Tamarack Lodge is praised for its great atmosphere, clean facilities, and friendly service, especially at Bar8150. Many visit after a gondola ride for drinks and views. The food is considered overpriced, but the experience is worth it for many.

Tip: Enjoy happy hour specials at the bar to offset the pricey food. It's a great place to wind down after the gondola.

Great place to eat. Has good salad bar in summer. Live music and great view of mountain. Get up the gondola early to enjoy the whole day up there. Lots of stuff for kids to do and good hiking trails.
This is the biggest and best lodge to grab lunch if you're at Heavenly. It has higher ceilings than the rest of the lodges and also more food options, including options for vegetarians. If you're on the California side, you'll unfortunately have to travel to the Nevada side and back for this lodge, which requires a long trek through some blue intermediate slopes, but it is worth the journey. If you arrive before 11:30am then you'll be able to find a table without any problem. Anytime during normal lunch hours then good luck.
The room is like home. I lived there with a 3 bedroom one, spacious and cozy. The location is also very good, close to Safeway and the lake of course. If you can get some discounted price for it, it is worthy that.
Their food price appeared to me on higher side. Cud be subjective. I know they are providing their service at that top of mountain where we are managing only by Gandola:) but personally I didn't find worth eating burritos for $16 plus taxes. Wish they had more food options. Good thing though was you can still sit and rest inside when its freezing outside. Very crowded place as that's the only place for snacking and resting.
I was a little nervous checking in - not what I expected. Once we saw the condo and amenities - it exceeded expectations. Close to Heavenly Village (which has easy parking) and on the lake with a pier. It was very memorable and comfortable. Wish we stayed longer and we'll definitely stay here again.
Glad they had vegetarian options but they had weird rules about time. They had a bunch of food that was Fresh Out the Oven but that they couldn't sell for 20 minutes. It was silly
This is probably the best experience I ever got up the mountain. After taking the gondola when you go up to the ski area you get in front of the lodge and longue in front enjoying the nice views along with having a glass of chilled beer with some snacks. The food as well tastes awesome. It's a worthy experience to try out atleast once for the views and the activities that can be done out there.
We start and end ski season at Tamarack Lodge at Heavenly because it’s the first and last lodge open. One can get to Tamarack by taking the Gondola from Heavenly Village (spectacular views of Lake Tahoe from the Gondola!) This beautiful Vail Lodge is similar to NorthStars Zephr Lodge. What we love: * Beautiful lodge with a great atmosphere * Gourmet food, craft beers and cocktails * Accessible to non skiers * Great views * Sparkling clean Suggestions It’s a bit pricey but perhaps that is the price one pays at ski resorts
Clean and organized for court area. Friendly and helpful team.
Nice new place with a variety of food and a couple bars. Prices pretty steep even for ski resort standard: 1 shot of Patron $18.65. Die to the location near the gondola place gets packed with skiers and tourists. They should have built it a bit bigger. Sun deck and waitress service nice bonus.
I thought this place was great to have! The meals are EXTREMELY expensive, but you're paying for the convenience of food up there in the mountains! Seating can be tough during lunch times, especially when it's busy. The tables are long tables, so expect to share with another group of people. Meals r not too bad, too! Bathrooms are usually kept pretty clean, so that's a plus :)
Didn't eat, just stopped by for a beverage and hang out. It was busy but not crazy. Super friendly, helpful employees
Food is good, lots of drink options. It’s better on the weekends when they have the rice bowls. Great place to hang out
We were only there for a few hours last Thursday, lovely ride on the gondola, great views of the lake. The lodge had clean restrooms, a water bottle filing station and charging station for your phone. Nicely spaced and clean tables with chairs to rest after walking. We've eaten there before, but this trip we had dinner reservations and did not want to spoil our appetite. Did notice prices here too have risen.
I have been skiing since 1988, mostly were in Bear Mountain, last year was the first time visiting Lake Tahoe, but we were kind of disappointed due to no fresh powder, so it was ice on all trails. This year we flew in again to take a chance to see if we will have luck on getting fresh powder for skiing... I guess someone heard us and dump so much of fresh powder for us to enjoy our ski trip. We were able to ski for two days and both days had so much of fun.
