Fantastic food. Will go again. Very posh experience. Loved it.
The food is brilliant and well cooked. The staff are friendly and talkative. There is a good menu and it is very popular for lunch on a Sunday so I would book a table well in advance. Very pleasant inside and there is an outside seated area which is great in the warm weather. In the autumn and winter when it is cold the fires are lit and the blankets are brought our for you. Highly recommended for sure for dinner when in Weston Super Mare.
Beautiful amazing food couldn’t have been better for a day date 🥰 the steaks are highly recommended! I’ve been converted to proper onion rings as well! Honestly just beautiful, special shoutout to Janis and Sean as well service was perfect making sure everything was perfect for us! Will be back again 10000000/10! Thank you both so much for making our day date extra special❤️
Very lovely meals good portions. Owned by Greek cooks boy they are good cooks. Music was too loud for eating and rock music for a Sunday evening. I did ask them to turn it down.
We visit this restaurant twice whilst on holiday, and wasn't disappointed one bit. First time we sat outside relaxing watching the world go by near the firepits, ordered pork chop roast potatoes and hallomi pitta greek salad. Inside the second time due to a heavy downpour, ordered the traditional fish and chip. The restaurant is tastefully done plenty of room in between tables, its spotlessly clean, the toilets we're immaculate. Staff are friendly and attentive checking everything is okay with the meal that was delicious on both occasions. Plus they make a great aperol spritz 🍹We would highly recommend this restaurant can't fault it one bit it ticks all the boxes .
First time in for the Father's day treat with the Sundays roast - we were really pleased with the quality of the food and the portion sizes. Very friendly staff, amazing atmosphere outside by the fire pit. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.
On a windswept Tuesday lunchtime, next to the inexpensive seafront carpark at Melrose, this mid price restaurant has a good menu of fish, Mediterranean, and British standard dishes. Service was excellent.
Had a wonderful meal with my mother and daughter the staff were incredible and attentive the food was also delicious and an incredible atmosphere and beautiful presentation Thank you ❤️
Great food, good price, nice atmosphere, on a nice evening try and book a seat In front of the fires outside the front!
This place is amazing. Was there a couple weeks ago, the food was amazing! Staff were great too and sitting by the fire outside, bonus!
Amazing experience! The grilled halloumi was delicious and the salad accompanying it was seasoned perfectly. The turkey Sunday roast was tender, juicy and there was a lot of meat, unlike many other places where they only give you a slice or two. The potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside. Beautiful location on the Weston promenade. Friendly waitresses! Will definitely be back!
Incredible. Service and food was fast. Sat by an outdoor fire eating amazing home made pate and I still don’t know what the catch of the day was but it was delicious. Well done chef and well done staff.
Great food, great service, a very quaint and unusual little gem right on the seafront. We will definitely be going again.
Staff were very friendly and polite. Served us quickly. It has lovely views from the outside seating area. It was decorated to a very high standard and was very clean. Dogs are allowed outside. Seating available both inside and outside. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely come back again
Amazing place, brilliant service & food out of this world. Lovely atmosphere eating outside. Would definitely recommend 10/10
Delicious food. Great service. Lovely place. Will definitely return
This was my first visit here with friends. We ordered starters and mains and all meals very tasty, presented beautifully. Steaks cooked to order. Staff very friendly and attentive. We all had very good experience here.
We just had a lovely brunch with a family at The Old Thatched Cottage. A very cosy atmosphere at the fireplace, super delicious food (especially king prawns!), and our host Julia exceptionally welcoming, friendly and professional advising on our choices ♡ Thank you so much for having us, we'll be definitely back ♡
Just walked in off the streets as it was close to my hotel and it was fabulous, I had the 3 course Sunday lunch and everything was spot on, the staff were very attentive but not in your face, good food, good wine and good music make for a really good £19.99 3 course lunch.
The oldest building on Weston Super Mare. What fabulous food, great ambience, lovely staff. A fantastic evening. The night before we sat outside and enjoyed a drink with the warmth of the firepit. Gorgeous. I had Lamb Kleftico which was beautiful and my husband had a fab Beef Bourbignon. Right on the front too.
Beautiful restaurant with a great seating area with Fire Pits! Staff very attentive & friendly. Great Cocktails. They do Gift Vouchers too which I bought as a special birthday present for family. Highly recommend!
Nice place with views of the beech. Food was an amazing and staff very friendly. A huge plus are the fire pit tables and a huge plus on cooler nights. We will certainly pass by again in the future.
Such a lovely time last night - both had steak. Really delicious, cooked to perfection! Really lovely cocktails and wine too. Baileys cheesecake was a big hit! The food came really quickly and the staff were lovely! Thank you so much Andie and team for a very special meal out!
Sat outside to enjoy the sea view and had the vegetarian platter for one with a side order of chips with parmesan and rosemary. Really lovely meal and took half away to have for supper! Staff are lovely. A great place for lunch - and dinner! Plenty of outdoor seating without being of top of other diners.
