Lovely food at the Ivy Asia. Michael K looked after us really well. We had a voucher from their Christmas offer to spend so had the Experience Menu. Delicious.

Another wonderful meal at Ivy Asia Cardiff and each time it seems to get better. From the lovely warm welcome at the check in desk and cloakroom service to the friendly table service. Issey was a joy serving our table, kind, friendly and professional, she was a masterclass that every restaurant could benefit from. The food was sublime. Perfectly cooked and presented. The premium experience was delicious and we were fortunate to be there when the Veuve was on offer too. Looking forward to the next time...

Had a lovely experience at Ivy Asia. The setting is absolutely beautiful. It’s got unique decor and a vibrant atmosphere. The menu had a good variety of dishes to choose from. We tried a mix of small plates and mains. Everything was well presented and full of flavour. Service was friendly and professional. The staff were helpful with recommendations and made sure we were looked after. Overall, a great spot for a nice night out. Definitely worth a visit for the full experience!

Had dinner here and I can honestly say it had the most interesting decor of any restaurant I have ever been in. The food was brilliant and very authentic. Service seemed a bit confused at times, we waited some time for first drinks. Drinks were expensive, which was a shame as it put me off buying more than I did. Overall though a stand out dining experience that was unique, we talked about afterwards and the final bill was quite reasonable. Highly recommend.

Wow! This place was so cool. The decor and atmosphere was amazing, with a full sakura tree in the centre of the restaurant. The food was tasty - we got the sharing menu and it was fantastic. The dry ice was so cool! I’d definitely recommend the sushi.

My friend and I decided to order from their dragon set lunch menu. Priced at £19.95pp for 2 courses, we thought that was excellent value for money. We added dessert for an additional £5 each. Our meal was absolutely delicious. I honestly can't fault a thing. The service was excellent. I just love the decor and general ambience. We ordered: Crispy fried tiger prawns with chilli lime & ginger dressing. King oyster & shiitake gyoza. Honey & sesame chicken. Keralan chickpea & shishito pepper curry, steamed rice & wok fried greens. Coconut pana cotta. It was my friends birthday, so they brought out complimentary mochi balls which was a lovely touch 😊 I would definitely take advantage of this lunchtime menu again!

This a great place to wine and dine yourself. I booked a table through OpenTable and even though we were running late it could be changed no problem. We waited only a little while, while having a bottle of wine at the bar and the barmen were very knowledgeable about the wines being offered. The food was an excellent feast for the taste buds and all was very greatly done. I ordered the little pork belly pieces and they were mouth watering and very elegantly presented when delivered to the table. Yes, the prices are at the higher end but I expected that and we wanted to be treated before going to the theatre. Also, worth mentioning the interior of the restaurant is very extravagant and the splendour can be seen everywhere. Would recommend if you are prepared to pay higher prices for the experience.

What a fantastic meal in an amazing space. Everywhere you looked was a a feast for the eyes, as you had your taste buds ickled with stunning food. Would definitely recommend, the was a theatre about the whole experience. The one very quirky thing was a mannequin stood at the urinal in the gents that speaks.

Great food. Came out very fast and was hot. The service was amazing. We arrived 15 minutes before our booking and we were seated for a drink at the bar before we were seated at our table. Bar staff were very attentive and kind (it was incredibly busy as well). We were seated to our table and our server was Lauryn. She was amazing, offered to explain any details of the menu and was very helpful and happy which is lovely to see. The food was amazing no faults whatsoever. We couldn’t actually finish our food as we ordered too much but Lauryn packaged it into a takeaway box so we could enjoy later on in the day which was lovely of her. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great. They had a Dj playing subtle music, which was nice. The decor is outstanding, nothing like I’ve ever seen before. Highly recommend.

