I recently visited Forage Farm for Christmas, and it was a wonderful experience! Parking was easy, and they even have EV charging stations. It’s one of the best farm experiences I’ve had this year, with everything you need and a fantastic selection of activities for the children. I highly recommend the Elf show, and the Santa was the best one we have seen! They have a farm shop with local produce and a restaurant where you can dine in. We didn’t get to see everything, but it’s clean and the huts/tents are great! I’m definitely coming back next year.
I visited Forage Farm Shop yesterday for the PYO pumpkins, and it was a great experience! The ticket price was affordable, and the staff were really welcoming ,they signposted everyone clearly to the right parking area and made sure access was easy for all visitors. There was everything you could want for a family day out: tasty food, a lovely play area, and plenty of Halloween decorations, perfect for photos and family fun. The only thing I’d say is that the pumpkins were a bit pricey. Overall, it was a wonderful visit and I’d definitely recommend it for a fun autumn day out! 🎃🍁
Went for the PYO Pumpkins event and it was really well organised. Prices per car, which was decent and there was plenty to do. The pumpkin selection was huge and loads of choice of all shapes, sizes and colours. A maize maze, the animals, balloon animals and face paints, pumpkin rodeo and catapults. It was fab. The RSPB guys who there were really great with the kids and they love talking about nature and wildlife. Top job, all.
Kids had a fabulous time yesterday at PYO , so well organised and not very muddy !! After having the best time at flower picking in August I was really looking forward to this , I don’t have many pics of the older kids as they were in the corn maze for two hours !! Highly recommended
What a wonderful place to have food. I will say that the food was amazing. The service by a young gentleman Neo was excellent. In fact I will say all the staff were great and very helpful, from the supervisor who was looking after the front of house customers and also the restaurant manager. The chef and his team are presenting you with some great looking food, but not only is the presentation fantastic, but the quality of the food was second to none. The way the food was cooked was just perfection, and I will say we had a lovely evening with quality products and service with a lovely Welsh lager as well. All the food and drink products are locally produced and bought. This place is well worth a visit to have a wonderful meal and to be honest it is excellent value. 100% we shall go back again. Shame that they have closed the little tractor park for the children, also why they have built it on a hill beats me, they expect young 3 and 4 year old children to peddle up hill, they have so much space they could have built to allow children hours of fun.
Very impressed with the place! It’s how you will expected for the investment and more! It was recommended by one of the founders/main investors. High quality in everything and the price/es reflected that for some of the products. They have their own chicken and pork farms for meat only but anything else could be found at the original or organic maybe. Pictures said it all!😀it is a lot to explore and is not just the shop. Plenty of parking spaces and outdoor areas for people to enjoy the seating and for children to play! Absolutely recommend it! Very interesting!
Close to Cowbridge this farm shop is a little gem. A decent play park for the kids nestled amongst plenty of picnic tables. You can get breakfast/lunch or just a coffee and a cake. Plenty to see/ buy in the artisan farm shop and a nice butchers too.
Lovely farm shop and cafe. The food was great, the service was very attentive and friendly, and the prices were normal for what you'd expect at a quality farm shop. Outside there is a tented seating area and play park for the kids. We enjoyed everything about our visit for breakfast and would stop off again if we're ever in the area.
A wet Thursday lunchtime and the restaurant at Forage is as busy as ever, what a success story this place has been! The emphasis on local produce, a talented kitchen team and good service is a winning combination. We tried a spring salad and an open mushroom sandwich and both were excellent. Not the cheapest place, but a lovely spot for a quality lunch with views.
Went today, as I was visiting my parents, for the first time. The place had a lovely atmosphere and all of the staff were incredibly polite and kind. The food was great, a little on the pricey end. We had the burger, pork belly and Welsh rarebit. The burger tasted brilliant and stood out as the most flavoursome, the pork and rarebit was also lovely. Drinks were very expensive unfortunately. Great produce with a great selection and variety of products from the farm shop, expensive, but that's to be expected
Booking a table is advised for this lovely place. The food is amazing and the wait staff are so friendly and helpful. The shop sells great local food which is a great way to boost the local economy.
A lovely family meal. Food was great as usual, staff is polite and helpful. The sticky toffee pudding was a great finish to a very pleasant evening.
Attended on my birthday for steak night. It was a great experience. Everyone loved their food! Was cooked to perfection. The staff were fab, especially (I think her name was) Georgia. We will be most definitely booking again soon.
We had a booking Sunday for my 60th birthday for ten people. Having been before, we knew what to expect. The staff were attentive and polite, nothing was a problem. The food was excellent as usual, and I think a few will return, as we will. Everyone had a great time and left still talking about the experience. Thank you Forage for making my day.