A great place , I'd highly recommend. Staff really made you feel welcome. Wonderful food . Definitely will return.
Ate here tonight with the extended family which meant more young kids than adults. Always a difficult meal out but staff were really friendly, attentive and patient. Food was excellent, we had a variety of starters and mains and all were polished off with a smile. Children's food was of the same quality as well, real chicken strips with a nice crisp coating and decent portion sizes. A good selection of drinks and desserts and the atmosphere was really good, a busy Wednesday night after a cool and sunny day. The outside seating with fires for warmth looked really good. Definitely worth a visit and the seafront makes for a nice walk before / after the meal or both.
🌊 Seaside Charm and Culinary Delight at The Thatched Cottage Positioned nicely on Weston-super-Mare seafront, The Thatched Cottage offers more than just a meal—it’s an experience wrapped in coastal charm and warm hospitality. We chose to sit outside, where the view of the sea framed our evening beautifully. The outdoor seating is dog-friendly, which made it all the more enjoyable for our four-legged companions. With table fire heaters casting a gentle glow, the atmosphere was cosy and relaxed—perfect for unwinding. 🍤 Starters: A Tale of Two Dishes We began with two seafood starters: prawns and calamari. The prawns, sautéed in butter, chilli, and lemon, were a standout—rich, zesty, and perfectly balanced. The calamari, while tasty, didn’t quite match the prawns’ excellence. The batter was more tempura-like but lacked crispness, and the squid itself was sliced a little thin. Still, the flavor held its own and paired nicely with the seaside breeze. 🐟 Main Course: Ling with a Zing For mains, we both opted for the Catch of the Day, which happened to be Ling—a lesser-known fish that turned out to be a delightful surprise. Grilled to perfection and served with a lemon caper butter, small boiled potatoes, and fresh broccoli, the dish was simple, elegant, and expertly executed. Each element complemented the other, letting the freshness of the ingredients shine. 🍓 Dessert: A Sweet Finale To finish, I indulged in the fresh strawberry Eton Mess, topped with Chantilly cream. It was everything you’d hope for in a summer dessert—light, fruity, and indulgent without being heavy. 🌟 Final Thoughts From the timely and friendly service to the great-tasting food and welcoming atmosphere, The Thatched Cottage delivered a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s a spot that combines seaside serenity with satisfying plates. Highly recommended for a relaxed meal with a view—and your dogs will thank you too.
Lovely food and efficient friendly service is what we experienced to the backdrop of a stunning WSM sunset warmed by the fire pits It didn’t need to be either. On a Sunday evening in July it was surprisingly the only open restaurant so our selection was limited, but despite this monopoly the experience was great. We will come back
Very good pub. Lots of seating inside and outside. I can recommend the fish & chips and steak. There is a very good choice of locally sourced food on the menu. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. I would dine here again when I visit Weston Super Mare.
We loved this place so much we came back the second day. Welcoming staff, delicious drinks, cocktails and the food was excellent value. Loved the fire pit tables which enabled us to enjoy sitting outside. Also dog friendly.
Absolutely lovely lunch. Great setting and delicious food.
We had a lovely Sunday dinner here for my Daughter's birthday. We all had a 3 course meal and all the food that came out was lovely. The service was really good and they were all friendly.
Great restaurant, lovely vibe and helpful staff. I’d like to especially thank the waiter who so kindly returned my phone!
Lovely place, staff very friendly and helpful. Accomodating and although very busy, quick service and great quality of food. Very Impressed.
Called in for a drink whilst visiting friends in WSM Such friendly staff very accommodating. We had already booked somewhere to eat in the evening. But the food that was being served looked amazing, so will definitely visit again next time I'm there from Cambridgeshire
Food soo delicious, staff professional and friendly, gorgeous venue and great location. Also very kind and accommodating helping us to change reservation due to illness. Definitely recommend and we'll be back for sure. What a find !
Just celebrated My birthday at this Beautiful restaurant. I can honestly say i could Not fault anything at all. The staff were wonderfully attentive & helpful. The food was amazing & plentiful. Would thoroughly recommend. Thank you to all staff , that made my birthday extra special this evening ❤️
Went for an early evening stroll up Weston's prom, and stopped at the old thatched cottage for a meal. My partner had chicken skewers with the greek salad... Whilst I had the good old kleftico lamb shank . Food was lovely however the service was a little slow, I can only put this down to the amount of people there on a lovely evening. We had a lovely view of the promenade and some nice ciders. We will return... Special mention to the salt seller... That was probably made from part of robocops helmet.
