I have say Andy was amazing. Did everything possible to make our dinner? Ambience was wonderful. The evening was beautiful. The live music was lovely. Dessert was delicious. Drinks were amazing. I have to say Andy did amazing job.
Last night me and my wife experienced an unforgettable date night at The View Restaurant & Bar. They had a $30 corking fee so we were able to bring a fine bottle of Dom Perignon they put on ice for us right away. Are waitress maddy was profesional and had great knowledge about all the cocktails , dishes being served as well a great attitude and understanding of fine dining. We started off with cocktails, Smokey bourbon for myself and my wife the Mexican Ponchethe definitely high caliber supper fancy. For are entrees we decided we had to do the ahi tuna poke and the local fresh crab cakes both extremely delicious and the crab cake had the perfect crunch soft fluffy crab center ,the freshness of the ahi tuna unforgettable. Maddy cleared are plates and brought us fresh silverware and napkins staying attentive pouring are champagne and catering to are every need. For are main dishes we decided to go for the short rib talk about fall off the bone. The Marcona almond crusted sole was out of this world in a creamy coconut lemon grass Thai curry sauce with a pureed mashed potato left us shocked to say the least. We couldn't make up are minds on two mains so we ended up getting the chefs Mushroom Pithivies it had melty fetta local chantrel's the puff pastry was fluffy and perfectly flaky outside the presentation of all 3 dishes really had me feeling 5 star after eating it was obvious 5 stars all around. To finish it off we had the Sticky toffee cake the ice cream was so good with the soft hot cake accompanied with a delicious espresso martini. This experience has us blown away we love fine dining and its hard to get in santa cruz this has us second guessing driving over the hill on are next date night that's for sure The View Restraunt is absolutely a five star fine dinning experience for anyone looking to wow there significant other or get the vibes going for your lover!!!
A Wonderful Hideaway Spot for a perfect Chill Romantic Rendezvous especially after a fun filled challenging Stick Shift convertible sports Car zip zap curvy drive on Highway 17S. Many Thanks to Jaxson for being so Attentive during our visit there. The Lush Green valley Tree Top View with the Ocean Sunset in the background was just perfect. Cocktails, Cabernet Sauvignon and Fish Tacos while whispering sweet nothings to her shall be a memory to cherish. We truly appreciated the outdoor heaters and blankets to make the atmosphere really cozy. Chaminade is always great visit to enjoy their outdoor grounds and nearby fun filled Santa Cruz & Capitola.
Chaminade The View was a beautiful setting for a birthday lunch for our large group. Excellent service from our server Bri and her colleagues, who found the candles for the Gayle's Cake, joined us to sing happy birthday, signed a sweet card for my Mom, and took group photos for us. The food was delicious. A wonderful, relaxed, and happy gathering of family and friends, thanks to The View!
The staff is so friendly and the food and drinks are delicious! The view is stunning. We've been here 3 times, 3 seasons. It is always gorgeous and always have live music in the evenings.
First visit here and it was great. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Sitting Outdoor with the view and plenty of heaters was awesome. Food was really good. Make sure you check out the special menu! The only downside is parking, as there aren't many close spots. Not a huge deal. They do have valet if needed. Bathrooms were clean as well.
Great place for romance and delicious food. The customer relations was awesome! Awesome scenic views! Our server - Oscar - was a real treat to serve us and kept us informed of the menu'ed items. Overall, I highly recommend a night out with loved ones and enjoy what the night serves!
Best reataurant im Santa Cruz, CA. At The Chaminade Resort, open to the public, live music six nights a week, sweeping views from the top of the bluff overlooking Monterrey Bay. The craft cocktails, local beers and wines and friendly staff perfectly compliment the great food and terrific views. Very comfortable whether indoors or on outdoor patios. Upscale but approachable and comfortable ambiance. Don't miss the toffee pudding dessert or the homemade icecream cookie sandwhich! To die for!!!
Really amazing food and of course amazing drinks! Shout out to the server Andy! He is funny and an awesome guy. We loved him. Definitely made our honeymoon memories glow with his dinner serving services.
