Great small town bar with excellent service. Visited on a Saturday afternoon shortly after opening. The bar side has a really cool vibe with a bar booths and a standing bar. We had a group of 12 and we were all able to hang together with the layout. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. Good selection of draft beers, wine and mixed drinks. Lots of variety of oysters and clams. We had a few appetizers that were very tasty but portions are on the small side. Great spot, can’t wait to return

What a wonderful restaurant! The food at BJ's Market Street Tavern and Oyster Bar was absolutely perfect and delicious. We had not one complaint about anything. From the atmosphere to the service, from the employees to our meal everything was spot on. This restaurant was recommended to us by the manager at the Hilton Hotel that is approximately 6 walking blocks away. We are so pleased we listened to her suggestion. Our appetizers, our entrees and our dessert were all perfectly prepared. The portions are perfect and the prices reflect exactly what you are getting.

We throughly enjoyed our first visit! The historical ambiance was exciting, the severs were fun and the food was excellent. We had clams casino and reveled in it. The fish and steak were also done very well. We ate early and left as the restaurant was filling up. A nice menu selection.

I had such a wonderful experience Tuesday night at BJ's! We sat on the quaint patio and had amazing service by Haley and everybody else were very nice as well. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner! I just wish we lived closer! We live in Cleveland and we were going to Knoebels for the day! I highly recommend this place the atmosphere the great little town it's in the food and the service were all top notch!!

Really good food.. great time we had there.. music was awesome.. service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly helpful..Would definitely recommend having a few meals at this place. The wings were really tasty and the cornbread/cake was really good as well... well we went back for another meal.. a celebratory one.. service was great.. food was great.. did miss the strawberry shortcake that I had before but the snicker pie deal was pretty damn good also

Consistently one of the best places in PA. Fresh oysters are fantastic, and I just had a sea bass entree that was one of the 10 best meals of my life! Service is always top shelf also.

Great meal. Goods service. Perhaps a bit slow, but the food was great. (Original review from 2019) Updated review.... They renovated the main dining room and destroyed the charm and feel of the room. It is terrible now. The bar still had the same great charm and character. Service was still slow but adequate. Biggest two issues are the dining room has or had a terrible odor, and there are just so many flies. I could not cut my steak one handed while I kept trying to brush the flies away from our table. My advice is only eat in the bar or outside.

The food was amazing, but expect a high price when the bill comes due. My girlfriend and I ordered a variety of food. We ordered two crab cakes, 1 american freedom pizza, and a chicken sandwich. For drinks we had two alcoholic beverages, one Caribbean Punch and one Mojito. The bill all together was $40+ all together. Of course, we did have many left overs... but none the less the food was amazing. We are roughly in town every few months. We definatly will be back. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Great experience as always at BJ's ! .... We were seated in the remodeled dining room, which we really like the Booth configuration as apposed the former table seating. My Wife and I decided to keep it simple, both of us ordering the "Blue Cheese Burger" and starting with the ever popular "Bongo~Bongo Dip" our burgers were cooked to perfection and the dip, bubbling hot! .... Ending our meal with BJ's Pressed coffee and a slice of the richest cheesecake ever! Service was top notch! And our entire meal in a word ...DELICIOUS! We will certainly return!

We had an awesome time! We started it with the bongo bongo dip amd rhe creaminess of the dip on a garlic bread was very good. We both had the Chicago steak and split it, however even then it was still filling for us! For desert we had chocolate cheesecake, which made be rich but it was very satisfying.

Great food! Bj's dining experience was a good one! Our waitress was polite and helpful. Food arrived quickly after ordering and was tasty beyond expectations. Would recommend!

Alley, you did a great job serving us and my compliments to the chef who prepared the swordfish. Absolutely, delicious! This restaurant is one of our favorite places to dine!

This place was amazing. Christina was my waitress and told me the pasta and scallops are her favorite and I will agree with her on that, the scallops were huge and delicious. This is by far the best place I have eaten at in Selinsgrove and I WILL be back.

Outstanding service....seated and drinks quicky....we got on the appetizer steamed oysters and calamari....oysters fantastic.... steer clear of calamari ....New England clam chowder just full of meat...hit just the right note of broth....Raw bar we sample 3 of the ones on menu delicious with great presentation..we got all the condiments they ordered...oyster casino and oyster Rockefeller you could not get better at the shore ....dessert was great .....bill was more than fair.....