Amazing meal and bordering in perfect service. Brilliant experience, atmosphericly beautiful. It is expensive compared to my normal eating out locations but worth every penny based on tadays 80 th birthday celebrations. 👌🎉❤️

Went here for dinner with a friend having eaten at the London branch. Expectations were met with the high calibre of service, decoration and quality of food. We arrived a little early for drinks and were greeted with a warm welcome and seated at the bar. Once the table was ready, we were shown to the table and our drinks were taken for us. Great customer experience. We ordered a variety of dishes including sushi, sashimi, curries and desserts. All dishes were lovely, packed full of flavour and vibrant presentation. Lastly, the decoration of the restaurant is excellent. A real wow factor that would cater for meals for work, romance and catch ups. Overall, the Cardiff branch was excellent and we enjoyed our dinning experience.

Pleasently surprised and far outranks The Ivy. Ivy Asia has really fresh and tasty food, which seems to have had a lot of thought put into how their flavours marry up. Asian fusion to suit all. They enquired a couple of times about allergies and had a huge vegetarian selection. I got to try lots of things I wouldn't normally eat but some of the classic Asian dishes I loved were present and often with a twist. Couldn't recommend the vegetarian experience on the a la carte menu enough!

Came for a really nice dinner . And had a collection of starters and and mains, the belly pork was extremely tasty and so was the prawn tempura sushi. All the food was very good and so were the cocktails.

One of the best dinners we had in Cardiff - recommend booking any special occasions here. We celebrated our anniversary with a dinner and some drinks. Syed went and beyond to make our experience special. Although it was very busy at the restaurant (Christmas weekends), the food arrived quick and hot. It was our first time here, and we found it better than the Ivy next door. Food items we loved from the Festive Samurai Menu - Gyozas (starter), Lamb massaman (mains), and both dessert options of Donuts and Panna Cotta.

What an absolute delight. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left it felt perfect. We had the lovely Michael K who was exceptionally attentive and nothing was an issue. He always knew when to be around when we needed him even though he had a large number of tables to look after. We had the set dinner menu and the food was just fantastic. Pork Gyoza and Prawn for starters which came out piping hot and the prawns had a lovely light tempura batter to them. Mains my partner had the tofu and broccoli and I had the prawn rending - both bursting with flavours. Overall couldn’t fault it at all

Simply stunning! We chose the set menu which is great. We ordered prawns, skewers, beef and chicken. This was accompanied by rice and greens Staff were really friendly and the food tasted superb. We loved the venue too, very different and worth a visit

Can't believe I've given somewhere a 5* - first time I think. The food matched the 'theatre' of the place. The waiter was 'spot on' and enjoyed the evening. 2 dishes came out 'luke warm' but I mentioned it to the waiter and replaced immediately. As we had taken a tapas type approach to the food it didn't really matter.

A must go for a special occasion or if you just want an nice meal in a great ambience! Decor is excellent, and the food was delicious. Attentive service as well, and the set dinner menu is good value for money.

This is not just food its a whole experience. You can discover flavours that you have never tried before or you can explore flavours that you already know. Great combinations and super fresh. This is not a everyday lunch tho, rather a treat due to prices being rather high. Its definitely worth to try!

We had such a fantastic experience at Ivy Asia, and a big part of that was thanks to Rhiannon. She was incredibly attentive throughout our visit — always nearby when we needed her, but never intrusive. She took the time to talk us through the menu and gave excellent recommendations for both food and drinks, all of which were spot on. Her knowledge and enthusiasm really elevated the whole evening and made us feel genuinely looked after. It was a noticeably better experience than we had at The Ivy Brasserie a couple of weeks ago, and Rhiannon’s service made all the difference. We’ll definitely be returning — and hopefully sitting in her section again!

We were served by Joe, he was wonderfully friendly and helpful - made sure we felt comfortable and was inviting. We did ask to move tables as it was very cramped - which I did not appreciate. Food had a beautiful presentation with dry ice effect. I would highly recommend trying the Saki Flight if you wish to try out Saki.

