Opinions de Maurice's Sandwich Shop Schenectady
On our thirty hour car ride from Colorado to Boston, Maurice’s Delicatessen was a delightful stop on our last day. These well made and delicious sandwiches were exactly what we needed to carry us through to the end. I got a turkey sandwich with garlic mayo (pictured) which was phenomenal. My friend got the half sandwich with the chicken tortellini soup which was also delicious! The staff were very friendly and quite funny. If you find yourself hungry in Albany, this is the place for you.
The roast beef sandwich was delicious and really hit the spot. I also had the turkey soup which didn't dissappioint either. Great spot to grab a bite, and they have many other deli options, but I would really suggest the roast beef
Staff are friendly, sandwiches are amazing and the guy behind the grill is really into his craft. Highly recommend the grilled pastrami with Swiss and caramelized onions on rye.
We were going to a concert and we are standing in the parking garage and asked some construction workers a good place to go and eat and they told us to go to Maurice‘s so I looked it up and I saw a picture of an amazing roast beef sandwich and two seconds later we walked down the street walked in and had one of the best roast beef sandwiches I probably ever had in my life and I’ve eaten a lot of roast beef sandwiches. Albany is about an hour and 20 minutes from my house and I wouldn’t even think twice about driving back up there to get another one.
All the sandwiches have always been great. That salad bar has lots of options and is always fresh! If they have the marinaded chicken and portobello sandwich on special that’s definitely our favorite!
This is my go to place for my albany visits. Place has an unbelievable Rubén sandwich which i add some vegetables to. The guys at the prep station are gentlemans and the lady at the register is lovely. Don't miss this spot.
The best roast beef sandwich I have ever had for sure. Keith and staff are awesomely friendly and made us feel right at home. Definitely coming back...
Excellent, highly recommend! First time here, I walked by it and decided to stop in. He recommended the roast beef sandwich. That’s not normally my go to, but I was really glad I tried it! Cooked in house, dipped in au jus, fresh hard roll - delicious. Good selection of chips and drinks, the pickle tasted like a genuine sour crispy deli pickle. The interior was spacious and clean.
10/10 Rueben. Best deli in Albany! Hands down!
Get the Ruben you will not be disappointed. Hand cut and grilled. It's a very satisfying experience.
People and the food are authentic. Get the Reuben wrap and you can thank me later🤌

Great local deli spot.. lived in albany for 30 years..a must go to place!
Stop by and got 2 delicious sandwiches one turkey and one roast beef sliced fresh and medium rare going back today
Delicious and fresh food with great service. Will definitely be back!
Can't beat their roast beef sandwich. The staff is always friendly.
Best roast beef in the area!!! Very prompt for a quick lunch.
Best roast beef sandwiches around.
Fabulous food, fabulous customer service. I highly recommend!!!! Will absolutely be back.
NYC style, excellent chicken salad and roast beef. Great service
best deli i’ve eaten at since moving upstate. reminds me of home
Very efficient set-up. Everything moves along quickly.
The soups are great! Homemade taste. Great service!
Best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had.
Great Roast Beef sandwiches! Lovely staff
Get the Reuben and thank me later 😎
Great sandwiches! Not a fan of the pickles 😊
Delicious and healthy sandwiches and soups! Great people.
Great place to eat. Healthy food that tastes great
12:15 and the process was expedient while the quality was fresh. Thanks
Amazing staff and coffee ☕️
Very nice and the food is tasty
Fantastic roast beef sandwhich
Great place for a quick lunch.
Best Roast Beef in Albany period!!!
Food is great as always!!!!
Good luck with the new place! Great food and a place where you feel true American values. Thank you for the warm welcome today! A day prior to the new place opening and yet, you guys welcomed us in just like if we were part of the family. This means a lot about the kind of people that runs this place. Keep up the great work!
Always the best sandwiches and deli experience in Albany. I’m a New York City guy and I’ve known Keith and Todd for a really long time, they are fantastic guys, always remember me when I come in. But SERIOUSLY try the famous roast beef sandwich!
