Opinions de Ali Baba's Cafe Simi Valley
From the moment we walked into Ali Baba, we were transported into a vibrant world of rich flavors and authentic Mediterranean cuisine. This place delivers on both taste and quality — easily deserving a solid 4.5 stars. The platters are generous and thoughtfully assembled, with perfectly seasoned rice and fresh accompaniments that make every bite satisfying. The shawarma — both chicken and lamb — was juicy, tender, and spiced just right, offering that classic, mouthwatering Mediterranean kick that keeps you coming back for more. The lamb, especially, stood out with its rich flavor and tenderness, cooked beautifully and paired with Mediterranean staples like hummus, tahini, and crisp salad for a truly balanced meal. It’s easy to see the care that goes into each dish — from the smoky aromas of the grill to the bright, fresh garnishes that complete every plate. The variety on the menu means there’s something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for hearty meats, fresh salads, or flavorful sides like baba ghanouj and falafel. Service matches the quality of the food — friendly, attentive, and eager to make sure your experience is a great one. While a few menu items could be even more refined, the overall experience here is delightful. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu. Highly recommended for Mediterranean food lovers! 🍽️ Highlight Dishes: Lamb platter • Chicken shawarma • Mediterranean combos 👍 Vibe: Warm, flavorful, generous portions 🌟 Rating: 4.5/5
I had a really great experience at Alibaba in Simi Valley. The rice was absolutely amazing — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The lamb shawarma was fresh, tender, juicy, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in a long time. The portion was large and very satisfying. The smothered rice was also delicious, and the overall plate had that comforting, home-style feeling. I even tried the pancakes, and to my surprise they were very nice — something I haven’t had in ages. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the whole experience left a very positive impression on me. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be returning.
The food here is always so fresh and flavorful. The owner and staff are always so friendly and attentive. My family and I love coming here.
Really yummy. Ali Baba makes the best hummus and falafel. The hummus is velvety smooth. The falafel is consistently crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. They hit the mark every time. And the people are always super nice. Definitely worth a go.
We recently moved back from New York and were craving good Mediterranean food - shawarma, kufteh, falafel, baba ganoush, the whole nine. We found this restaurant and it had solid ratings so worth a try. It didn’t disappoint! We ordered the family meal for pickup - the food was fresh as hell, seasoned perfectly and portions were incredible. Everything was spot on and I would say better than a lot of fancy nyc restaurants. Chicken Shawarma = tender and tasty and well seasoned. Beef Kufteh = super flavorful and juicy Roasted Chicken = seasoned well and literally fell off the bone Falafel = perfection. Salad = fresh and flavorful Baba Ganoush = fave The staff was super friendly and on point with a lot of take out orders coming in due to the rain. Kudos to Chef O 🤘🏼🔥 We will be visiting again for family sit down dinner and take home a box of baklava ❤️ My pics don’t do the food justice and had to fend off the family to snap some pics before they ravaged the food 😳
They serve the homeless every Sunday at 12:00 for lunch they are very kind people and they even give me a little chicken for my dog and a little bowl of water this is all the food that I eat on the weekends because there's not really much else open around here so they are definitely part of my weekend schedule
We have been coming to Ali baba for years and the food is always delicious with generous portions, whether you dine in or do you take out. All of the servers and the owner are so kind and welcoming. our favorite dishes include the beef and chicken Shawarma, chicken kebab, Lamb burger and beef kufteh. When we have larger gatherings, we normally get the family combo for six and add a few additional entrées. Ali Baba is one of the best family owned restaurants in Simi and absolutely worth visiting and supporting!
Oct 2022 Yes, I will be back. Hidden Gem of the Simi Valley area! I have to say, the services quite top-notch. The owner, or was he the manager, was really helpful and deciding what to choose off the menu. It's a sit-down place but feels like a takeout place as well. Good atmosphere, delicious food. A buddy and I opted for the lamb, made two different ways. He opted for the lamb kebab, which was quite a hefty portion, and also a Mediterranean style salad. The salad was great, it's like a chopped iceberg lettuce, with some tomato, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, and some onion in the mix. Seasoned with oregano, olive oil come on a dash of vinegar, it's Tangy and refreshing all in one bite. The salad was huge, definitely a huge Bowl full. I got the sliced lamb plate, which also came with hummus and a salad. And some pita bread as well. It's like chipped beef, but lamb. Really tasty, quite flavorful. It's tangy, it's juicy, it's tender and moist. Since it comes with a few Pita breads, I made little mini Gyros, if that's what you want to call them. Spread some hummus in, put in some sliced lamb, and you're good to go. Service was great, both the waiter, and a person who I believe was either the owner or a manager came by to check up on us quite a few times over the course of 45 minutes or so. We took our time, and the outdoor seating was very pleasant this time of year. I think people who would really get the most out of this would be smaller families, and also Travelers passing through the area, like people riding their bicycles or motorcycles. It's definitely a place where you can hang out, enjoy some fresh air outside, or relax inside.
The interior of the restaurant is spacious and utilitarian in decor. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu has plenty to choose from and the portion sizes ensure you will not go home hungry. The lamb shawarma was tender and well-seasoned. It paired perfectly with the house made hummus and an order of the pickled stuffed baby eggplant.
Honestly, the Soltani was delicious — juicy and tender, and not burnt at all. It’s important to me that there’s no char or carbon, and this one was perfect. The environment was calm and clean, and the staff were very polite and friendly.
Highly recommend! We ordered lentil soup, stuffed salmon, lamb shaurma and mint tea - everything was perfect! Juicy, fresh, packed with flavor! Cozy, clean and pleasant ambiance and waitresses.
We went driving and just looked around town before craving Mediterranean food. We saw Ali Baba. It was our first time dining at this restaurant. We were immediately welcomed and chose our table. No one was there at the time. Sophie was our waitress and took our order. She was very friendly and attentive and made us feel comfortable. The food was very delicious. Our order went in. Around 5 other parties arrived and filled up the restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken breast sandwich. It is served on pita bread and stuffed with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and tahini sauce. She ordered the Lamb Shawarma Plate. It had thinly sliced lamb marinated in Baba’s sauce and then grilled perfectly. Lamb was paired with rice, hummus, and Baba’s Salad. One item that stood out the most was the hummus. It was delectable, with just enough heat not to overpower it. We dipped the pita bread and even my sandwich. Finally, we had the Harisa. It was a light honey coconut cake. It had a cornbread texture. It had a light crumble. The honey helped balance it out. I like the healthy meal choices with the exotic flavors. These foods are made from scratch. You can taste the quality, richness, and flavor. I knew that we made a great decision to dine here. From the entrance to us leaving, I say yes to being a returning customer. Thank you, Ali Baba Mediterranean!