Went Saturday 2nd August for a birthday meal with family. Had the Ivy Asia experience Menu for £60 per person, and wow it was awesome. The atmosphere was great, Lauryn looked after us and was absolutely fabulous, attended to all of our needs, polite, friendly and ensured we were all looked after, couldn’t fault her at all. Would recommend to others as we had the best night there and will definitely be visiting again. Five star service all around.

We arrived in Cardiff as part of our road trip this summer. We are celebrating 31years married so decided to try a restaurant we have not been to yet. The Ivy Asia did not disappoint. We had a lovely meet and greet when we arrived and felt very welcomed! We were taken to our table where we were greeted by ‘Issey’. She was so helpful and attentive. She helped us to choose the perfect meal. It was delicious. We went for snacks with a drink, followed by a shared starter. The flavours were unique and very tasty. We then asked Issey for a break. She understood and made this possible. She checked on us and when we were ready ordered our main for us. The main was first class. The flavours unique and the quality first class. Then to top of f the meal there was a lovely sweet treat for outfit anniversary. Thank you to Issey for making our evening so special. You are doing a great job.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ivy Asia in Cardiff, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and carefully crafted to perfection. Every bite was a delight! Some dishes are also halal, which is a great option for those with dietary preferences. Our waiter, TJ, was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful. He made sure we had everything we needed and added to the overall great atmosphere of the restaurant. The entire staff were welcoming and professional, making us feel truly valued as guests. The décor inside is simply stunning. The vibrant colours, intricate details, and unique design make the whole space feel special and exciting. It’s an immersive experience that adds to the enjoyment of the meal. The cocktails were also exceptional—bursting with flavours and absolutely delicious. They complemented the meal perfectly and added an extra touch of indulgence to the experience. Overall, Ivy Asia Cardiff is a must-visit. Amazing food, excellent service, and a beautiful setting—highly recommended!

We visited for lunch yesterday on a Christmas day out in Cardiff. Neither of us had been to an Ivy before but always wanted to. It did not disappoint. As we walked in, the decor was stunning, with beautiful music playing and a fabulous atmosphere. The table settings were very festive with our own ‘Ivy’ crackers. Our waiter Rhys was wonderful. He was so friendly and attentive, explaining the menus and recommending his favourites. We had a fabulous time and the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning.

Wow what a setting, we got lured in by the pretty lights and fabulous decor but the food was the star of the show. Bethany was our lovely host for the evening (thank you). We partook in a festive tasting menu which gave us a great taste of the menu. The food was top draw with the added touch of a little theatre with the presentation. I would highly recommend visiting here if you are in town.

What a treat this was. Exceptional food with the finest ingredients. Attentive and knowledgeable service. Absolutely superb in stunning settings. If you're looking for an experience then this is the place, we chose the set Regional Experience menu and could not fault it. Thank you Ivy Asia.

Had a gorgeous meal here courtesy of a very welcome Xmas gift voucher for the Ivy group. Fantastically unique decor, knowledgeable staff, food spectacular and perfectly portioned. Oh and the cocktails and wine list were also wonderful. No faults to report.

First time visiting Ivy Asia after hearing really good things and It did not disappoint! The food was delicious and cooked really well. Drinks were also yum. Our server Alex C was great too. He provided us some options of what food to have and also he allowed us to enjoy our food as well as checking in when needed and not overly checking in. He was very friendly and chatted with us too asking if we were celebrating anything. They also bought out a little dessert for my partner as we were celebrating his birthday. Cannot fault the food and service and would highly recommend!!!

Amazing restaurant, rich foods with amazing flavours. The presentation was interesting and flamboyant if you're into that type of thing. Great for an anniversary. A little on the expensive side and it would have been a 5star if I hadn't felt ill the next day. Im unsure if it was the richness of the food or something didn't agree with me, but it took a few hours to get over.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and the place was beautiful, the decor and atmosphere really stood out. The service was attentive, and the presentation of the food was impressive. However, as someone who is Asian, I found that the flavours weren’t very authentic; it felt more like a Pan-Asian or Western-style take on Asian cuisine. Still, it was a lovely experience overall, and a great spot for a special occasion.