I never would have guessed I would find a raw bar in central Pennsylvania but what a find! Staff was friendly and put out a very relaxed and casual vibe. I was allowed to walk around with my mask on to check things out and decided to stay. Good choice! I only wanted an appetizer and picked four oysters and two shrimp cocktail from the raw bar. Ice cold and very fresh, well shucked and hardly any grit! Delicious! If I ever get a chance to go back I’ll be bringing an appetite! Extensive menu and I want to try the steak!

Awesome rotating selection of boutique oysters & amazing artisanal pizza! We stop every time on our trip between York & Eagles Mere, PA!

Our pulled pork nachos took way too long. Everything else was spectacular! The cornbread was delicious. FYI: The entry way and bathroom both are IN NO WAY handicap friendly.

I have been everywhere in US, coast to coast entertaining customers and working out on company expense account. To my surprise, had one of the best meals ever at BJ's. Rockefeller and 10 oz Chicago sirloin were perfect! Going back this Saturday with a group from Bucknell Réunion.

BJs has long been a favorite of mine. Travel and distance had kept.me away for over a year but finally I had the opportunity to revisit. We began with Raw Oysters that were sweet and succulent. Another appetizer was a special. It had plump shrimp bathed in a creamy lemon sauce with crisp garlic toasts. The bread was quickly eaten dipped in that delicious sauce. My husband asked if they had it available in gallon jugs. The dinner special of Baby Back Ribs were tender and filling. It came with fried and coleslaw and cornbread with honey butter. Oh yum. I had the Chicago Steak Salad. The steak eas dine perfectly as requested and had crisp fries and a delicious house dressing. Icouldn't eat it all and enjoyed the rest for lunch the next day. If you are ever in the Selingsgrove area make sure you stop at BJs Tavern and Oyster Bar. You will thank me.

We were part of a party of 19 and were seated upstairs. As could be expected, especially with the size of the party and the wait staff dealing with lots trips up/down a long staircase, patience was needed. But the our servers came through with flying colors. They were pleasant, very accommodating and busted their butts to give us A+ service! The food was top notch. The clams casino was the best I've ever had an so was the crab cake. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. We will definitely eat their on future visits to Susquehanna U.

Bongo bongo dip appetizer is a must have, and the filet mignon is particularly excellent every time.

This place is a classic! Fanciest version of contemporary Pennsylvania fair, but also modern interesting takes. Definitely the fanciest seafood I've had in this part of the world. Their appetizers are fantastic. They also cook their steaks to perfection. They will also include anchovies on their Caesar salads which I really enjoy. If you don't want to have a banquet, their bar is fantastic! They have a lot of great stuff on tap and they use name brand alcohol for all of their mixed drinks. I didn't see any cheap mixers behind the bar. The bar tender was knowlegable and friendly. She was also happy to modify anything you asked her for. Over all I Loved this place. Only thing that was a little questionable was the sort of outside cold bathroom. That's kind of a trademark of this part of the world though.

We've been going to BJs for two decades now (shock!) and the menu is consistently good with new options to keep it fresh. We sat in the bar with friends this time and the booths should really be affixed. The person behind us said their bench almost fell off the slightly raised platform, and our two benches (in the middle) got pushed together enough from both sides that I had to ask the tables on either side of us to help us to push them back out so we could actually fit.

We came here for dinner on a Monday in April. I had been here one other time a few years ago but don’t remember what I had. We sat at the bar. The bartender, Hannah I think, was friendly and personable. God love her there were a couple obnoxious men at the other end of the bar and she was pleasant to them and apologized to everyone else in the bar after they left. We had a couple drinks and shared the calamari and crab cakes. The calamari had some spicy peppers in it and I really liked it but if you aren’t in to spicy maybe see if they can hold the peppers. The crab cakes were good as well. We did each have a clams casino and that was not my favorite thing but I am used to smaller more well cooked clams with no casino. The atmosphere, despite the obnoxious couple of dudes, was easygoing and casual. Prices were good. Parking was in the street no meters. We had a good time and enjoyed the meals.