One of the best lunch spots in the Capitol Region. All home made. I've had the standard roast beef and the chicken salad, and it's phenomenal. You owe yourself to try this place.
Great deli. The sandwiches and the half sours are both top notch. I've yet to have a bad lunch here. They are usually pretty busy when I stop in, but the service is always very fast and very friendly.
Love when I visit the food is good everybody that works there is wonderful Great spot to grab a bite to eat before a show or an event at the mvp Arena wish they were open on the weekends more frequently because I would totally swing by
Stopped on a trip back to Canada and the food is so damn good it would be worth driving across the border just to eat here! 10/10
Tried the pastrami sandwich. It was soo good & flavorful. Highly recommend. Long line during the lunch time but fast service. Friendly staff.
Th best Reuben I’ve ever eaten 😭🤍 if I could 17 of them I would
Lived in NYC for 20 years, yet this is the best roast beef I've ever had. So good, I had two! The address is 50 S Pearl St, not 15
We from Buffalo. Here for a concert. Stopped in My man got a Pastrami Sandwhich. I had a few bites cuz I'm not into Pastrami like he is. I have to say Omg The Best Sandwhich Ever!!! He thought so 2. Definitely 👍
One of the best places downtown for breakfast or lunch. The new place looks great. Food service is quick, even quicker if you call ahead. Staff are always friendly. Food is always fresh and tasty.
I have greatly enjoyed the two veggie and cheese sandwiches I have gotten at Maurice's. The staff is friendly. I asked for yellow mustard and they didn't have it - just seems like an odd omission.
Having moved from Queens, I lived in East Greenbush (Albany area) for nearly a year before I even knew about Maurice's. During that time (when I didn't know about Maurice's), I constantly pined for the pastramis of Ben's and the Second Avenue Deli. When I first found out about Maurice's, I was a bit excited but reined in my enthusiasm because I didn't believe they could hold a candle to the Jewish / Jewish-style delicatessens of the southern part of the state. As I ripped open my brown bag with Maurice's hot pastrami sandwich, I primed myself for the almost inevitable disappointment I've experienced with Albany's food over and over. Then, the moment of truth arrived. With one bite of Maurice's hot pastrami, my entire world outlook changed. I believe if I relocated to the New York City area again, I'd be pining for Maurice's and looking to when I could next make the trip to Albany. Some direct comparisons (of the hot pastrami): Maurice's vs. Ben's (of Westchester / Long Island): Maurice's wins by a good amount. Maurice's vs. Katz's (of Manhattan): Katz's wins, but hey, Katz's is really, really hard to beat. Maurice's vs. Second Avenue Deli: Close to a tie, and personally, I actually prefer Maurice's. I certainly don't miss Second Avenue anymore. Maurice's vs. Saratoga Broadway Deli: Maurice's crushes Saratoga. Saratoga's portions are much, much smaller, and Maurice's taste is better. Saratoga's taste is still good, though. My two minor gripes, which in my opinion can be fixed with relative ease, are: (1) Improve the cole slaw. It shouldn't be an afterthought. It isn't bad, and I'll continue to get it, but it's not up to par with even Ben's. (2) Sell some knishes!! (And some good ones, at that.) Also, I might add the both the guys behind the counter and the girls at the register were exceptionally friendly. Thank you, Maurice's, and may you be here with the same quality pastrami for many years! (Or, at least until I move out of the area.)
First timer at Maurices. Won’t be my last time. Best Buffalo chicken wrap I’ve had in a while. Reminds me of what I get when I am on Long Island. Keep up the good work, Maurice.
Wanted a pastrami on rye at a real New York deli and it did not disappoint.
Great stop on our way home from Stowe! Great sandwiches and friendly service , definitely recommend !
Fast friendly food fair prices great selection subs and sandwiches and soups and salads good place fer lunch if ur in downtown with gluten free options
Delicious. Accommodating and friendly staff. Ask and they'll make pretty much whatever you want if they can. Great local feel.
Awsome sandwiches. Its like a tray line kind of set up so its fast and convenient. Prices are good and food is great.
