Lovely pub with warm welcoming staff. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was delicious! What more could you want!
Myself and 7 friends visited to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful evening! The service was fab as an ever, the food was delicious and we love the warm and cosy atmosphere. We always come for our get together sans will book again soon
Lovely spacious and well designed/decorated dining pub. Great selection of beers and non alcoholic beers. Amazing barista coffees, very dog and child friendly. The lovely young lady working on Friday afternoon was kindness personified and a really good host. She makes a really good Latte!
The service was great. Parties were all seated with enough space between us so that it's not uncomfortable to talk. I had the house favourite duck, and my husband had the steak. The duck was lovely. However, the steak sirloin was chargrilled, which we weren't a huge fan of. Overall a lovely experience and we will definitely be coming back with our dog as its a dog friendly place 😊
We tried coming before on a Sunday afternoon without a reservstiom and it was packed so make sure you make a reservation for Sundays! We ended up coming on a Friday or Saturday night I believe. We ordered the fish and chips, and those were probably the biggest ones I had ever seen in my life. We were not able to finish all the food! Love the big open space in the back and how there is an outdoor play area for the kids.
Great campervan stopover! 👍😀 Fabulous pub and restaurant with all of it's quirky features! We would still visit this place even if we weren't travelling back to the Midlands from our Cornwall trip! We chose the Steak & Tangle Foot Ale Pie with mash, it was beautiful! It didn't look much on the plate but I was stuffed and I have a big appetite! 😋 Very polite and professional staff 👍 😊 This place has got FIVE STARS from Nigel and Claire! All the best, see you again! 😊
Wow. Amazing and the absolute best service ever! Booked and reserved online (the same day) for lunch. Extreamly easy process. We were instantly impressed by the beautiful building. So well laid out for accessibility. Interestingly, tastefully and warmly decorated, spotlessly clean and bright. We were intrigued. Our party of 6 (plus one dog), were cheerfully greeted by Steve. Clearly an asset and gem! It was obvious from the onset he is passionate about his job, the company, the history of the building, and most importantly.... offering the best service to his customers. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure learning about the building and it's history. Food was served quickly, efficiently and was delicious. Very reasonably priced. On leaving, our old dog was also given a special doggy icecream, which she devoured. Big thank you from us. Fantastic service and enjoyable experience. Well done to Steve and the team. Definitely recommend!!
Came by this place on the way down to the South West, so glad we stopped of for lunch. Despite being so large lots on inglenook spaces and staff were magnificent, let's just say our four legged companion got lots of fuss. Given it was a Tuesday lunch they were doing a good trade which is always a good sign. We enjoyed our steak ciabatta and halloumi wrap, very tasty for £12ish. Super gem of a place and will now make this our go to stop for the West Country, just a little detour of the M5.
This charming, characterful, family / dog friendly, country pub is highly recommended. If you've not tried the World's End out recently then you're seriously missing out. It's very spacious inside and out and the beer garden and patio area is fab with a little play area for the children. The food is nicely cooked and very tasty. There's excellent menu choices including a good range of vegan/vegetarian options which kept my daughter happy. The staff are very well trained, friendly and efficient. They cannot do enough to make your experience special. Happy staff = happy customers 😉. Today we enjoyed the gravalax and lamb kofta's .... 'seriously delicious'!. The menu apparently changes today so we'll be looking forward to revisiting soon to check that out!! Thinking of joining in with their Wednesday quiz night too. #WorldsEndseriouslybrilliant #WorldsEnd
Had a wonderful evening at World’s End, Taunton with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was absolutely lovely, especially the cozy night vibe during winter. Every table has a unique antique look, which makes the place feel special and full of character. The staff were very friendly and welcoming — a special mention to Hazel for the excellent service. Overall, a great place to relax, enjoy the ambiance, and spend quality time. Highly recommended! ✨🍽️
Love this place. Had a fabulous weekday lunch. A great menu, fabulous food, really friendly, efficient service and such a lovely atmosphere. There’s a cosy corner for everyone; dog lovers, young families, big parties AND it caters really well for disabled customers (Which included my husband and my mum on this occasion)This is a real gem ❤️.
