Locale pulito e ben posizionato nel nucleo storico di santa Maria Maggiore. Qualità buona, gli affettati, con lo gnocco fritto, sono buonissimi. I secondi piatti, soprattutto il brasato con la polenta, sono di ottima qualità e i prezzi sono in linea con la qualità del prodotto. Per aver visto, belle le pizze e, dal profumo, invitanti. I ragazzi addetti al servizio mi sono sembrati disponibili ma soprattutto preparati e educati. Consigliato.

Mi trovavo per caso presso S. Maria Maggiore e ho provato questo ristorante che si presentava piuttosto bene. Il personale è abbastanza cortese ed il cibo è di ottima qualità. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è perfetto: ho provato questo controfiletto allegato in foto con patatine fritte e devo dire che la carne era cotta perfettamente e tenera. Il servizio infine è stato molto rapido. Ci tornerò!

Abbiamo pranzato in quattro persone a mezzogiorno. Come anticipato abbiamo scelto un tagliere di salumi, davvero ottimi e di qualità. Abbiamo poi ordinato due piatti di gnocchi al pomodoro: buoni, preparati con pomodoro fresco; l'unica pecca è stata la presenza di qualche buccia di pomodoro. Continuiamo con la polenta con salsiccia e funghi, molto buona e porzione abbondante e le tagliatelle ai funghi, anch'esse molto buone e abbondanti. Abbiamo concluso il pasto con un buon strudel di mele e un bonet buono, anche se a mio parere leggermente troppo cotto. Il personale gentile. Mi permetto solo di dare un consiglio: il pane tagliato a fette andrebbe servito separatamente dai pacchetti di grissini. Nel complesso, abbiamo mangiato bene

Excellent restaurant in the beautiful village of Santa Maria Maggiore. The atmosphere is very pleasant and well-decorated. The polenta with mushrooms and the stew are excellent. There's also a charming shop selling local wooden art.

We stopped for lunch during a workday. The restaurant has a spacious and well-designed dining room. The daily specials are good, and pizza is also available. The desserts were still influenced by the pumpkin festival held a few days earlier. We enjoyed the strudel and pumpkin tart, as well as the pumpkin cream and the game polenta, although perhaps too spicy and risking overpowering the flavor of the meat.

Good lunch, friendly staff, and willing to accommodate customers with food intolerances. I wasn't too impressed with the tiramisu, as if it were something different from the standard... degustibus. The waiter was very friendly. They allow dogs in their shaded courtyard, which is a plus.

I thought that the pizza was among the best in Italy, and at a price comparable to elsewhere with a “prominent” location; my dessert was a good bit more expensive than I expected, not worth it. I wholeheartedly recommend the pizzas; I doubt that you can find better pizzas anywhere (judging by mine.)

Situato in pieno centro paese in zona pedonale vicino alla chiesa, al museo dello spazzacamino e alla casa del profumo con grande parcheggio pubblico gratuito poco distante. Il servizio è cortese ma al quanto anonimo così come i piatti serviti e anche la pizza. Prezzi medi. Annesso piccolo negozio con vendita prodotti gastronomici e non ma tutto abbastanza caro.

My friends and I went for lunch during the Santa Maria Maggiore Christmas markets scheduled for last week, and we stopped at this restaurant. We had booked in advance because we knew it might be busy, but we were hoping for a better experience. The owners and waiters, likely under pressure from the event, were quite disorganized and made a few mistakes. The dishes offered were specific to the event, and my personal choice was decent, nothing more. The restaurant is very distinctive and therefore particularly worth a visit, and the ingredients used were certainly fresh and traditional. Despite some difficulties related to the management of the event, I appreciate the atmosphere and the quality of the ingredients. I'm sure the experience would be more enjoyable at a less chaotic time.

Abbiamo mangiato bene ma il posto è sacrificato, ci hanno messo in fondo alla stanza, attaccati ad altri tavoli e al muro, non si riusciva a muoversi. Il bagno è minuscolo (ho accompagnato mia figlia e non ci stavamo dentro in due) e nemmeno tenuto benissimo. Si può decisamente migliorare!

We stopped for lunch, having booked well in advance. We ordered charcuterie boards, and they were awful: thickly sliced, tough, and "thrown" on the board, so the presentation also left much to be desired. The stew was dry, and the polenta was good, especially since the main courses were ALL polenta-based. Let's just say there are definitely better places to eat.

I don't like writing bad reviews, so I'll just say that the selection of beers can use improvements both in variety and quality for a start; the food we had tasted decent, but the deer I had didn't quite come off the bone as one would expect, which leads me to believe the meet wasn't slow cooked or pre-boiled, but just treated in wine and then cooked straight up. It still tasted nice though. Service was weird, unlike so many Restaurants in Italy it would appear Locarno doesn't believe in bringing bread to the table. Waiting also could have used some 'winding down', but I'm blaming it on young age. Did not try teir pizzas, which looked nice. Location is very nice, and close to bars and a huge parking lot, with but a few improvements this could turn into a proper money maker.

Poor Service. Not focused (at least to serve us tourists with hungry children) while using all the time to prioritise the locals. Food.... Tjjja.... Bottom line: go next door.

Absolutely negative experience. Arriving at 7:30 PM, we waited an hour for a platter and the child's cutlet to arrive. Once the platter was finished, we waited another 30 minutes for our first courses, which were inedible! The risotto was overcooked and falling apart, the pappardelle were sticky, and the sauce tasted sour. The result? We left our plates uneaten. The only positive note was the friendliness of the staff, both in the dining room and at the cash register, where they apologized by deducting the first courses from our final bill.

Tonight my husband and I ordered two appetizers, which arrived after 50 minutes and were cold. We asked for bread, and they told us they didn't have any, but there were some breadsticks left. So we had a focaccia made because we didn't have any. In theory, if you run out of bread, you should give me the option of eating something similar, like focaccia. In fact, it arrived, but I had to pay for it. Finally, we ordered two pumpkin risottos with crispy bacon, but the bacon wasn't there, and the rice was overcooked. We couldn't eat it, and we paid €44 for the whole thing. We won't be setting foot in there again.

Behind the restaurant is also a place outside, which is okay-ish. The pizza is really not so amazing, but okay, also not very bad. The dishes we ordered came in separately. The meat of one dish was cold. The pizza's don't have great quality, when it comes to the crust and the quality of the toppings and the preparation. But, they're a good price and when you can't find anything better and your expectations are not too high, then this is fine. Nice service, friendly people. /// !!!! /// An update: my mother ordered a pizza with fish and got really sick during the night, and is now (a day later) still not better. She didn't finish the pizza and already suspected the fish didn't look good.
