemed a little long. But the place has got atmosphere and that goes a long way. Worth another visit.
Perfectly nice place to go. It won't knock your socks off, but the food is good and the bar is quite nice. Don't shy away. It's a good place for a date that doesn't kill your l wallet, or for family from out of town meal.
515 has been one of my favorite places for years to grab drinks and food with friends, especially after a good massage/hot tub at Well Within. The waiters are amazing and the outdoor seating on the 2nd floor never disappoints. However, this time my friend and I recently came in and we sat at the upstairs bar. The bartender had engaged initially re type of spirit we might want in a cocktail, which was lovely. Shortly after that the bar staff seemed overwhelmed by restaurant drink orders and possibly annoyed by our inquiring what the delay was in ordering a glass of wine (seems they have to order it to be delivered from the downstairs bar?). The halibut was subpar (maybe I shouldn't be ordering fish on a Monday?), but I will say the truffle fries were amazing. So, next time we wait til the warmer weather hits and we go with table waitstaff.
Debated between 3 and 4 stars because the extensive array of cocktails are delicious and creative. Sadly we could only try one round during our visit due to the friendly but very sparse service. Also, the “Kitchen” portion of the name leaves a lot to be desired. Entrees were served prior to small plates and arrived at intervals rather than together so I ate my unremarkable Katsu Prawns with sad, dry, bland “fried rice” slowly and alone while we waited for my partner’s Bulgogi Sando to arrive. Sandwich was decent but you’ll get better bulgogi at an actual Korean establishment. Same goes for the Korean fried chicken which arrived after we had finished our entrees. It was heavily sauced to the point that it overpowered the crispiness - good flavor but again just go to an actual Korean fried chicken place. My advice is come for the cocktails and leave the food.
I'm a wannabe foodie, so let's talk food. Not great and overpriced. Simple as that. They try to appear fine-dining in their presentation, but there's really nothing here to excite the appetite among the starters, entrees, or desserts. My friend and I tried many and we both came away wishing we'd spent less for more. Nevertheless, it's a great lounge atmosphere and fun place to hang out. Just not eat.

Let me start by saying the food and drinks were delicious... once we got them. We came in with a party of 5, and the restaurant was relatively empty when we arrived. We ordered drinks first and then about five minutes later our food: two risottos, a burger, a flatbread, truffle fries and a soup. Almost 20 minutes later the two risottos came out, followed by the soup and fries about five minutes later. FIFTEEN MINUTES after these meals had been brought out the flatbread and burger finally came! There was never any explanation as to why our food was taking so long because the waitress never even bothered coming by our table to check up on us! I couldn't believe how awful the service was, especially for such a nice restaurant. I definitely will not be coming back here again.
I've been curious about this bar for months and finally had the opportunity to stop by for a drink. Their menu seems deceivingly delightful....I ordered the loose cannon, being one myself, and was disappointed to find it tasted like watered down Gatorade. Eau de vie, more like why is Sandstorm playing in this dimly lit facility?! In addition my waitress was rather unpleasant and the chairs here look like patio furniture. The last interaction I had here consisted of being handed a Penguin Classics copy of Aesop as my check. Well, that's Santa Cruz for you.
Food was good. Service wasn't the best. Our server was nice but we were there for 30 mims before being helped. Our plates didn't come out at the same time, was never asked if we wanted a refill of our drinks and it was just two of us. Maube they were shirt staffed not sure. But again our server was really nice.
Walked in hungry, sat down, looked at the menu. 1page of food and 4 of cocktails. I was already tipsy from Lupulo across the street and I don't eat meat, so we left. It should be called Cocktails, Kitchen, Cocktails & Cocktails. I'm sure the drinks are tasty, so I'll have to go back when I hadn't already invested in my night already.
Went for dinner Nov 2017. Nice ambiance. Server was friendly, but sorta clueless. He seemed vaguely confused the entire time, and we had to specifically ask about pretty much everything. My cocktail was decent (just a whiskey sour w/ a merlot floater, for some reason). Nothing special. A starter of truffle fries was quite good. Octopus appetizer was pretty tasty, but over-cooked (rubbery), and definitely a bit too fishy-tasting. For entrees, I got the burger, which was small, dry, and bland. And of course, I had to ask for any condiments. The side-salad was great, though. My friend ordered the oxtail stew, which was pretty lame -- again, sorta bland, and no differentiation between flavors. I'd go back, but only for drinks and snacks/appetizers. The dinner entrees and the service were just real disappointing.
This place is a good spot if you're looking for cocktails and a lively atmosphere in the upstairs lounge. If you're looking for food it's a different story. We tried three small plates. Crab cakes were very large. Unfortunately, mostly filler and very little crab or crab flavor. Nice spice to it, but more of a bread-crumb cake, or whatever is used as the binder/filler. Lamb skewers were a tad on the tough side. I thought the flavor was just OK.. My companion didn't care for them at all. Lamb flatbread was interesting at first but paled after the first few bites. We didn't finish the small sized one and were glad we hadn't ordered the full sized option. The waitress was very good and didn't charge us(on the final bill) for a martini that definitely overshot any version I've ever had of a standard martini, with a sweet lemon flavor. A Manhattan was OK. We will probably not return for food. A drink maybe, as cocktails seem to be the focus of the restaurant rather than food. The wait staff seemed to be quite good. One side note...when we first sat down, in the lower level, the music had a loud un-melodic thump that was annoying...like one of those cars that pull up beside you blasting a bass beat that makes you want to strangle the driver. Fortunately the music changed after about ten/fifteen minutes, otherwise we would have left.
I would not go back to this place. While our waitress was pleasant there seemed to be a huge miscommunication with the kitchen but before I get to that let me say the outdoor area is pleasant and they are following covid protocols strictly even after CDC easing restrictions so you can take that as you'd like. We went there because the menu says they offer "rotating ramen" we showed up after 5pm, we ordered drinks then attempted to place our order for ramen we were informed the kitchen didn't have the ramen ready and it would be another at least 50min. After a few back and forth of communication between the kitchen and our waitress she said they may be able to do it sooner or maybe not and it ended up being tofu and prawns ramen...we ended up ordering fries and drinks and leaving. Just not good to advertise something that won't be ready when customers arrive. Just bad bussiness practice so I wouldn't go back or recommend wasting time on visiting.

The food is terrible .If your under 23 and want to drink overly priced cocktails thos is the place for you . The staff are very young and lazy Dont go More to follow...
Service is VERY POOR food is really cheap quality, seems like something you’d get from Charlie Hong Kong now, can’t believe what they did to the menu. Go to lupilos across the street, it’s cheaper and better.
Was quoted a 30 minute wait to get a table.. turned into an hour plus. Wine was sub par. Service was lackluster. Ordered a burger and fries and they were both displeasing. I do not recommend
Ordered Korean wings, Thai chicken with steam rice and peanut noodles. All three dishes were not pleasing at all. Even our classic margaritas was a fail. Don't let the pics fool you. Does not taste as good as it looks.