Lovely decorated and nice outside space to sit on the sun, Friendly staff and great food, dog friendly 😊
It was so nice to take the whole family to such an inviting pub. Great food, nice location and a lovely atmosphere. Looking forward to taking other family members there soon.
Beautiful pub that's out of town, but easy to reach with a short drive - we went for food on a Saturday night and it was quiet and easy to find seats, even without booking (though that's most likely down to the bad weather we're currently having!) We opted for ordering food ourselves in the bar area over table service in the restaurant and it was served really quickly. We received generous portions which were fresh and appetizing - my husband had the baked camembert while I had roasted ling with colcannon (a fish I'd never even heard of, similar to cod and extremely delicious!) Faultless service from the staff and a lovely comfy, rustic atmosphere. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.
Good food, great atmosphere, love the different themes and the service was helpful and well-timed.
We were a walk-in group of 10 on a Sunday and the staff seated us and the service was great. We had roasts and some vegan food which was all yummy.
What a lovely meal we had today. The Sunday lunch was superb, hot, nicely presented, and delicious. One in the party had the fish pie and commented how lovely it was. The staff were attentive and polite and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a lovely meal or just a quiet drink. Well done, World's End and all the staff
Parking was easy and we were quick to get a table as we were only visiting for drinks. We were served quickly and the bar snacks we ordered came out quickly and were hot and delicious. They had board games to help yourself to which we had a lot of fun playing whilst we were there. Overall a great place to pop in for a drink and snack
We had a lovely Friday lunch at The Worlds End. There were 11 of us and everyone commented about how good the food was. We had a great table, with plenty of space. The service was perfect - they were polite and helpful and we felt comfortable. Plenty of parking at the back. Highly recommend.
A group of friends of mine gathered here for a get together at lunch time. I was early and I was shown to our table by a very kind waitress who offered me her arm to help me get down the step (I walk with a stick). It’s not often that people are so very kind. I ordered a coffee which was the nicest coffee I’ve had in a long time. My friends joined me and we were all rather engrossed in the very varied options of dishes in the menu. Eventually we all decided on our choices and when our food arrived we were delighted with the quality of the different dishes and the generous portions. I had the prawn Marie sandwich which was actually too big for me so I shared half of the sandwich with my friend and half of the chips (which were also delicious). Sadly we were all too full to be able to have a dessert! My daughter tells me I’m a fussy eater when we go out for a meal and I have to admit it’s true. With this pubs menu there were a good number of dishes that appealed to me which is a very rare event. We will definitely be coming here again!
Lovely food. Helpful staff. We're able to stay overnight in the motorhome. Definitely be going back.
I really like the World's End. I've stopped there several times when travelling and it's always great and very welcoming. I feel entirely happy coming in on my own, last time I was even able to get a little work done. Food is good, I had a chicken and bacon sandwich that was very tasty.
As usual we had a great meal here in a relaxing atmosphere (and dog friendly) BUT we had to wait 15 minutes for our drinks and 35 minutes for our meal (because of a large party coming in). Whilst we were informed of the expected delay by our excellent waiter this is poor staffing by the management (so bear it in mind).
We walked into the Worlds end pub last Sunday afternoon at 14.30. A nice buzz from the tables dotted with families, etc. There is a nice atmosphere here, very welcoming, comphy. I was with my daughter and her partner today after visiting one of the close by apiaries of South Street Honey. Kati wanted the chicken pie. It comes with a bit of mash and some cabbage, peas, and bacon. The pie was ok Kati said. It looked full of filling. A bit long in the microwave she said. Mash was not very buttery, and the cabbage mix had a lot of rooty bits in it, and again over microwaved. She ate it though. More gravy next time as well. Sarah had the double cheese burger. She said it was alright. She liked the chips. Cheese was nice in the burger the the meat patties she said were nothing special. I have the vegan burger. Chips were nice like Sarah's. The pickles were good (I asked for cows milk cheese which was swapped for the plant cheese) Why don't chefs toast the burger bun? Sarah's weren't toasted either. It stops the sauce seeping into the bun and adds another texture. Drinks were as expected. Pudding were offered but at the average £8.50 each we opted out. Our bill was £72 for 3 drinks and 3 main courses. It's a bit on the pricey side for average pub grub. If the niggles were sorted and a bit more attention to detail, this would be a great place to eat.
