Daytrip out to Weimar & Schulenberg. Decided to go here for lunch. Got the Friday lunch buffet. Was very good and fresh. Service was good also. Both myself and wife were very pleased and look forward to going again in the future. On my first plate I had the fried chicken and was very good. Had to try the fish on second plate and had another round of the ribs and sausage. They had loaded potatoes today and very good. We had a great experience today. Thank You!

Was driving from Houston to San Antonio and stopped by for the first time. Was greeted by friendly staff and had the best bbq buffet. Reasonably priced and the family loved every bite. Everything tasted homemade.

Located right off I10, easy on and off!! We came from Sealy and happy we did! Breakfast buffet is on point, eggs, sausage patty, bacon, grits, oatmeal, sausage links that are really good, biscuits that are buttery tasting and fluffy, ham, French toast and toasted bread, potatoes and hashbrowns! All was delicious and hot! Coffee was good and not so bold, thats how i like it! Our waitress, Leticia, was nice and smiling! James is a fun person, enjoyed his conversation with customers! He is a gem of this place! I definitely recommend and we will be back to try the lunch buffet. Plenty parking and pretty large section restaurant! Also a lil country store in front! Great local restaurant with homestyle cooking at a very reasonable price! This is a nice family friendly restaurant with great menu options and a buffet option with lots of tasty selections. We stopped here on their way back to Houston from San Antonio and the reviews online helped us make our decision. We were not disappointed. Our server and the rest of the staff were all very kind people. The food tasted great and our kids also had a great time eating. We recommend for families and adults.

Best damn pork chops you will ever eat.

Buffet goes, over and beyond I went in the afternoon and everything the peach cobbler the sides the corn bread the veggies the chicken and pork chops on point, they are constantly adding more. Reminds me of a retro Cracker Barrel & Bukees had a baby if your traveling through, pay them a visit extremely laid back attire but don't mind that the food and people are top notch.

Aid here twice for breakfast Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12. Their breakfast buffet is outstanding and I ordered their country fried steak on Sunday and it was really good. Service is good wholesome food and it’s worth the money and it’s not even really that expensive and you’re not leaving Hungary.

The chicken fried chicken was excellent! I didn't even use any of the gravy because it was so good even without it. The fried okra and mash potatoes were very good as well. Everyone else work me enjoyed their food as well. Not a fancy restaurant but they're very friendly and good service.

Fabulous late lunch. EVERYONE in the family enjoyed it. Two of us had the buffet, one had the pork steak and I had the sausage plate which was a deal- came with kraut and 2 sides. I recommend the fried squash and the Wendish chicken soup (on the buffet)

My God, it's been awhile since I have eaten here. My family from San Antonio surprised me by attending the Church I am a member of. I am so pleased and grateful that they chose to come and fellowship with us at Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church! All the food was awesome, fresh and of great quality! Today was a very spirit filled day, I am so glad about it! We had a marvelous waitress who is really on top of it, sorry I didn't get her name; it was really busy. Our first buffet since 2019.... it was perfect...good salad...the cucumber salad was the best I have ever had. Ribs, fried chicken,brisket and all the sides. Great little country buffet serving home style southern cooking. We enjoyed it. Some in our group ordered off the menu: the chicken tenders (huge), onion rings (delicious), and sweet potato fries were all very fresh and tasty. One complaint: Wish they included iced tea with the buffet, it’s cheap enough and for the price of the buffet at $17 per adult that should be included. buffet is $8 per child; the price we paid at lunch on a Saturday in August 2024.

We found this place on our way to our granddaughters softball game. What a gem of a place! Home cooked food buffet style, all-you-can-eat, at a reasonable price! We will definitely be stopping here again.

We stopped here for to go brisket on a road trip going to and from our destination. We get brisket, onions and pickles to go. All of our food was really good and it seems like they don’t even have artificial food dye in the pickles, which I love. They also have Topo Chico and a bottled sparkling lemonade that did not have artificial food dye and it wasn’t overly sweet. That was a very nice find too. They have 2 dining rooms and one has such a beautiful ceiling with two amazing chandeliers. I am including some pictures of the ceiling. There is a Buffett and I heard a lady say the food was excellent. They also sell jarred preserves and jellies. I will be back should I be on a road trip passing by again.

