The vegetarian enchiladas are to die for!!!! This place is great but it is not often you find vegetarian food like this. The hamburger was also something wonderful Watching the seals play while enjoying a great dinner. Definitely will be back.
The chicken enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce were absolutely delicious. Very flavorful and great rice and beans. We also had the blue corn tamales with shrimp and little scallops and it was very tasty and had a generous amount of seafood. Our server was so sweet and helpful and attentive. I was glad she recommended the green sauce for the enchiladas. A wonderful evening!
Olitas Cantina & Grill at the Santa Cruz Wharf is fantastic! The steak fajita was out of this world – tender, flavorful, and served sizzling hot. The location on the wharf adds to the experience, with beautiful ocean views and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend this spot for great food and a great vibe in Santa Cruz!
I was with a group of 7 guys and we tried to get a table downstairs at Makai. Thanks to Makai being super slow (and sorta unfriendly), we headed upstairs to all Olitas. What a find!! it was bright, had a beautiful views, and every single employee in that restaurant had a huge smile on their face & was glad to see us. Our server was Mack, she was just the nicest person, and put up with all of our crazy energy, and was super fun to work with. The food & drinks were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We did mention that one of the entrées (the tamale) wasn’t prepared to our liking, and she discounted the dish, even though we didn’t ask her to. Super thoughtful!! Every dish that came out of the kitchen was huge & looked delicious . Yes, the prices were sorta high, but given the location, the food quantity & quality and the extraordinary staff, it was worth every penny!!
Olitas Bar & Grille located at the picturesque Santa Cruz Wharf offers innovative Mexican cuisine. The windows offer scenic views of the Wharf and water around. We relished Blue Moon Beer, Red Sangria, Spicy Cucumber Rita as drinks with Citrus Shrimp, Super Burritos and Vegetarian Tacos for lunch. The dishes were fresh, well cooked, not spicy and delicious. The staff are helpful, friendly and great.
Emily is a gracious host who started our meal by complimenting my wife's dress 👗 😉. Atmosphere was excellent, we came in RIGHT when it opened at 12pm, had excellent window seats overlooking the beautiful bay , not many patrons in at that time so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Food was great, lobster 🦞 quesadillas @ market price, and shrimp tacos 🌮 were great. It's BEST to eat the meal there while it's fresh and warm. Came here after a NFL game from Saturday @ Levi stadium and it made our trip that much better. Service was good and it is definitely a memorable experience ✨️ 💕. Thanks again Emily, great hosting and service gets recognized and noted ✅️.
We stumbled upon Olitas while walking along the warf. We were able to walk right in and get seated given it was a Tuesday evening. We sat right along the window and got a view of the evening sunset. Service was quick and the food came out hot! A few recommendations from the menu, try the surf and turf quesadilla, full of Carne asada and Maine lobster. A warning when ordering the 2 combo order - an enchilada and taco was so much food! It also comes with rice and beans. One of the kids menu options was enchilada and that was also a large portion. All and all, we enjoyed our time at Olitas.
A huge tourist restaurant serving sumptuous portions guaranteed to leave you carrying doggie bags out the door. Great service, lively ambiance and sturdy cocktails. An upscale and more diverse menu than the average Mexican restaurant. Kudos to serving fresh green beans. Ideal for large parties and groups, located on the wharf, the ideal place to unwind.
Where else can you get amazing Mexican cuisine and Pacific ocean views from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk? Olitas has great food and super friendly, professional staff. Try the citrus shrimp with red chile risotto, it's amazing, as are several other menu choices. After a great meal you can walk the pier and see the views and even an occasional seal.
Nice bar atmosphere with a great ocean view the service was friendly and attentive. The food was pretty good large portions. It was a good experience for sure! The chips and salsa were interesting the salsa tasted like vinegar dressing. But ya I would recommend good value and good portions. The shrimp and rice was very good and lobster 🦞 was tasty 😋
Actually ordered Papaya Salad, all I can say is that it was interesting 🤔. Nothing like Laos or Vietnam style Papaya Salad. It was unique it had greens, orange papaya, leche, feta cheese, tomatoes. Maybe pine nuts with balsamic dressing. Not spicy no peppers in it. The atmosphere was very nice and the hostess was very pleasant. If I had more time I would have eaten here, maybe next time. If you experience this restaurant let me know how you like it.
