the food are delicious and being in keto my girlfriend and i were able to get soup without the noodle and i had the salad bowl with fried pork belly. and the fried pork belly are pretty big portions. quail eggs is like a smaller version of the tea eggs. the curry pork grinds were okay. other than that stellar costumer service.
This is definitely one of my favourite new spots for comfort hong kong street food. I love the variety on their menu: Assorted appetizers, noodle/rice plates, dessert, tea, & fresh juice. The Hainan chicken w/ yellow rice is their best dish. I also like the fried tofu, quail eggs, & congee (rice porridge) w/ preserved egg. Thanks Night Market for opening up in SSF! I feel more at home now
As close to a Hong Kong street food experience as you can get without flying to Hong Kong. Accurate down to the tables and chairs you sit at. With the right lighting, you could reenact your favorite HK movie scene. I really had the feeling of a daai pai dong (大排檔) in the street of Wanchai. All the food is authentic and tasty, but very innovative. We had the shrimp and egg on rice (滑蛋蝦仁飯), roasted bone marrow over rice (炬牛骨髓跟飯), curry chicken (港式咖喱雞飯), among other things. We loved them all. They had authentic Hong Kong style milk tea (絲襪奶), but it takes over 20 minutes to brew the tea strong enough. I didn't arrive at the right time to get a cup, but it gives me a good excuse to go back!
If you're looking for delicious canto-style Chinese cuisine, The Night Market is a place to go. This is one of my family's favorite places to get Hainanese Chicken, Singapore-Style Chow Mein, Beef Chow Fun, dessert tofus, milk teas, fruit teas, dim sum, soup noodles...what can I say, everything is good here. Night Market has a fairly extensive menu, but the food is consistently good and the portion sizes are generous for the cost. While it's not the prettiest place to dine at - it definitely looks like a night market with the little squatter plastic seats and folding tables scattered around, but that definitely adds to the charm. The service is fantastic and the people there are friendly. I like how quickly food is served up and how the people working there are a lot friendlier than some of the sit down Chinese restaurants I go to. It's a solid place to get good Chinese food - especially the boneless Hainan Chicken! - and a must stop for our family when we're in the area.
Finally they open for dinner! Have tried lunch & dinner! All good but different serving style/menu. Classic enough, taste pretty authentic! If you do eat thousand year old eggs, you gotta try the fried egg! It's the bomb!!! Of course, the famous chicken rice is super delicious ! April,2018 update – came here on a busy Friday night! Food is still good however, service was slow. Staff need a better training instead of tuning around cluelessly. Pork feet noodle was bland due to excessive noodle. Too much noodle too little sauce.
Pretty good selection, brings me back to Hong Kong memories! Quite expensive though compared to Hong Kong We got the: - Xo sauce rice rolls - chicken rice (I needed to ask for the sauces, they didn't have the sweet soy sadly) - came with shrimp crackers - fish cake noodles 車仔麵 So good
First time here and lived it, we had the Tofu and Mushrooms, Lamb BBQ on a stick and Beef Chowfun, portions are perfect we even had take out from our order. A must place to visit.
Hidden gem for sure. Nostalgic Hong Kong street food with several vendors. Food came out quick and was delicious - we got the lamb fried rice, popcorn chicken, shrimp with egg rice, soy marinated quail eggs, and coconut taro sago. Huge portions, good value.
Really cool spot, like a food market you'd find in Taiwan or another Asian country. Great boba tea. Would be a great place to come with a group, everyone can order their own dishes or order a bunch and share. Staff were also lovely!
One of my favorite food spots in SSF. I've come back repeatedly for the combination pan-fried crispy noodle, the Singapore style curry rice noodle, and the buns and milk tea. I love the vibes in here, It really does feel like a night market in Hong Kong or Taiwan. Prices are reasonable, there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, you can have your dogs at the outdoor tables.
This restaurant has some flavorful asian dishes really tasty. I try W11, which is the singapore noodles had me go back for seconds in the same day. I like the decor and layout of the eatery. Very spacious and they even have an out door patio. The menu is easy to understand. The staff are kind and friendly. Food is made to order. I recommend this restaurant.
R1 Night Market Hainan Chicken w/ Yellow Rice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great variety of menu options, fun Asian night market feel with the small plastic tables and chairs. What we got: R10 Curry Beef Brisket & Vegetables w/ Rice - quite fatty brisket, wish it had more meat ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ BBQ Pork Bun ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So, several years ago the first night market opened next to Spruce Cafe & Patisserie. It was chaotic then & they decided to remodel. This Night Market is the remodeled version. The space/layout is relatively the same but there’s no more street noises being projected in the back wall like it did before. When I crave for a bao, I got to this place because you get the best value. The roast pork belly is the game changer for me. For $12, you get two baos with hoisin sauce, green onions and the roasted pork belly. It also comes with mayo but I always tell them to put it on the side! Just trust me when I say this is good :) I also get the marinated quail eggs here. You normally get 8 of them but lately, it’s been 10 pieces so just be aware of that. It is a must when you just want to hang and chill with friends! Other recommendations: • Popcorn Chicken • Passionfruit Jasmine Tea with Aiyu Jelly • Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken Skin (warning though, it can be oily & it really should be shared with bunch of people!) • Mixed Sauce Mini Rice Noodle PS. the coffee place next door is definitely a much. definitely recommending them highly!
