Opinions de Mozaic Santa Cruz
Oh my goodness!! We just did takeout and the baba ganoush, the hummus, the gyro meat- top tier! And my partner loved their chicken souvlaki. I’ve just had mouth surgery and can only eat super soft foods- they went so far above and beyond to help me get some delicious protein via their gyro meat after days of mashed potatoes, and I’m beyond grateful to them. It was so flavorful and tender, absolutely perfect. Not just great food- great people who really care. Can’t wait to frequent their restaurant and enjoy all the textures in person.
Wonderful Mediterranean food! The Greek salad was great, as were the shrimp shish kabobs and the chicken souvlaki...the pesto dip served with the bread was really tasty. The highlight was the tzatzika appetizer - we proceeded to put tzatzika on everything and then got some to take home for the leftovers. We made a reservation but didn't need one. There was a large group in the back of the room so it clearly would be good for a special occasion. The owner was very kind and went out of his way to help us with something and our waitress was delightful. The food came out quickly and was hot and delicious. We might eat there again tonight before we head back home!
Great service, great atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Crab and shrimp ravioli - amazing. Moussaka - really amazing. Soulvaki chicken skewers- very tasty. Appetizer plate was great, babaganush was a little bit on the smoky side. My daughter did not like Alicia salad, I think we got unfortunately a bitter set of arugula. Waitress took it back, and removed from the bill, no questions asked. Net-net - extensive menu, lots of flavor. Very pleasant and non-rushed service. Towards the end a big middle eastern family came for dinner. To me this is an indicator of restaurants authenticity! If you find yourself in the downtown Santa Cruz - give them a try, you will be happy you did.
Owner is the best ! Great guy super nice and jovial easy to talk to He is really doing a great job running this restaurant bringing Mediterranean cuisine to the table . Great ambiance too with a beautiful bar . I really like the overall lay out of the place . Support this business . Great price and the quality is there on top of it . Overall exceptional value .And the food is really good . There is a lot to try there . I go for the lamb shank , calamaris , lamb kebab , steak , platter of appetizers , shrimps skewers , his bread is amazing served with pesto ( owner brings it all the way from Monterey every day ) , fish soup , tiramisu . Good wine too . I just love this place . Thank you for recognizing me each time I come ,making me feel welcome and at home . That what a great restaurant should be about . Sharing and filling you are home ! Brice
Oh my goodness we just went here. It was so good. The staff is amazing and the prices were super reasonable. The happy hour is so delicious and so tasty. I was a little concerned about the downtown area being sketchy, but we parked across the street and it was really nearby. I really appreciated the staff and will definitely return.
My go to place in Santa Cruz.Parking garage 15’ away. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly even if you get there early. The food is oh so so good. Cocktails are tragically too tasty (yum) if no designated driver. I wish I could have ordered 20 cocktails!Mahalo Mozaic for Killa Grinds!
We’ve been to Mozaic in Santa Cruz about four times now, and every visit has been fantastic! The staff is always welcoming and friendly, and the food is consistently delicious at very reasonable prices. We’ve tried a variety of dishes — the burger, wrap, ravioli, and the lamb shank with mashed potatoes — and everything has been flavorful and satisfying. It’s the kind of place where you know you’ll enjoy your meal every single time. Highly recommend!
This place is truly a hidden gem! 🌟 The Mediterranean cuisine here is absolutely delightful, with so many eye-catching dishes to choose from. We went for the refreshing watermelon salad, perfectly grilled salmon with silky purée, and of course couldn’t resist the hummus — that timeless Middle Eastern classic. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the staff are just wonderfully kind. No doubt, we’ll be back again and again. ❤️
A Hidden Gem with Heartfelt Service and Flavorful Food We had a truly delightful experience at Mosaic. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out as one of the highlights—warm, genuine, and incredibly welcoming. It’s clear the team takes real pride in making every guest feel at home. We sampled several dishes, including the starter octopus and fisherman’s cioppino, and were impressed by the quality and freshness. Every bite was full of flavor and perfectly cooked, showcasing attention to detail and a thoughtful approach to ingredients. The mocktails were also refreshingly creative—balanced and beautifully presented. For desserts we tried panna cotta - it’s very tender, not too sweet - perfect finale to the delicious dinner. This is one of those rare spots that combines great food with an inviting atmosphere, run by passionate local owners who clearly care about what they do. Highly recommend this charming neighborhood restaurant—you’ll leave with a full heart and a happy palate.
