Great food, great atmosphere & service. Love stopping buy with family when we get a chance too. Driving in from south LA to have honey glaze walnut shrimp 🍤 and those pork chops. Yum
Love Golden China! Me and my family have been going there for many years. It's a great place.
The food was good. Will order again
Cried tears of joy, seriously. Crushed my foot in a motorcycle accident, and today was my first time seriously riding again. Chilled with friends and worked on our bikes, then came here afterward for food. Worth every cent and second; we're absolutely coming back in the future!
Always great! Love their food and the service is always great.
Food is delicious, good variety to chose from. Staff is very friendly.
I liked the menu options. Food was very good.
I’ve been coming here with my family for years. The food and the service is top notch!
We love this place!! Great food, huge menu, great service and not pricey. We dine here often and always bring visiting out of town guests. “We have to go to Golden China” from my niece and her family when they visit!
I am Chinese American and highly enjoyed the food. It's a family run place that takes me back to my childhood. Be patient, this isn't Panda Express fast food. It is worth the wait.
"This restaurant offers an incredible authentic Chinese dining experience! The Stir-fried Beef with Broccoli was exceptionally juicy, and the Salt and Pepper Shrimp had the perfect balance of spice and crunch. The atmosphere is vibrant and perfect for family gatherings. Service was fast and professional. If you're looking for genuine flavors, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!"
We ordered lunch special and we love orange chicken, ma po tofu, chive jumbo dumplings so delicious!
The service was great, the atmosphere and food are both top-notch, and overall it's just a nice, relaxing place to devour some genuinely tasty Chinese food! Definitely try their orange peel chicken, it's lovely :)
We love Chinese very much because they use fresh ingredients to make the dishes unique with flavors and spices making Chinese cuisine popular with everybody who enjoy it. I took my wife for lunch to the Golden China restaurant in South Pasadena this restaurant have been in the same location for many years. They have lunch special that everybody comes for their lunch deal. We have been here before but it's been a long time I haven't been there. We step in we were surprise it pack but the host found a table. Then the host hand us the menu then we look at their lunch deal. My wife order the cashew chicken and I order the chicken chop suey it comes with rice with salad and a egg roll and soup. We try the soup it was really good and rice with salad and egg roll. The salad was good but more vegetables or color to the salad and also need more dressing. The waiter brought our meal my chicken chop suey look good I took a bite it was good but I notice every Chinese restaurants have their own version of Chop suey. My wife enjoy her cashew chicken great flavors she say. The staff are very friendly.
The food is delicious here and the people are friendly, it is under new management but the menu and the food are great as always. It is an experience like I remembered going with my parents, to a family owned Chinese restaurant. Love it.
Our server was great and extremely nice. He interacted with us with pure kindness. The orange peel chicken was delicious.
From outside it looks like a very small place but once inside one can see the difference. Lots of space, elegant but comfortable. Very nice waiters. Tasty and great variety of food. Very large portions. Definitely a place to return.

