Food was great. Ordered the salmon and crispy chicken. Salmon was fresh and the chicken breast was really tender and juicy. Ordered apple pie as dessert (was great too), chef gave a complimentary ice cream dessert for the long waiting time. Service staff Camille was very attentive too. Overall awesome service and food!
Do like this restaurant, so does my 5 year old 👧 We ordered one brunch set and two entrees, I would say portion is generous and tastes are all good. Oven roasted tiger prawn is a bit spicy but still very nice, pork chop is tender. Coffee is also nice.
A lovely, unhurried dining experience overall. The food was pleasant and well prepared, the ambience serene and soothing, and the service impeccable. Particular kudos to the server who attended to my family’s table– she was warm, attentive, and helpful.
Exploring a new Kris+ dining place for the wifeys birthday. Loved the atmosphere and service provided. We had x2 set dinners and were satisfied with the yummy mains and sides. Would recommend although a tad pricey
We’ve been here a number of times but I think this is the first time I’m posting a review. Felt there has been improvement since our last visit here and it was a great dining experience. Service by Denzil (sorry if I didn’t get the name correctly) was fantastic as he was friendly, attentive and had plenty of initiative yet never overbearing. My wife commented to me that the gust of wind from the aircon was a bit too strong and next thing we knew, he got it adjusted without prompting. 👍 For starters, we ordered the warm shrimp salad which my wife loves. Quite pricey at $36 but there are four big prawns and it is a serving that is big enough for 2. I had the pork chop with smoked chili glaze and it was perfectly cooked as the pork was medium-well done and yet still moist inside. My wife enjoyed her sesame panko crusted salmon trout as well and we were pleased that the serving sizes were decent. Adding the crispy potatoes as a side on top of the complimentary bread, we were quite stuffed by the end and didn’t have space for desserts. We look forward to returning.
Celebrated our anniversary here, the crews were polite and attentive the food was great, ambience likewise. We had the cracking chicken, cheese burger with fries, sushi and sour pie with pistachio ice cream. The one that we both loved really much, was the pistachio ice cream. Was curious of the brand and was surprised to find out that the ice cream was made by their own pastry chef and only pre orders can be done. Anyway, we enjoyed ourselves and will be back again soon.
It's been a while since our last visit. The first time after we had a baby, we came to celebrate my birthday. Justin was taking care of us and his caring service has made our enjoyable experience truly elevated. Food-wise, wagyu and fire-cracking chicken are quite exceptional.
Didn't make reservations, so sat the bar. Shared a crab crustini and a spicy sausage n kale pizza. Both were delicious. Service was fast and attentive
I visited the restaurant to celebrate my friends’ birthday last Saturday, and it was a truly wonderful experience. I arrived early, before the restaurant opened, and the bartender was very welcoming, kindly offering me a glass of water while I waited. We also had a pleasant conversation, during which the bartender recommended the chocolate cake and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Once seated, Ling, our waitress, provided outstanding service throughout the evening. She gave thoughtful recommendations on several dishes, all of which were delicious and exceeded our expectations. The restaurant itself was beautifully presented, creating the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion.
Been here a couple of times and the food is always consistent. Atmosphere was nice and tables were well spaced out resulting in a comfortable and good dining experience. The main course of steak was a little too rich with the sauce for my liking but that's just me. Everything else was good. Service was also warm and friendly with our water glasses consistently topped up throughout the evening without asking. Recommended to try!
Excellence service and quality food. This is such a lovely place to dine and definitely will return to try the rest of the food.
The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar delivered a lovely dinner experience. The Sesame Panko Crusted Salmon Trout was beautifully cooked with a crisp exterior and a well-balanced citrus tahini emulsion, while the Crab Crostini with garlic aioli and avocado was fresh and indulgent without being heavy. The ambience is elegant and romantic—perfect for a date night—though the dim lighting isn’t ideal for photos. Service was warm, attentive, and truly elevated the overall experience.
First time at the Dempsey cookhouse. My boy & nephew hosted extended family for lunch. Their first treat after they started working. Had a really enjoyable time. The service is great. Simply love this place. We will be back.
Haven’t been here for a while. Booked it spontaneously. Good food, attentive service with a beautifully decorated space. The dinner set is of good value. The lamb was so good. Every dish is good.