Stayed a night here to unwind. Beautiful surroundings. Wonderful service at The View for dinner. Had the crab cakes, truffle fries, and beet salad. All delicious and service was wonderful. Had two house margaritas, too. Highly recommend. They had live music in the bar, and the view can't be beat. The hotel check-in was simple. Stayed in a king resort view room. Everything was clean, and the room had everything you needed. Grounds are beautiful for walking at dusk. Highly recommend from a local. This is the best place to visit and unwind.
Going for our 1-year anniversary after getting married at the venue last year… simply THE BEST scallops I’ve ever had. The signature cocktails are also top notch and match perfecting with the golden hour views from the patio.
Having breakfast here was very enjoyable and quite an experience. The patio has a beautiful view atop a small hill. You can bring your pet with you if you sit outside. The food and service were pretty good, the staff were friendly and helpful. They do seem a bit short staffed at the moment. I would pick breakfast over dinner here if you had to choose.
What a beautiful spot! We had breakfast here today me and mom. Food was great, service was super fast, friendly staff, and an outstanding view! Will definitely be back!! 🤍
We had an amazing time at The View. After a long day, we were debating between ordering room service or eating at the restaurant. Our server Anthony and team provided a wonderful dining experience which made me glad we chose to eat at the restaurant. They were very accommodating when we asked to be seated on the patio. We were offered many heat lamps to brave the brisk air as we watched the sunset. The shaded patio also provided relief against a brief rain. We ordered the dog burger patty for our little corgi. It was a huge portion size suitable for a much larger breed. It was a great value considering the quality of the meat. We were also able to customize the doneness! Our pup loved it and inhaled the ground beef and rice leaving the plate clean. We appreciated that they also offered her a fresh water bowl. I ordered the Maine lobster with gnocchi. There was no shortage of lobster! I was able to construct a perfect bite for the whole entree. We had a perfect ending to the meal with a warm sticky toffee cake a la mode to share. It’s been years since we could find a a restaurant that could match the texture and flavors from the legendary Westside Tavern that was in LA. It’s been 15 minutes now and I am debating if I should order another. I’m thrilled we found the View a quick drive across the mountain.
We had a wonderful date night and birthday celebration on 8/17. We dressed up, but you can be casual too. Our server was very charming, experienced, accommodating, and professional. He even offered heaters and blankets at sundown. For dinner, I had the Wild King Salmon, which was out-of-this-world delicious! The salmon just melts in your mouth with the perfect level of acidity. My fiance had the NY strip steak with roasted cherry tomato and blue cheese butter. Both dishes were phenomenal 🤌 For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake and the raspberry cheesecake. We were glad we got a side of the vanilla gelato with the chocolate cake (recommended by the server) because it was very, very dense. We were less enthused by the cheesecake because it was bland. However, it was very light and airy, which is great after a heavy dinner. The restaurant is only 15 minutes from our home in Capitola, so we will be back again. Cheers! 🍷
Food is good, burger is mostly there as a picky eater option it wasn't anything special. Everything else delish. Oh, also it was my gfs mom's birthday and we got a dessert for her and I'd go there just for that. No pic sorry.
Chaminade Santa Cruz is a fantastic hotel resort that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. The pools and Jacuzzis are incredibly refreshing and well-maintained, providing guests with a luxurious place to unwind and enjoy the serene environment. It's definitely a great resort that delivers on all levels!
LALA was fantastic! She was friendly, patient, and very attentive throughout our meal. She made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. Truly great service and a big reason we enjoyed our visit.see you next year at Christmas LALA !!!!!!
Chelsea made our drinks excellent and was very friendly. We will definitely be back!
LALA was the best—so friendly, helpful, and professional. The service was amazing, and she made our visit memorable. Would definitely come back!
