Food was great and plentiful. Service is good and friendly however on this day they were busy and the waitresses seemed bothered unlike before. I may still go back for the food and price.
My friend and I came back from 9 months to eat and the owner still remembered us and sat us down to wherever was open. My appetizer the Bon Bon Chicken was really good. It was served promptly with the main meal. She even remembered the dish my friend always got and refilled our water frequently. 5 out of 5 stars! The soup is just as good as I remember.
My favorite Chinese restaurant ever!! The food is amazing and the wait staff makes me so happy to be there. Even when I order take out I always order in the restaurant because the atmosphere is relaxing and everybody is so nice. If you haven't tried Chinese village, do yourself a favor and stop by! My favorite is the garlic chicken chow mein but everything is delicious 😋
First time here on vacation. I'm always sketchy about trying Chinese for the first time but this is now a must stop when we're here. Staff is super friendly and thorough with your order. Food was EXCELLENT! Potstickers, egg rolls, cream cheese wontons and the absolute must was the garlic chicken chow mein!
This is a very clean, respectful and locally owned restaurant. My first time going, just opening the food made me happy, it looked amazing. It tasted amazing too, I have come back multiple times now, same service and quality every time.
The food was delicious! We ordered #3 it was more food than we could eat. The staff was very busy attending to all their customers needs. Highly recommend to have a meal here.
Ordered : Chicken chow mein + fried rice lunch special - 5/5. Awesome dish, but fried rice by default is pork fried rice. They were very accommodating in switching this to chicken fried rice especially after it had been served. Kung Pao Chicken - 5/5. Very flavorful, next time order it spicy. Vegetable Chow Fun (Gluten free, Vegan) - 5/5. The best gluten free chow fun I have had. Most other gluten free chow fun are flavorless due to no soy sauce, but this one was just amazing and tasty. Will Order Again - 5/5 . Definitely, this is my go to chinese place in Santa Cruz and I plan to visit this place everytime i am in Santa Cruz A great, family run chinese place that has its own touch to all the dishes. My favorite chinese restaurant now and I plan to try every dish I can eat at this place.
I've been going to Chinese Village since I was a little kid in the early 80's when it was at its old location on Portola. The food is outstanding! I've ordered many dishes and they've all been awesome. Some of my favorites are Kung Pao chicken, beef broccoli, garlic chicken chow mein, Mongolian beef, house pork, hot & sour soup is the best I've ever had, and the egg rolls are tasty & inexpensive. The portions are massive and everything is super affordable. It's one of the few places you can get a lunch special for $6-7. Sally and everyone there are always so nice too. This place really is a local gem. 🍚🍜🐲🇨🇳
Great Chinese food. Been coming here for years. Nice owners/pleasant staff. Good value. Hard to go wrong with this place! I like the Wor Wonton Soup a lot. Nice that they have chili oil and spicy sauce. I always love coming here when I’m in town.
I never expect much from American Chinese-food restaurants. With that being said, this place was great! Food was really nice, SoOoOo much better than an other “Hong Kong” Chinese-food place I had tried in town. You’ll enjoy this place, and it’s very reasonably priced.
Great food and amazing service. Great for large groups, several large round tables. I personally recommend the Hunan Chicken and if you like pot stickers you have to try the best, and they are made here. I've been coming here for years and it has become my go-to for Chinese food.
Great food, service is lacking a bit, but only because they stay so busy. No complaints about this place. We pass 3-4 other Chinese food places on our way to come here.
Best Chinese restaurant in the Santa Cruz area. Our favorite. Great lunch specials until 4pm! Reopened after a remodel and as good as ever!
The best food in the 831 area. Everything is so fresh the honey walnut shrimp and chicken fried rice is so delicious. The egg rolls are the best part they are fresh and come with orange sweet sauce.
Been going for many years. Good food, reasonable price. Same family has owned it for as long as as I have been eating there. When I am feeling a little ill, I go in for the seaweed soup, it always has me feeling better 🤗🙏
My husband and I ate in the restaurant. Friendly greeting at the door.We ordered Way too much on purpose, nothing like leftovers! Try the Wor Wonton Soup. It’s “to die for!”
So good still, even with new owners. It's so expensive though if you want everything. Maybe next time we will just get a couple containers of won ton soup.
Awesome food and plenty of parking. Super delicious and not greasy! Staff are super nice and friendly, will definitely be my new go-to for Chinese food!!
I AM NOT KIDDING WHEN I SAY THAT THIS IS THE VERY BEST CHINESE FOOD EVER I HAVE EATEN..THE FLAVORS BURST IN UR MOUTH..I CANT SAY WHAT WAS BEST BECAUSE IT WAS ALL PERFECTION AUTHENTIC AND WONDERFUL..THE ATMOSPHERE WAS Humbly WELCOMING..THE SERVICE WAS EXACTLY WHAT U WOULD EXPECT FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE...THE PORTIONS WERE MORE THAN GENEROUS..AND THE PRICES WERE MORE THAN BUDGET FRIENDLY...IF U LOVE CHINESE FOOD HERE IS UR FIND IN SANTA CRUZ... CLEARLY THE BEST I HAVE FOUND ever AND I WILL ORDER OUT AND DINE IN MANY TIMES.. over I am sure ..ORDER TO GO BEFORE 8:30 PM..A FIND A TRUE FIND
I have eaten here since b4 I could I walk. I remember the restraint when it was at the original location b4 moving to Capitola Ave. Bestvm Chinese food I've ever had. I was raised off this restaurants menu.
Lunch here this past weekend was great. The lunch specials were a great deal and portions were quite large. We were served soup upon arrival which was tasty. I ordered the Walnut Shrimp with the Pork Fried Rice add on and devoured it all. Lol There was a unique coconutty flavor on the shrimp but I thought it was delicious. The Salt and Pepper Wings were nice and crunchy and nicely seasoned. The only things I didn't enjoy were the Iced Tea and Sweet and Sour Pork that my friend ordered. She also said her water tasted weird. Other than that, we had a great experience and the service was excellent from everyone we encountered. Thank you!
Outstanding and long-established local Chinese Restaurant on Capitola Rd. Great food, friendly and efficient service, and impeccably clean, updated dining room with plenty of tables.

