Definitely the best fish and chips I've ever had fron SoCal to Canada, extra flaky, crisp, non greasy crunchy outside and hearty, thick and light, refreshing fish inside. 10/10. Also the cod tacos were the perfect 2 d dish as we share plates. Light refreshing yet hardy, flaky pulled apart cod filled taco. Great size serving. Fries were also perfection for crispy thin cut krinckel cut.
Went on a day trip up the coast from San Francisco, stopped at many places by Ocean Cove Bar & Grill has a very inviting atmosphere and you get a great view of the ocean, a nice dining area and a fantastic set up with the bar and the view of the ocean behind it. The staff was incredibly welcoming.
Cheerful atmosphere with decent affordable food offerings! Salsa, warm bread, and local oysters were our favorite. The fried seafood was good but a tad on the greasy side, overcooked, and a little bland. It was still tasty when steaming hot out of the kitchen with salt and malt vinegar. The snapped was okay, just a bit overcooked, but the side veggies were good. The bar side got a little loud, but a small group was playing pool
Stopped by for a bite on a road trip down Highway 1 and was very pleasantly surprised. Fish and chips were done perfectly, batter was crispy and well seasoned, the tartar aioli was amazing and they even had malt vinegar for those who want it on their fish. They had a salmon special available to substitute for the cod and it was so perfectly rich and soft. Their calamari was the best I've ever had hands down. No skinny little skimpy squid here, these calamari chunks were solid squid pieces coated in the same perfect crispy beer batter as the fish. 10/10 would recommend
What a view! Great spot to have lunch or dinner. Onion rings were very satisfying and the fish and chips were delicious. I’m a sucker for good fried food and they did not disappoint.
This place is a gem! The hostess was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a glass of wine after a long day of exploring and my boyfriend was raving after having one of the local draft beers. We look forward to visiting again!!
Stopped in for lunch after driving for about twenty minutes along the coast looking for food (and cell signal, but we never really did find that 😅) and was VERY pleasantly surprised! Their menu is small, but the items on it were cooked with skill. I was able to eat a gluten-free meal (I had the cod tacos) and it was delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the classic hamburger, and the garlic on the garlic fries was cooked *perfectly*. Masks are a requirement, and the staff was really good about keeping everything clean. I was impressed and would recommend!
We enjoyed some excellent calamari and GREAT salads out on the deck overlooking the ocean.
We popped in our way home to have dinner and a drink. The service is great, food is reasonably priced, and the view is fantastic! We come by when we can, as it is an hour from where we live, but I just found out they are now doing music on the weekends - which is really fun! My only complaint is the plastic utensils, I'm wondering if they don't have a dishwasher? Luckily we had Prawns and fries, so didn't really need utensils.
The service was friendly, helpful, and quick. The food was well-made, and they offered a good variety of seafood and non-seafood dishes. I ordered a chicken burger with avocado, and my husband had the fish and chips. The fries were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed a lovely view of the ocean while we ate.
Visited in 2015 during a road trip. It’s the BEST FISH&CHIPS, BEST CALAMARI that I ever had. I still dream about it… plus the owner was really nice, we played the guitar! A very memorable experience
Food is decent, not good not bad. Stopped by for lunch, the service was excellent and the bartender waiting for us was veyr kind. Prices are on the higher side for a burger and fries type place, $20 for any sandwich with fries. Skip the cheese steak, the fish and chips and spicy chicken sandwich were good. Worth it for the view!
Best fish and chips and best fish tacos I’ve ever had. And I’ve been to Ireland before! Super nice staff too
Great food, pretty typical coastal cuisine, friendly staff, even let me buy bread bowls for my own Payaya we made at Ocean Cove campsite
Scratch made solid brewpub type offerings. Calamari, fish tacos and Po’boy was definitely on point. Burgers and chili cheese fries hit the mark with the teens…drinks were very reasonable and the bar and wine selection were excellent! Stop and enjoy.
This place is great! Amazing view (if it's not foggy). Great food and beer. The clam chowder in the bread bowl is a real classic. The fish and chips were some of the best we have ever had!! Perfect breading that stayed on the fish even when cut, and the slice of fish was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection! A must stop for a trip up the coast, or stay in the lodge and eat there lots!
Great food. Clam chowder in a bread bowl is a must. The burgers and the fish & chips are excellent. The ribs are also a must.
Amazing view and nice place! Coconut prawns were amazing

Excellent food, great view of the water, plenty of seating inside, accessible parking, friendly staff! A bit pricey but worth it, cute hidden gem

Fish and chips done perfectly, quality fish perfect crunch. My friend had a wrap was big and fresh he loved it. Clams mussels app was delicious though could have use some toasted sour dough to mop up the juice. Beautiful views glad we stopped!
We came in late and they still served us. We had the spicy chicken sandwich and I would have left a 5 star review just because they served us so late. Now I'm leaving a 5 star review because it was objectively a delicious sandwich and fries... not too greasy. Would absolutely recommend!