I had the pleasure of dining at The View Restaurant at Chaminade Resort last week and I can't speak highly enough about my experience there. Both the food and cocktails were exceptional—thoughtfully created, beautifully presented, and full of fresh, vibrant flavors that showcase both creativity and quality. They offer a wide array of dishes that I found to be both intentional and expertly prepared. I highly recommend the double cut pork chop, braised beef short rib and you must, must, must save room for the sticky toffee cake for dessert! A top 5 dessert in my many travels. If the food wasn't enough, the atmosphere was just as impressive. Offering beautiful views and a relaxed yet refined setting that makes it perfect for a special occasion or a casual night out. What really ties it all together is the service. I found the hosts, waitstaff and bartenders to be attentive, warm and professional without ever feeling rushed or overbearing. The View delivers on all fronts—food, ambiance, and hospitality—making it a must-visit if you're ever in the Santa Cruz area.
My family and some friends just came here for the delicious Thanksgiving buffet that they host every year. I have no idea what the rooms are like. The food was delicious with a number of vegetarian options and some gluten-free as well. It was the most sumpuous feast to be had. They sat us on the edge of the cliff overlooking Santa Cruz and the ocean and it was breathtaking. The customer service was excellent as well. The only downside is parking. I dropped off my family at the entrance and drove a long ways away too find a parking spot. If I could drop it half a star from that I would
We came here on a nice romantic getaway and had Breakfast at The View. Sean welcomed us with a warming energy and set us on the best spot with a view to o the ocean and helped us with our orders. Later Bri took care of us and added a great energy to our starting day! We ordered the Steak and eggs and the breakfast burrito with 2 Horchatas cocktails. The steak came out a little too raw at first but Bri gracefully fixed it and we had a blast. Food drinks view and service 100/100!!
Andy was an absolute 10/10 — hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had. From the moment we were seated, he made us feel genuinely welcome. He struck the perfect balance between friendly and professional, checking in at just the right times without ever being intrusive. His knowledge of the menu was impressive — he gave thoughtful recommendations, answered all our questions confidently, and even suggested the perfect drink pairings. What really stood out was his attention to detail. Our drinks were never empty, special requests were handled flawlessly, and everything came out exactly as ordered. He anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. Beyond the great service, Andy brought such a positive, upbeat energy to the table that it elevated the entire dining experience. You can tell he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in what he does. If every server were like Andy, dining out would always be a 10/10 experience. We’ll definitely be back — and asking for him specifically!
Dined here for dinner on Valentine’s Day. Had the opportunity to enjoy the Happy Hour options and prices. Got full for dinner menu but had room for dessert. Bri provided excellent service. We sat indoors due to cloudy cold weather but will definitely be back in the spring or summer to enjoy the outside dining with a view.
The View Restaurant at Chaminade is a nice place for a special occasion. I suggest asking about ingredients in the entree as I was unpleasantly surprised the “mashed potatoes” were VERY strongly seasoned with what we can only assume was horseradish. Otherwise their food was delicious and well prepared and the view is beautiful at sunset! Their sticky toffee cake is so delicious I went out and found a recipe to replicate it. Yummy!
Food was delicious, both lunch and dinner! The view from the outdoor area was the cherry on top! You have got to try this restaurant!
Really great service and of course, view! The entrees are a bit price-y but looked well done from the fish to the steaks. The salads are also yummy, but a bit too sweet. The appetizers were good but not amazing like the entrees I'd say.
The food quality here is pretty low, but the setting is very beautiful and the service is quite friendly. Much more convenient than driving into town if you're staying at the Chamanade, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're not already at Chamanade.
Went for their special Valentine's Day dinner. The butternut squash ravioli was amazing! And the crab cakes are as good as everyone says
We thought it was great place until the check came. Very expensive The cheese board - 5 would get again. Bread is nice and salty and toasty The clam linguine - 5 nice and chewy. Very garlicky Fish chips - 4 apparently one of the better ones but the fish is too thick, the skin is great The kids cheese flatbread- 2 but my kid loved it so.... Live music - 5 View- 5 Great atmosphere and good food, hard to go many times tho
The food was very fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly and made us feel welcome as we enjoyed the wonderful view towards the ocean and warm atmosphere of the restaurant. Wonderful entertainment the evening we dined and it was very pleasant. Breakfast and dinner were great opportunities to see natural settings to start and end the day.
