Seafood enchilada special with jalepeno cheese sauce was amazing! Flavors came together so well.
One of the best Mexican restaurants ive ate at in a very long time! the food was great, but the bar tenders and servers were better! the only thing i have to say is get there early because if not the wait can be long, but that just tells you its worth it!
Always great selection of tequila, mezcal and margaritas! My favorite is the Cadillac with Cas Amigos. Favorite foods are the cheese crisp with either jalapeño or refried beans, Aztec Torta, Enchiladas and for me, the Mussels Diablo are to die for! Always a favorite restaurant spot for our family. We had a wonderful family dinner on a rainy Monday night and had absolutely exceptional service!
Celebrated National Margarita Day! Very tasty blood orange, and Cadillac margaritas, our boys loved their shredded beef tacos, my husband had the Chicken Mole, and I have the Three Amigos platter of enchiladas food was delicious and staff was super, place was busy but quickly got people seated and served
As always, Casa Del Sol is worth the wait. The food is perfect and the young wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. One of our party had a food allergy and Lea, our wait staff member, knew her menu....and the one thing she wasn't sure, she went back to talk to the chef!! My only regret is that I don't live closer. Kudos to young Lea and her excellent service!
Fun Mexican spot just outside of downtown Saranac Lake. Easy to find with a big parking lot. They recently had some damage to the outside of the building but rest assured they are most definitely open. Cozy space with plenty of seating and even a bar! Take a look around and admire the local art and fun Mexican themed decorations (loved the classic Matador poster!). Friendly staff and a great drink menu, the margarita was 10/10. Food menu has all of the staples and everything we had was delicious (chipotle shrimp are spicy but delicious). Chips come with some great red and green salsa too. Will definitely be back
The place was pretty busy but they got us in and we sat at the bar. Actually really enjoyed that. The bartender was great and super friendly. Had some delicious margaritas! They serve two kinds of chips with two kinds of salsa. One of the chips was flour based and I did not like it as much. It fell apart rather easily. Next time I may just ask for the corn tortilla chips. The food was wonderful. We had enchiladas, a burrito, and Aztec tortas. Would definitely go back.
Only had the appetizers and drinks. Both really good. Had the roulette peppers and molitos with blood orange margarita.
1. Food: Food was a perfectly fine quality for Mexican cuisine, but the portions were lacking and we all snacked once home. 2. People: Everyone was helpful when answering questions and happy to tell us about the their favorites. 3. Timing: We did wait some for food, but none of us ran out of things to talk about. 4. Price: I unfortunately won’t give this star since the quantities of food were less than suitable. Tourist towns have notoriously heightened prices, but we snacked at home and were limited to one bowl of chips and salsa. 5. Facility: They have a wonderfully bright and well themed building inside and out. The walls are adorned with sombreros and cultural artwork and the building mimics Mexican architecture.
Fun place. Food was good. Service was typical. I'm spoiled on really great Mexican food so I'm difficult to please. So a four is very good coming from me.
I've dined here for decades, all the way back to the days when Harry perched at the end of the bar. The food has been mostly consistent - not top notch Mexican but serviceable. Drinks seem much weaker than the old days (or else I have a bigger tolerance 😂). Service can be a little inconsistent, but overall good. My biggest gripe is that the music is terrible for the otherwise good atmosphere. I mean I love The Tragically Hip and Stone Temple Pilots...but NOT when I am eating Mexican food. For the love of queso, please play some Latin music!
Giving this a 3 star, brought up only because of service and generally good atmosphere as it appears a popular place. However the food and portion sizes are sub-par to say the least, and over priced. It appears this place survives due to low competition, not an impressive restaurant overall unfortunately.
Very hot inside. They give you a very small bowl of chips and salsa and tell you there is a charge for more. They sold Pepsi products which I prefer. Waitress was very nice and attentive but food just wasn’t good. It tasted like they need to hire a Mexican cook. Chicken in my taco tasted like canned chicken with no added flavoring, just a little lettuce and tomato. No queso or sour cream. They charged $2.00 for a dip sized sour cream. That would have been fine if the food had any flavoring. I love Mexican food and this might be the worse I’ve had. So disappointed. Hubby got the spicy and said it too didn’t have flavor. He dumped hot sauce on it just to have some taste.
Food isnt really good.. i had queso that seperated and had big chunks of onion in it. I wish people would stop trying to always put some type of flair on foods that are just fine in their authenticity. The enchiladas had a really bold wierd flavor also. They considered whole pinto beans as refried. Now the drinks were good, as long as you get something that is tequila based( they have alot if tequila) The bartender was very nice and social. The actual tortilla chips were good and so was the salsa.
Long wait. Small portions. Incredibly expensive. Least authentic Mexican food that I have ever tasted. Very bland.
DOWNHILL!! Harry would roll over in his grave! I understand not having original recipes but this is bad overpriced Mexican imitation food. They have even lost the art of a decent Margo! Well then again no wait on a Friday night👀!! Back in the day it was a 90 minute wait after 4:45pm. Save your money.
Been a bit since I went there. I usually love the margaritas but they had no taste to taste to the mix. Use to love the chili qeuso but it had way to much salt and the chips appeared to be salty too. I also loved the flour chips but they don't do them. It was so much better a year ago