Great atmosphere perfect for a wind down after the gondola. The service is great. The guys at the bar are quick and friendly! Would definitely recommend! The man at the store in the observatory deck …

I can't speak for the food but we had, hands down, the best Bloody Mary EVER. Jacob was a wonderful server and served our drinks with this homemade candied bacon that changed my life lol.
Nice self service ski restaurant, with surprising same floor toilet. Like everything else in America it is built XXL with high ceilings and unlimited refill for soft drinks coffee and hot chocolate. Stop by to fill your water bottle in the free water fountain. Outside seating and tables is available.
The Lodge has WiFI, which can help if you're having difficulties with cell reception. It's comfortable, climate controlled and has a reasonable variety of choices for food. Keep in mind that the food and employees had to make the same trip you did and expect prices that reflect that.
The place is quite expensive, but it is expected given it is right next to the skiing area on the top of a mountain. Given the rush of people, it is reasonably clean and has a decent variety of warm comforting food. We had the lentil soup, veggie pizza, fries and beer. The food quality & taste is okay too. On a side note, I broke my eye glasses while skiing and the staff was kind to find a pair of scissors and tape for me to fix it temporarily.
REALLY expensive but the food was pretty good. I would probably bring my own next time rather than spend 50 on 2 adults and some sides for the kids. What we got was good but not worth the total cost. Gets four stars because of portion size and atmosphere.
Tamarack lodge is amazing place to go after a few ski runs to rest and eat. The only negative thing is there are getting more and more “tourist” crowding the lodge that are not skiers and we could not even sit at a table this last trip. The lodge is crowded enough with just skiers!
Right on the slopes located at the bottom of Tamarack Lift. It’s really crowded around lunchtime indoors (there’s outdoor seating too). Good place for food and drink: full meals or snacks. Burgers, soups, chili, pizza, fries and mac’n’cheese, etc are served, as well as fountain, bottled, and bar drinks. The prices are high, it is right off the lift line and on the slopes so it’s convenient, but the portions are pretty good sized.
If your up for the ride to get up here the variety of food they have is very good. I beleive the elevation is around 10,000 feet. Views on the way up and down are spectacular.
Large indoor lodge where there's restrooms, lots of tables and chairs, and a variety of foods and drinks (even alcoholic ones). Great for taking a rest out of the cold, and getting something to eat or drink. Salads, soups, pizza, burgers, fries, chili, and sandwiches. Lots of hot and cold drink options. Open for breakfast and lunch. Bar located in lodge for alcoholic drinks, and happy hour. Credit cards accepted.
As gorgeous as the views are, and as good as the food is, what makes this lodge such a good experience is the staff. From the food servers to the custodial staff, they worked super hard to make sure we were taken care of. Pro tip:Skip the drink and get the fry basket. Way more fries than if purchased as a combo and it's 8 bucks less. My only complaint is that the bathrooms always seem to be dirty. I know it's a ski lodge...but come on...
Good place for snacks and drinks. No hot food, as of July 31st, 2020. The bathrooms here are extremely clean and well kept. Good bottled drink selection. There were a few sandwiches, but lunch options are minimal. Our family enjoyed some protein packs and Gatorade, then headed out. The seating is currently outdoor only and shade is limited.
Great staff with salad bar and regular bar. Food selection is mediocre to bad
The inside of the lodge is warm and nice looking. There are lots of tables. I think I stayed in there for about an hour with my crew. Hot chocolate is about $5 a cup and a plate of chickens strips is around $20. It's pretty good but pricey. Be careful at the hot chocolate machine it will burn you if you spill it on yourself. We decided to share our chicken strips with each other. (:
This is a nice lodge. The food is pretty expensive here. I tried the clam chowder and it was pretty good. They have a lot of selections for food. When I went it was Mexican, Italian, and burger stuff. Not sure if they change the menus since this was the first time I ate here. Also if you want to have cocktails and beer they offer that too. It was nice to have the place open since we were there for the epic adventures which was awesome for the kids.
The views from the Tamarack Lodge are simply magnificent, it provides welcome respite from hours of skiing. The food is, as expected on top of mountain, crazy expensive (see my pics for menu and prices) but it is well made. Food portions are good. They have free WiFi, at ok speed. The lodge has large mens and womens restrooms.

