I was invited to a bridal tea party at Mckenna's this past weekend. What a delightful place to have tea and finger foods! The atmosphere was peaceful and the food was absolutely amazing. Probably the best peach mango tea I've ever had. I got hot tea on a warm day but it didn't stop me from enjoying the yummy scones with my own pot of tea. They offer a variety of tea, coffee and herbal tea. Our group went with The Royal. It's a 3 course meal of salad, soup followed by the most beautiful 3 tier arrangement of scones and an assortment of delicious desserts. I ate a lot but didn't feel heavy. We sat outdoors with a table but you can also request a sofa. Karen checked us all in and she was most helpful going over the menu. They can accommodate large parties as well as intimate party for 2. Mckenna's tea cottage is very quaint and serene. The antiques decorate the indoors as you walk in when opens up to another room and then the outdoor patio. I highly recommend coming here for a bridal party or female birthday party. You'll enjoy the views all around.
Have to say as a Brit who stays in the area a lot, I discovered this cute place whilst craving a relaxed cup of tea and was totally impressed 👍 tea and scones tasted exactly like being back home:) The clotted cream came really close ! A great warm inclusive place for anyone to enjoy which is what I love about it too 😍
This is our go to tea place. My daughters and I go at least once every year. The selection of teas is extensive, with seasonal additions. The service is attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed. Dining out on the patio is so pleasant. We have tried most of the food items; we love the quiches, soup, and scones the most! Good selection of tea sandwiches and mini desserts, if you choose.
It was wonderful. So sweet and quaint. The tea and food was, in a word, superb. The Service was great.
I loved my time here. We got there 30 minutes early before our reservation and they sat us down immediately. The atmosphere is comforting and sweet and reminds me of home. The food was delicious and I left stuffed. I should have taken more broccoli cheddar soup and scones home with me! Service was wonderful and staff was very nice. I recommend getting there early just in case since parking can be hit or miss since it's a busy area. We will be coming back!
Super cute spot for high tea. Ignore all the reviews complaining about the amount of food because literally, it's a high tea. Two bite sandwiches are what is served with tea people. I walked out full... Anyway, the soup was delicious, the scones with jam and clotted cream were just as good. Service was great and everyone was really nice. A must go and I will be back.

Five of us ladies go multiple times a year (any reason to celebrate). Staff is always friendly and accommodating; food is delicious and a large variety of both entrees and teas. Their press pot coffee is gourmet quality! Love this place!!!
Mckenna's Tea Cottage is an idyllic location for tea. I love the exterior, it's almost like walking into a life-size doll house. The inside is just as lovely. The hosts make the entire experience cozy and inviting. I loved the teas my sister and I chose. The pastries and finger sandwiches were delightful! I'll be going again to celebrate Galentine's Day with friends, and look forward to trying the mimosas. I'm telling you, Mckenna is a definite must try! ❤️ 😃
Very cute. They had the most adorable cups and plates, and the food was very good. I really liked the sandwiches and cinnamon scones, and loved the black teas.
Me and my other friends came to the beach to walk around and enjoy the sights. While walking we stumbled apon a small tea shop that happened to be this! The workers were absolutely amazing, kind, and polite! I got the three dessert and my friend got pink lemonade and tea sandwiches and after we left we both agreed it was the best think we’ve put in our mouths! The shop is absolutely fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who loves tea as well a a nice peaceful atmosphere
Such a charming tea house that has been a part of seal Beach for a long time. It quite literally felt like we were inside some grandma’s little home. It was such a time stamp of decades ago and the tea sets everywhere were absolutely adorable. Someway somehow all of the mixed match just made sense altogether. We thoroughly enjoyed our vanilla almond and lavender rose tea. My toddler enjoyed the berry blast tea. For someone who is so sensitive to heartburn the tomato basil soup was delicious and I felt no pain and no regrets from this consumption Can’t wait to come back on a sunny day. We went there on a day. It was pouring outside and it was still such a beautiful place.
Went to Mckennas Tea Cottage and had an absolutely great time ! I got my deal from groupon which automatically is the Lady Hamilton, but they allow you to upgrade if you want. Our deal came with a pot of tea per person, finger sandwiches, one scone each paired with apple and strawberry jam and clotted cream. I just have to say that I had an amazing time!! The food was honestly great and so was the service. The woman who greeted us was very kind, and she made me feel extremely welcomed. They were even willing to allow me to choose a different pot of tea when I didn’t like the one I previously chose. The lady hamilton may seem like it won’t be filling but trust me it was ! All it all i had a great time and would definitely go again !!

Great and unique experience for a tea house. Each table gets a beautiful tea serving ceramic set. The menu is tricky as you can order set/tower or build your own one. The only downside is that if you go with the Royal or other top selection (sandwich, fruit, dessert, scones, etc.), they ask you not to share and have at least $10 order per person. The atmosphere is great and the food/dessert are super nice and unique. Great for a morning/brunch date ☺️
Update! June 20, 2020. Open for DINE-IN. Call ahead for reservations! New photos added. It was a nice afternoon tea with my friend. The establishment has been around for a while. The locals love having tea parties here. There was a party for a little girl with her friends to celebrate her birthday. It was really cute. I really love the decor and displays of tea sets, my weakness. Lol. Anyways, I would definitely return to enjoy another set of tea. If you like this review, please let me know. Thank you and have a great day!