Best Chinese food I have had in Santa Cruz and probably the Bay Area for that matter. It's always piping hot and fresh, and very flavorful without being overly heavy. Prices keep me coming back as well. Lunch specials are their best deals, but even beyond that the prices are not bad. Service is OK, just sharp and to the point, which is fine. Overall, I'm very grateful to have this spot in Santa Cruz for consistent & delicious Chinese.
About 8 or 9 years ago, when I was still in high school, I sometimes went to the restaurant by myself. As a Chinese student, I would order one secret dish (fried eggs with shrimp or stir-fried sliced pork with dried tofu, etc.) or just a beef noodles. The owner was an old Chinese lady and she has always been very kind to me, she would ask if I had enough food or if I need extra rice to go. The waitress was an Chinese lady and she also very nice to me. I can still remembered all the things and their kindness meant a lot to me.
Best Chinese food in capitola area Great service awesome prices delicious food thank you
Excellent little place! The food is consistently good, and hot. The staff are always busy. Never just standing around. They definitely deserve a lot more attention and some more foot traffic! As a chef, I can say this is definitely a good spot for after the shift!
My family has been going to Chinese Village for over 30 years. Started with my Mom and now 3 generations later we all continue to go there. Both in their original location and the current one. I take my grandkids there all the time. It is our “go to” Chinese food place. Love their hot and sour soup! I can’t say I’ve had a bad thing there, all is good. Most of the dishes they make I have not found to be as good anywhere else. It is family owned and operated. I really like that and they are so welcoming and friendly that you feel that they are your friends serving you good, good for you medicinally too, food. I recommend them highly.
I Love this restaurant for lunch or dinner! The servers are super nice and the food is so Good and Tasty!! They will add more additional Veggies to what ever dish you order and not charge more. The waitress Lin, she is my favorite server,, she is so kind and thoughtful and is very attentive every time I've dined there. Please try the roast duck, if you enjoy duck, it's cooked to perfection, best in the area and not to expensive!!