Holidaying at a nearby cottage, we stopped at this nice little pub for lunch, having been attracted by the look of the place as opposed to some of the flat-roofed, run-down places nearby and were happy with our choice. The outdoor tables come with firepits for when the weather isn't quite up to scratch. The cleanliness of the place was absolutely superb. Service was friendly and attentive, in fact we were offered drinks so quickly we hadn't all even had a chance to look at the drinks menu (no complaints there as the waitress happily came back a few minutes later... Though maybe a couple of menus between our group might have been better) We ordered our food and in a perfectly reasonable amount of time we had 4 very tasty meals. My steak was cooked exactly as requested and the chips were unbelievably good. The reason it's 4 and not 5 stars for me is that it only had one drink on tap, which was lager. I did have a nice bitter but it was a bit fizzy as it came from a bottle. However, the overall experience was totally enjoyable so I'd definitely return.
Good food and drinks. The chicken souvlaki was better than most of the places I’ve been. The service was a bit slow considering that it was quiet, the prices are a bit high but I think you pay for the location more than the food
Nice little pub on the sea front of Weston-super-Mare nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and outside, outside has under canopy seating with lovely hot fire pit which so warming and welcoming
Nice place but more of a foodie place. Only San Miguel on draught. Nicely decorated and the staff were friendly and polite. Great beer. Enjoyed my visit.
We’ve passed The Old Thatched Cottage a few times when visiting Weston and we always wanted to try it, today was that day! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always checking everything is ok and always happy to do anything you need! My other half is coeliac and they were able to confirm that they could do a Gluten Free roast with gravy, just no yorkshires - excellent! There were some issues with the kitchen today, but this couldn’t be helped and the staff were on top of it, keeping us updated etc. You’ll notice from the picture, my roasties were missing, but I mentioned it and they came straight out with some roasties for me! My only thing I’d say, that would have pushed another star for me was that there was no info on the menu as to what veg you get - this was cauliflower cheese and peas. Not being a fan of cauliflower cheese, I’d have preferred a third veg that I could’ve had; but it wasn’t a deal breaker as I was still fairly stuffed anyway in the end! Decent prices, clean, well styled venue and excellent views of the seafront - plus the tables outside have heaters built into them for when the temperature dips! Defo recommend this place, plus dogs are allowed outside, so a huge bonus! Thank you for having us!
Went for Sunday lunch today. A very polite and accommodating staff. For the standards of the local area, one would say the food was at the same quality/flavour range as other restaurants serving a standard roast. I had fish and chips which was also in par with the average area standard, so a reliable restaurant overall serving classic British food. The place seemed to be appreciated by people of a higher age range (60+) but there were also some young people around (like us 30+)
Lovely fire pit heated outside beer garden, lovely view of the sea and peir. Warm even in the middle of Jan. Great place to watch the sea and world go by.
Very nice building. The outside space is nice, with the fire pits to sit around. The staff are quite a young troop, and are friendly enough. The kitchen was particularly slow when we went there. The starters took about 40 mins to come out. Then an additional 25 mins for our mains. We also realised they were taking care of the couples better than the larger groups. We were a party of 6. And we saw at least two couples seated after us, and ate before us! The food was of a reasonable standard. I would give this place another go, as I think it has potential of being a really nice place to eat.
We visited today for a roast dinner, we found the service just a tad slow and a bit, flat? Our waitress was nice enough but just seemed robotic. Food came out and was warm, we were surprised when the veg was for four people. Nice portion of cauli cheese but cabbage was really only enough for 2 people. The icing on the cake was when my partner asked whether the stuffing had red onion, waitress responded yes think so. No worries we took it off onto another plate, then another chap comes over and says no it’s just normal onion. Oh, well we have already took it off the plate onto a friends, is it possible to just have another one? Yes but you’d need to pay extra. For an extra inch of stuffing? Wow. Ok Nevermind. Then the bill comes and there’s a 10% service charge. If you’re going to give me a service charge I expect the extra mile when you have the opportunity to. You didn’t do that. Would not return sadly, plenty other better roasts in the area.
We arrived early for our reservation so took advantage of the little outside bar area, this took 40 to be served a drink. The service unfortunately didn’t improve at dinner when we were seated the waitress was obviously having a bad day, she was short with her manner and really couldn’t care less. We placed our order and the first course was fine, when the main course arrived we had all ordered steak it was a big disappointment, T-Bones not cooked as asked and Rib eye steaks seemed more like braised steak, overcooked and tasteless. The manager was gracious and kind enough to remove two steaks from the bill, this is not a restaurant l am in a hurry to return.
Pints of cider were warm as they were poured out of a can which the staff walk through the establishment with as they had just brought a 4 pack from the shop. The steak was almost like eating a car tyre and the onion rings were dripping in grease
I came here on Saturday with my mum and her place. They did have any customers, and we ordered 3 small tapas plates and a burger. IT TOOK 40 minutes for the most basic order and the food was far away from WOW. overly expensive for the type of service and the food. I’ve worked as a waitress before and such a poor service in such an empty restaurant. Never asked us about more food or drinks, feels that you need to chase them, while all of them just polish one glass on the bar. Would never go again.