The service was outstanding. Our waitstaff handled our large group very well. The atmosphere is wonderful with the view in a beautiful day. The Belgian waffle was disappointing. It was the right shape but I don’t think it was a yeasted batter so technically it wasn’t a Belgian waffle. And it did not have pearl sugar baked in. It came with fruit but the serving was tiny.
Lovely setting with a spectacular view. The restaurant has interesting cocktail and menu items. We particularly enjoyed the smoked cocktails. Unfortunately, the kitchen was slammed with large parties that night; therefore, our food arrived significantly late and were not up to its normal standard. Our server was apologetic and the GM owned up to the missteps and rectify the situation promptly. We plan to return next time in the area.
We had lunch at the View. It was very pleasant. The view was stunning. We had fried calamari (delicious) and I had fish and chips. The chips were out of this world. Staff was nice and we love the ambiance. Great place!
The kitchen is the story with the View. It's comfort food with a twist. Fresh fish on the menu was local halibut which was both very fresh and well presented on a bed of sweet potatoes. There's a full bar with a cocktail program and the wine list is nice though a bit expensive. Service was consistently attentive, prompt and friendly. The view is what is this location's ambiance overlooking forest out to southern edge of Monterey Bay.
Great place. Super good service! Our server Veronica was great! The from the restaurant looks out over the ocean. Music in the evenings ...
Went for drinks and dessert. Sticky toffee pudding was amazing!!!! Drinks were just ok. Service was superb. Kendall was super attentive and very friendly.
We ordered the ribeye, fettuccine alfredo and a wedge salad. The steak was supposed to come with horseradish and by the time the server came back to check on us so we could ask for it, the steak was cold. She brought the horseradish but it was too late to enjoy it. I have had ribeye that was much, much better for half the price. The wedge salad was fine. The Alfredo was over salted. The server took so long to take our initial drink order so we walked to the bar to order directly and the bartender made two Old Fashion that were good. The second ones ordered thru the server were not good and I sent mine back.
Went during restaurant week. Staff was friendly. The location is beautiful, but inside the ambience doesn't really match the price point or one's expectations. The cocktails were great. The food was decent. Went with two people and we all agreed all of our dishes were a bit too salty. The appetizer soup (sweet pumpkin) tasted like a dessert and the dessert, a tart pastry, tasty like it was just thawed. Pretty expensive for food that wasn't great. I'd go back in the day time for the view and cocktails.
The view was pretty service was not great waited 20 minutes for our ticket. Macaroni was very bland ordered grilled cheese which was dry toasted panini bread and my fries were cold. It was so so and we were going to order room service for breakfast but now we wont.
Had dinner at The View with my husband tonight. We were seated right away at the out door bar seating and the view was lovely. Unfortunately this was the best part of our experience at the resturant. We placed our order for truffle fries, filet mignon, and a salmon salad. 20 minutes after placing our order, were were delivered calamari so we sent it back. When the fries arrived another 10 mins later they didn't really taste like they had truffle oil or aoli, more like garlic and parsley but were hot and crunchy so we ate them. It was almost a full hour after seats when our entree arrived. The filet look like and had the consistency pot roast instead of a fine cut of steak. The flavor was passable so my husband ate it but would not recommend it. My salmon salad was well made. Whe. Our check arrived we noticed that the calamari we sent back was still on the check. The waitress fixed it right away. Between the service, quality of food, and the ants all over our seating area I wouldn't come to this resturant again even though it has a fantastic view.
Very nice view of Santa Cruz make sure you get the outdoor seating. Unfortunately we got there at 1:20 and our first serve was a sweet older lady was very attentive came by about 5 times from 1:20-2:00 since we had to wait until 2:00pm to order from the lunch menu. Our second server didn’t come and take our order until about 2:15 as we were hungry we ordered after waiting about 55minutes to actually be able to order some food. 40 minutes go by and its 2:55 now and a family that got there after us gets their food before us mind you during these 40 minutes our server only came by once initially to take our order.
The view from the outdoor deck is truly wonderful. I loved sitting with a friend at the low bar on the deck where we were both facing the view. And our server, Ira, was impeccable! They must have quite a good training program. However, the food was not great. My mocktail was drinkable and refreshing, but not very interesting. But the reason I gave a poor score is that the pasta on my ravioli was very thick and undercooked--I ate the filling only.
