Got the al pastor tacos, a house margarita, and a grande Michelada. Portion sizes are very generous, salsa bar was good. The margarita was a bit too sweet imo but overall really good. The al pastor was very flavorful. Salsas were great, would have liked to see an additional smokey one but that's ok. We'll definitely be back again.
never left a food review in my entire life but oh my god literally this was the best mexican food both me and my best friend have ever eaten in our entire lives on planet earth it’s actually astounding and almost brought me to tears. if i could give my first born to the chef i would. perhaps even write him into my will. do yourself a favor and eat here it will spiritually enlighten you to a level unbeknownst to any human, plant, and form of life in the multiverse. god. i love tacos.
Excellent food and service. The prices might seem high at first glance, but the serving sizes more than make up for that. My partner and I made the mistake of ordering 3-4 tacos each on our first visit. On our second time we made sure to only order a single as they are plenty large enough to be a meal on their own.
Great food! The grilled fish bowl is my go-to meal here.
We had vegan burritos. It was one of the most delicious vegan burritos I had in a while. It is perfect size , not too big , but for someone super hungry it might not be enough, so ask to add more beans and rice . They have huge menu, so this place will satisfy anyone’s taste and appetite. Prices are very reasonable. Service was good . I recommend this place.
Absolutely amazing everything, very unassuming in its presence and has a true quality in flavor and presentation. Out of the vast mix of Mexican restaurants in SC, I highly recommend giving this a go!
Delicious! Had some of the best Mexican food of my life here! crispy warm complimentary chips were also great. Highly recommended. They have a bail at their exit that you were supposed to ring if you enjoyed it, and while we were there we saw every single person leaving the store ring it on their way out!
Delicious food! Friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. We'll be back!
Food is extremely flavorful. Portions are generous. Staff is friendly. The chimichanga was phenomenal. The salsa was great. Would definitely return.
They have menudo daily. The beverages are free refills. They have a very tasty salsa bar and serve yourself chips. Very nice atmosphere and delicious food.
Got Ceviche which was fresh and tasted great with lime juice but a bit salty for me. Next time I would order again but ask for no salt! Overall great 👍 if you want fresh shrimp
My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Try the complex and delicious pureed/smooth sauces: one is red (a bit spicy) and one is light green (the tiniest bit spicy). I bought a half pint of the light green avocado sauce to take home. It goes with everything- from my roast chicken to a pot of black beans.
S/o to the amazing cooks here. Loving the Ceviche on a hot summer day. Fresh and flavorful. I woke up at 10am and it sounded like a nice breakfast so I went for it. Now I have a new found respect for this establishment. Keep up the good work!
10/10 experience! Loved our food, service was excellent, and complementary Chips & Salsa bar is over the top. Looks like they had a few taco and drink specials but we opted for the Chicken and Steak fajita’s, which came with rice, refried beans, fresh salsa, sour cream, guacamole 🥑! So good.
Street tacos were amazing! The service was great and the food came out in approx 2 min (no joke!) I love that they have warm corn tortilla chips and a variety of salsas. They even has sliced watermelon to enjoy! Will definitely be coming back.
I was coming down from San Francisco back to LA and stopped by to this place. Very colorful with art painted on the walls inside. Food was fantastic 10/10. After ordering I didn't have much interaction with staff but at the time of ordering my food the cashier/waitress seems pretty nice. They have a huge menu, so I'm sure there is plenty to try. 1.ordered fish taco 🌮...it's a very big tacowith double tortilla. If you're not a big rate this one taco should be enough (Forgot to take picture 😞). 2. I also ordered, a plate that came with 🐔 🥩 🍤🍚🫘. Huge plate enough to feed 2 people. I'm a fat ass so I ate it all 😆. 3. They have free unlimited self serve tortilla chips with a salsa bar you can have while you wait for your food. 4. They do have a wet bar. I had a beer 🍺 (it was a hot day 🥵) 5. Restroom was clean. Only one toilet 🚻. 6. Free agua Fresca refills. You refill it yourself. If I'm ever up there again I'm Santa Cruz again I'm coming to this place again. Not sure why I didn't pictures.🤷🏽♂️
We stopped here on our way back to LA and we loved it. The food was amazing. I recommend getting the torta regular. We also ordered tacos de pastor, chicken salad, and much more. Our server Marcos was super friendly and the rest of the staff too. Highly recommend to anyone stopping by or any locals.
Came here for lunch and ordered fish tacos, molcajete, and Coctel de Camarones estillo. The presentation is superb and the quality is excellent. Would recommend coming back to the restaurant. Service and ambiance were decent as well. Overall, I give the restaurant a 5/5 for their excellent service and food.

Some of the best crispy tacos I’ve ever had! All the meats were sooo flavorful!
The food was really good. Everyone enjoyed it. We tried the enchiladas, chilaquiles and kids the quesadillas. Definitely rang the bell, you got to go to understand what I mean about "rang the bell". Deff will returned next time we are in town !!!
The blend of flavors and service is amazing! I went basic and got tacos de asada. They were just right. La salsa reminds me of home
We’ve lived in the mountains for 10 years now and I’ve never been able to find a Mexican restaurant! We tried this restaurant tonight and we were pleasantly surprised. It was fresh and delicious everyone in the family loved it.! This is our go to even if we have to drive 25 minutes in each direction
Food is always great. My go to favorites are tacos, pozole and their amazing burritos. Have decent specials during the week.