Hong Kong street kind of theme. They have a lot of dishes to choose. Food tasted okay and vibes good. On the other hand, I noticed that they waste too many plastic bowls and utensils. I don’t think they care about that much. Shrimp dumplings and popcorn chicken tasted great. It’s a bit too pricey for Cantonese street food though. Overall, it was okay.
Overall, the food is not bad. What looked like separate food stalls, like the ones in Asia, are all for show. You order at the front cashier and pick up the food at the back counter. The place is smaller in person. I do like the Hong Kong and Taiwanese influence of the menu. After sitting a while on their plastic chairs, my back started to hurt and had to get up. We had a large order and was missing an item. Luckily someone in our group noticed and had to talk to the cashier. Of course the flavors aren't as good as the real food stalls in Asia. I think it might be the local ingredients. The one thing I didn't like was how most of the stuff was served in to-go containers. Such a waste.

Don’t trust the low reviews, this place is such an amazing hidden gem. The food is amazing, my friends and I have been coming here for years when we’re craving some comfort food. If you’re Chinese, you definitely won’t be disappointed. I hope this place never closes. 🥹
This place is a hidden gem. The menu is a mix of authentic Hong Kong diner food and fusion versions of similar dishes. Food came very quickly. Portion was very generous. There were mahjong tables available to be used if the table spends more than $120, which isn't difficult for a mid-size dinner group.

Talk about nostalgia, these are food/snacks I grew up eating as a kid. It's quite an experience that is hard to describe. There were so many street vendors lined up on the side of street and each station would sell a different kind of speciality. And the snacks menu I posted is just a small selections of what I had as a kid. To be honest, the food is OK but then I guess you can't beat the taste from childhood memories! The fried large intensine at this place is really not that good. My dad and I love this snack and we would get it whenever we see that vendor. It has to be fried for a very long time for all the fat to cook out and leaving it sooooo crispy almost like chips and it's cut thin topped some hoisien and hot sauce, it's heaven! This place just didn't take the time to fry it and they cut it way to thick. But all in all, it's hard to find a place with the variety they have to offer here, so I can't complain. Oh! And the chairs and tables...yea, this place do try to put some thoughts into decorating this place, another plus.
This is a popular pleasant find. It tried very hard to replicate the Hong Kong style night market and it somewhat succeeded. Night market is extremely popular in Asia and you can think of it as Asian Denny's for evening/late night snacks for foodies. There can be a long line for both ordering and waiting for food so I do not recommend you go if you are short on time. There is a dedicated parking lot so parking should be easy and because cops frequent this place too should be relatively safe as well. The food is decent and certain things such as lamb kebobs (a lot of fat which is great but unfortunately not spicy and not enough cumin) are amazing. However I do not recommend ordering any drinks nor dessert from this place as they take a loooong time and are not as good as regular boba places. The other stable Hong Kong style food is alright and good for "quick" bites.
Good little place for a quick eat. It set up like several street food vendors under one roof. Food n tastes are not bad but nothing fancy. Both of the noodles tasted good( Beef n Hunan chicken ). Would come back if I'm in the area.
Fun place, food was good. You get a free side item for spending $20

This is a place that looks good but both the price and quality of food don't match. A rice plate cost north of $16 each and a cup of Hong Kong milk tea (mind you, it is regular size) is about $6. Attached you'll see a photo of Hainanese chicken with rice and roasted duck breast with rice, and HK MT. 2 people, 2 rice plates, 2 MT, just north of $50 after tax and tips. Roast duck breast was kinda dry and the meat was firmed. Hainanese chicken was not appealing nor it tasted anything like Hainanese chicken that one could have elsewhere in the Bay -- not very flavorful, not moist on the skin, it's just OK. The yellow rice isn't authentic, as it wasn't cooked with the chicken oil/broth when making a Hainanese chicken. There's also no soup but a bunch of cabbages with this meal. If you are expecting a authentic Hainanese chicken with rice, be it from Singapore, Hong Kong, or other places in the Bay -- I'm afraid that you'll be disappointed. The milk tea wasn't authentic and when they served the MT, it was half mixed. The problem is that because the MT was sealed with plastic film, there isn't a good way to mix the drink thoroughly -- we tried inverting our drinks plenty of times, no luck; we then tried to stir our drink with the plastic straw, it mixed a little but breaks the plastic seal at the top to a bigger hole. It tasted less sweet than authentic HK MT, and the texture is identical to any normal MT (i.e. not smooth). So for a drink that cost $5.5 / 6 pre-tax, of that size, it is very expensive. Mind you that you won't be able to taste any tea flavor if that is your thing. The place is clearly understaffed. They got a lot of to-go, pickup orders, so be prepared for a significant wait for dining in. Overall, it maybe worth a try if you are local, but not if you have to drive from the city, nor if you are frugal.