Walked over from the Truckstop to have Breakfast, Didn't want to eat too much,so made my own secret menu item,from the a la cart items, ordered 1 pancake,order of eggs,and side of Bacon,came out to 9bucks and some change including tax.not bad. We eat here every time we go to Schulenberg. The buffet is excellent, packed with chiclen, ribs, mac n cheese, tuna, greens, cornbread, dessert, etc. Every item on the menu is awesome. To add to that is a country store with candies, cold boxes of treats and drinks, pies and jerky just to name a few items. There are several large dining areas and plenty of parking. It's a real trip to the past and wonderful. I highly recommend this place!!

We tasted this bbq at the Houston rodeo! They were so kind! And even gave my students water! So sweet! The bbq is delicious and we’ll definitely be visiting this place more often! The sausage was juicy and the turkey leg was amazing!

This restaurant off the side of I10 is super convenient to access and a good point on any journey south to north or east to west to stop and stretch. They offer a gift shop with local offerings from the area and an overall country laid back hora. The food. Amazing!! The quality was just excellent. Especially considering we chose the buffet. Fried chicken!! Excellent. The value $15 for a buffet and salad bar is just not heard of anymore. That combined with the quality and freshness make this an excellent experience. The staff was super friendly and made sure our drinks were never empty. A huge bonus our 5 year old ate free!! (Doesn’t eat much but it’s a tough spot paying for an extra buffet). Super family friendly and just overall impressive place that will be on our destination list from here forward

Let me tell you this place is the best kept secret. While traveling over the road as a truck driver we did a 34 hour reset at the pilot and discovered this place and yes food is amazing and having to spend thanksgiving over the road sucks but the food served to include but not limited to turkey dressing sweet potatoes the best green beans I’ve tasted in a long time made me feel right at home. I’d visit here whenever in Schulenberg TX every time. Oh and the hospitality was the best. Driving back to San Antonio, I decided to stop for a late lunch out at Oakridge Smokehouses Restaurant. I was very impressed with the all you can eat buffet offering. There was a limited number of food items, but it was very high quality which is something I always look for. Mostly chicken, sausage, beef tips, rice, potatoes, salad, soup, and desserts. Have to say that I really enjoyed my meal. The service was great along the staff who were super friendly and welcoming. Yes, I will be returning. Highly recommended!!!

I absolutely love this mom and pop shop. It’s a German, Check, southern Texas style restaurant and buffet. Almost everything on the menu is hand made to perfected taste. The SOUR KROUT is the best taste in the nation. The pulled pork has an amazing flavor and texture. Come here, I HIGHLY a recommend this smokehouse. They also have amazing souvenirs and hand made treats.

The host was super nice and immediately seated us. The building was very rustic inside and out. Our waitress was okay but not easy to get drink refills. Decent buffet for an okay price. My family and I have been stopping here for years on our way to San Antonio from Houston. In all of the years, nothing has changed, even throughout the pandemic! Jill and I had the chance to drop by for lunch again in July 2023, which would be our 8th or so time coming to this place. The restaurant is located in the back of an "olde timey" place with freshly made pastries, locally made beef jerky, lots of jams, and German-Texas tchotchkes of various sorts. The food is quite good, and their BBQ sauce is properly sweet, peppery and vinegary all at the same time. The bread pudding is a MUST, along with the Texas chocolate sheet cake. Good BBQ, good desserts, and family friendly--and did I mention drinkable $5 wine served in a plastic water cup? This place puts a smile on everyone's face, and the open buffet is reasonably priced, especially if there are adolescent boys in tow.

Some of the food was really good, some not so much. The German sausage and sauerkraut was the best! The folks we mostly friendly and efficient. Would eat there again if I end up back in Schulenburg.

My first time visiting this restaurant. After many times passing by on the highway, I decided to pull off and check it out. While I didnt eat a meal here I did walk around and take a look at everything they had to offer. The lunch buffet looked pretty decent, with lots of vegetable choices and several home style entrees on it. A few desert items, and salad were also on one of the carts. The store had a wide selection of its, from Texas made products, wine, jerky, noodles and jarred sauces, to fresh baked sweets. Overall this would be a great stop for any traveler, native Texan or not. This might become a pit stop for me, as the selection of items available here give me new things to try for the foreseeable future. Even the soda fridge at the front of the store was packed with all sorts of craft sodas that I'd never seen before. Will definitely be returning, possibly to try the buffet, but definitely to browse the items again.