Two days after Thanksgiving (2022), my wife and I were walking to neighboring Avanti Pizzeria, wondering when the new Mexican restaurant would open. We were surprised to find it already open! La Katrina had a soft opening just that Monday. So we ate there instead. I had a combination plate with a pastor enchilada and a crispy shredded chicken taco ($16). My wife had regular nachos (no meat) for $11. They feature 12 kinds of meat, and you can get any of those in your enchilada, taco (crispy or soft) or tostada. I loved the food, my taco reminded me of the favorite Mexican restaurant of my youth north of San Diego. Chips were sturdy and crispy. Order at the register and you're given a number. I wasn't given a receipt and forgot to ask later. There is no acoustic damping on any of the walls, floor or ceiling, so it sounds echoing and noisy, even though we were the only guests at first. The decor features some beautiful murals that work well with the lighting. I felt it is attractive but not cozy. No liquor license yet, but both previous establishments in this location were licensed, and I was told they hoped to have that by end of January (2023).
I love the art that they have around the inside! I tried the carne asada burrito and I really enjoyed it, the meat was perfect! The atmosphere is super chill vibes, I recommend eating inside because it feels cozy and comfortable! My wife had the crispy taco plate and she said this might be our new spot! Very friendly crew here, thank you!!
Food was excellent. Service was a little slow, food came out as it was finished. We had to ask about a burrito. Prices are high. However the food was very good. The salsa bar has a lot of options. Easy parking.
Portions were more than generous! We tried several on the menu and loved the fish taco and we burrito. Sauces and assorted picked were very appetising. Would come back if we are in the Santa Barbara area.
Had an early lunch and stopped in for a couple of birria tacos. The meat was flavorful and tender. I like that they have a variety of salsas and other condiments to choose from. The green salsa was my favorite. Staff is soo nice. I really like the green agua fresca. Its refreshing. Next time I will try the fish taco. There was plenty of parking around 10am.
The food is good, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the service is excellent.
First impression of the food was very good! The salsa at the bar was definitely on point very tasty 😋. I do however have some criticism when taking my order I wasn't given a receipt. At first I didn't believe to be a big deal until they gave me my order. I noticed I was missing 2 items. When I asked about these said items they said they would have them out. 10 minutes later I asked again. This time they asked what I had ordered and then came back 4 more times to ask what I had ordered. They then told me it wasn't on the ticket. I then said I paid for these items! Then they told me that the ticket must have ripped off in the printing process. They weren't nice about this and even interrupted me and walked away. When I finally received my entire order when I got home the burrito didn't have the 2 sauces I had asked for. I understand they haven't been open long and I do hope the service and confusion improve. The food here is good but also expensive restaurant prices. I would still recommend trying this place out just make sure you get that receipt and that your order is correct.

I gauge Mexican restaurants by ordering tacos. The two super tacos I ordered here had too much coleslaw and salsa that hid the little meat in the taco, but also left the tortillas too soggy to pick up the tacos. The tortilla disintegrated. The carnitas and cochinita were too fatty. Not a repeat. Next time I’ll go to Taqueria Santa Cruz or Taqueria Vallarta.
Good food for a local SC taqueria but their online ordering system sucks. It doesn't matter if its any online service, there doesn't seem to be an easy option to order specific meat choice for any order. Seems like its been like this for years l.
Oh, Taqueria La Katrina looked fun, With colors and lights and a vibe in the sun. The walls were all bright, the space had some cheer, So I thought to myself, “Let’s go eat here!” I ordered a burrito, alambre plate too, Then waited… and waited… like statues would do. The man right behind me had one thing, not two — But somehow I left while he still had to queue. No smile at the counter, no “thank you,” no cheer, Just plopped down my bag and a blank little stare. No tray, just a thud, and I shuffled away, Already unsure if I wanted to stay. The burrito was salty — a briny surprise. It punched me with salt straight between both my eyes. The flavor was missing, the balance was gone, Like the lid on the shaker got stuck in the “on.” The alambre was next, and I hoped for a save, But it tasted like beef that forgot how to behave. No salt, no spice, no seasoning found, Just warm little bites of beige on the ground. The salsa bar smiled — it looked kind of slick, But every sauce there was just watery trick. No heat, no smoke, no zest, no pow, Just “meh” in a cup with a sad little brow. Then came the bill — forty-six bucks. For two little meals and a bag full of yucks. No drink, no chips, no sauce that could sing — Just food that went “thud” and a till that went “cha-ching.” So Katrina, oh Katrina, you’re pretty and bold, But the food and the service just left me cold. Two stars out of five for a place full of glitter That served me a dinner that tasted rather bitter.

A million other places to get a better burrito in Santa Cruz. This place is over priced with mediocre food and trash customer service.
Ordered a carne asada salad to go. I asked for no rice and more veggies. The salad is mostly composed of lots of refried beans and two pieces of meat that’s not even cut. There’s barely any greens or veggies. Terrible food for $20.
I ordered a breakfast burrito sausage and I got two ball park hot dogs wrapped in a tortilla with cheese and raw potatoes. It tasted like horrible. Then ordered the asada quesadilla and noticed a smell coming from it. Smelled like spoiled meat not worth the money. Eat at your own risk.