Set menu for around lunch time was priced very well. The atmosphere was top notch, the indoor decor is impressive, there is a lot to admire and appreciate. Similarly the set up for the cutlery on the table was very nice, and the little details (such as the naming detail on the chopsticks) were a lovely touch. Wait staff were very attentive and I appreciated their hospitality, I felt like no matter what I asked for, I would be accommodated, even if I didn’t actually rest that theory. Personally the feeling was enough for me to be happy. The food itself was fine, for most it would probably be considered very good but I have definitely tasted more flavourful food from Asian-food focused establishments. I may have been spoilt by my previous experience in more expensive, higher end restaurants though. Really, if you like Asian food, it definitely has enough flavour. I’d say food is middle of the pack, which for the price, was absolutely adequate. The pork in particular had a lot of flavour, and I appreciated that the spicy elements of the food lived up to their names as they were indeed, rather spicy. I did have an issue with the shared greens, with the greens being over cooked and stringy, I would have appreciated a crunch. Cocktails a tad expensive and personally with less taste than I would expect from a cocktail over £8. I would go here again, I would like to try the main menu “experiences”, but I’m personally unsure if I would for the price yet.

We visited the ivy asia for the first time and both enjoyed it thoroughly. Our waitress Lauryn was really helpful with explaining the menu and checking on us. She was really friendly and chatty. The food was amazing but we were both slightly disappointed with dessert, it was just not what we were expecting I think. Lovely experience though and definitely going to be back.

The restaurant itself is most charming, and the cuisine quite delightful. My only regret is the choice of music, which struck me as ill-suited to the ambience of the surroundings. Something more in keeping with the refinement of the house would, I feel, have been far more appropriate. Another small blemish was the matter of water being added to our bill, despite our neither requesting it nor, indeed, accepting it when offered. It is but a trifling charge, yet one that leaves a less-than-gracious impression. Accordingly, I have marked the atmosphere as a 3, for the music proved rather disagreeable. Nonetheless, the overall experience was a pleasant one, and I should not hesitate to recommend a visit.

1st time in the Ivy Asia been to the The Ivy a few times.Webt on a Saturday evening without a reservation so we were accommodated with a outside table .Service wasn’t great felt one the staff members was new but we have to learn .The food was very nice but small portions and expensive .The atmosphere is inside the restaurant so sitting outside you do feel your missing out we didn’t have desert and had cocktails at the bar which was a nice end to the night

Excellent Sunday set menu evening meal. If the gaudi decor doesn't trigger an epileptic fit and the incessant drone of the beats don't cause you a migraine, you should enjoy this place. 4 courses, if you count the wontons and poppadoms, for £32.50 was tremendous value, but then comes the stealth attack of the service charge! Why not be upfront and include it in the price? Well, I guess we know why. That said, with two coffees included, we still didn't exceed £90 for really tasty meals. Full of intriguing flavours (how could the stuff that looked like strands of red hair on the tempura prawns, be so hot?) and generous enough portions. The aforesaid prawns were amazing (so I'm told), the duck in hoisin sauce salad was bursting with taste, if not overly salty. The teryaki salmon was slighty better than standard fare. Salt and pepper beef fillet with ginger noodles didn't justify the £4 supplement as some of the few strips of beef were quite tough and the ginger was overpowering on times. The portion of sticky rice and pak choi was adequate. The mochi ice cream balls covered the spectrum; one good, one tasteless and the other ok. The passion fruit doughnuts however were different class. And there were 6 of them! All said, it was a very good meal at a not ridiculous price. Worth investigating the menu further.