👍 - blueberry tea was the special for the day and the aromas alone were enough to make it the top 10 teas I've ever had, but the flavor was also divine. A delightful menu of thoughtful eats to enjoy outside, people watching, in the gorgeous climate. Great service as well! 👎 - the finger sandwiches were in the top 10 worst sandwiches I've ever come across 😅 but they were well prepared! 7/10
This is a lovely tea spot! Very affordable and a great outdoor spot for a nice time with friends. The top two tiers on the menu are plentiful for food, especially for the price. I do think the $3.50 fee to pick sandwich types in different quantities is silly, you get 5 either way. Great selections of teas and they even have cocktails.
First, great service! And it is a really cute place. However, the tea services are pricey without a Groupon. For $15, we were able to do 2 $20-something services, which for one pot of tea, five finger sandwiches, and one scone each is a bit... However, it is an experience, and something to do if you want to take it slow and relax. But, each person does get a POT of tea, which is about 6 cups. (I would recommend bringing a metal water bottle to take your excess tea home with, and enjoy it chilled :D.) Their "general store" area sells the teas for a very good value ($6.00/ounce), and one ounce fills like an entire bag, and you only need a teaspoon of it to make like 6 cups of tea.
McKenna’s Tea Cottage is a cute little place that serves yummy scones, more teas than you can imagine and finger sandwiches that are pretty good. The service is great and Karen is such a sweetie. My problem was that the plates decorating the wall have not been dusted in ages, and there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. This makes me wonder how clean their kitchen is. I’ll probably try McKenna’s again when the weather is warmer so I can sit on their patio.

I planned a baby shower for 15-20 guests for February, site charged a $215 deposit to book the tables and for “tablecloths”. I requested pink tablecloths, tables were not dressed any differently than other tables. Staff was very helpful on the phone beforehand, but day of event some of the staff was borderline rude. Party was scheduled 11am-1:30 pm, staff opened up after 11 am and had guests enter through a “storage area”. I told staff beforehand that my daughter wanted a cake, which we brought. I was told to “move the cake”, but staff was reluctant to store cake while tea was served. I had to ask for serving plates and utensils. Tea, scones and sandwiches were great , but “desserts” (cookies) and salad were fair. At the end of event, I was told $215 was not a deposit, but actually a fee for use of the room. So total event was over $1200 for 19 people, including their 20% tip. I would have tipped much less based on my guests’ comments about Maya. The 2nd server-busboy was very accommodating. This could be a great venue, but it needs some TLC in the dining and entry area. Maya needs an attitude adjustment if she’s going to continue as a server. If you schedule a party to start at 11 am, you should be ready for guests at least 10 minutes or so before the scheduled event; or don’t start events until 11:30…

They were very responsive over email and helped me make my reservation. They also accommodated my dietary restrictions - no meat and eggs. Super nice waiter! The food, however, is sub par. I got two types of sandwiches- cucumber mint and berries and cream (pics attached) with were one fourth of a piece of bread with one slice of cucumber and strawberry, respectively . It would be nice if they were a little larger with more filling and covered with another piece of bread. The clotted cream tasted flat and foamy and is definitely not of the right consistency or taste. We also got soup which was better. Being an avid tea drinker - I expect a pure Assam to be much robust than what they had.
Found this place on Groupon. Made reservations, as it was suggested, and showed up on time. The ambiance is great. Love the layout. We had a pot of tea each. I had the strawberry 🍓 fruit tea. Pretty good. Although after drinking so much, the tea has a slight metallic taste. Had the salad and if they had used anything but store bought dressing, it would have made a huge, positive, difference. The finger sandwiches where basic. I mean that there was more bread than substance. And the taste was...meh. Nothing stood out. The scones were biscuits. (Lost a Star here). The dessert was Decent. (Added a star). My opinion: If you choose to come here, before you arrive, go out and have a decent lunch/breakfast first. Skip everything and go straight for the desserts. That’s probably the best idea since they hurry you through your meal.

Invited a friend for her birthday. Queen Mum's tea for her $45.00 and Lady Hamilton for myself $35.00. Very disappointed, only 1 small tray with tiny sandwiches & scones, a microscopic cupcake for her birthday. Did not expect a full meal of course but at least enough hand sandwiches and scones for 2. I was embarrassed for inviting her there. Services very slow.

Came in for my best friend's birthday with a party of 11. Booking was easy and the environment is beautiful. We sat down at 1:30p, weren't asked about our orders until 2:06p after my best friend asked politely to the I assume manager if we could be served. The manager seemed overwhelmed and was short and made a comment with a slight attitude which was off-putting. We were finally served milk and tea at 2:30pm. While we wait, we are surrounded by empty tables full of trash, so I assume the focus is making food for our table. We received our soups and salad at 3pm. The other table finished at left at 3:20pm. We are still awaiting sandwiches and almost all of our tea is gone from our group, and all soup and salads are finished. Also, the kids have finished all of their kids meals. We all in the group at this point should have gotten the kids meals if it would have been faster. It is now 3:24pm and the tables around us are finally being cleared. We received our food at 3:30pm. The sandwiched varied from regular tiny sandwiches, to a half size. It was very inconsistent due to us all ordering the same things. Wasn't worth the wait or the money. Also, as my friend received her personal empress tower. There was a hair in it. It was white/blonde and all of us is sitting on that side of the table are brunette. It wasn't worth complaining about because it was already disappointing. We go to tea houses every 2 months as a large group, so we just won't come back. The other party next to us (5 people also booked at the same time) was served tea and had orders taking within 10-15 minutes of sitting down. They were served food at 2:28pm. And they left by 3pm. I would like to say the waiter was very nice and was the best part of our visit.