This was a cute spot. The guy that served us was pretty nice. Definitely a limited menu. The fish options my cousins chose looked quite nice which made sense for the area. The ribs on the other hand tasted like they either boiled them or they came from an instant pot. The coleslaw was not the tastiest either. That is my personal opinion. They do have a mostly full bar and you couldn't beat that view for sure.
Good seafood and a nice view. Worth a stop on your way to or from Sea Ranch/Mendicino
Friendly, fast service, nice views and a decent Fish and Chips! Only complaint…, Bidenomics has made this once affordable eatery unaffordable. Expect to spend $30 per person for fast food here these days.
What a view from the patio! The service (sat. 3/29) was great. Burger and fish tacos were good. Calamari was kinda weird, very heavily breaded and not very obviously squid. Was well worth it to sit there with some cider and watch the dolphin/whale(?) blow spouts in the cove
We wanted to have a nice dinner and decided to try this place out. We had the clam chowder and it was delicious, creamy and had lots of flavor. We would order again. Also I ordered the New York steak medium rare and it was flavorful and cooked as requested. The service was great, the location was clean and has great views of the ocean depending on where you sit. We would definitely go back again.
Perfect spot to catch the sunset at dinner. Their patio is perfectly set to have a beautiful ocean view as you’re enjoying dinner. Not a ton on the menu but enough to choose from. You do have to pay before you eat/drink, and then seat yourself. Food was just ok. We had the cod tacos and chili bowl. It’s conveniently located across from a camping site, so it worked out perfect.
A nice spot to stop for a bite and a drink on your travels. We enjoyed a later lunch, yummy well sized portions for the coast. Very nice burger for me and fish and chips for my husband. Super friendly guy who seemed go be doing it all!

So convent if staying in the Ocean Cove Lodge. Most affordable restaurant on this part of the coast. Remember, you’re remote, be kind! Options were pretty good, we had a burger, Caesar salad, cod tacos and quesadilla. Everyone was pretty happy! Cod was fresh and grilled. Burger juicy. Took lava cake to go and microwaved in our room, kids enjoyed it! Deck with view is an added plus, also has pool table in the back room.

I want to give a better review I really do, but everything fried was overcooked. The fries, the onion rings, the fried fish, everything fried was overcooked. It's a shame because the actual fish used was fantastic. We ended up taking the breading off the fish completely and eating it plain. The quality of fish is fantastic for sure, and the people working there are very nice
We had lunch at the Ocean Cove Bar and Grill on a weekday in June, 2023. We stumbled across the restaurant as they were one of the very few restaurants on a large stretch of the road. So we pulled in to give them a try. This was three days in a row with lunches at places with great views. Although the Ocean Cove did have a nice view. It was our least favorite of the three lunches. But I want to be clear, it had a very nice view. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately told that paper menus were on the side. It was a small menu. We were told that we must order and pay for your food in advance then sit and wait for it to be cooked. It reminded me of using a kiosk at McDonalds that we just did for breakfast a day or so ago. It already gave this seemingly nice restaurant a really cheap feel. So we order and then pay. Of course I paid with a credit card, to conserve cash. But now I get the slip asking for a tip before I even sit down. This gives me an uncomfortable feeling. Do I, or how much do I tip for basically a McDonalds style dining experience with a nice view? If I don't tip, do I now have to worry about possible retaliation by an employee that may feel cheated? To me, it feels like extortion in a nice way. So after paying up, and having a seat, our food comes out. I will say that the employee who runs the register and brought out our food was very friendly. Maybe because he was already tipped? But I would like to think that he was just a genuinely friendly person. We both ordered seafood and chips. She ordered Prawns and chips. I went with fish and chips. Both of us felt the food had little flavor. You could cover it up with a sauce or such. But if you tasted it plain, it had little flavor. Normally fried food has a decent flavor from the grease it's cooked in. Thankfully we loaded up the fries with salt and pepper. So we had the two lunch baskets, and two cokes. With a tip, it cost me almost $60 for this dining experience. I will say that we didn't feel that the food was anywhere worth the price we paid. Honestly I think McDonalds would have tasted better. And I'm not a fan of McDonalds either. I understand we probably paid a higher price because of limited options. And as I said, it had a nice view. But we were not overly hungry, but it was getting late. So we had this lunch as to not mess up dinner later. We both wish we would have just waited and not basically wasted $60.

We recently visited the restaurant and while we enjoyed the ambiance, the customer service could have been better. That said, we are very optimistic about the changes that are coming under the new management. Max, who we spoke with, assured us that customer service will improve with the proper training that the new team will receive. We look forward to seeing the positive changes on our next visit.
Upon entering, you place your order at front counter & then seat yourself, either inside or outside. Mid-afternoon on a Sunday & place was very quiet, with only one other table having customers. I would offer, the location does have a nice ocean view. Ordered the Cod Po-Boy & a cup of the Clam Chowder. Don't know whether a lot of dine-and-dash occurs in this area, but found it odd to pay upfront. As I was interested in a mixed drink, also needed to order / pay at the same time rather than at the bar. Total for a sandwich, cup & well drink was almost $45 - way too rich for my blood. Obviously the locals know of other places to eat. Chose to sit at the bar & when food was brought out, found it to be fairly bland & nothing special. Certainly nothing to write home about. In travelling about the area over the course of a several days, found other places to eat that were more appealing. I guess you're just expected to pay for the view.

Stopped in at 7:10pm and was refused service but they close at 8:00pm. Said they had a busy day and didn’t want to stay open any longer. They had 4 tables they were still serving and we passed several places just to eat here based on reviews and menu. Not enough time to go back to one of the other restaurants. No option left but to drive on to Gaulala and buy sandwich making products. If you set your time to close you should go by it, not how you feel.
Place went downhill! Ordered a bloody Mary ALL ice in daiquiri glass with a weak pour of vodka and no worchestshire or garnish...stupid. Ordered 3 fish tacos for $18. Weak portions drowned in sauce on street taco tortillas served room temp in a plastic basket...double stupid never stop there again
The portion sizes and food quality at this restaurant are below average. You have no choice in how you want your burger cooked. The special; fish and chips, comes with just 2 pieces. The coleslaw salad and the calamari is not worth trying.

Charged for an extra 1 oz of tartar sauce. Never returning. Service was fine until payment. For being cheap and charging me $1, for what every other restaurant provides gratis, they lost a return customer. Not smart business. They think all of their customers are one time tourists so they treat them this way. But we have family in the area and have spent a lot of time here.