The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and polite. The set lunch menu offered good selection of dishes and they were all tasty. The portions were relatively huge for set menu, and we were too full to eat the desserts and have to pack them for take away.
Had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. Nice ambience, great service. Food was excellent! Ordered the set dinner and everything was great! Felt that the grilled octopus was a little charred on its sides, and the lamb chop was missing a dipping sauce. Seared wagyu beef tenderloin was soft and succulent, what amazed me was the broccoli topped with pistachio crumbs. Never knew it was so compatible! Dessert was excellent, enjoyed the warm chocolate cake very much.
Really lovely place and the food is excellent. Highly recommended. I like the fried chicken dish on the entrees and the brussel sprouts side.
Celebrated our 1 month anniversary. The environment and vibe is perfect for such a happy occasion. The staff were helpful, professional and polite. We were given top notch service. Food was awesome from appetizers to dessert. Highly recommended to give a try if you are nearby with your other half.
Been eating in here quite some time but never seen Momo aka Mohan before so we ask him for some recommendation. He recommended great food for us except the wagyu (which we chose to try ourselves) was alittle too hard and over cooked. The rest of the food was good. We will definitely be back again as the team were well-mannered and great service and experience.
Had a lovely time celebrating our wedding anniversary as well as my husband's birthday in advance. Food was good and ambience at the restaurant was excellent. The service from our server Denzel was fabulous as he was attentive and very friendly throughout our meal. Will certainly be back again!
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. Our server, Yum, deserves a special mention for her attentive and considerate service. She was always there at just the right moment, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. The sommelier also added greatly to our experience, with her friendly demeanor and expert knowledge enhancing our enjoyment of the meal. Speaking of the meal, the food was superb. Each dish was a delightful experience in itself, combining exquisite taste with visually appealing presentation. It's clear that your chefs are not just cooks, but true artists in their craft. This wonderful combination of outstanding service and culinary excellence made our night truly special. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Had a great meal with my husband for wedding anniversary! Service is great too! Will definitely return again.
We decided to try our luck. Turned up without a reservation on Sunday around noon. They offered us a very nice quiet corner at the bar counter. The building with soaring ceilings was amazing. Consider the history of the place. The service was friendly and discrete. We saw our food sitting on the counter for a while after coming out of the kitchen because the server was busy with other customers -forgivable. The warm prawn salad was lovely. Fresh ingredients with a tasty dressing. The lamb chops we well done and tasty. Warm chocolate cake for dessert did not disappoint with a nice melted centre and sight crispy edges in the cake. My wife and I had a lovely quiet lunch even though the rest of the restaurant was busy. A definite return spot.
The Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar is a western restaurant in the Dempsey area with Asian inspiration in some of the dishes. The service from all staff is attentive and friendly. All staff are happy to help and happy to accommodate to your needs at any time. The atmosphere is modern with a good vibe. Food was delicious with a huge variety of options including the fontina truffle pizza which was my favourite.
Amazing venue for all dining types. Jaqueline, Vincent and team took care of our business lunch, ensuring that all food and requests came on time and are attended to. From starters to mains to deserts, all dishes were amazing and there everyone at their table loved their food. Huge shout out again to the team for being flexible and handling to our needs during the entire meal.
Book a private room pretty last minute and was accommodated with minimum spent. Was given time to decorate the room. Turn out really pretty and nice for my celebration. Champagne special was just right for my occasion! Open three bottles!
I was seated at the bar as I didn't make any reservations on a Sunday afternoon. Portions were huge and the kale & broccoli salad blew me away with the presentation and taste. Bill came up to $80+ as I ordered the 3 set course meal but it was worth it as the servers even changed my cutlery upon change of food and there was free flow tap water and bread. The bread went well with olive oil. Overall highly recommended if you are in the area.
Super good service, took care of our dietary restrictions, the waiter servicing us was really careful, letting us know which foods we choose has gluten and dairy in them and even helping us to remove the crust from the fish as it has gluten. They even serve gluten free bread that tasted great! Amazing good, great tasting. The octopus and prawns I had was done just right, tender and juicy. I will definitely visit again to try out the other foods on the menu!
mohan was very knowledgeable, patient and professional in handling our big dining group of 14 people. everyone had many praises for the food and ambience. we had an amazing time at dempsey cookhouse :)
Was a really enjoyable night! Staff is very welcoming and attentive. My favorite was the crispy salmon 😋 everything was great and the crusted chicken parm was a huge portion and great value 👍 they also gave a red velvet cake for the birthday celebration we had which was delicious too 😋. Definitely want to come back soon and highly recommend.