Wow, what find. All by accident. I believe this is Persian food. I hope I got that right. Don't want to offend anyone. I ordered the mixed Kabob combo. Comes with steak. Beef. Chicken. Lamb. Salad. Vegies and rice. Oh bread too. It was the tastiest meal. Sheer comfort. Big. Really two people could share. I will have a snack later. Friendly staff and good service. I would and will go back. 4 or more could try more items and have a great meal. I highly recommend this place.
This is a great choice for lunch. It group came in hungry and left satisfied. The prices and portions are good. My only disappointment was that they didn't have any sumac, which is love on rice and meat. The turmeric tea is a must. Delicious!
My wife and I really enjoyed our lunch here. The food was amazing, really nice place, and the prices are more than fair. We'll definitely stop by when we get the chance again.
My new favorite restaurant! Portions were generous, service was above and beyond , food was absolutely delicious ! Live an hour away but will be back often!!
I love this great little Mediterranean restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. Its always clean, too. You can order take out, or dine in. They have ample seating. I think they do a pretty decent job of making you feel like you aren't eating in a strip mall in So. Cal. The staff is always warm and welcoming. I've gone with friends, and alone. The meals are always delicious enjoyable, and I can never finish my plate!
Ali Baba Restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone who loves authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food. The dishes are flavorful, freshly prepared, and served in generous portions. The lunch I had here was absolutely delicious—the kebabs were tender and juicy, the rice was aromatic and perfectly cooked, and the fresh salads and sides complemented everything beautifully. The service is just as impressive as the food. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. They make you feel at home, and their genuine hospitality really enhances the dining experience.
My FAVORITE resturaunt, I don't even live in CA anymore but any time I fly into town I need to have some Ali Baba's. My go-to is the beef shawarma plate. I don't know how they do it, but no other resturaunt compares to their FLAVORS. Even their yellow rice is perfection. The staff are always incredibly friendly. Simi is blessed to have this restaurant. Treat yourself to a baklava ❤️

They have THE best humus I've ever had, and the fries on the menu are a must (try them and you'll thank me later). I've done take out and sit in at the restaurant. The food holds really well when it's take out and when I sit in, sometimes the service can be a little slow but they are busy with orders so it's understandable. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is always friendly/welcoming. Parking is free and easy to access.
The food was excellent! Everything is made freshly here. The flavors are full and the meat is tender. Definitely one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I have been to.
It is a mystery why this restaurant has a 4.6 rating with 700 reviews. The atmosphere nor the food was 4.6 To the owner, please continue to learn, grow, evaluate and innovate. I suspect your gregarious nature gives you good standing within the community, which is great. It may be the community doesn't want to leave more constructive reviews. Maybe with some fresh changes your business could go up substantially!?

Very disappointing experience. I ordered the chicken breast kabob and specifically asked for it not spicy because it was for kids. It came so spicy that even I, as an adult, couldn’t eat it. Restaurants should be transparent if their chicken kabob includes red pepper or heavy black pepper — traditionally chicken kabob is not spicy at most places. We also ordered a beef plate, which looked completely different from the photos posted online. The meat was very chewy, overly spicy, and honestly not edible. Overall, the food quality was poor, the dishes didn’t match expectations, and the meal felt like a waste of money. Unfortunately, we won’t be ordering again.