We haven't eaten here for many years. The Jalapeno Burger was delicious. The crab dip was pretty good, but I did not care for the Old Bay Crab Egg Rolls. The description sold us, but it didn't live up to its name. Lacking in old bay and crab meat and the egg roll itself overpowered the flavor or lack thereof. Service was very efficient and fast. Old Bay Crab Egg Rolls $13.95 Hand rolled, lump & claw Maryland blue crab, cheddar cheese, scallions, cabbage & zesty spices, sweet & sour.

We were in the area and wanted a quick bite to eat but had our dogs with us, so we decided to come here because they had some outdoor seating. As far as service the servers, they were pleasant and seemed accommodative, especially since we were the only people outside. As far as the food, it was tasty and portion sizes seemed plenty. As far as prices, they seemed on par with what this resturant was providing and what we were expecting. If we were in the area we would consider stopping here again.

Good food, great atmosphere fair prices. Cooked to order steak. Good desserts. On street parking can be a challenge! Would venture back here when in the area!

Excelent service, great atmosphere (wife and i ate outside).  We got our apatizer in 5-10 minutes.  Wife got a margarita and was pleasantly surprised that it had fresh fruit in it.  The salted bread was very good and sweet, the corbread was alright (although most cornbread was spoiled for me).  i had the chicago steak combo with boom boom chicken.  Steak was perfect, the chicken was a little dry but forgivable.  The fries were all fresh and the garlic mashed potatoes were a little high on the garlic for me (but wife loved them).  Wife says her crab cakes were grrat as well.

Food is good. This place is a bit more costly than other places. Had no issues

B

Drinks are always top shelf. Bloody Mary even had a pickled baby carrot with the garnishes. Of course my long islands are never disappointing. New cook so probably just should have ordered only oyster bar. It was delish! As always thier sweet cornbread is there.😋

Food was excellent as was the service. Only issue was my mother asked for a used oyster shell and they refused her. She was very upset and cried all the way back home. I told her I would take her to the ocean to get some shells.

They have problem in the kitchen. Constantly messing up every time we go there. They don't have the same problem in Denville restaurant. You order Caesar salad you got house salad, you order medium steak you got well done steak for example.

Really good atmosphere, and the location is great. Love the small-town vibe during the holidays. Slighty disappointed with the food, though. It was meh.

J

We had dinner there last night. We both ordered the beef Kebabs, the two small Kebabs and rice are not worth $18 maybe $8. Overall atmosphere location is good, but a little pricey for the quality /amount of food.

M
Marty Riddell

Worst meal I've had there. Overpriced for what I received. Ordered the scallops pasta ..five medium sized scallops, about the size of a quarterand were overcooked...the price was $27.95.. not worth it! Other food had sat too long and pasta was dried out... server had mentioned that one was ready and the other dish wasn't! Used to frequent often when I lived there, would spot in when in the area...not sure if I would go back. Hostess lacked enthusiasm when we arrived. Not a friendly atmosphere any longer! Server was very good. This place needs help!!!

1st time here for all of us...Dinner for 4. Ordered apps and entrees. Fried risotto balls. Rather bland, unseasoned . Crab dip was better than average. Had some flavor tho. I had the crabcakes. Just... eh, ok. My friend had steak and shrimp. Steak was good... waited til end of meal 30 mins later to get 5 shrimp out to him. He got a free appetizer next trip for his delayed shrimp. Bongo bongo chicken- unseasoned. She said it tasted bland as well. Fish and chips.... said it's "standard fish and chips, nothing special" but liked the fries. I wanted to see what the hype was about here- recommended by a friend... I was rather underwhelmed by the place overall. Lots of steak & seafood on the menu. I will be back again to give it another go though. Few more things on the menu Im interested in, and hopefully this was just an off night!

Happy to see they brought back the Bayou Shrimp! However, the roux was like water and what they called a 1/2 pound of shrimp consisted of 12 tiny shrimp. Flavor was great but you need to create a roux and give the customers 1/2 pound of shrimp as the menu indicates! Smoke house salad was excellent!

S
Sherri Vizzuett

Server did the best he could for obviously being understaffed. Restaurants....dont be gready! Stop overloading your restaurant without the help to support! Waited an hour hungry for mediocre food. Pork nachos with.....sorry, we're out of pico de gallo. Dried out pork cheese n bean. Just yuk. Now see what ya got??? A bad review. Stop!