Literally was browsing Maps for a place to eat, and the menu made us come here for dinner. I’m really glad we did. The staff were incredibly sweet, and kind of funny. The restaurant is really nice inside - perfect for impressing that special someone. It was hard to pick out entrees out of the great selection. The apps on the other hand we knew exactly what we wanted - hummus and FIRE CHEESE. Yes, they light it on fire at the table. The pita was incredible and I could have filled on up on just that. But I had to eat my Paella! The servings of the entrees are really manageable. I forgot to mention the drinks! My raspberry lemon drop was so tart and delicious! My friend got the hibiscus drink and she loved it as well.
We walked by this place so many times and we finally went in for dinner, and what an amazing experience. The staff was attentive and pleasant, they were easy to talk to and enjoyed their company. Hospitality, including the owners’, was the best. We ordered a lot of food for leftovers and to try it. For appetizers, we had the flaming feta (Saganaki) and the Spanakopita. They were both amazing. The spanakopita is probably the best we ever had. The dough is home made. We had the lamb kabob, chicken souvlaki, and the Gyros sandwich. And they were great, the food taste fresh, well spices and delicious. Even the Gyro sandwich which was extra (only two of us for dinner), the meat was sliced thick and well cooked. We thought the food was extra special, we ordered more for catering the week after. We had dinner for 15 people, and we ordered catering. Similar things to what we had, but also added the Greek salad, the dolmas, and the amazing falafels. And the amazing pistachio nut pudding. Everyone raved about the food. This is our new favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Actually, our new favorite restaurant.
After a nice walk in the Henry Cowell state park we got so hungry that we decided to go to a sushi place but it was busy there and we didn't get a seat. So we decided to come here for lunch. There were eight of us seated. The bread with sauce that was served as complimentary was delicious while we were waiting for our food. Our server was busy but she got all our orders along with the special tea. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed it.
This is a fantastic place for dining. Atmosphere is great and the service as well. We ordered Hummus Plate, Grilled Chicken Souvlaki, Portobello Mushroom Sandwich and Veggie Delight. All entrees were excellent and very tasty. Portions were huge as well. Great place to visit if you are visiting Santa Cruz. Highly recommend this place.
Mozaic at 110 Church St, Santa Cruz, CA is a great spot for lunch, especially if you love Mediterranean and seafood dishes. 🐟🥗 The food is fresh and delicious, and the restaurant has a nice, comfortable vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but overall it’s definitely worth the visit!
Recently for New Year’s Eve dinner, my family and the family of a dear friend from abroad visited this place. We originally had booked this place for a 7pm slot but we went there an hour early. The host Jalal was kind enough to accommodate our early arrival and got us a table. The restaurant ambience was nice. Our waiter Sam was a nice guy and patiently took our order. The dipping sauce that was brought to the table for the bread was very delicious. We ordered the grilled Salmon plate, combo gyro plate, Mozaic paella, Greek chicken souvlaki, four cheese ravioli and lamb kebab for our main course. We also ordered Mojitos, red wine and mock-tails. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake, baklava and Tiramisu. The salmon plate, the four cheese ravioli and the paella plates were delicious with the rest being so so. The baklava and the tiramisu were alright as well. The waiter also forgot to bring our lamb kebab and the mock tail/ sprite we ordered. Overall, decent food and ambience. Service could improve better. Every time we had to wait for sometime to get the waiter’s attention to get something. While they had a busy evening, that is not an excuse for a mediocre service especially when they charge a whopping 18% service charge. The other waitress did not want to deal with us and bluntly said to call our waiter. I am not sure if I would visit this place again though some of the food items were very tasty and delicious.
Nice decor but we were expecting more Mediterranean flare and flavor to the food. We found some of it to be bland unfortunately, it was clean and the employees were nice. It is on ground level and has a bar available inside. The parking was in a garage nearby and was an easy walk.
I have been to Mozaic several times in the past year. The food is consistently good. My review concerns the service, which has been a recurring issue. The past two times I have been here, my group was helped by a waitress (unsure of name: woman, 40s?) and her treatment is really unpleasant. It always seems like she’s annoyed and over it: no smiles, no pleasantries, and awfully inattentive. During our most recent visit, she asked my girlfriend how she would like her burger cooked and didn’t wait for an answer before going “medium well” and continuing on without letting my girlfriend get a word in. Insane behavior. The burger was not good, way overdone. It also came out more than 5 minutes later than the food for the other 3 members of our party, for some reason? She disappeared completely near the end of our meal, but not before dropping our check on a random wall divider section fully not at the table without saying anything. We got up to see if it was our check, then had to flag down the BARTENDER to run the card. I don’t know if she’s somehow always having a bad day, or if she has a problem with our group’s demographics, or whatever else, but I believe there is a minimum level of service that was not met. Once could be understandable, but this has happened consistently. It’s really disappointing and tainted what was otherwise were good experiences.
