We were staying in South Lake Tahoe for the week and visited Off the Hook for dinner Friday night. Place was jamin when we arrived around 7:00p which is always a good sign. Wait was :30min but they offered some drinks while we hung out. Only took :20min to be seated. I appreciate that they were quicker than communicated. Chose this place because it is allergy friendly, catering to gluten free, dairy free, nut and other allergies. They have a tailored menu to GF with several options. We went all in on the sushi and it was delicious. They even brought Tamari sauce out per our request. Sat at the bar and the sushi chef was on it. Quick service and very polite. Recommend this place

My family has been coming here for the past 10 to 15 years and we have literally never had a bad experience, the food here is beyond top quality! This was the first time I have been back in a while and still the best sushi I can find anywhere in the US. The food, the wine, the service, the atmosphere this was the best experience we have ever had at a restaurant! Pedro was so unbelievably amazing, best service we have ever had so thank you so so much for everything we will be back every time we come to Tahoe! Also extremely affordable. This is an absolute must stop!!

Love this place! It has been excellent the entire time we have been coming here ... about 9 years! Everything is always delicious and the service can't be matched. Glad to see so many familiar faces over the years keeping this place humming. Hubby and I love the freshness of the fish and the veggie rolls. Took our teen out for a special night tonight and she went outside of her usual "cali roll" zone by trying the Sugar Mama! Wowzer!

There was a bit of a wait (30 minutes) for a table for 7 of us - we didn't mind terribly waiting, but it would have been nicer if the Yelp waitlist function had worked properly. But we finally were seated at a table outside. We'd already looked at the menu and had a good idea of what we wanted to order. Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. I was happy that there were a couple of veggie rolls that had tofu in them, and one that was vegan without the sauce and was probably one of the best "sushi" rolls I've ever eaten in my life. It was called the Earthworm (contains organic baked tofu, basil, garlic, cucumber & broccoli topped with avocado, macadamia nuts and dynamite sauce) and the combination of the basil and garlic was AMAZING. The Bhodi (organic baked tofu, spinach, garlic and shiitake mushroom) was also very good. Service was excellent and very helpful. They took our order efficiently but we didn't feel rushed, and it wasn't a terribly long wait to get the food. Everything looked gorgeous and the consensus seemed to be that everything was delicious. They were unfortunately out of the lava cake that several people in our group wanted to split, but they got to split the tempura cheesecake, and they really enjoyed that as well. We will likely come back next year when we're back for our yearly vacation!

First time in Lake Tahoe and the Sushi here is great we got the crunchy granola, fire in the sky and the special holy smokes, all three were amazing would come back again if back in the area. Could not recommend more. Also ordered the calamari, sake, and a miso soup. Great spot :)

My partner and I showed up right at the opening and there were a few tables lined up via reservations on Sunday night. The teapot is impossible not to spill and I encourage the management to replace them if possible. That aside, my partner had a nut allergy so with the exception at the end of the night, we tried to avoid the multiple dishes that probably make this sushi unique to the other spots in South Tahoe. Altogether we had The Joker, Funky Roll Medina, and Bodhi rolls in our first round of eating. These rolls had 8 maki per order and were no frills. At risk of angering the order, I thought they were kinda samish. My partner thought that Funky Roll Medina's spicy sauce was surprisingly vinegary but they drink cholula daily. Still, vegans should rejoice as the Bodhi is a successful roll that allows you to eat veggies and tofu while looking relatively normal. The menu really shined when I got one more roll afterwards. The High Roller shows how the Macadamia nuts support the dish in both texture and flavor. It's a shame we couldn't order more of these types (of which there are 10 different rolls that use macadamia) but I'll refrain from kissing my partner for a few hours the next time I'm here.

Sushi was great, very fresh. Maybe could have had more variety? A lot of the rolls had their signature eel sauce and/or macadamia nuts in them. That is the only reason for giving the food 4 stars because the rolls I had were delicious. Sushi chefs were attentive, friendly, and so was the staff. Good atmosphere.

Food, delicious, service excellent, ambience, fun, can't go wrong choosing Off The Hook to go to sushi. Absolutely love this place. Has fresh yummy fish. My favorite roll is the sugar mama and the royal flush. But honestly anything you order you can't go wrong. Highly recommend. Checking it out anytime you're in Tahoe

This place is a must when you’re in South Lake. Food is incredible, staff is so friendly and welcoming. You can even check wait times online in real time and if it’s busy, get on the waiting list. We had a great time! Thank you!

Absolutely delightful! Every bite was perfection, and the dessert was super delicious!! We ordered the California Roll, Sugar Mama, and Rainbow roll, we couldn't resist eating before taking a pic. Thank you!!!

It was busy when we came in but we were seated pretty quickly which was nice. We also came in just in time for Happy Hour which was a pretty good menu! Our food was brought out fairly quickly after placing the orders and our waitress was nice. Everything from our appetizers, to our sushi rolls, to my parent’s salmon plates was delicious! Overall a really great experience! I see why they’re voted the best sushi (: ( The 1st picture was the Fire in the Sky; 2nd picture was Red Dragon with Mac Daddy behind it (the bigger rolls). )

The addition of Macadamia nuts and herbs to the rolls adds something unique that I'm now always looking for when I visit other sushi restaurants. It can be a little busy during Happy Hour, but it's worth the wait!

So yummy! We sat in Tamara’s section both times we came and she was wonderful. We don’t run up a big tab but she was still so nice and attentive. Fish was great! Would definitely recommend.

Tamara was an awesome server! We got our food so quickly. Definitely try the garlic fish nigiri (we forgot the name of it, it was so delicious).

Overall this restaurant is very good. However, for a sushi-themed restaurant, I think based on my experience of having dinner this time, Their rice is cooked a little hard, So it's quite a pity! I can only give it four stars!

Nice upscale place with a contemporary menu selection of sushi rolls. Entrees include Teriyaki Chicken or Salmon plates and Bento Box option. Chicken Teriyaki plate is tasty, includes veggies, rice, salad, and miso soup. There are 3 small skewers of chicken, though for the price, I'd expect either 4 small skewers or 3 larger skewers. Good selection of fresh sushi, appetizers, and vegetarian options. Atmosphere is clean and inviting. Outdoor seating is nice, especially during warmer weather. Service was generally good and reasonably quick. Prices are moderate. Fairly easy parking in the small shopping center.

We had a great time. My husband and I ate here for the first time and were blown away by the service. Everyone was incredibly helpful - it felt like family. The dishes are unique and filling as well. Definitely get the sake and definitely go during happy hour.

When I read all the reviews about this place I had to try them for myself. Ordered miso soup, sugar mama, funky roll medina, hula girl, crunchy granola and sunomono with fish. Out of the five dish, I would say the sugar mama was the best. Great presentation and a good mix of everything, making it my will definitely order again roll. The crunchy granola and funky roll medina both tied for second. The hula girl was different due to the nuts inside, but for me did not work texturally. The fish on the sunomono was fresh, but the sauce for the sliced cucumbers was bland. Our waitress Mayra was excellent. She was friendly, efficient and even told us what the most popular rolls were. She checked on us several times to make sure everything was to our liking. The busboy was on the ball too. Never missed an empty water glass and took the finished plates off the table whenever he passed.

Dirty bathrooms -> dirty kitchen. Dirty floor. Sushi bar cuts raw fish literally on a kitchen towel rag. Sugar Mama roll is loaded with garlic that will steam thru your ...ears. No and no. Even my child complained that rice taste funky .