This was my first experience of Ivy Asia and I was extremely excited about the visit. It did not dissappoint with the wow factor when first walking in. The decor was insane. Cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling with lanterns lighting up the bar. The ceiling incredibly painted with a murial of a dragon and beneath it, the floor lit up turquiose. Samuri figures dotted around the venue (including the mens loo) and the usual Ivy art work makes you feel like youve been transported to the depths of Asia. The service is what you would normally expect from an Ivy, exceptional, attentive, friendly and helpful. But sadly, thats where my compliments end. The food was ok. Not what you would hope for when paying £90 for 2 main dishes of meat. And thats literally all we got served. 1 piece of salmon and 1 piece of steak. No sides. No veg. No carbs. Both tasted absolutely delicious. But if like me, you eat food because youre hungry, this just didnt come close to filling me up. I thought about grabbing a Slim Chickens on the way home, if only I hadnt spent all of my money on a piece of steak already!! Overall, its still a wonderful place to go for a special occasion. It needs to be experienced. But I dont think I'll be going back, I think I'll stick to the normal Ivy in the future.

A very busy dinner service with waiters mixing up tables for service. Food was nice, good flavours. Was hoping for something more. Small tiles for big serving items like the duck and dessert. The sharing dessert was delicious, but for 2 people just so over the top it was too much.

I would say a disappoint but it’s a chain so I don’t know what I expected. Booked a table for a birthday early Saturday evening, we arrived 5 mins before our booking and were told we would be taken to our table, we were in fact not taken to our table. We were seated at the bar without being told anything else and were sat there for 20 mins. May I add that there wasn’t even 2 chairs for both of us. When we were finally seated the tables were stupidly close and we were seated right next to the dj booth (why does an Asian fusion restaurant need a dj?). Drinks were stupidly priced. Sushi was good quality and presented lovely but the sides and starters were disappointing, lacking flavour and portion size. Staff were okay, we didn’t get check in on once our food was delivered, they forgot a coffee we ordered and also were hard to catch to ask for the bill. Overall a highly priced somewhat disappointing night, don’t think I’ll be back.

Visited the Ivy Asia back in September. Whilst the service and atmosphere was exactly what I have come to know from the Ivy, I did however find the food to be a bit lackluster for the price point. Often lacking in seasoning and not the quality Ive come to expect from the Ivy. The location and atmosphere however is amazing and the restaurant itself is lovely however I found the food to be lacking somewhat.

Visited the Ivy Asia 29th / June / 2025, I had a booking. When I arrived there was no one at reception. When she came I was greeted fine and showed to my table. Asked if I wanted my bag or jacket taken decided to keep it on me as I had an upgraded Macbook Pro Laptop worth about 3k in my bag and I've had a designer coat stolen once at another restaurant, so i'm scared for life by that experience. Overall great ambiance at the IVY ASIA and decor, the illuminated floor was special and the fake flowers were thankfully not dusty looking at this location. I ordered the set dinner menu £27 - 2 bottles of water came to £10 and £5 extra for desert also paid a service charge. came to about £47. I enjoyed my meal and was finishing off my water and relaxing, however when I adjusted the cushions and moved the many cushions to get comfortable and put my had down on the seat I felt a sharp pain in my finger almost like a pin prick, I looked at my finger and it was bleeding heavily, looking at the seat I noticed shards of thin glass, like from a broken wine glass. I went to inform reception. I went to the toilet to rinse off the blood and cut. I was not wearing glasses and found the warrior figure in the bathroom with head turned peeing at the urinals was random and weird decor. They gave me an anti-septic wipe and a plaster. When I returned the glass was still there, and had not been cleaned up and was not very noticeable, so could have cut myself again. With the waitress I moved the cushions and my bag which revealed quite a few small shards of glass under the cushions. The waiter that removed the glass and started cleaning the seat said that no one had broken a glass that day, which made me think the standards were not that great, as it means it was probably there for a long period. When the waiter cleaned the seat there was also a lot or dirt on the cloth from the seat and when I used part of the wipe they gave me to wipe up a drop of blood it was very filthy black with dirt on the leather type seat, which did not leave a good feeling of hygiene standards. The couple next to me said it was not very good and that I should sue. I said I would not sue over a small cut on my finger, but it was a bit worrying and would kind of put me off going again for a while. Whoever broke a glass should have informed them or they should have cleaned it properly and checked and cleaned under the cushions. Not too happy, while I did get an apology. It should not have really happened in the first place and was a bad and to an otherwise good meal.

