Opinions de Sol Agave Santa Monica
The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Pollo al Gusto and Tacos del Mar. and the flight of Margaritas. Our excellent server was Alexandra. All A+
Really a nice place for dinner, close to the Santa Monica Pier. The food was excellent. The servers were attentive while not being distractive. The atmosphere was great.
An outstanding Mexican dining experience. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and every dish was beautifully presented. The ambiance was lively yet comfortable, and the service was excellent. A must-visit for anyone who loves Mexican cuisine.
Best food I had during my visit to Santa Monica from Texas. Everything was outstanding from start to finish. Eric behind the bar was on it, mixing fantastic margaritas, especially the skinny margarita, which was incredible. Luis, the manager, made it a point to personally welcome me and stop by to chat, which really elevated the experience. You can tell the whole staff works together as a true team. The service was impeccable. The filet mignon enchiladas were unreal. I honestly cannot say I have ever had better enchiladas anywhere. Sol-Agave is a must visit and easily one of the highlights of my trip. Highly recommend!
The food was fresh and flavorful, and everything came out quickly. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, making it an easy place to sit and enjoy a meal. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a solid spot that I’d be happy to visit again.
What a great night we had with family. Nice big table for the five of us out on the patio with heaters. Eric was fantastic and took great care of us! And he knows his tequila ;-). The food was excellent - grilled romaine salad, bbq ribs, carnitas, sea bass, and more. We’ll be back!
Wandered in from the pier after looking at close restaurants with great Google reviews. Oscar made my meal really enjoyable. He made a delicious Oaxacan Old Fashioned (hint: ask for a Tajin rim) and the tacos were delicious. Highly recommend for friendly staff, delicious tacos (although this is NOT a taco place), and yummy drinks!
Amazing place. The food is absolutely incredible and made with a lot of love and care. They are very accommodating. The vibe is very warm and welcoming. You will feel right at home. It's worth the walk a couple blocks from the pier to sit down and have lunch, happy hour (2 to 6 PM) or dinner.
The Mexican place right across from the hotel—we were starving and just walked right in. Turned out it was Taco Tuesday: 2 for $10. The steak taco with homemade blue corn tortillas was delicious. Salsa and chips were on the house. Mar Y Tierra is just like an enchilada— filled with cheese, steak, and bean sauce. Highly recommended. The margarita was pretty good too.
The best place with Mexican cuisine I know! The atmosphere is very nice and I just enjoy being here and sitting inside and outside. Very friendly staff, they’re very kind and cool! Food is really good too! The pulpo a las brasas (the one that is on the picture) is what you MUST TRY! The best octopus I’ve ever had. Also, the shrimp tacos are very moisturized and delicious. In addition to the regular menu, the churros from the deserts is really tasty as well! Food looks exactly just like on the pictures from the menu. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and come back again! 🫶🏻
Came in late, having just travelled from the East Coast of Canada and was looking for some good sit down food and stumbled upon this place a few minutes walk from my hotel. The staff had just closed the kitchen but immediately said they could still whip me and my partner up something. We ordered the Ceviche, the Tacos Del La Mar, and the Sirloin. The food was amazing! And the margarita and Mojito were perfect. The staff stopped by and were very attentive, would definitely recommend.
Everything is soo good. You can't go wrong with any dish. Every time we come to Santa Monica, we have to stop in. The food, service, music, vibe is just that, A Vibe. Restaurant is in the heart of everything, walking distance from the beach and pier. One thing about this place is it's consistency. I come maybe twice a year and its always a stellar time.
Ordered takeout for dinner from Sol Agave, which is right across the street from our hotel this visit. The restaurant is beautiful inside, the service at the bar was excellent, and most importantly, the food here was fantastic. We absolutely loved the bean dip that comes along with the chips and salsa!
Totally amazing service one of the top Mexican restaurants I have been into. I came in a bit late, but they really attended to me very well. I’m a vegetarian and they had plenty of options and even though vegetarian menu also a kids menu as well. The beers are amazing. The wine is amazing. The staff is so friendly and if there was a chance, I would’ve given them six out of five well done and thank you so so much. Try the local Chardonnay and fajita. It’s totally amazing.
We came here as a baby shower dinner with close family to celebrate on a weekday. The food was phenomenal! I got the prawn enchilada which was the best enchilada I have had! It was so tasteful with good quality ingredients, cheese and the sauce was so flavorful! Our table also got fajitas and carnita tacos that were amazing. The ambience was wonderful and aesthetically pleasing. Our server was kind and accommodating. This Mexican restaurant combines everything perfectly! I wish I had tried it earlier, we will be back!