Been coming here for years. Love the waitstaff! On New Years Eve we ordered a rather large order through GrubHub. Large box was delivered and one of the items was missing. Called the restaurant at 8:12 and at 8:32 someone from the restaurant dropped off our missing item. Made someobe very happy since that was the only thing she wanted! The customer service was great on a wet and rainy night!
I ordered take out with a variety of items and everything was delicious! They provided me with a variety dipping sauces and hot sauces (which I personally love). I couldn’t wait to get up this morning to eat my left over pan fried pork bao. Quick, friendly and efficient. I can’t wait to rerun.
Ordered delivery. Arrived hot, ready to eat, and was just what we wanted for lunch. Complete wit soup, rice , and fortune cookies. I wish that delivery was not so expensive, but Golden China does a very good meal.
Ordered their garlic chicken takeout. Was surprised how much food they gave along with how good it was. The rice that came with it also was really good. All of it was nice and filling. I plan on going again next time.
everything here was absolutely immaculate. the food is incredible; well prepared and bursting with flavor. we ordered the chicken fried rice, wonton soup and broccoli in garlic sauce. im not exaggerating when i say each dish was cooked to absolute perfection with extra love and care. the wait was a bit long only because it’s christmas day so truly not the fault of the restaurant at all. even though they were swamped, the staff kept checking in with us to keep us posted on when our food would be ready. and in all honesty, it was well worth the wait. we will absolutely be back in the future to try more dishes.
Christmas Day was PACKED. But that just means their food is good. Did online pick up, while I think I can be organized a better, they were trying their best to get to everyone. Customers were such in a bad mood, blocking the ways of the waitress, and waiters. I felt bad for the workers. I do think that they pack up the food fresh, because our food even though I picked it up at 6:30 when my pick up time was 5pm it was still fresh and hot. And the flavor was great! Thanks for being open on Christmas Day, dinner was great :) a better pick up system is all that is recommended, but definitely understand it was very chaotic and there isn’t much room for others to stand in line.
Visited Golden China Restaurant 祥園 at 1115 Fair Oaks Ave in South Pasadena after a friend’s recommendation, and wow, what a gem! This spot has been around for 40 years, so you know they’ve got their flavors dialed in. Tried their Salt and Pepper Chicken, and let me tell you—it’s crispy, perfectly seasoned, and just hits all the right notes. Great value for the portion size too! If you’re into hearty soups, the Wonton Soup is packed with flavor and filling. Definitely a solid choice when you’re craving authentic Chinese food without breaking the bank. Check it out!

I had Chicken Kung pao and my guest had beef kung pao. We had the sup and fried rice included. food was good but not as good as the last time we went. service was fast . wasabi sauce was very spicy as expected. parking is usually available .
Food was good but I have to admit we stopped ordering shrimp rolls or egg rolls because the quality has gone down over the past five years or so.
Friendly restaurant celebrating its 40th anniversary! We had a lunch gathering there and everyone picked a dish from the lunch special- it was served with Eggdrop or Hot& Sour soup, 1 spring roll, a small portion of crisp lettuce (can use a dressing..), and 1 scoop of white / fried rice. The main course served on a separate plate and the portion was quite generous! I got my all-time favorite—garlic sauce chicken. We also shared twice-cooked pork, eggplant, classic kaopao chicken, fish fillet in black bean sauce, and scallops with veggies. Everyone enjoyed the food and was surprised by the variety of fresh veggies! I love their creative marketing approach in the Membership drive. Once you join the free membership, you will receive a delicious 8-inch boba milk cake on your birthday! I do plan to visit again and try their dinner options!

The Quality of the food has Improved greatly, there just a small step below the oak tree inn in south Pasadena.Very much improved.I have had no complaints about the food and i've been a customer for over 10 years, there is a big difference from then until now. Somebody is purposely given lousy ratings when they're not close to being true. We always eat in

