Opinions de El Molino Central Sonoma
I have a full-blown obsession with El Molino Central, the fact that it's Michelin-recognized only validates what I already knew. Ever since I discovered the Fairmont Spa through ResortPass, this has become my perfect ritual: spa day, then lunch here, then a second stop before heading home to stock up on their ready-made items. If you book the happy hour pass at the spa, come here for lunch. The homemade chips and guac are non-negotiable. The verde chicken enchiladas are generous enough to feed at least two people. And the seasonal chile relleno? Will have you thinking you'd never want another chile relleno ever again... that beef-and-pork mix, with the sauce, and fresh pomegranate. Our obsession has reached the point where my boyfriend literally Zelle's me in advance to make sure I bring home a full haul from the refrigerated case--tamales, enchiladas, chile relleno, guac, dips, chips, fresh tortillas, beans, desserts... It's dangerous in the best way. Pro tip: If there's something specific you want, pay for it earlier in the day and pick it up later to guarantee it doesn't sell out. And if you have room (make some!), don't skip the soft serve. The portion is huge, easily shareable, and the perfect sweet ending. NOTE: They pop up at the SF Saturday Ferry Building Farmers Market, look for the LONG LINE. This is my favorite fast casual, order at the counter, quality ingredients, BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!
Im in shock right now at how insanely good this was. It came recommended from a local but it somehow exceeded my already high expectations. Perfectly seasoned not so much as a grain of salt too much or too little. A squeeze of lime too much or too little. Scientific perfection. Best beans i ever had, best tortilla chips i ever had, up there with the best salsas i ever had. Im in shock Got huevos rancheros (usually my go to for mex breakfast) and red chilaquiles (wish i had more of them😍😍) Red chilaquiles were unreal those chips are so outstanding the crunch the way they absorb sauce the oil level like everything was dumbfounding. An excellent huevos rancheros. Hidden under that sauce and those perfectly poached eggs are thick blue corn masas. So so good. And mind you THIS WAS TAKEOUT. I cant imagine eating in person omfggggg im in love.
We had an amazing dinner here. Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We ordered pork tamales and Dungeness crab tostadas. Both were amazing!
The food and service at El Molino Central was incredible! We each got the enchilada and fish taco and couldn’t finish it. We will definitely visit again!
Had excellent chicken suiza enchiladas with refried black beans with a little cotija cheese, sour cream, cheese and spicy pickles (carrot, cauliflower and jalapeño). Absolutely loved it! We ate outside at a picnic table by the parking lot. Great Mexican food at very affordable prices. Special shout out to their excellent salsa. Note about service: we ordered 2 orders of the enchiladas right after each other and the second order took an additional 15 min. Not sure why that happened.
The VERY BEST pork tamales and fish tacos we’ve ever had anywhere! Casual outdoor seating was heated and comfy. This will always be our go-to Mexican restaurant when in the Sonoma area.
My go to for breakfast is Huevos Rancheros and I think these were the best I’ve ever had. Poached, two types of sauce, two homemade blue masa tortilla/sopas, half an avocado and what I’d call a cooked version of pickled peppers and carrots that was phenomenal. My wife had chilaquiles verde and I wish she’d shared a little more. This food was so good! Nice big seating area - picnic tables, not fancy - and quick service.
Increíble. The moment those beautiful pastels come into view, just surrender — you’re in trusted hands. As the saying goes, presence is rarer than brilliance. Sí, you’ll have a dining audience as you negotiate a ballet of 12-point gravel turns into an impossible parking space — assuming you’re lucky enough to land one. And sí, the prices sit confidently near the top. Yet, do not let the California street-taco culture you’re accustomed to obscure the truth: Mexican cuisine belongs firmly in the realm of elevated dining, and here it carries a poise that feels unmistakably Michelin. Arrive without a rush. Match the easy rhythm of the valley. Feel the warmth from the kitchen as you pass through to your table. Soak in the sounds, the authenticity of the neighborhood, the trios of palm trees across the street offering you a slow wave. And by God, when the plate is set before you, allow your taste buds to dance. Presence is rarer than brilliance. Fortunately, at El Molino, you’re offered both. All you have to do is simply allow it.
This has to be some of the most authentic and delicious Mexican food in the greater Bay Area region. They constantly change the menu and incorporate ingredients from local farms they have partnerships with. This is a casual spot and not a full-service restaurant - order inside, they’ll bring it to you outside. The focus is the food: the birria tacos are the best I’ve ever had; the crispy fish tacos are probably the best outside of San Diego / Ensenada; the red chile pork tamales to go are 10/10. They of course make the tortillas on site. This place is an absolute gem.