Lunch specials, everyday, including weekends, under $9 and $8!!! The food was authentic and delicious. We enjoyed the garlic chicken chow mein and the eggplant with chicken over steamed rice. There is plenty of free parking behind the restaurant.
If you live in Live Oak like we do there's a couple of options for Chinese food. Dynasty in the El Rancho Center is a little more upscale but Chinese Village is a bit plainer. Mary and the staff do a good job. There's usually a lot of people eating there for dinner. You'll notice Bamboo restaurant just next door which hardly any people eat there. So if you have an option and you're not sure you better go to Chinese village.
The food tastes fine except it’s a bit too greasy and savory. Good value for the money. The food tastes better than Panda but not as good as the authentic Chinese food from Silicon Valley.
Food is great, Their hot and sour is delicious. The service started out well, but it seemed we were lost in time. It was not busy.
Definitely my favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is amazing.

Went to this place by chance. Love the food, generous portions. Had the family meal #3. Very reasonable prices. The only downside was the service. It was slow. Took too long to take our order. Had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled. Despite the service, will go back
The food was fine, only exception being the sweet and sour chicken which tasted like microwaved tortillas, service was average.
Each time I visit the quality is consistent and great. From their lunch special menu the Sally's Special is great if you like your greens with plenty of garlic and ginger. It's always worth trying something new there or asking for a recommendation. The house brewed black tea is also great.

Great food. I was very disappointed in the lady serving me I was helping a friend get dinner that didnt have money. Hes in recovery and I had only enough money on a card to pay for the dinner. I kindly thanked her and as I was walking out she singled me out and asked me if her service wasnt good enough and I replied yes and that I was taking someone out for dinner who didnt have money and when I told her that she just dismissed me. Well all that I can say is I probably will not spend my hard earned money there again.
A little funky with the service. Waitress was a bit cold. Food was plentiful but basic. I don't think the meat is made up there. Was like buffet food from overseas. When it got cold it was very chewy. But veggies are fresh. Price was good. But no alcohol even though it is on the menu?

Went with the family and we all ordered almond chicken. After receiving our plates we noticed one of them was missing almonds. I notified the waitress who laughed and brought a small plate with almonds to be tossed in the plate. After that, I asked the waitress if I could have chili oil. The waitress said they did not make chili oil. In terms of food portions, I received a very small plate with sweet and sour pork. The overall taste of everything was not great and I found it to be pricy. To top it off, at the end we were only provided with two fortune cookies for a party of four. I will definitely not be coming back.
Mongolian beef was 80% zucchini, 5% mushrooms, 5% peppers, and 10% beef. Veggies were horribly prepped. I might have been fine with my purchase had I not waited half an hour after arrival for food I ordered 45 minutes prior to arrival in a restaurant that had 1 table dining in and no other take out orders. I wont be returning. DO NOT RECOMMEND
The general tso's chicken was not good. The sauce did not look or taste like general tsos. It was also very thin and watery, not thick like it should be. The breading was bad, too thick, soggy, and immediately would fall off the chicken. Also, just two tiny pieces of broccoli. The egg rolls were crispy but had almost no filling. Two shreds of cabbage. The food was just not good at all and the decor inside is very depressing.
I have been coming to tgis fantastic restaurants for more than 15 years and it has been really good, new owners new to be pay better attention to their customers, lately it has been like waiting to get my order, than after eating i need to get up to get boxes and ask for my total, before they use to be so on top of it but no more, i wont be going back there, service is a 1 start for me.