A couple of buddies and I met there for the first time, the waiter was grumpy, the rice and egg rolls were cold, didn't even take the tint to zapp then up for a minute. He still got a tip although I felt he didn't deserve it. One and done!
I would like to say that this is my first time ever ordering from this place and probably the last. The customer service was not to good here. My order was sitting on the table as I waited next in line and the gentlemen helped 3 people behind me before I receive my order. I even informed him that I was next in line and he saw me standing and waiting. Maybe next time will be better! No apology at all by the way.
I never write reviews, but I’m just so bothered by my experience. I ordered over the phone, orange chicken, veggie fried rice and an egg roll. I had a paper menu at home that I ordered off of. I went to pick it up, he tells me the price $45. I said “excuse me?” I ordered orange chicken fried rice and an egg roll. We had a miscommunication about the egg roll order. I thought I was ordering one single egg roll. I said ok we had a miscommunication. He continued to rant at me. So I said assertively, “ sir, I said we had a miscommunication “ so he stopped talking. He then offered to take the egg roll out. I said yes please. So now, my bill was $35. Which is still insane for rice and chicken. I said the menu I have must be wrong then. Bc that doesn’t calculate to what’s on the paper menu. Either way, whatever. I took the food home. Now I’m infuriated. The fried rice was flavorless and basically soggy white rice with veggies and scrambled egg. I tried to dr them up, add soy sauce and fry them in a pan. Now, I try the orange chicken. The smell of burnt sauce oozed out of the container. I took a bite, the chicken was chewy yet had a sandy crunch when bit into with an intense burnt flavor. Maybe work on the quality of food before upping every item 5 more bucks. And no one needs a sob story about gas prices when a customer brings up how insane the prices are. I’ll literally never order from here again. Please work on your quality before over charging. Now I’ve wasted 35 bucks, and food is wasted and going in the trash. Super disappointed.
I went in planning to order off the lunch menu. I tried to discuss my food allergies with the waitress and she kept redirecting me to a la carte items that would be more expensive. She was very resistant to having a conversation with anyone in the kitchen about my food allergies. I finally gave it up and left. I can't really speak to the quality of the food but definitely the service was terrible and an atmosphere where I do not feel safe to eat is definitely not a good vibe.
This place is absolutely disgusting. The Men's bathroom is filthy and covered in urine that smells through the whole restaurant. I couldn't even sanction eating so I left without ordering. There were two elderly guys sitting down reading when they should be cleaning and sanitizing. The windows, electronic screens and dishes were filthy. Shut this place down before someone gets sick.
Good lord! What happened to this once delicious restaurant!? We asked the waiter if it was under new ownership and he FLAT OUT LIED and said NO! Well it is a new owner and the food is cheap quality garbage! We had to go to Vons and pick up ginger ale when we left after eating this gross meal which was prepared for us all in 5 minutes! It was recooked left overs that was flavorless and food was like chewing on beef jerky and I’m not sure what kind of meat we were eating but it certainly wasn’t beef and that’s very alarming!! This will be our farewell visit. What a GREAT BIG WASTE OF MONEY!! Totally Disgusted!
This once glorious staple of my friends and family has fallen so far beyond the bar of what I expect when paying the prices to eat there !!! The food is eh for the price like really the portions are so far out of what we are paying i can pay less and get more and an all you can eat restaurant!! Or a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant!!! But the kicker was not our over priced dog food!! It was the server and her attitude and hovering!!! All she did was bring out drinks and food and never saw her again accept when it was time to tip ... her service was that of homeless peasant her attitude was like a teenager getting her first monthly cycle and she was just all over a horrible server and person !!! I use to work at this location when the old owners were there and this is sad to say but when I was paying I opted out of tipping because there was no reason to and I was leaving and I get and excuse me from the waiter she asked me "why you no tip " I said that her service was not worthy of one she called the manager and they both stated having a yelling match with Me infrot of customers!! I'm not obligated to tipp it's a choice and they said it's a service fee that's a joke !!! I've been band from a restaurant me my friends and family have been going to since i was a child 33 now sorry to say selling to new owners was the worst thing you could have done because the servers and management is trash
Terrible establishment. I paid $20 for a CUP of rice. Food was bland and old tasting. Hostess was stingy as hell with the sauces. There are so many better and CHEAPER options!
I order a dinner deal that includes a wonton soup, when I was enjoying my soup i saw something disgusting inside the container, it was a nasty, dirty zip tie. I'm very concern and terrified thinking in the possibility of me chocking myself with this zip tie ( it was tied up). Also the portions are don't worth the price.

The lady in the front had a terrible attitude, but noticed her attitude changed and was friendlier with Asian guests. She rushed to take the order and wasn't friendly at all. On top of that the fried rice was mushy and the shrimp in the shrimp dish I ordered tasted old. Don't go here, go to the Chinese restaurant up the street! I do not work for any restaurant or affiliated with any restaurant at all. I was a first time customer that gave this restaurant a first try while my son was at his orthodontist appt. and I have the receipt the prove it!
We ordered kung pao chicken and mongolian beef lunch specials. They were tender but tasted like ammonia. Either too much baking soda and not properly rinsing off or it’s spoiled meat. We barely ate the food because my wife is pregnant and we’re not risking it. We asked for the bill and paid in full. The chef seemed upset and tried to approach us but the host stopped him.