I love this place. The chicken fried chicken was seasoned and delicious. The mashed potatoes were so light and flavorful, and the fried okra was crunchy and delicious. Never had a bad meal here.

The buffet does not look tempting, so I ordered this brisket dish by showing waitress a photo from google review. She told me it is a hidden menu item but I can order it. The sweet potato is good, but the sausages and briskets are so-so, the brisket is too lean and has no smoke flavor. Service is good though, and I like their deco.

We’ve been a few times and have figured out the best times to go for great food were the peak rush hours; any other time will surely disappoint. That fresh fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, roll, and sausage with sauerkraut! Or turkey and dressing with cranberry sauce, yams and cornbread 🤤🤤 Service, on the other hand, always seems to be a miss; morning, noon or night. Our favorite is the Sunday lunch buffet. It’s like stepping back in time to the good ole days, eating Sunday lunch at grandma’s house. It just reaches that special place in your memories and takes you back. 😪

Headed to Galveston from New Braunfels for our cruise, got hungry and stopped here for lunch. It's a staple in this area (been around since 1969!). I've been here before in the past, but my travel companions have not. They did have an epic looking lunch buffet, but we stuck with single entrees. Chicken Fried Chicken meal 8/10 - I would give this a 8/10 stars. Crust was very good with the chicken flavored great as well. Nice and crusty on the outside, yet still tender and moist on the inside. Mashed potatoes I would give 9/10, as they were homemade and tasted excellent! The fried okra I would say was a 6/10, as they seemed like typical frozen okra. They were good, but nothing to wow you. Club Sandwich 7/10 - the usual Club Sandwich, but all of the ingredients were fresh and portioned nice. Cheeseburger 7/10 - nice juicy burger and crispy fries. Typical cheeseburger plate, but everything was tasty. The service 8/10 - our server was attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere 7/10 - overall was nice. Seemed a little run down in some areas and renovated in others. It's a quirky atmosphere. First thing that got me was the sulfur water, came here looking for good Texas BBQ and got the brisket and I have had better brisket in New York. No one seems to be bothered that flies eat off the buffet line. I had a fly in my tea also, could have flown into the pitcher where it was made.

I visited this place around 5pm, i order the brisket with sausage plate, to be fair i did not specify i wanted lean cut, but I don’t mind a couple pieces of loose cut either, my plate had nothing but tough tasteless, cold, loose cut slices. The sausage was extremely dry, i was really disappointed as i was really looking forward for a great meal. All the other options on the menu looked great, but didn’t get the chance to try them. The service was excellent, very attentive and kind. Wouldn’t recommend them for their brisket, but i would definitely give them another try on another item in their menu.

We stopped here driving through from Houston. Friendly service. Terrible food. My husband’s Brisket sandwich was about 80% fat. Chicken tenders were the worst I’ve ever had. The buffet was not appealing at all. I would never try this place again.

The brisket lacked flavor and was very dry. The BBQ chicken was acceptable, though not memorable. Unfortunately, even the water tasted unpleasant. Overall, it was a disappointing lunch after two days of traveling.

We stopped by during our Painted Churches tour, the Chamber of Commerce has a deal with them. I got the buffet and it was nothing special. Several in our group ordered from the menu and the orders were so messed up, one person ordered the cheeseburger and it came out with everything but the meat patty! Two others ordered burgers and specified PLAIN with nothing else but they came out with all the toppings. We also got 2 orders of onion rings that no one said they ordered, admittedly the onion rings were probably the best thing we had!

DO NOT COME HERE FOR BBQ! Driving across the states and saw the billboard and decided to stop for some real Texas BBQ, worst decision made was to stay after realizing it’s not really a BBQ place and its buffet has nothing to do with BBQ. We ordered off the menu and all three meat items were gross, inedible even I spit mine out after forcing some down and wish I spit it all out, because my stomach has been upset since. I paid extra for the baked potato with all the trimmings and the potato tasted gross even with all the trimmings(fake bacon bits?is this Hardy’s?) I ended up enjoying the pre frozen corn side(supposedly corn on the cob) and threw my food out on the way out. We wasted 50+$ on lunch and found the worst bbq I’ve ever tasted, pretty disappointed because I’ve always been told the best bbq is in Texas what a joke. The second star is only for the staff who were friendly and the place is a nice pit stop and I assume the buffet is good because plenty of people were there for that and it was kinda busy. Oakridge either up your game or just take off the false advertising of having good bbq and just make it about the buffet(what kinda bbq buffet does not have any good bbq In it)?!