S
Sarah Siverling

Made the drive in hopes of reliving the Danville BJ's Chicago steak & old fashion cocktail legacy.. ended up as disappointed as the lady in the painting on the wall here. The steak was just OK, the salad was mostly red cabbage & onion. The burger fell apart (old bun maybe) and the boom boom sauce didn't seem to have any flavor. Hopeful this was an isolated bad night in the kitchen and to have a different experience another time.

A
Alec Jace

The menu keeps getting worse every time I visit. If you find something on the menu you like, stick with it because it'll take some experimenting to find something else that works. Some soups, apps, and salads are decent. Avoid the entrees and sandwiches.

I had been here before in 2021 and had a great experience. For that reason, guy and I decided to book for 2/15 in honor of Valentine’s Day since we weren’t able to go out on that Friday. What a weird experience… First, we ordered drinks which took about 10-12 mins and when she did come back, she was empty handed. Told us a bottle of wine broke behind the bar and they were cleaning it up and I SPECIFICALLY asked if it was the bottle of what I had ordered. We BOTH heard her say a definite NO. Ok cool… She leaves again and I’m thinking she’s coming back with drinks. She does not. She comes back to tell me that my drink is going to take “a really long time” (huh?) and asks if I want something else. I tell her no, I’ll wait. She comes back again empty handed and says it WAS the bottle of what I had ordered that broke and that drink isn’t an option. I’m sorry but, you don’t have another bottle of Spumante to open on VALENTINES DAY?! She also offers ZERO apology for the inconvenience which really kind of irks me. Ok fine. I order the sparkling Moscato. She leaves, (finally) brings my guys beer and tells me they are also out of my second choice. I ask her if my third choice of bubbly is sweet and she says she doesn’t know and has to go ask. I kid you not, she took almost 10 mins to ask that question and come back. It turns out it’s dry so I decide I don’t want it. I am extremely agitated at this point and just want a darn drink so I order a glass of wine. That comes and again, ZERO APOLOGY for the wait or for the inconvenience. We order our food and an appetizer. Crab dip was good. Salmon was dry and mediocre and pretty sure my guys mashed potatoes were mixed with the instant kind. My appetizer plate was riddled with black scuffs as though it had been dragged across the kitchen floor a few times and the silverware was incredibly spotty. I had worked in the food service industry for many years and I know this can happen but when you’re charging what they are charging for food, that shouldn’t be the case. Presentation should be in line with prices. The meal was expensive and we were prepared for that but we were not prepared to pay $120 and receive this terrible service and eat mediocre food. My guys surf and turf was $60 which is absolutely fine but if you are an establishment that is going to charge THAT much for food- the service needs to match. Without question. It just does. Prices like that are audacious and pretentious if you can’t even get a decent drink, have a well stocked bar, decent service and moderate presentation. The communication about what has been 86’ed was NOT clear to the staff and the young woman serving us had little to no people skills or knowledge of the establishment she works for. She might be new and that’s fine BUT, again, if you are going to charge that much for mediocre food, the service needs to match. Perhaps a bit more training before letting them be on their own to serve tables, especially on the biggest date night of the year. I am very disappointed and will not be back. I hope the young woman who served us can get some better people and food service skills. The only reason we didn’t speak to a manager at the risk of being called a “Karen” is because at this point, we just wanted to leave. And we did. Disappointed and disgusted, but we left!

K
Katie VanWhy

Food is awful. Dry and tasteless food. Way over priced. We are not usually this picky but it was a complete turn off. Not even a manager came to check on us after our complaints. Our waitress was sweet and kind tho.

I don’t know who runs this place but they need to be retrained. My friend and I were sat directly next to a loud table that appeared to be having a private party. I ordered their special (ribs, fries and coleslaw). The ribs were garbage, dry and way over seasoned. Fries were soggy and again over seasoned. I sent the dish back but there was no apology or any attempt to make it right. I received the full bill, which would be cheaper in NYC, for a garbage meal and a lousy experience. BJ’s used to be a good place to eat but I wouldn’t serve my dog their food now.

N

There's visible mold formations on the dining room wall. Upstairs smells like a bonfire made of cigarettes. Open indoor smoking is overwhelmingly prevalent in the air. Oyster area is regularly crusty looking with puddles of stagnant water left on the floor underneath. Front of house staff frequently found drinking while on the clock during "late night" hours. Customers can expect to wait 40 minutes for burgers and fries on any given night.