Maybe our expectations were too high but the Ivy Asia failed to deliver. The restaurant is pretty impressive and has a great buzz but this is the end of the good news. The staff try to be attentive but are clearly poorly trained and managed and even manage to be quite rude. The food is extremely disappointing - regardless of the high prices. Soggy batter, gloopy sauces, tasteless curries lacking any substance. It doesn’t match up to the standards of the Ivy Brasserie next door…

I
Irene Wambui

Beautiful restaurant in terms of the decor however, the food and service did not impress us. The wait time from the moment we ordered our drinks, starter and main was way too long. We noticed how other people would come in way after we arrived but had their starters or drinks served first. This was annoying to watch to say the least. When the main was brought out, my partner was served his steak without any cutlery. He had to ask for it. The service was not the most enjoyable. Very disorganised and not welcoming. The only thing that we enjoyed were: my partner- Donuts for desert; Me - The Indonesian shrimp/prawn curry; both- Man can go (non alcoholic) drinks. The rest was bare and not that enjoyable. For the price we paid (£110), I’m shocked at how things were. Don’t think I’ll be back again.

Visited the Ivy Asia in Cardiff today with my Husband for our first date day in such a long time after recently becoming parents for the first time and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The Gochugang glazed chicken came out first, and that was the only dish I could say we enjoyed - full of flavour!! However the whole experience was disappointing and we were so excited to come here, especially because it took so much courage to leave our little one, but o am so sad to write this poor review. I appreciate the waitress mentioned we don’t do starters or mains as such, it’s more of a sharing experience but reassured us there will be plenty of time between dishes - on saying that it was a huge wait from when the chicken arrived to the table, to when the prawn tempura roll and beef tataki to came out, resulting my husband eating his glazed chicken alone!! We even had to ask waitress where the other two dishes were. Whilst eating those - literally shortly after our mains of duck and belly pork was given to us too. We had to ask to remove the dirty dishes to make room, and due to still eating the roll and tataki our mains went cold. The dishes that were served today had no actual taste and flavour. I was so disappointed in the seared beef tataki and the aromatic five spiced confit duck leg as like I said they just did not have any flavour, resulting us drowning the dishes in soya sauce just to have some flavour. I appreciate the waitress said this was a new dish to the menu, but for the price they charged, we were really disappointed. Spending in total £150 on a meal that neither myself or husband did not enjoy, its left us feel sickened. Decor was lovely and they have definitely paid loads of attention too that! Very pretty!! But for the food and experience, it’s definitely left a bitter taste.

The restaurant is gorgeous inside but that’s about it. Food was really disappointing - sashimi was rubbery, dumplings had no flavour, dry chicken, overcooked rice, and the char siu pork was really chewy. For the price, expected more interesting flavours or at least nicely cooked meat but wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of it was microwaved. Portions were small and super overpriced. Cocktails were also nothing special. Great spot for photos but that’s about it. Everything was so bland and we left feeling like we’d wasted our money

Cannot review the food as we didn’t get to eat. We were shown to our seats, but asked to be moved pretty much straight away as I was sat in a draft. It being quite cold outside I’d much rather sit somewhere warm if I’m to eat. That’s where our visit to the Ivy Asia Cardiff pretty much ended. After almost 30 minutes I decided to try and find out why no one had bothered to come and take our orders. This was followed by a bit of faffing about and eventually someone sauntered up and asked what we would like to drink. No apology, and this person seemed a little more than the usual waiting staff. I explained that we had been waiting for quite some time to be served, and others that had arrived after us had been served. An apology was offered, but in such a manner I’m not sure where or who it was aimed at. We went to the Giggling Squid and had a wonderful meal there, the staff were far more attentive, and only about a quarter of the amount than at the Ivy Asia.