Very quick, extremely friendly service. Best sandwiches I've had in the albany area BY FAR. Definitely will be back!
Excellent food here, the line out the door is always a sign of a good place but don't worry about waiting long, they move that line along very fast. Great little place
Nice and clean, food was good and fresh, amazing cold salads and staff just had that welcoming vibe nice venue definitely going to be making a regular spot.
Have not had this sandwich since the Schenectady location. Loved it.
The roast beef sandwich is out of this world. Haven't even tried anything else but I hear the pastrami is great too.
Greatest roast beef sandwich I’ve ever eaten. Friendly atmosphere and nicest owners.
Friendly staff, fresh and crisp salads with housemade dressings, and excellent prices. Also, the pickles are delicious.
Awesome lunch! 1/2 a sandwish (fresh turkey and bacon) and cup of Italian Wedding soup, wow!
Awesome roast beef, definitely the best in the area. Phenomenal pickles, too, Highly recommended.
Amazingggg! I got the half Sammy & cup soup combo, the creamy chicken soup was absolutely delicious flavor & full of ingredients. Tuna Sammy was so good (pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, & sweet pickles). Staff are super friendly, quick, and engaging. Definitely will now be my go to from here on out.
Excellent! Can't believe I waited so long to try this place! It took my colleague eatting here almost every day for a week to convince me. I got a ruben but substituted corned beef (my typical deli order) - it was the best sandwich I have had in ages. I got the Cuke Salad and it taste just like mom's (maybe even better). Prices are incredibly reasonable too.
This place is amazing, from the food, to the layout, and all the way to the staff. It's my favorite lunch spot. My go-to is roast beef on a hard roll or an Italian mixed sub. But today I got the fried chicken sandwich special...oh my god. It's the best sandwich I've ever had! Get the chipotle mayo on it!
My wife and I have been looking for a good breakfast spot to eat. We have move up here from the city. We use to go to the famous Katz deli to get a pastrami sandwich. We decided to come here to get a pastrami sandwich. Let me tell you I felt like I was at Katz Maurice pastrami sandwich was just as good and really tasty. We found a great spot that we will be definitely revisiting again. I highly recommend this place 👌.
This is a very nice place! Personable people and very clean. That's an A+!!! They have a salad bar, plenty of seats, and an awesome variety of food. I just bought a fish fry, and my co-worker bought a shrimp basket. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back.
Pitstop with Trailways bus to Montreal and managed to get a delicious 😋 seafood sandwich with all the toppings and had to admit this is a family business one should support instead of the Subway next door that was my original destination. It’s hard to buy stuff (yogurt) when there is no price tag but I have noticed that restaurants have to pay for ingredients that keep going up in price. Regular items are on the menu before you order your sandwich. Went across the street and got a Greek yogurt for $2.50
Met the owner on the snowmobile trail and went to go see what it was all about. Their roast beef is fabulous!!! Can't wait to try more of their other things.
Excellent sandwich, clean, fast and friendly service. Lots of offerings. Prices comparable for its location. It adds up quick, but I'm also an impulse buyer. Sandwich chips soda and cookie $24 with tip. Cookie and roast beef were amazing
Really great delicatessen. Best homemade pastrami sandwich in the area. Several house made meats to choose from, impressive salad bar, bread made on premise, homemade desserts, and my favorite half- sour pickles. Parking is surprisingly easy on the street, though you do have to pay to park. But worth the $1 or less price, especially if you do take out.
I love this place. A buddy works close and we almost always go here when we are able to have lunch together. I've only had 1 sandwich here that I didn't like, but I'd imagine that's more personal preference than quality. They also have a "every 15 get 1 free" punch card, which isn't some crazy stellar deal but a lot of places don't even do this anymore.
Pastrami was lean and flavorful. Get it grilled. Super good!
I love Maurice's!! Great hot sandwiches, salad bar, friendly service and more!! Remember..Cash is King!!
