Though the outdoor seating area has some shaded spots, most are in full sun by 4:30 pm. So people shift around a lot to find shade. Having more umbrellas would be my only suggestion for improvement. Ultimately, it’s lakefront, quiet, unpretentious though refined, and a haven from the raucous crowds and screeching kids at the beaches.

I visited The Idle Hour for the second time last night, and it was another great experience. We ordered a charcuterie and cheese plate, along with wine flights, which I enjoyed the most. The selection of wines complemented the food perfectly. The amazing view of the lake added to the atmosphere, making it a really pleasant evening. I definitely recommend this place for a nice night out!

Wine tasting with a balcony view of Lake Tahoe, what more can you really ask for!? Had a perfect afternoon here with my mom for her birthday. We had the charcuterie board which included some really amazing gluten free crackers, the old fashioned flight of wine, and the salmon bites. The atmosphere was truly unbeatable! Ideal for two people since the outdoor tables are small.

Our first time up to Tahoe and wanted something cute and lakeside. Wine was good and food was good. We loved the pizza with apples and balsamic glaze. Can’t remember the name! Service was friendly as well. They even provide blankets if you’re sitting on the deck. Great experience. 🤗

Excellent service with outstanding views. Greek feta dip and cups of lobster Bisque and tomato Florentine paired with the Old World white wine flight was perfect. Also getting a Brie grilled cheese to share. Would definately return. Was a very good move to get the sandwich!! Delicious with Blueberry fig jam and apples. Saw a fondue nearby which was very attractive.

Really good place! So delicious food especially bruschetta and grouches, amazing big set with 8 vines . I liked Californian - so good. It’s my first time in California. I was in LA and Sequoia park, Yosemite and this place had the best food. Really good for American hospitality! I know what I am saying, I work there too but in Dubai 😊. So you really have to visit this place . And don’t be sad if you will not be there during sunset. After sunset it’s much better ( for me) . So 7:30 and later - cool time. Fast and friendly service.

Idle Hour completely blew me away. From the moment we arrived, everything felt special. We were lucky enough to get there just before sunset, and I’m so glad we did. The skies turned the most stunning shade of pink over the lake. Watching the sun dip behind the mountains while the water glowed was absolutely breathtaking. The views of Lake Tahoe here are truly unmatched; it’s easily one of the best places to take in the scenery while enjoying a fantastic meal. Our server, Notanee, was incredible: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They knew the menu inside and out and made us feel taken care of from start to finish. We also had the pleasure of meeting Sam, the manager, who checked in on us and made sure everything was perfect. The level of hospitality here is on another level. And the food? Amazing. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. If you’re visiting Lake Tahoe, Idle Hour is an absolute must. Whether you’re coming for the food or drinks, or the jaw-dropping views, especially at sunset, you’ll leave already wanting to come back. Highly, highly recommend.

The two we chose did not disappoint. So good! I cannot imagine a nicer place in Tahoe to watch a sunset and enjoy good food, good drinks, and an amazing view of the lake. Service was excellent also.

One of my favorite places in Tahoe! Beautiful lake views at all times and when it gets cold they have blankets. Very nice people and they have a locals discount. The appetizers are delicious and I love the flatbreads, bruschetta and pesto burrata dip. Soups are good too. Wine is good and they have flights!

This is a beautiful place to chill, have drinks and enjoy the view! We sat outside and the sun was directly hitting us and it was hot. No shades. The server with a short mustache took our order and never returned to check up on us. I flagged him down and I was ignored. I do understand when servers are busy but the place had calmed down and the people next to us were checked out but we were ignored. I had to get another server to close us out. Apart from the service the place is definitely worth the hype!