We received an exceptional service! Especially from Denzel. The food was delicious, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Our experience was truly delightful, and we can't wait to come back. Keep up the great work!
Great Service and Food! I had Alfresco Brunch today as I failed to book a place in the main dining area that is air-conditioned. The Alfresco dining area have a few tables and had ceiling fans cooling the area. It wasn’t too hot per se as we have occasional breeze blowing by and the garden like view and tranquility more than compensated for the slight heat. The Brunch Set Menu offers a good variety of choice from pasta to meat and the serving is good! I would definitely come back again for another brunch session!
🥀We had an amazing Valentine’s lunch date at @thedempseycookhouseandbar. I love the ambiance and romantic setup of their tables. The staff is very attentive and helpful as well. We will definitely come back to try more of their delicious dishes.
Loved the al fresco seating - it was cool, well ventilated and beautiful with fairy lights. Food and wine were excellent - the Simply Cooked dishes are a revelation, sides were delicious. Service was professional and discreet
We had our wedding lunch at Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar, and it was truly everything we hoped for and more. The ambience was warm, stylish, and perfect for a celebratory afternoon with our loved ones. The food was absolutely delicious — our guests had nothing but compliments, and we personally loved how well-balanced and beautifully presented every dish was. A very special shoutout goes to May and Rianne, our wedding coordinators, who made the entire journey such a joy. They were not only professional and reliable but also so much fun and delightful to work with. From the planning process to the actual day, they accommodated many of our requests with grace and creativity, and on the wedding day itself, they ran everything seamlessly so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We truly had a blast and felt so well taken care of by the entire team. Thank you, Dempsey Cookhouse and Bar, for giving us such a memorable and stress-free wedding lunch. We highly recommend this venue to any couple looking for a mix of excellent food, great service, and a beautiful setting.
8/10. Got quite a few meals so I’ll just write what I liked and disliked. Liked: • The Crispy Salmon Sushi was great, with the crispy fried exterior of the rice but still chewy and soft interior. The Chipotle mayo gave some tanginess and the salmon had no off-smell. • The Pepper Crusted Wagyu Beef Tenderlion was very well-cooked. Despite it being a thick cut, it was still extremely tender. The pepper crust gave it nice texture and the sauce complemented the beef well. The carrots were well-cooked too and were sweet to balance the richness of the beef. However, the beef was not very juicy. Disliked: • The Fried Crackling Chicken uses a half chicken so you’ll get both breast and thigh meat. While the thigh meat was tender, the breast was not as tender and formed a hard skin from the fry. Both meats weren’t that juicy as well. That said, I really enjoyed the Buttery Hot Sauce and spinach that came with it, it really helped with the richness of the dish and the spinach gave much-needed freshness. • I think presentation could have also been better. • Atmosphere is also not that great. Because the building is shared with 2 other restaurants, it lacks a sense of identity. Those looking for a quiet experience may also not receive one as it can get quite loud due to the poor acoustics.
We had our daughter’s 26th birthday here. It’s a very nice location though it can get very loud due to the high ceilings which amplify the sound. Service was very attentive too, food was very good (I had the Tiger prawns which were really super delicious).
Went to a restaurant at Dempsey Hill to celebrate our anniversary, and I must say, the service was exceptional. The staff made us feel very welcomed, and their attention to detail really stood out. The interior design of the restaurant was very aesthetic—clean, modern, and with a cozy yet elegant vibe. It definitely added to the overall experience. The drinks were also great, with a good variety to choose from. However, when it came to the food, I was a bit let down. While it was decent, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations I had for a special occasion. The flavors were fine, but nothing particularly impressive or memorable. It was a good meal, but not extraordinary for the price paid. Overall, the atmosphere and service were fantastic, and it was a great place to celebrate our anniversary, but the food didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
Food was nice but quite pricey. Same for the wine list. Prawns were perfectly grilled, but the lamb chops were a bit cold when served. The service here is quite top-notch, very welcoming and super attentive. The setting is quite stunning. Would come back again.