Super fresh, incredible seasonal ingredients. Food is absolutely fire! Everything is done with absolute quality! Service was friendly but it’s mainly they drop the food off for you. Everything is self serve which is fine. What a gem. Will be back for sure. Chili Relleno was a highlight. Finish with soft serve!
This is the type of spot where no matter what you get will be one of the best meals you have had in a while. Everything's here is so well balanced and not over flavored while just have a subtleness of you can't stop eating. This place is the definition of if you do the simple things well when they come together they can make a great dish. (Some of the best beans I have had) Small store front for ordering but plenty of seating in the back (courtyard tables with awning). Parking can be a little tight if busy. Overall a place that gets a ton of hype but 100% justified.
Great Hole in the Wall place you would not give a second thought to go to passing by. Parking is a challenge! Seating is outside on Picnic tables, order inside and food is brought out to you. BUT it is a Michelin RATED restaurant! And the food bears that out. All 4 of us loved what we ordered! Do NOT miss this place if you are in the area.
This place is an absolute must go!!! 🙌 The food is incredible. They use locally sourced fresh ingredients and you can really tell. The black beans have a great semi spicy flavor. We had chicken tacos, sopas, guacamole and chips. The outdoor eating area was clean and inviting. We visited on a beautiful summer evening. It was busy but food was served quickly. We will be back for sure! 🫶
Amazing handmade tortillas. Ordered the fish tacos which were huge and had generous servings of fish, and the mole chicken enchiladas which were stuffed full of juicy chicken. The mole was a little too sweet for me, but I’d come back. Enchiladas suisses were exactly what you’d think — super cheesy and comforting. Next time I’d really want to order the Al pastor tacos and the butternut squash and a tamale. And chips and guac. Great value for the quality and flavor of the food, especially in this area. If you come on a Saturday, theres still a line at 3, but at 4 there was no line. Parking is indeed difficult even for someone used to parking in a city with scant street parking, but there’s a sign that says you can park by Parsons. They have one bathroom in the kitchen.
This Mexican restaurant is doing it right. Homemade tortillas and a limited menu so they can focus on certain dishes. I tried the chicken enchiladas suizas and they came out piping hot with bomb black refried beans. The salsa was also fire. My friends tried fish tacos, shrimp tacos, birria tacos, green chili tamales and chili relleno and everything was bomb. Definitely give this spot a try if you're in the area.
This place is underhyped. I wish we went here more than once, but oh boy was everything fantastic. The house made chips were incredible, and every dish was delicious and so flavorful. The mole on the enchiladas was velvety smooth, notes of chocolate with a tiny kick on the finish - divine. There was a line to order but it moved quickly and ample seating available for a late Sunday afternoon. Food came out quick and what a joy to end with soft serve. This is a must visit if you’re in the area.
Delicious, satisfying, and authentic Mexican dishes from a colorful counter service restaurant with spacious outdoor seating. Reasonably priced meals and even better value from the take home to cook options. The chicken mole was so rich and deep in flavor that you'll want to lick the plate clean. The pork tamales were also amazing and would definitely get again. Parking fills up fast on a busy day, so get here reasonably early. Very dog-friendly.
Fish tacos were very decent (full of veg and guac, freshly fried fish, very soft taco) but it was the tamales and the enchiladas that were 🧑🏻🍳💋 we got them to go and heated them up in the oven! I wish they could have given mole on the side for the chicken tamales though! Portions were generous.
The food is authentic, insanely delicious and some of, if not THE best Mexican food I’ve had in California. We got the pozole that was so nostalgic and fitting for the chilly weather, and the tostada with crema and salsa made it over the top. Also ordered the enchiladas suizas, perfection, down to the pickled veggies on the side. I’m so picky with mole, it’s so hit or miss, but the mole enchiladas are SO good. We sat on the covered patio with heaters, and they’re dog friendly. 11/10

El Molina Central is a Michelin rated restaurant in Sonoma valley. Very close to the Fairmont inn Mission and Spa. It is a small place with seating in the back. We tried the Chicken Enchiladas Suizas and the Pork and chicken Tamales. All the dishes tasted very fresh and had used great quality ingredients. Not overly cheesy or greasy. Perfect start to our day. We picked this place because it was in the direction we were going....and I am so glad we did or we would have missed this wonderful gem.

Seating is confusingly in the back. The hard shell brisket tacos were delicious. Reasonable prices. I was bummed they didn't have any margaritas tho.