Great place glad its here. Would like to see more of a beer selection; like some "Icky" maybe have a happy hour too. $12.40 for a beer leaves me feeling like I need a shower after IT drinks IT, so rude to charge that much.
The food is served cafeteria style. Typical bar food. Bar is nice and serves great Bloody Marys. Very expensive! 4 Bloody Marys $80. Chicken strip meal $25. Pulled pork sandwich a la cart $17.
I wanted to like Tamarack Lodge, but our 5 night stay in March turned out to be Just OK. Maybe its because we were assigned the smallest, least desirable cabin. There were plenty of positives....the site is excellent, beautiful and remote...yet only 2 miles from the ski hill and 3 miles to town. The cabin was basic and old...which was fine...but so tiny that I barely fit into the shower stall. The staff tried hard and was friendly...but seemed under-trained and the place seemed under-staffed. I got the feeling that the restaurant with its $50 entrees was somehow more important than the happiness of the cabin occupants I try not to dwell on the negatives...but the operational idiosyncrasies' and lack of leadership from the corporate ownership would probably make me look for another option next time.
Pretty easy American bar food. We got a hamburger, pork sandwich, fruit bowl, fries and a candy bar and our bill was $53..... Also got one beer and a rum and coke and it was $30. Was not expecting that. Feel like even for skiing that is quite the price! Food was pretty average. During peak hours it can also get very tight! I do love all the people sitting drinking beer in the Adirondack chairs outside though! Definitely would have done that if it wasn’t so expensive!
The facility overall is good - comfortable and serves its purpose. Food/beverage prices are exorbitant. I do like their chilli though :) Love the international crew of youngsters that work here (and across the Heavenly resort area) in peak season. It gives a fun diverse atmosphere.
Food is expensive but good but problem is they close before 4pm and I got stuck in the mountains and couldn't get a decent meal, ate chips for late lunch. If we pay 170 bucks for a lift ticket they should have all the food vendors open till 4pm or later. I love heavenly but price has gone ridiculously high, may consider another spot if they dont change it.
It gets way too crowded on weekends
Very nice place, especially if its chilly or snowing outside. Kind staff as well and very clean. Great to have a break with kids! Downside: very pricey! I did expect that it will be a little bit expensive, of course, but when you have already paid almost 400 bucks to be there for the activities (three P.), it is a little bit too much to pay for one coffee, one hot chocolate and one tea $30.
New. Quite small considering the the area where it’s located. It serves both skiers and tourists. Modern decor but food and bar are quite expensive and food is average. Live music is nice. It would of been nice had they designed a tunnel or covered indoor walkway from gondola to the lodge. Observation deck on way to lodge is fantastic views.
Only two cashiers on 2017 Thanksgiving holiday where one of them was at her first day. Huge line just to be able to order food. Not enough places to sit down and eat. Food is not super cheap which I understand (we are up in the mountain anyway) but the cost could accommodate a better experience. 3 stars are for the western burger (pretty good) and for the DJ party (4-5:30pm) that took place later after the ski tracks were closed.
This was OK. We had planned to have dinner up here but decided against it because the food was less than expected. For those interested in checking this out, be aware that it's in a little valley, so there's no view from the restaurant / building and the food is just hamburgers and pizza. I would recommend eating down by the lake.
The food and drinks here are great, but very overpriced ($15+ for even the simplest dish). The chili is my favorite, really good! However, lines to even get inside are really long due to them checking Covid vaccine proof at the entrance. Even if you've done so before and have a sticker on your lift card you still have to get in that line. Hopefully this restriction goes away soon and Tamarack goes back to its regular very long lines. Seating is limited and a royal pain as well. All this combined, expect to spend at least 30 minutes and as many dollars before you sit down with a bowl of chili and a water bottle.
Decent restaurant at the end of heavenly gandola ride. They have hot chocolate for winters which was nice for the cold. But there were no other hot beverage options. Also they had few food option for lunch, but very limited stuff for vegetarians . Nice place to relax after the big Gandola ride. Specially in winter , nice place to stay warm. The people of the lodge were nice and quiet helpful.
Expensive for a low income family, & they don't have enough food choices. Nice & clean restroom w/ changing table for infants & they have a free tampons. We enjoy the toy table they have there, wish there's a place for a toddler that isn't a sand toy, because my 18months daughter end up eating some of it.
