Decent range of food and drinks. We ordered a sauvignon blanc and a dark and stormy together with a slow cooked belly pork and a pizza. Food and drinks came out quickly and was good quality. Friendly and efficient staff.

The food was delicious! The pizza wasn’t floppy or greasy at all, it was perfectly saucy and it was such a good afternoon munch. Brody was a wonderfully funny dude to talk to at the bar and his service was efficient and spot on! Courtney was the sweetest and most friendly waitress to get served by and made the place feel so much more welcoming. The restaurant was so clean and inviting, every seat looked comfortable and my partner and I had no issue feeling welcome. Fantastic place, would recommend. Absolutely 5 stars!

Lovely place for a special meal. Husband and I throughly enjoyed our lunch and drinks here. Nice chill atmosphere, gorgeous decor and food was outstanding. Delighted by the fish of the day, everything cooked to perfection and lovely friendly staff too. Will 100 percent have to come back next time in Sidmouth.

After last nights abysmal meal, we chose to try the Marine for our last night here. We'd drink there every other day and always received excellent service. So...we booked in for a meal. As is the way in Sidmouth, at 7.15 the bar was full, and the staff working efficiently. We ordered the prawn and crayfish cocktail for starters, I had the lemon sole for main, hubby had the trip of Brixham fish...gunard, John dory and sole....with new and sautéed potatoes, lemon hollandaise sauce and caper sauce. The retro prawn cocktail was excellent, fresh prawns and crayfish tails, crisps salad, great sauce and lovely warm granary bread. The mains. ..my lemon sole and seasonal veg was delicious, hubby's trio was delicious, with only the gunard slightly overcooked. For dessert we had the treacle tart and biscoffe cheesecake. Both too good...and too calorific. If you visit Sidmouth..come here ..sit outside during the day and enjoy the wonderful view, in the evening dine here. It's well worth it. Finally, I must mention Brody the manager. He and his colleague handle the whole bar and front of house between them with skill, professionalism, humour and a ready smile. Worth the journey here alone!

Had a lovely birthday meal here!! After rearranging the booking a couple of times they still sat us next to the Christmas tree as requested by my nan. Food was great, steak was cooked exactly how we asked. Service was brilliant as always Brodie looked after us well and knew all of my nans usual requests. Definitely recommend the marine!!

Genuinely the best chips I have had in ages. Fluffy inside, crisp and crunchy outside, perfectly cooked. I got the fish and chips and was so happy with how it was prepared. Our party also ordered the Brill fish ‘make your own’ plate with new potatoes and caper butter. Perfectly cooked and so delicious. It was quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime and the service was quick, friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend!

Brody and Oly were amazing, the work rate and friendliness was amazing. Give these guys a bonus. Food was excellent, one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, recommend the Trio of Brixham Fish plus the atmosphere was great…

Staff were excellent in their service . They were very friendly, knowledgeable and polite Food was fantastic. Fish starters and main course was venison. Both were cooked to perfection

Best mussels I have ever had!!!! Get them if they are on the menu - you won't regret it. Mussels are the size of your thumb! Soooo good. I would return to SW England just to go here again. Very friendly wait staff abd everything coming out of the kitchen looked great.

This is a lovely seafront pub / diner, Brody was a great help today he and the young lady serving were doing a great job looking after all the customers... Both these guys were doing a fantastic job and the place was looking great. The Marine is very popular with the guests, the staff here are friendly and very welcoming, the pub serves food with tables overlooking the sea and only a short walk from the shopping area. 😎

We had such a lovely meal here. The food was excellent- great specials and a great range of food. The service was brilliant; the waiter went the extra mile and added some candles to my husband’s pudding as it was his birthday. Thank you Kayleigh and Brody for your hard work and excellent service.

What a lovely pub, felt very welcome from the start. The two servers ( I'm so sorry I didn't catch your names) were lovely from the lady on the door to the man who was our main server who entertained us throughout. The food was delicious. Will definitely go back

Great steak and chips, cooked really well. Good choice of drinks, really friendly service and a nice ambience. Lovely spot too!

Great esplanade location with a wide selection of local beers on tap at reasonable prices. Plenty of wines and spirits also available. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of outside seating when weather permits. Free WiFi is available as is on street parking.

We had a lovely meal today at this restaurant. Excellent service from Brody and the burgers and chunky chips were nicely cooked and presented. Nice friendly atmosphere. We will be back!

Amazing place. We booked a table here on our honeymoon, and by request they very kindly put some beautiful flowers on the table for my wife. Food and service was excellent and the place had a lovely atmosphere, especially for a Monday night. A real gem of a place. We'll be back!

A great welcome when I arrived, makes you feel so much better. Usual tap beers and a couple of real ales and craft beers available. Craft beers on the expensive side at £7 per pint. Staff were warm and welcoming. Descent sized room with wooden floors throughout. Descently decorated with a few choice pictures on the walls. Dog friendly in the daytime, unsure about the evening. Small patio area at the front where you can enjoy a beer and the weather looking out to sea. Great beer, well worth a visit. Enjoyed my visit immensely.