S
Sharon Campbell

We were just there on Sunday for what we hoped would be a great experience with good food, etc. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Filthy rug in foyer, no food after waiting for 1 1/2 hours, no explanation from the manager as to why, only that multiple employees called off. On Father's Day?? Maybe they should have closed the restaurant if they weren't able to take care of their customers. This was the worst dining experience ever, and we walked out.

J
Jo P.

First the server was terrible, she brought our food & didn't give us silverware, we sat there and the food got cold & I had to get them myself, then I had to ask another server to get ours, also we were missing condiments & side dishes, when I questioned her she said she was busy with other tables, I said that's terrible customer service, what about us, also the food was not good , crab cakes horrible, chicken, yuk, bad experience and expensive.

C
Chris C

Live somewhat local and this was my first time here. Arrived for a 7pm reservation. Seated and ordered by 7:10. Didn’t get food until almost 8:30. Wasn’t offered any explanation or that sort of thing for the wait. Numerous tables around us were chatting and I could tell experiencing the same. As for the food… ordered the “award winning” Classic Burger and let’s just say I’d rather have ate McDonald’s. Dry, cold, and just downright awful. Girlfriend’s scallops were tiny and the pasta was cold. For almost $70 I could have went to Texas Roadhouse right up the road and got a much better dinner for half the price. Needless to say I’d give 0 stars if I could… we won’t be back.

New Years Eve 6pm reservations for 6 got seated upstairs and finally ordered at 6:30 and food never came till 8:15pm and steak was to be medium rare and was burned completely dry and baked potato was to have extra sour cream and had a smear instead and ran out of corn bread now lets get to the burned up crab cake that was inedible and the baked potato for that meal was mashed potato so guess what they ran out of baked potatoes and didn't tell us not that it matters mine was inedible and also ran out of deserts not that I would have ordered one and bought $50 gift certificates where you get free bongo dip and they changed it to $25 gift certificate get free bongo so I told the hostess at the door I want the rest of my certificates and said she couldn't do that!!!! Manager finally came to our table at 8:45pm and made everything right for us so shout out to the bar manager and our sweet waitress that was also upset at what her job presented her that night.I will be back but bongo and smokehouse salad is what is safe to order!!

C
Colin Mitchell

What a disappointment. Third floor dining room smelled like an ash tray. I’m not sensitive to this in any way shape or form, but it was repulsive and the driving force behind me posting a review. Aside from the stench, maybe play some music through the speakers so people aren’t sitting in silence smelling cigs. They food was edible. Not good, but I’m trying to not sound spiteful in this review. That being said, the wings are a far cry from what they used to be and don’t ask me how I want a burger cooked if you’re just going to give me a dry, well-done patty. The server was pleasant.

Took my wife out for a date night. Got to Bjs around 6:15 in the evening. The place was dead only like 3 tables. This was our first time there. The placed looked great. We were sat at a table and ordered drinks from the drink menu right away. The first 2 drinks my wife ordered the didn't have the liquors to make. We both ordered appetizers. She got the bongo bongo dip, and I got a dozen of hot wings. The bongo bongo dip was okay, but my wings on the other hand were not even close to being okay. It came out cold, they looked really old.And you can tell that they were not cooked fresh. I had asked the server if they precook their wings or if my wings had sat for a long period of time, and she told me that she thinks that the kitchen precooks their wings and then adds their sauce to them later per order. They were the worst wings I have ever gotten in a restaurant. I was extremely disappointed at eighteen dollars for a dozen of wings. And as long as it took them to bring the wings and the dip out, they could have made them fresh. For the main course, my wife ordered a medium burger. And I ordered scallop scampi. My wife's burger was not medium. It was extra well done like a hockey puck. My scallop scampi did not taste like any scampi I've ever had in my life. It was dry, sticky, no sauce. My noodles were brown, like they were tossed in the same pan that they seared the scallops in. And had absolutely no flavor other than oil. The thing that frustrates me the most about this experience was not once did a manager come to our table. Never seen a manager walk around or talking to the very few tables that were there. There was also a table that was two tables behind us that had a problem with their food and we heard the server tell them that they will take it off of their check. Our server was very attentive. I believe her name was Ashley. She did a great job always checking on us and making sure our drinks were full.