Big on mountain restaurant that is huge and needs to be even larger. This place is packed between 12 and 2 every weekend day. Food is ok and bar area is super small. Waitresses are very nice but are overworked and have to deal with the crowded dining area.
While the lodge is situated in a nice location on the mountain to go inside use a restroom and get some water there are no views to speak of and the prices of what we consider very basic ski lodge food such as hotdogs, burgers, chili and salads was way over priced. I have to mention that we eat often at mountains we visit but these prices matched the altitude here at Heavenly $$$$
The food is too expensive but it’s easier than going all the way down. Cheap chicken nuggets were priced at $22 dollar, and garlic fries were $9. All of the staff are nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. It’d be more worth it to eat when you go back down the gondola. There’s free WiFi but it’s iffy.
Food ok. Service good. Clean with well stocked condiment areas. Liquor at the bar is expensive. Happy hour at the bar is a joke, starts at 3 and the gondola closes at 4:30. It should start at 2pm. The view is excellent, although they should charge 1/2 the price for sightseers that are not skiing. Recommend that you take up a snack and have a late lunch. All the families are eating at the same time and the runs are practically empty from 11:30 - 1pm on weekdays. On weekends its packed.
The only knock on this place is the price. One round of beers (4) was over $50 without tip. Due to that we only ordered once and just used the awesome facility for picnicking. Not the best deal on a mountain. Lots of fun folks to hang out with, like the guys in the photo, but check out the reflection.
Typical ski resort food, okay, but way over priced especially the alcohol. Total for one beer $17 something before tip. You pay for convenience to the slopes.

as expected, very long lines to get lunch. Some of the stations like the hamburgers and sandwiches are much quicker as they are constantly making them and then they’re ready by the time you order. I had the Asian chicken bowl, hands down the worst chicken I’ve had- ever. I could barely bite through it, it seems like they cooked it so long they were trying to make lumber. 0/10 , would never recommend. This was with sauce on it too!
Very expensive. $11 for bowl of mediocre soup. $6 for watery starbucks coffee. People serving burgers spent more time arguing than dealing with the line of people. Did not enjoy eating here, but is the only option at the top of the mountain.
Two Gatorades, two Uncrustables and one Izze. $37!
The food was ok. It's even more insanely priced than Vail. They need tow ropes to get to this place but your $30 lunch and $600 lift ticket aren't buying those! Obstacles very poorly marked. Facilities inadequate. Inadequate heat when it's 30 outside and they keep the door open for covid.
Can't comment on food as the lodge wouldn't even sell us an apple for cash during a power outage, instead made us wait in 1hr line to ride back down gondola (see photo). Didn't seem to have any interest in trying to make a bad weather situation better. On the other hand the lodge had a comfortable and warm mountain appeal.
Attention please !!!! Price gouging alert!!!!! This rating goes for their price gouging tactics ! This is a lodge for the bored retirees, wealthy businessman, and celebrities ! If you’re middle class save your money! The kitchen was closed just after 4 pm the other day, and the lady with attitude in the front (glasses and piercings) advised that the only thing available to purchase was the overpriced snacks. One of which was a yogurt parfait (grocery price is $3.99, Tamarack is $11.85) Don’t get me started on how everything else cost- it will ring your ears ! Truly disgusting that you can’t comfortably and securely enjoy your experience on the mountain when you’re hungry with a child. Very scummy ! The extra star goes to the restrooms though - large and clean but that’s it ! Will never return here!!!

Decent food but it's the taxation with elevation that kills the rating. Food is way more expensive than it should be. You have to purchase a lift ticket to even get here. So it's either a $65 gondola ride it $125 lift ticket. Burgers are $27 fries are $8.50. corporate greed at it's finest.
The service that Brian the cashier gave us was not very good.
Sorry but there is NOTHING for lactose intolerant people / cheese haters. Please fix!! Cheeseburger should be able to be made without cheese. The idea that it’s frozen like that… yuck.
CHECK. YOUR. TOTAL. BEFORE. PAYING. No, you’re not getting the epic discount even when they scan or correct prices unless you pay attention and confirm before tapping. And get physical receipts.
food was cold, way over priced. me and my husband got chicken tenders and drinks and it was 70 dollars.it would have been different if the food was good, i understand your paying for an experience being up here. but the food tasted so gross.