We had a nice time joining this restaurant, our waiter Mani was very attentive and professional, he brought us chips, salsa and bean dip which was very tasty 10/10. The ambience was good too! For starters we had Sugar Cane Filet medium 5/10, Shrimp taquitos 7/10, jalapeño cream soup 8/10. For entree we had enchiladas de langosta 8/10, tacos Del Mar 7/10 and lastly drinks: Luna roja margarita 10/10, luna roja margarita with vodka , cilantro cucumber margarita 5/10. We didn’t get dessert because not to much variety and I was full! Thanks again for a great time and see you next time!!!
Excellent food, location, service and atmosphere! This Mexican Restaurant is one of the best in LA and is worth your time. Upon entrance, Benjamin was welcoming, attentive and warm. You can tell he takes pride in ensuring an exceptional experience. Lauren was a helpful server who provided recommendations, and Chef Adrian is masterful. Atmosphere is perfect for family or business events as well as date night. If you love sea bass, try the Del Mar Sea Bass - it is seasoned to perfection and melts in your mouth. Indulge in the chips and salsa. And compliment your meal with the Grilled Romaine Salad and Guacamole Sampler. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We were looking for a good Mexican restaurant and found Sol-Agave online with good reviews, so we decided to try it out. We were seated promptly and requested patio seating (great little view). We ordered fajitas, a few kids meals, shrimp meal, and guacamole appetizer per our waiters suggestion (Edgar). He was very informative and provided answers to all our menu questions. We were happy with the food and service. The chips were brought out warm (which we love), salsa, and beans. Highly recommend!
Has a separate vegetarian menu with a decent options which is great for vegetarians. Our host was probably new but service was still decent
Soul-agave is a well run professional operation with good service, good food, and a pleasant ambience with nicely spaced tables. The food is pretty good, especially considering that this is a bit of a chain operation. The chips are fresh thin and crispy. Guacamole is flavorful and not too onion-y. We had a quesadilla with a variation of steak inside and it was quite good. Both the quality of the quesadilla and the steak were admirable. Our spinach enchiladas were equally good with a nice cream sauce. Dessert very flavorful. All in all, quite good and a reliable option especially for small groups even if the cost is just a bit pricey for what you get.
May 2025 Second time to check out Sol Agave. Lunch hour was perfect. My friend and I both ordered the Cadillac Margarita and we shared the Grilled Romaine salad and the Chile Relleno dish which comes with 2, one cheese and the other cheese and carnitas ( pork). Service was on point, efficient and the drink and food beautifully presented and tasted fantastic! My friend said this was one of the best margaritas she has ever had! ------- Food was Great! Flavorful! Nicely presented. I will return for the food. Cocktails too! I ordered the spicy strawberry margarita and it was delicious. Service was just okay. There were seven of us and we were seated in the front patio, with reservations. It was a warm humid Summer evening, but once I acclimated to the temperature, it was fine. Inside had a nice AC. The piped in music was LOUD, disco loud, which made it difficult to have a conversation. There are TVs showing sports too. Our waiter was polite and matter of fact. When we asked for something outside of the menu, he said, " NO", but when I offered a suggestion, he said he would ask the chef, and in the end we got what we wanted. They do have a nice Happy Hour menu and this is 7 days a week!
Great Mexican food! We love their octopus and sugar cane filets. Very authentic tastes. Only one downside is the kids salmon is a bit too salty. Other than that everything is great with Sol Agave! Recommend this place if visiting Santa Monica! Tip: REMEMBER to validate your parking ticket to get 90 minutes free parking.
My wife and I had an 8:15 PM reservation for Valentine’s Day and unfortunately experienced one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. We checked in on time, yet several parties who joined the waitlist after us were seated before us despite our confirmed reservation. Once seated, the service continued to decline. We were looked at multiple times by staff but not acknowledged. It took about 15 minutes for our waiter to ask if we’d like drinks and another 10 minutes just to receive water. The lack of attentiveness was noticeable from the start. One of the most concerning moments happened when an employee came around delivering tortilla chips to multiple tables and skipped ours entirely, as well as another Black family nearby. When we asked for chips and salsa, we were told there were none left. About 10 minutes later, another batch was brought out and again distributed to surrounding tables and once again, both our table and the same Black family were skipped. That pattern was difficult to ignore. Throughout the evening, we observed that many guests who appeared to be white were seated inside promptly and attended to right away, while we a same-sex couple of a different race experienced significant delays and minimal service. We also saw other families who were not white receiving similarly delayed or avoided service, to the point that one party chose to leave. Whether intentional or not, the disparity in treatment was noticeable and deeply disappointing. The food itself did not redeem the experience. My wife’s tortillas were extremely hard, and overall the meal was underwhelming. When I spoke to the manager, he offered a round of drinks or dessert. That response felt dismissive. This wasn’t about receiving something complimentary it was about the overall treatment, organization, and fairness of service. Additionally, when I initially asked for the manager, I was told he wasn’t available, and the hostess’s attitude was unnecessarily rude. Valentine’s Day is meant to be special, and this experience was disappointing from start to finish