Could’ve been excellent..but.. Dined in with management team 9persons altogether. Let’s start with good stuffs: Restaurant’s Aesthetics were beautiful, set up, ambience the overall feel was elevated. Especially the bar and ceiling. There was a negroni promotion on that day, which I must say was okay to have. Good Wine varieties.. —— Some of the miss… and let down.. I’ll have to start of with the host that day: Not friendly, not accommodating… a let down with first impression. Service took over and it was not great at the beginning, we were attended by multiple people but only the lady whom presented the food was cheerful enough to interact with the guests. Food: hits and miss We had crudo/s, pasta, pizza, entrees and grilled items: Pizza and Steaks were good. Stand out dishes were the prawn with chilli butter and shoestrings potatoes, steak tartare and grilled octopus. Overall good experience because of the company of friends but we’ll have to think twice if we’re going back.
Spacious & cozy restaurant good for group dinners. We had a good time catching up over good food, wines & cocktails, The grilled tiger prawn I ordered was fresh, succulent with natural smokey flavour. The crackling chicken & angel hair that my friends ordered were superb too. Service was good & we had a good time !🕰️
The delicious food, good service, in addition to a chill and comfortable ambience resulted in a terrific dining experience. The main courses of grilled lamb chops and tagliatelle were sumptuous. The jazz session by Jeremy Monteiro was simply the icing on the cake.
It's unfortunate that there's the Dempsey premium charged. Prices are high, didn't quite like the food quality as much, and the service was a little underwhelming. We ordered a few dishes for sharing, including the crackling chicken, wood fired tiger prawns, avocado pizza, and their kale salad. Got the warm chocolate cake, and the passion fruit flower for desserts. Overall the dishes were good, but lacked an overall punch. They somehow do not talk to each other, and really felt like I was at a cookhouse (without the price point of actually being a cookhouse).
The place is so beautiful and well done. The staff is polite and very efficient. I went for lunch and spoke to a friend for 20mins and the staff waited patiently for us to order. We got two salads and dey were delicious. I am looking forward to go again and have more things from d menu.
Food is ok, not that special at all…first time to dine in on this place. For the appetizer, we tried the tuna tartare which is a new taste to my palate, which I liked 4/5. Tomato Pizza is 3/5 , the basil pesto pasta 3/5. The dessert was 4/5. Tried 3 different desserts. Salted caramel ice cream, banana caramel tart and the cinnamon apple pie. My friends and I really enjoyed that part. Ambience plus the service is superb.
My wife and I finally had lunch at this place. The name Cookhouse evokes memories of the cookhouse in the army camps, given that this was formerly a military camp. But the interiors and foods are nothing like a typical army cookhouse. It is bright and airy with beautiful decorations. Customer service is good save for a very rude staff at the entrance attending to enquiries. She was curt. We sat at the Bar Counter and the service staff Francis is an awesome guy. He is attentive and helpful. More so, he has an interesting story to share about his experience during the Boxing Day Tsunami. We ordered the angel hair pasta with chili and kale. My wife ordered the avocado on toast. The pasta is a tad to salty. The avocado on toast is excellent. We will probably be back again to test out the menu. Hopefully we will not have to face the rude staff at the front desk.
I came here a few months back. If you prefer personal space, I highly recommend the outdoor seating. The overall service was mediocre compared to other restaurant experiences I've had, there's room for improvement. An additional advantage was that the reservation process ranked among the simpler ones, owing to the straightforward nature of its steps.
Ordered 5 main courses and 2 appetisers. Mains were great - forgot to take pictures of the other mains aside from the truffle and fontina cheese pizza. The burrata citrus salad is a disappointment (see picture) - the amount of rocket leaves is a joke for the price $38++ and the burrata wasn’t the best. The crispy salmon sushi is just smoked salmon on top of rice that they fried (?) to make it crispy. Interesting texture but at $22++ expected a bit more in terms of flavour.
The restaurant had a nice ambience and while food was ok, it did not match up to the decor of the place. Our favourite dish was certainly the pesto which had plenty of nuts in it. Portions were generous for most dishes. Staff was attentive and friendly but the they sometimes forgot requests. Overall a great place to hangout at with friends.
We dined in on a Sunday noon and the crowd wasn't huge. The dining atmosphere was great nevertheless. The food is a hit or miss, some dishes are good but some are not impressive. We like the sea trout, but not so much about the truffle pizza. Also, they provide free flow water if you do not want to order any still or sparkling water.