Good quick service. Staff friendly, not too pestering. Okay food at reasonable price. Excellent showcase of local history and heritage. The walls tell a story or two. Good facilities and seemed relatively covid safe. Very dog friendly inside and out in the beer garden area. Small enclosed area with play equipment amazing for small children. Overall very good; I would recommend.
Been a few times this year. A lovely nice and welcoming environment. Staff couldn’t be more helpful. Food I have found is a bit hit and miss. Tonight we had the fish burger, which came with fries and I requested normal peas as opposed to mushy peas. Nicely presented but for £17.95 a bit of a rip off. Tiny burger bun, quarter of a sauce ramekin of peas and 10 chips that were presented nicely in a pot. I fully understand prices of everything have gone up for employers, food, electric etc but this in essence was like a child’s sized meal. Presented on a tiny oblong plate so it didn’t look completely lost on the plate.
Good selection of dishes including vegetarian options. Care taken for 1 member of party who has a shellfish allergy. Friendly welcome for 4 adults and a friendly dog. Will recommend 👌
The kitchen staff here are very good, and we enjoyed a very tasty meal, that was prepared in very short time. However, the front of house staff were very disorganised. We were told we couldn't have food, before they even checked to see if we had booked, which we had, and the place was empty anyway. We had to ask to get our table cleaned, we were then coated in cleaning spray as it was a windy day, we then put in a food order at our table, we then were told to go and put food order in at bar, we then were asked for table number, so I walked back out to look for it but there wasn't one. It was soooo disorganised it was quite comical, but the food was really good. So no big deal!
Really good food, nice to see some higher welfare options, also a wide selection of drinks. Staff are friendly and helpful. Large car park makes it easy to stop here.there are some nice quiet areas but they also host birthday parties for large groups. Children and dogs also welcome.
Visited with my grandchildren. The pub was quiet and we got served quickly. The food was nice but portions slightly on the small side and I was left disappointed as my Maltese and honeycomb waffle did not come with ice cream where as my grandchildrens sticky toffee pudding and brownie did which didn't make sense to me. Every other pub/restaurant where I have had a waffle it comes with ice cream, cream or both.
Updated review: 3 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Date: 18/03/23. Since being taken over by Hall & Woodhouse, The World's End has sadly gone downhill. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice location but... Its no where near as good as it used to be and location alone isn't enough. Everything is a little less special now, the menu isn't as good, the food isn't as nice, the staff aren't quite as good, the attention to detail is very much lacking now which is such a shame to see this place fall from glory. There are now many other bar/restaurant locations in the area to compete with, which offer better value, and better food. This did not used to be the case. I do hope they are able to reverse this slow decline into mediocrity before its too late. Original review: 5 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Friendly and efficient staff. Food good. Over enthusiastic waiter.
I usually really like it here , but today the food was disappointing . My first choice wasn't available , and so I had fish and chips instead . Given I had fries and peas I had very few fries , and the fish ( I'm not sure what it was ) wasn't very nice at all ( partner ate it ) the parmigiana chicken was also not especially inspired and the fish pie not brilliant . The service was very friendly , although no one asked at any point how the food was , because if they had , I would have told them . Drinks were fine , but on the back of today I wouldn't go and eat there again . Too expensive for very average food .
Cosy nice looking pub but food was very sub par. 2 of our group had burgers which they said were nice, but 5 of us had Sunday roast (1pm) and it was really underwhelming. Stated as served 'pink', the beef was more well done and tough. The roasties were bland and soft, and the gravy was tasteless. The only thing that tasted of anything were the carrots and pea/leek mix. How you can charge £4.75 for cauli cheese as an extra is absolute robbery, especially when it’s a tiny portion, was basically boiled cauliflower with the smallest amount of cheese, and no sauce or seasoning. Shouldn’t still feel hungry after paying17.95. Won’t be returning for a roast. But a nice pub.