My husband and I drove from Houston to try their buffet. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating, with a rustic look, but it was empty. The ribs looked to have been sitting awhile, the rest of the food did not look appealing. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with fries, the sandwich was very skimpy, the fries were pretty good and hot. If the buffet looked more appetizing maybe they would have more customers. Also the restrooms were dirty and smelled bad. We will not return.

Stopped in for lunch and thought this plac3 would be good. Wrong buffet was nasty extremely cold and old nasty ribs. And the sausage was so hard you couldn't even cut it or chew it. Did not even have taste at all. And the waitress did not even come back to refill drink. I had to stop another lady to get a drink to go. Avoid

We ate at there restaurant and when we got there the food at the buffet was really cold u didn't get a choice to pick want u want because there no options the bacon wasn't cooked and food on napkins that wasn't even good our Waiter. Was nice and fast I think she deserves more respect by the staff they didn't even open the door for her when she was coming in and out and for 15$ per person it's not worth it

Ive been coming here for a very long time and its literally been a decade since ive been there. Well its totally different a lot of the breakfast buffet was cold, biscuits were hard as a rock. Cook or dishwasher just kept staring at me while I was at the buffet and even stood in my way. So disrespectful! My gf didnt want to eat so they sat us in front where we wouldn't share food i guess even putting a pink post it on the table. I didnt see anyone else get this. Then they tried to charge for 2 buffets smh. The waitress so rude and unpleasant! Never again!!!

On my way to La grange and stopped here. Bought a sliced brisket sandwich very bland cold and dry hardly any bbq sauce. Pretty awful! Ask lady for some bark/rub on the side and didn’t get it. I don’t recommend this place.

Nothing worse than walking all the way to a place that closes at 8 pm, getting all the way there and finding it closed. I just walked all the way back to the truck stop and it’s 7:50 pm. Sure, it’s Sunday. Sure, the kitchen closed at 7 pm. Sure, there are still people in the place going through the motions of closing it up. I was hoping to get a buffet to go. Nope! No Chance! NADA for me! Imagine where this country would be if all the truck drivers in the country just quit when they felt like it on ANY day of the week! That’s okay. Somehow, somewhere, I will find someone, someplace that wants to take my money. When times get hard and the going gets tough, it’s places like this that will complain the loudest about not being able to make a living and keep the doors open. Meanwhile, I will take this as a blessing in disguise and they probably did me a favor by not keeping the doors open for twenty more minutes. Enjoy your early evening off!

It was early morning. I don’t know why they would only be one waitress (Leticia) The service was OK, but I could never get a refill. I felt like I was being rushed every time she came to the table, and it was only for our drink orders and for our ticket to pay. I did ask if the menu had some items that she would recommend and she said the buffet I felt like I was holding her up from getting to another table. I do remember the girl with the red hair was very friendly and very helpful. She helped me get silverware since our waitress, forgot to bring it to the table as well as our drink refills with a smile on her face very friendly. I felt like the waitress needed help. I don’t think that there should be one waitress to a whole restaurant that’s ridiculous. I did Appreciate the customer service from the hostess as well as the pregnant cashier they were both very friendly. The food was good, but I never even got the pancakes I ask for.

Truck driver eating alone and that sat at a table for 8 even there were smaller tables available. Waited awhile for server to come by and drink order. I also got the buffet. My first trip to the buffet I got a salad and it was ok. Not a lot of option for toppings or dressings. I then went back to my 2nd plate of main dishes I came back and my drink old plate and silverware were all taken and the table cleaned. I then hunted down an employee to ask for my drink and silverware back and they brought a new drink and gave me plastic fork. I told them I wanted real silverware as to cut and eat my pork chop with and the girl just walked away. So again I went and found a different employee and asked for real silverware and they brought just a fork. All this time I never saw my server. I finally went and asked for a manager and told her I was just going to eat somewhere else because I was tired chasing down employees just so I could eat I then walked out. Would not recommend going if your trucker eating alone.

Buffet did not have beef, just dried pork chops. So, ordered off menu. Overcooked smoked Chicken and Turkey.(dry) Twenty minutes later replaced buffet with Brisket and ribs. Too later for us. Slow service, dead roaches in restroom, over charging mistakes on bill and water taste like old pipes. Pictures online looked great, but…. Sauerkraut and sausage great!