I really wish I could give this place more stars because the server was very sweet, however the rest of the experience was not so great… we came in on a rainy day and had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to greet us. We ended up sitting at the bar and it took a while to be greeted by the bartender. We then finally had a server step in and take our order while also bartending a few drinks. The food took forever to come. The male bartender was not friendly at all… We finally asked for chips and salsa after around 45 minutes of waiting for food, and realized they forgot to give them to us at first. Definitely will not be coming back if we ever visit the beach again
We came here for a Mother's Day lunch last weekend and surprisingly we were able to find parking quickly and there wasn't a wait to be seated. We were seated next to the window facing the boardwalk so the view was nice. The host brought us water and chips and our server came by soon after. 5 stars for both of them. Our cocktails, chips and salsa were all decent. Our food arrived and it all looked amazing. Unfortunately, while it all looked nice, it all lacked flavor. My shrimp tacos just had cabbage and soggy, tiny breaded shrimp. Even the beans and rice were lacking any kind of flavor. Everyone in our party of 4 felt the same about their food. Highly disappointed in our $130+ lunch. This might be a good spot for happy hour/bar food or something. Thank you to the waitress for the great service.
If you are looking for classic beach front vibe atmosphere this is a good place. Dine indoors or outdoors on a large dock like porch on the wayer. Food is not bad nor great. Typical for this type of dining and I personally like it. There are many other dining options on the street you walk down to get to the restaurant. Also many touristy shops. Many choices so.of you like this type of atmosphere I recommend the restaurant and area. If you are looking for fine dining I suggest you look for another close by restaurant. You have your choice.
We discovered this restaurant at the end of our journey through the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk/Wharf. We wanted tacos and figured we couldn't go wrong with this place. We were seated at a window that had the most awesome view of the ocean. The food and service weren't the greatest, but it wasn't horrible. Our waitress was a bit scarce, but I don't like a hovering waiter, more than twice would've been nice though. I ordered the blackened fish tacos and my husband ordered the shrimp tacos which came with fried shrimp. His dish was much tastier than mine, but the blackened fish was a little charred and dry. It was cod, which is juicy white fish, but this was definitely over cooked. The sauce on top wasn't the best tasting either. The shrimp tacos, however, were pretty good. The shrimp were lightly battered and plenty for the small tortillas. I also wasn't a fan of the complimentary salsa, but my husband enjoyed it. The guac on the other hand was superb! We would probably check out a different restaurant before returning to this one, but it's not off the list.
Two stars: One for the attentive waitress and one for the harbor view. Zero stars for the food. The worst food I have ever eaten. They offered a taco and drink for $12. First I was given complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were ok but very thick. The salsa was a thick brown substance with a few chunks of tomato which tasted awful. The soft taco was about 4 inches in diameter. There was about 3 or 4 ounces of (supposedly) blackened fish. It tasted nothing like fish and had the consistency of chicken with little flavor. It wasn't blackened but covered with a brown substance and laid upon a bed of expired cabbage. I ordered a triple ginger non-alcoholic beer which tasted good but nothing like beer. The waitress was helpful and pleasant. The amount of food was appetizer quantity NOT worthy of a meal. Horrible experience!
Reserved a table here for Valentine's Day. Waited for a hostess for 20 minutes. Drunk server made a scene up front. Waited for a while to be served, servers forgot to bring utensils and napkins. Ran out of Ceviche for the Appitzer Sampler, decided to pile our sampler platewith a mountain of browning guacamole with no extra chips. When food finally came out, it was subpar at best. Steak was overcooked and reduction was burnt. It took 20 minutes for them to give us the check. Would not recommend. Only giving two stars because at least their Margaritas they served were good.
Come for the views, and the decent skinny margaritas. The chips and salsa are decent as well. The staff was friendly, quick and helpful. The food was horrendous. I didn’t know something could be over sauced and have no flavor. This was the blackened fish tacos by the way. I tried to make it through two bites and couldn’t go any further. I tried adding avocado crema and sour cream. It didn’t get any better. The ahi tuna and super chicken burrito suffered the same fates. Zero flavor and covered in ingredients. Do they not know what salt is??? Or aromatics like onions, garlic, peppers, etc. $60 meal that I could barely touch. NOT WORTH IT. There were also flies all over our table and the restaurant was a resounding 80 degrees sweltering when it was a nice 65 outside.