We were in town for valentines weekend so we decided to make a reservation for the valentines dinner here. We were seated quickly at our reservation time. The starter arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. While waiting for our mains we started to notice people that had been seated long after us were getting their food while we patiently waited. Our server stopped by to apologize for the wait and said it was due to them getting busy. That would have been understandable if our food hadn’t arrived lukewarm. The calamari starter and pacific grouper were quite good but my wife’s filet and prawns were not. We didn’t bother to hang around for dessert..
The view was amazing especially during the sunset. The food was not good. No flavor at all in the pasta or the steak. Even the fries were pretty mid. I would not recommend coming here if you’re looking for good food. Also had a table full of kids next to us who were very noisy and loud. For my birthday dinner definitely was not memorable.
I had both dinner and breakfast here. The dinner was good and had live music. The breakfast rotation is under staffed and the coffee mediocre. You would think a place this size has a competent barista that can pull an espresso. I paid five dollars for tasteless drip coffee. Hard to stomach, even if it’s five hundred a night here
Celebrated a birthday here and was unpleasantly surprised that the service was not good. Service was extremely slow, had to request for the buster and server to remove the plates multiple times, server hardly checked in on the table, silverware was not given prior to food showing up, desert was requested to be brought out multiple times but took 20 mins. I honestly could go on but you get the point. I will not be returning with a party more than 4 ppl. Hotel service on the other hand was amazing!!!! The front desk, valet, spa and fitness manager, pool staff and bartenders went over and beyond. 10 out of 10
We stayed overnight at the Chaminade and had both dinner and breakfast at The View. The setting is beautiful, but the dining experience didn’t match the atmosphere. Dinner was fine but forgettable. Our 6:30 reservation wasn’t ready, so we were seated at a different table with a lesser view. The waiter forgot the drinks menu, which caused some confusion. The food, including a burrata salad, scallops, chicken from the kids menu, and a side of wild mushrooms, was okay, and the service was friendly but disorganized. The scallops in particular felt like the chef was trying to do something more refined with them, but the result was just bland and soft, not elevated. When the bill came, there was no pen, so we signed with one of the crayons from the kids’ coloring set. Breakfast was worse. Coffee was served lukewarm and sloppily poured, and both coffee and tea came in large mugs without saucers, which felt out of place for an upscale restaurant. Table settings were inconsistent, and there was no small spoon for tea. The waiter took a long time to take our order, didn’t seem to be entirely present when he finely checked on us, didn’t write it down, and later came back to confirm, and of course got it wrong. Only part of the food arrived at first: pancakes, one side of fruit, and a bagel that came with lox even though we had asked for just cream cheese. When the waiter checked in and asked if everything was fine, we had to say no, it wasn’t. He admitted the order had been entered incorrectly and didn’t seem to know we had ordered the egg sandwich at all. The rest of the food followed after another wait. The second pour of coffee was at least hot. The two fruit sides looked completely different, one pale and sparse, the other colorful and fresh. It’s also worth noting that for a resort focused on wellness, the breakfast menu leaned heavily on eggs, potatoes, and bacon, with very little that felt genuinely fresh or healthy. We spent over an hour trying to have breakfast. Again, no pen was provided with the check, so the crayons made a return appearance. The coloring sheets for kids are a nice touch, though it was the same one at dinner and breakfast. Some variety would help for overnight guests. The View has a lovely location and kind staff, but both meals felt a step behind. Well-intentioned, but unevenly executed and out of sync with the resort’s healthy-living theme.
I've never had a more disappointing Sunday brunch that the one I just had at the View Restaurant. Practically everything was cold. The eggs benedict was cold, the potatoes were cold, even the roast beef was cold! There was literally just one waitress serving though in fact she never served anything. Never came to clear the plates, never came by to see if we would like a mimosa. The only time she came by was to give us a check. The cost was $75 a person - not the $55 they advertise. Included in the bill was 18% for the wait staff which deserved literally nothing. I will never return.