Absolutely lovely. Went for breakfast with my daughter for my birthday. Delicious menu. Good green breakfast available. She loved the smoked salmon sourdough. Service a little slow especially with the drinks. They forgot our request for water but heyho.. The outside play area is innovative, fun for a mix of kids to play. They even had small pedal tractors for small kids to use. Chickens on the grounds I presume the delicious hen eggs. Lovely menu for outside and separate area for snacks and coffees. So much to see. I believe painting classes are held here too. Oh and ice cream outside which looked delicious. Will definitely return with my grandchildren one day.
Visited here to see Santa with the kids. Great little set up and Christmas story to keep them entertained. The ladies that played the elves were fantastic. Santa was awesome as well. Easy parking. Great food and farm shop too.
Some of the highest quality food you'll get in the area. Amazing service and big portions of food, well worth the money. Stunning scenery and plenty of local walks in the area as well. 100% must visit, especially if you want to try the local produce in the farm shop.
It was absolutely wonderful , some great food and a fabulous place to visit . The dishes were delicious and we look forward to another visit . Thanks to the chefs for inspired food and the amazing staff who looked after us , service was excellent. The wine was very good and ice bucket was very appreciated See you soon 😃 Kind regards From , Alison ,Glyn ,Sarah & myself .
Lovely 'new build' with further facilities in the making. A compact but interesting shop with a nice selection of goods including a fresh meat counter, some 'own brand' produce, and others from local suppliers interspersed with more widely available quality goods. In the café, the coffee is good and cakes are lovely, with a wider menu also available, and I believe all served items are available in the shop. Rather expensive it must be said; £16 for coffee & cake x2, but nice for a treat. Appears to be dog friendly, and there's a big outdoor area with plenty of bench seating. The only place of its kind in the area; worth a visit :)
Love a good farm shop! Bought a selection of products from the farm shop and butchery, all very fresh. Staff very helpful look forward to a returning visit
📌Wayne's Eats - Local South Wales Food Blogger (Instagram/Facebook Review) Looking for the ultimate roast dinner this Christmas? 🤔 I recently ranked my top 20 restaurants of the year, out of 100 different restaurants I visited this year. I officially named Forage Farm Kitchen as my number 1 pick of the year! 🎄 📍@foragefarmshop Well they've only gone and done it again! 👏 They've recently just released this brand new Christmas menu and this is in contention for the best roast of 2023! 📌 For just £32 per person you too can have this epic roast dinner this Christmas! ➡️ Today's Menu: 🧆 Farmhouse Terrine, Onion Marmalade, Crostini 🧀 Breaded Audigy Brie, Port and Cranberry Compote V 🍗 Roast Turkey Charlie Parry's Honey Bourbon, Maple Cured Penllyn Estate Pigs in Blankets, Apricot and Chestnut Stuffing, Honey Glazed Carrots and Parsnips, Roast Potatoes, Cranberry, Bread Sauce, Port Gravy. 🍟 Christmas Loaded Fries Stuffing, Bacon Bits and Gravy 🍮 Sticky Toffee Pudding, Salted Butterscotch Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream 🍽️ Review: The first word that comes to mind is quite simply exceptional! The attention to detail is second to none, from the cosy warm restaurant beautifully decorated for Christmas. The amazing service, shout out to Elli who was very sweet and friendly. But most importantly the food was just outstanding, both starters were unique in flavours but equally delicious. The Breaded Audigy Brie was our favourite though. The Roast Turkey dinner was genuinely incredible, never have I experienced a roast with so many flavours bursting though. The Turkey was cooked perfectly and wasn't in the slightest bit dry, delicious pigs in blankets. The stuffing was lovely, nicely glazed roast potatoes. Even the carrots were delicious, very sweet and honey glazed. Topped off with a red wine gravy, it was just perfect! 🙌 Also loved the loaded fries, a must add to compliment your meal and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing too! This is an absolute must visit this Christmas or anytime of the year to be honest 👏
Visited for my grandma’s birthday and had such a lovely time! The food was amazing, big thanks to all the servers who were very attentive and gave great recommendations. Will definitely be back :)
Excellent food, good service, reasonably priced. Unique and characterful venue with nice views across Cowbridge. Will definitely visit again. And again!
Santa/christmas event was absolutely brilliant. Kids loved it and plenty of activities and photo opportunities! Well priced for what you get over all. Very impressed thank you all
Superb meal at Forage. Was recommended by a few friends and I will be doing the same. Lovely service from everyone and extremely delicious food. Have booked again to take parents for lunch 👍
Farm shop was tiny but lovely. While visiting we saw that the restaurant was open that evening, (only open Friday and Saturday from 6pm). So booked a table and came back. So glad we did as waiting staff were brilliant and food was exceptional!