Everything about this place is wonderful. It is great to see your food made right in front of you. They also have a sense of humor. and everyone was a people person. I had a corned beef Ruben and pasta salad. My wife had chicken salad and chips. We ate everything and left very full. Reasonable in price. Best pasta salad I have ever had. I highly recommend this place. Plenty of seating.
I've been a customer for several years now and gotten to know the staff and the owner (and his family) - all good people. I especially like this place because it's locally owned, they do their best to get their supplies locally, the atmosphere is casual and friendly, the employees are courteous and welcoming, and as busy as the owners always seem to be, they make try to make time to have a conversation with customers. I also like the fact that the staff doesn't seem to change that often so good staff retention. It's obvious to anyone with any concept of small business, that this is a big deal likely a result of the owner taking very good care of his people. It's the people who make the place, and they have made this place feel like home. Thanks guys.
The food was fresh and very yummy. The staff was super friendly. The place was packed due to an event at the MVP arena and they were still so friendly and kind. Pickles were sooo good. Roast beef was fresh and cooked perfectly. Prices were great.
Snuck out of the State Wrestling tourney yesterday for a little break. Best Reuben I’ve ever had. And there is no close second. This is a must try!
I love Maurice’s! Friendly staff and fresh food!! They have daily specials and they are all phenomenal! My husband and I love the pastrami and roast beef sandwiches, if you’re in Albany, check it out!!!
Ended up stumbling across this place before the Eric Church concert. Their hours say that they are closed on weekends, but they must open on show days. The lack of options near MVP are embarassing.

Best kosher dills Upstate. Great sandwiches, cucumber salads, tuna mac and wide selection at the salad bar. Owner and workers are fast and friendly. I would rank them among the top two Capital Region sandwich shops.

Half a sandwich and cup of soup for $8. I recommend the roast beef on rye, or hard roll with horseradish and the au jus dip. They're homemade pickles are great too!

The food was very tasty, customer service was welcoming. For the single ladies, alot of construction workers eat there.
Best place to eat downtown.
Can't go wrong with a vegetable spinach wrap.
Great fast food!
A little small for the price, but their meet is sliced fresh right before they make your sandwich so it's kind of worth it. I'd go here again, and their coffee is pretty good too.
Good food although generally on the more expensive side for what it is. I’d be more inclined to go more often if the price was just a bit lower, however for a treat every now and again this is a great option in the area.
I've given four stars instead of five because I remember when they used to serve the roast beef on the sandwiches while it was still hot/warm. It's still delicious and quality meat, but it was cold this time when they sliced it. Really miss that warm roast beef!
Great lunch or breakfast spot with ample seating. Their roast beef sandwich is great!
Not sure if paid comments. Went in today and paid 16.00 for a sandwich and a soda. Must have been imported from Greenland.... Not worth the money since it was a standard sandwich nothing special.
Price on website is not reflective of in store price. Charged me like $8 more than what their online menu says!
Chicken salad sandwich bearly any on the sandwich not worth the money
Very bland sandwich. Bread was sub par. Chicken salad had no flavor. Pickles were fresh and tasty.
Don’t believe the hype. The pastrami was horrible, dry and a waste of money.
I really wish the tall thin guy with the glasses worked there because he was awesome. The guy with the beard is incredibly rude. Why say you serve scrambled eggs and then refuse to do so? It sucks because although they are pricey, their food is really really good.

Went in to use the restroom and saw the $5 minimum purchase for credit cards to be a customer in order to use restroom so of course we bought $5 worth of items. Later on checked my credit card to find I was overcharged by $10 as my total was $15 instead of $5. Awful service, who scams their customers out of money as they please?
We stopped here for lunch while we were on our way to Vermont. What a mistake. Ate from a salad bar and got sick about three hours after leaving. My wife couldn't finish her sandwich as it wasn't anything you would expect from a Jewish deli. They were out of Rye bread. Are you kidding? The place isn't clean either which added fuel to the fire. We ate here on 05/16. Also not easy to ascertain your policy on where to place the order and where to get the utensils. Very unorganized and staff doesn't seem to care.