I tried this place because it had the best reviews for Chinese food near me. 110% would never go back. As soon as we walked in there was a lady sitting at a table eating, a kid in her pajama sweats taking an order at a table for someone else and a cook who looked right at us and said nothing. The lady sitting at the table looked at us a couple times before she came to help us and had an attitude the whole time. The pricing itself was disappointing. $10.99 for JUST orange chicken. I can go to any other Chinese place and they offer fried rice and chow mein with your entrees for $12. I said screw it and ordered the orange chicken anyways and my fiance orders a combination plate (they had only pork combo plates not chicken). We get our food and my orange chicken ended up being chicken with the orange sauce on the side for me to pour myself. The orange sauce was dark brown and super watery it was just a mess and for them to put it in a paper container just ended up more of a mess when it started leaking through the seems. My fiance opens his plate and they gave him a very small portion of sweet and sour pork (about 4-5 small shrived up prices of pork) and a pile of sweet and sour sauce.. and the rest of the plate was dominated with rice and chow mein. They also didn't have forks so we had to drive up the street and grab forks from KFC. Between the ladies attitude and the disappointment in the food we definitely won't be coming back
We ordered the number 3 family special for take out. I could barely eat any of it. First of all, it was cold. The chicken chow mean had no flavor, and the bbq pork was disgusting! The sweet and sour pork was not edible at all. I’m not sure how they get 5 stars from other customers, they’ve never had authentic Chinese food. I will never go back, and will tell people to never go there.
I've never walked out of a place without eating until I tried eating here. the Orange chicken looked horrible and tasted worse. I was nearly sick just from the taste. I've had better Chinese food from the frozen section of a grocery store.
Overcharged for items that are supposed to come with the order. “Just changed it yesterday “ I asked the name of the person to speak to, woman on the phone said it doesn’t matter. She is rude. Will be my last order from you. Should have been $83 with tax was charged $10 over
I ordered hot and sour soup and kung pao chicken to go. The hot and sour soup was okay but the Kung Pao chicken was just a mess of over cooked zucchini and some tasteless meat. I'm not sure it was chicken, it was inedible. A complete waste of money!

I would like to firstly say that this is not my first disappointing interaction with them. Today my friend and I went , this was our third time attending. We have had bad service here before but we thought to ourselves- let’s give it another shot! Since it’s close to home. First visit , she was passive aggressive but we felt that she was just having a bad day. Second visit , they had us waiting for our drinks for 15 + minutes. Other guests come after and sat down, they get their drinks- while we still didn’t have ours so I had to go up and kindly remind them. Third visit ( Today) We asked for napkins at our table ( it’s two ) and she says “ here , one napkin.” I also didn’t get the correct order. We went in during lunch special and I asked for Walnut shrimp with rice, and to please add chow mien ($4 more I was okay with.) When I brought this up, she was being rude saying how regular customers know that it’s either / or. I’m not a regular but if my menu says with rice and $4 to add chow mien , I would have expected both.. When it came to paying , I pointed out how I was paying for the shrimp and rice (13+) and $4 for the chow mien all though my rice was not added, till when I mentioned it she said “this one time” for the rice to be served . At the end my friend and I decided this will be our last time attending after a third time of bad service.
Horrible horrible. I just had surgery, so my family and I opted to dine-out for the first time ever on Christmas. We chose Chinese Village based on others ‘ reviews - that was a mistake. I placed a $100+ order online and my husband headed to the restaurant at our allotted pickup time. As he arrived, there was a chaotic scene of multiple people with online orders, one of whom had been waiting for over an hour for her order. He said the employee was elusive and unavailable to answer questions. 25 minutes later(30 minutes after our scheduled pickup time), another customer approaches an employee out of frustration with the fact his order his still not ready. The employee tells him that the online system is being spotty and some orders aren’t going through(the customer he’s speaking with gets upset and leaves in anger). My husband hears this and immediately asks if they received our order. NOPE. I ordered through the site listed on their very own website. The real kicker? No employee mentioned this to the numerous individuals waiting for orders. Just a bunch of customers lying in wait to find out if there orders were successfully placed or not… super unprofessional. No apology from the staff. Nothing.
Was the worst chicken chowmein I've had, really dried, no flavor, hot sauce had no flavor just spicy. The soup was also really sour nasty, Never going back.