Had several breakfasts there and they were great. Then tried their evening meals and they did not disappoint. Recommended.
We had a great time pumpkin picking! Enjoyed a nice pizza and a chimney cake by the warm fire and got spooked in the corn maze. Fair prices & lovely people
This place is the gift that keeps giving. Want a nice breakfast/lunch? ✔️ Want to pick up some special foodie bits for dinner? ✔️ Need something fun to do with the kids? ✔️ Need a proper good coffee and a cake ✔️ Want a place with all of the above in a beautiful setting with loads of accessible walking trails? ✔️ I love the place.
We love to go out for breakfast or brunch twice a month and had some lovely and not so lovely experiences. Darn you though Forage you have made us less adventurous and boring because in our view the breakfast is by far the best we have had in the UK. That it is in a beautiful setting and the staff are so friendly and professional makes it even more special. Instead of exploring now we simply eat at Forage. Keep up the awesomeness.
Absolutely amazing birthday breakfast for my dad. The food was phenomenal and the staff were friendly and really attentive. Never had a bad meal here. Highly recommended xx
Visited for the Christmas experience and it was honestly the best Christmas event we've ever been to! The little show was fab, food was lush, lovely activities.. all the staff were amazing! Definitely be back next year. Can't speak highly enough! Both myself and my 7 year old thought it was so a peice of festive magic! Thank you!
Mind: blown. That was truly epic Matt and his team are akin to Pep Guardiola on the treble season The food was outstanding, such a powerful burst of flavours & every dish looked so beautiful that you didn’t want to eat it (almost). The best turkey I’ve ever had by miles Wonderfully kind waiting staff who created a lovely atmosphere It made for a special evening If you’re thinking of going don’t think: go. You’ll thank yourself later 🪿
I'd been thinking of visiting for a while, then some friends told me about how much they enjoyed it and I booked in. Booking is recommended as they can be very busy. I was early and they were very accommodating, the staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. Lots of families about and very well behaved children, possibly because they were able to run off steam in the big play area outside. I still felt like we were having a grown up experience even with young families at the next table. I'm really looking forward to going back.
Just come from here after having a tasty breakfast. Haven’t been here for some time, & first time for my friend, but very nice indeed. Lovely, warming log fire to greet you! Table service was excellent by pleasant girls. Coffee good. Bread tasty. A little on the upper end of pricey, but would recommend. Only issue was there were x 2 dogs roaming around, not on leads, so a little disconcerting. I don’t mind dogs, but should be on leads in a restaurant.
Went on a Sunday before heading for the Santa experience. Even with reservations the table wasn't ready even with many tables open. Staff seem to be running around . There was a holiday set menu , however they were already out of Turkey at 2pm . Set menu has options of 2 or 3 courses (menus are available online for review). Food was good and plentiful but definitely on the pricier side . Kids menu is available and portion was substantial. Nice little farm to table restaurants but has some kinks to work out ,we were brought the wrong meal and staffing seems insufficient for the amount of running the staff are doing. Cute little farm store attached with lots of local products. Adorable farm playground for the kids.
Lovely location & everything nicely presented. Staff very friendly, food was good but we weren't wowed for the price. My friend, who had recommended the place based on a previous visit, was also disappointed so perhaps lacking consistency. I tried the Welsh Rarebit which was mostly bread & some slightly wilted salad leaves, she had the toasted Cajun chicken sandwich. Would try again in case it was an "off day" & allow more time to visit the shop.
Great local farm shop find on our way out of Wales. Food and drink choice were great with lots of hyperlocal produce. Lots of staff on the floor but could never get the attention of anyone as they were all gathered by the tills. Staff were polite but did not seem to have the right training. We were given an old menu so we ordered the lamb main and got given the lamb starter. If the staff member had noticed this when we ordered then it would have avoided the issue of the wrong dish being served. We then had to wait for a new main course for my husband which didn't come until after I'd finished my food. Staff could have managed this better and offered for both dishes to come out at the same time or for him to have the starter whilst he was waiting. Condiments were also not offered though they did have a good selection of Stokes sauces. Would definitely visit again though as the farm shop and outdoor area were nice too.
First visit here this afternoon - very busy and surprised that it's actually quite small! Lots of families with small children and looked like there was a nice play area outside. Lots of parking. A little pricey, but a decent range of snacks, cheese and things for pets. The butcher's was popular but we're vegetarian so can't comment beyond that! Pumpkins available at cheaper than you'd pay at a pumpkin patch. We'd heard a lot about this place but we're quite disappointed. I think if you visit at a quieter time and can pop into the cafe or have children who will enjoy the play park it's a better experience but we weren't here more than 10 minutes. Nearly gave it 3 stars but that didn't seem fair.