What a lovely evening we had here, good buzzy atmosphere, food was excellent, very varied menu .. would recommend booking as it was busy even for a Sunday

We came with our kids early in the evening on a sunny Friday evening. The food was piping hot and tasted very good! I would recommend the fish and chips

The Sea Bass was wonderful and the staff and service very nice!

We step up this nice restaurant at the side of the beach, we were thinking of something different for the night but we decided to go ahead as a friend recommendation, the staff were really friendly and the food was superb, we had soup of the day for starters and then some bbq ribs and a seafood plater. Everything was delicious but the soup was something else. Definitely try again next time I'm at Sidmouth

We only stopped for a couple drinks but the hospitality was exceptional, just a couple of really pleasant chaps behind the bar. The building is beautifully presented, with a small but functional terrace overlooking the stunning coastline.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. The Marine is one of our favourite places to eat!

This place is lovely! Fantastic food- 3 of us shared the fish platter (£55) - it was absolutely delicious and great value. A gorgeous treacle tart for dessert. Great coffee and good range of drinks. Lovely friendly service - staff were really helpful with allergy requirements.

Friendly pub with locals and visitors. Cheerful barman (the big one with the beard) made us laugh. Lovely cider. Food looked good, but we couldn't stay. Plan to go back and try it.

We did not have a booking but were very warmly welcomed and a table was quickly found for us. My fish and chips was so crispy and fresh. Hubby had a steak done just as he had asked, and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. It was busy and buzzing inside. Our waitress was extremely helpful and kind. The real ales were well kept and yummy. This place was lovely.

I am a regular at Marine snd never seen it busier than today, the food was as good as ever as was the service, a safe restaurant to take visiting friends and family, it never disappoints.

Great place for a meal, a drink or sat outside with a coffee looking out to sea. Great views, friendly staff. Highly recommend

Had lunch here for our wedding anniversary. Both had braised beef, which was deliciously tender, with nicely cooked vegetables and roast potatoes. I had a nice and reasonably priced glass of Merlot with it. We had sticky toffee pudding/treacle tart for pudding. Also very tasty. Generous portions. Friendly staff, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive.

Great evening at the Marine. Well designed & atmospheric dining space making most of big sea views and natural light. Very attentive & knowledgeable service throughout the evening. Saffron & haddock chowder from the specials board was delicious. Likewise the main of Monkfish with sautéd potatos and lemon hollandaise. Decent cheesecake and treacle tart washed down with Pedro Ximenez. These guys really know their stuff. Come here it’s very very good!!!

Very enjoyable Saturday evening busy on arrival... friendly welcome very good menu choice. Service excellent throughout, food very good throughout good portion size

Managed to squeeze us in, even though we hadn't booked. The service was fantastic. The garlic ciabatta and the belly pork were both first class, but unfortunately there was barely any mushroom to be seen on the mushroom pizza.

The staff here are really friendly. It was a beautiful sunny day so just popped in for a beer before heading home. It's always a lovely atmosphere here, and if you're lucky enough to get a seat outside, you can watch the sea and the world go by.

Visited here on the off chance and had an okay time. Apparently it was under new ownership in the last couple of days so will forgive teething problems. Love the building and décor however for my main meal I had half a mouldy lemon on my plate, overcooked fish and a sore stomach afterwards. I did point these things out to the staff but wasn't offered any redress. The staff were very friendly though. Unless a few core changes are made in the kitchen I'm not sure how long this will last. I do hope it gets better as I think it has a lot of potential.

Booked a few days ahead for a birthday lunch, stated it was for a 60th birthday. Before arriving, asked if could do anything special to celebrate , I.e. a balloon or two or candle on a cake/dessert, the surly guy who answered responded 'No, that's not a service we provide". "We don't do that" I almost cancelled there and then, but had no alternatives, so went ahead with lunch anyway. Food was OK for price, waitress was fine, but no welcome on our table, no "Happy Birthday' acknowledgement from the staff, it was all very deflating, to be honest, would expect most eating places to acknowledge at least.

Shocking experience. We have been once before and it was nice. I therefore recommended it for my mum's 60th birthday meal. We put it was her birthday in the booking and rang up just to check whether they'd be able to do anything to mark it like put up a balloon or stick a candle in a desert etc and there was a rude man at the end of the phone who said 'no, we're not that kind of place'. Completely unapologetic and not understanding. On arrival the place this time around looked sad, there were no tables occupied outside and it was dead inside despite it being right in the middle of Sidmouth folk festival. There was an older lady stood at the bar getting through pints and staring angrily at us the whole time which was off-putting. The male member of staff has attitude and was unfriendly. The food was very mediocre - the pulled pork tasted old and it all tasted microwaved. Really disappointed in the whole experience - it's massively gone downhill since we were last there and I would say to avoid.