Nice place, ordered prawn tempura starter only 3 prawns disappointed, I ordered main flat iron steak tasty but tough. other half ordered dorset lamb 2 small cutlets not much taste enjoyed the gravy but small portion
Nice venue and good service but roasts were disappointing. Potatoes cold, veg bland and beef overcooked. Chicken was okay.
It was raining when we arrived and we had to wade through a huge puddle to get through the front door as the drain was blocked. I had new shoes on so had to remove them and enter in my bare feet. There was nobody to greet us and we hung about for some while before a passing waiter saw us to a table. No apologies were offered for the big puddle when we mentioned the problem! We were seated in a sort of passageway near the toilets well away from the rest of the tables although we had booked days ahead. The staff were not attentive and didn't even offer a menu. We found a dog-eared menu in a holder and were shocked at the prices. A vegetarian curry was £16 a portion and it wasn't a large portion, or particularly good. No desserts were offered, but once we'd eventually placed an order it took ages to come, and only after asking again. It was also expensive and not worth the wait! We were never offered extra drinks such as wine, or coffee etc. Staff seemed untrained and disinterested. Having, eventually, paid we braved the puddle, minus shoes, to leave and NEVER return.
We ordered 4 fish & chips & we all left the fish. It was appalling. Goodness knows what sort of fish it was but it was inedible. I presume this is a cost cutting exercise but it backfires as we will think twice about returning & have used this pub a lot. I would challenge any manager of the owning company to finish a plate of this & say they enjoyed it.
Rather poor experience. It took 30 minutes for a single pot of chips to come out to our table. For our table of 5, 2 meals came out together, then 15 minutes later 1 more came out, then another 10 minutes after that the other 2 came out. No apology or explanation for that. The fish was rubbery and served with approximately 12 chips. Drinks prices are also very expensive, £4.15 for a Coke zero that would cost pence is silly.
We visited this week as a party of six and I have to say the whole experience was somewhat disappointing. Firstly when ordering drinks we found that some basic items were not available eg no Guinness Zero no standard Coke apparently due to ordering issues. Then when someone came to take our food order the staff member went through about 6 items that were not available including Steak? Again we were told this was down to ordering issues. After taking our order the waitress returned to tell us that one of the Chicken dishes that 3 of our party had ordered they only had one left of. Overall the experience was underwhelming and I don't feel any of our party will be revisiting any time soon.
We reserved a table, but it took a long time for someone to come & seat us, when she did she gave no instructions e.g. order at the bar or its table service, we had to guess. When the drinks came I also asked for water which took about 15 minutes even though they were not busy. When our food came we were not asked if we needed anything else, I had to look for someone to ask for mayo. When we left one staff member looked at us, but said nothing the other did say thanks whilst walking past us. Customer service was none existent.
We have been here a few times for Sunday lunch the food has always very nice. We came for a family Sunday meal, 3 roast beef’s and a vegetarian nut roast, our server Caitlin was very helpful and attentive. The food was ok / nice, but not as good as it has been in the past, which was very disappointing, the aged beef was supposed to be served pink, as stated on the menu, but was properly cooked all the way through and rather tough, the potatoes were very dry and required lots of gravy, the red cabbage was extremely peppery and over powering, the nut roast was just ok, the Yorkshire puddings were excellent, the pigs in blankets were yummy too along with the cauliflower cheese. This is my personal review of our Sunday lunch costing £109 for 4 adults, will be be back… NO…
Been many times and loved it but sorry to say today's visit was very disappointing, long delays for ordering, slow food and drink delivery. Food quality poor in comparison to previous visits, also felt it was very expensive for what we received. Won't be in a hurry to return. 😞
Booked into the World's End Bradford on Tone, Somerset for Christmas Day Lunch today. It was atrocious. We had our starters (one of the children's starters came well after everyone else had eaten) and over two and a half hours later I went to ask what was happening with our main meal. I was told that they couldn't say when our meal would be served. Whilst I was waiting to complain, another family were getting a refund as their meal was also sadly lacking. The table had not been cleared from the starters. When the meal finally arrived it was clear that it was rehashed from previous meals, just thrown together and cold. I complained to a waitress who said that she agreed that the service and the food was poor, she said that she could completely understand why we were upset. After all this was our Christmas Dinner. I asked to speak to the manager and was told the manager was helping in the kitchen. Eventually I managed to speak to the manager. She was crying. When I asked why she hadn't come to the table to talk to us. She said that she'd been 'too busy doing refunds'. (That just says it all) It was really upsetting. I felt sorry for her. I felt sorry for us. Then I was in tears. It was a total disaster. This is the first time ever that my family (Who had travelled some distance) have not had a Christmas Dinner. What a disaster.