Nice time pumpkin picking, enjoyed the corn maze , tractor ride .plenty to do lot's going on . Toilets on site , food stalls, just be prepared for mud
Beautiful views. Not from the area but visiting family so took the kids to play in the park. Didn't try the food just had a hot drink.
The shop is much smaller than what I expected, stocking a bit of everything. Particularly pleased with my purchase of butter (I already sense not being able to go back to supermarket stuff) and crisps. Nice selection of soft drinks too
Not great. Very expensive and cranky staff. Very surprised that it's the best farm shop in South Wales. Maybe we went on a bad day for them.
Anti family especially with babies! My daughter went in 1st with pram & was turned away, they said they were FULL- lots empty tables. … I went on app & booked straight away! Seriously this was embarrassing for them, such poor service. … Then I was told I should book a table for 3 if bringing pram in - even though there is nothing on web site to state this. I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back. Went flower picking, difficult to gain entry as gate was locked, but plenty still available once inside. I was hoping for a better day 😢
I used to regularly come for takeaway coffee but now at £4.20 it's far too expensive for an average coffee. The mark up on coffee is already very high but this feels like a total rip off and I'll take my custom elsewhere from now on
First time visiting as I’d heard good things. Decided to sit outside and order from the Hatch a pizza.. We have been waiting an hour and still no pizzas. Really not that busy… no idea what is going on no one seems to be getting food very fast! Such a shame as it seems like a great place but don’t think I would return as the wait for a pizza is too long with kids in tow. The toilets were really dirty… water all over the floor and no toilet roll.
For the second year we took a group of nine people for Christmas lunch. Last year’s meal was very good. This year’s meal was completely different. The service was impersonal, the food okay, much less turkey (few thin slices) and beef (one small piece of rib beef) than last year, yet the price was increased. Most starters were good except the soup was cold. Deserts were good. Sadly, the door mechanism to the main door was faulty, which meant that the main door was left wide open on a cold, wet, and windy day - the whole restaurant became cold and draughty, which meant people had to put their coats on to keep warm. No apologies from anyone. Would I book Forage for a Christmas meal again - definitely not.
Very disappointed with the Christmas visit. We went as a family 6 adults and 3 children. The total cost was approximately £138. My wife is disabled and was on a mobility scooter. On arrival we went to go in the cafe but was denied access. The reason given they are very busy and if we don't want to eat we were not allowed in. What a disgusting way to treat a disabled person. We therefore had to look around but found there were plastic boards on the ground which were muddy and slippery in places. We managed to get to the top where the stalls were and there were only 3 food stalls. The prices were exorbitant £10 for a burger and £8.50 for a hot dog and over £4 for a coffee. Any family on a budget with children would struggle. The farm shop prices were very expensive over £6 for a tiny pack of biscuits. That's just one example as to many other's to mention. We then went into a tent where they were selling balloons in various types of animals. The children obviously wanted one.The cost £6.50 for a couple of plastic balloons tied together. The best part for the children was the visit to Santa and the children's show in another tent. Overall I feel that to charge an adult over £16 to accompany a child to see Santa when outside of the event you can visit the farm shop and cafe for free was excessive. From a disabled persons point of view with mobility issues and if using crutches I would not recommend visiting as the yellow plastic flooring was not the best to walk on. My wife had a mobility scooter so managed to get about but without we would have gone straight back home. We have visited many Christmas Santa events with our grandchildren in recent years and this one is not one I would return to.
Disappointing breakfast and service and Forage. This was our third visit and first for breakfast. Overall the service and food were a let down. We were given water full of ash from the fire and the waitress was more annoyed at the fire than apologetic to us. The large breakfast was greasy, with fat riddled bacon that was barely cooked. For £17 I was underwhelmed to say the least. I’d liken the quality to a breakfast buffet a hotel. Waiting staff were busy but never checked on us once. One thing that annoys me more than anything is not being asked how the food is during the meals and whilst paying. Sadly I’d think twice about visiting again
Avocado & Poached egg on toast.... Was wondering what the chunks of brown stuff was in the avocado, the waitress thought it may have been tomato, she went to check with the kitchen and explained to us that they hadn't mixed the tub properly and that was the brown that forms on avocado when its left out. So, the avocado is not fresh and comes from a tub. Cooked Breakfast... At almost £15 for 1 sausage and 2 bacon on a breakfast seems a bit over priced to me. Coffee was nice, as are the staff, but won't go again.