Well what can I say we have eaten here a few times now and I have to say today 19/10/2025 was absolutely shocking the service was ok the staff pleasant but the food was diabolical the menu boasts beer battered fish and chips well what was served was definitely not what the menu implies the fish was not beer batter and the chips were less than a handful which were dry and hard I would personally say they were oven chips and before anyone tells me different I have worked in top restaurants and eaten in many pubs and restaurants and I have to say this is nearly the worst meal I’ve eaten in a long time I even couldn’t finish my meal also the turkey roast at a price off 22 pounds was also shocking the roast potatoes were rock hard as if they had been standing there for a few days the turkey tasted like something you would get out Iceland which for the price of the meal was substandard I may seem picky but when I’m charged 82 pounds for a meal and most of it had to be left you can see my frustration which is a shame as we have eaten here before with no complaints and great food I understand it was busy but this gives no excuse for substandard food even a member of staff told me that people had complained about the small portions of chips which you think would have been addressed hopefully if we come back again things may be a little different sorry for this damning review but im very disappointed please try and improve as this can be quite a nice place to eat I’ve also posted a picture of the fish and chips which is charged at 15.95 again not worth this price by no means
Awful Christmas day lunch with the family. Food took hours to arrive and when it did it was inedible. Extremely disappointing and upsetting to leave a Christmas day lunch to then go home and prepare a meal.
We visited this pub on a Saturday evening around 7pm. Despite the place being almost empty and plenty of staff on duty, the service was surprisingly poor. Our drink order was taken quickly, but it took over 15 minutes to actually receive the drinks — not a great start. We ordered six adult meals and one child’s meal, as our older children have healthy appetites. Shockingly, the children’s meal was not only the largest portion served but was plastered in salt — genuinely concerning given it was meant for a young child. Three of us ordered mac and cheese, which turned out to be the size of a microwave ready-meal from a supermarket — and somehow they cost £14.50 each. Incredibly underwhelming and absolutely not worth the price. The garlic bread was forgotten and only brought to the table at the end of the meal after we reminded staff. The burgers, while tasty, also came in small portions and were again over-salted. At no point during the meal did anyone check in with us or ask if everything was okay, even though staff kept checking in with the table next to us. We were asked if we wanted dessert, to which we said yes — and then were completely ignored. No one came back to take our order. Empty bottles, glasses, and used cutlery piled up on our table while we sat and waited. Thankfully, there’s a small play area that kept the kids occupied during the wait. Admittedly, we didn’t raise our concerns directly with staff at the time, as we hoped things would turn around — especially considering there were seven of us, and we were hard to miss in an otherwise quiet pub. But instead of improving, the service just dropped off completely. Eventually, I had to go to the bar myself with our empties and ask someone to come over — over 30 minutes after being offered dessert. Again, this was at around 8:30pm, and the pub was still nearly empty. To their credit, the desserts were delicious, and the waffle presentation — while it looked like it had just been chucked on the plate — gave us a bit of a laugh. It was clear the kitchen staff were ready to clock off, but at least the dessert tasted good. In total, we spent £200. Honestly, we all agreed we would have had a better, more satisfying, and better value-for-money experience at a Hungry Horse. Disappointing on so many levels, and we won’t be returning.