If you have been to the real night market in Asia, you will be disappointed. The food looks good but lacks authenticity, you just have to be careful what to order. Overall it's a good hangout spot. Their store sign is white on white background, so you might not see it if you drive too fast.
Really busy on Saturday. Ordered curry beef brisket with rice, curry pork skins, and cold milk tea. A bit expensive as it came out to be $15. The curry flavor and spiciness of the pork skins was wonderful, however can't say the same about the curry brisket. Seems they don't use the same curry sauce. The milk tea is just ok. The bbq pork with rice noodle my friend ordered was also very good but small since it was an appetizer. Grilled chicken on a stick wasn't bad. Sister order beef brisket noodle salad, i tasted it and thought it was noodle soup but I'm like why is it tangy she then told me it was salad, i didn't care for it.
Very expensive basic HK dishes. $17 for a rice plate? Food was decent but I think there is MSG in the food. OVerall, meh.
It's pricey for mediocre food and portion. I wanted milk pudding (T8) but they were out and so I got Silken Tofu pudding (T3) which was soft tofu with simple syrup...without the syrup, it did not taste like a dessert at all. There was also an after taste so I was disappointed.
Warning for parents: menu items do not state if dish is spicy. Popcorn chicken, XO noodles were too spicy, even for me and I like a lot of spice. Cashier saw we had kids and said nothing 😑 That said, food was ok. XO noodles needed more sauce, less oil. Popcorn chicken needed more salt, less chili powder. Boba pearls are a tad hard. Can totally skip the noodles soup 🫣 I appreciate having places like this nearby but with a few tweaks it could be much better.
I had the beef chow fun. Although the flavor was good and they gave lots of beef, mine was a little tough and that is why I gave three stars on the food, maybe mine is an isolated incident. The prices are like San Francisco which is where I live but the location is in South San Francisco and the prices are slightly higher than average for out lying cities. If you've been to an Asian "Street" night market in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tai Pei or similar, the name conjures up small rickety tables and chairs for "temporary" locations and there are some temporary "token" chairs and tables in front of the store you might find in an Asian street night market. There is also a dessert place next door or in the same structure. The outdoor atmosphere here is clean like an American standard restaurant or fast food place and ideal for warm weather. They also have limited indoor seating. The menu is very large and the time from purchase to walking away with pick up for a single item is fair.
Pros: Love the menu, I think it’s very interesting and brought back memories when I was in night market back in china/hk/taiwan. Price were not bad either. Cons: It took them so long to bring the first dish. We had big order and it took them 20 mins to make noodles and curry balls. The complimentary tea was amazing. Perfect sweetness and really refreshing. Food: love the bbq pork and pork belly. Unlike typical roasted pork belly that’s very fatty and almost inedible, their version is very lean, flavorful, and delicious. Curry balls: was ok, flavor’s a bit weak. Seems like it’s too watered down. Lamb fried rice: was good, but probably could go a little lighter on msg. Noodle cart: looks really good and flavorful, but could go a little thicker and bold. Chicken skin with salted egg yolk: this is the worst and most disgusting dish out of all. Not only it’s oily and overcooked, it gave me heartburn and acid reflux. I’ll skip this next time. Seating arrangements is a little small, no ac and a little bit messy but that’s probably to build the mood.
I came here about 90 mins before closing. The chicken with yellow rice (menu item R1) did not taste as good as it looked on the menu photo. The deboned chicken drumstick meat was dry and rubbery. Yellow rice was quite hard like it was undercooked or was under a heat lamp all day. The cabbage was the only item that tasted fine. I like how the place looked sanitary, especially the bathroom. The prices are overpriced considered the bad food quality. I will likely return here in the future because my European friends like this place. The music indoors is very loud. It’s difficult to have a conversation unless you are speaking into their ears. I do not recommend this place for those who have sensitive hearing. Outdoors seating is less noisy but cold.

I want so much to like this place but every time I go it's a solid meh. Kudos to the next generation for making something happen but there's so much potential if they stepped up their game a bit more. The best way for me to describe it is the food is cooked traditionally, but not in a good way. For example, my parents both got a beef dish which is traditionally cooked with poor cuts of stewed meats. As expected, it was prepared this way. The unfortunately thing about this is it's prepared like my grandma would without and culinary education so the meat was stringy and tough. For the price, it wouldn't hurt to use slightly better meat, cut against the grain so it's not so stringy, and I suspect it was cooked with a pressure cooker rather than slow cooked. This is because the tissue was broken down but the muscle fibers were still tough giving you what I can only describe as "meat spaghetti". Traditional maybe, but unpleasant. Stewing, slow cooking over night, or a better cut would give you a better texture, but I get it - the bay is expensive. Just disappointed at the unmet potential. Staff is polite though and there's rarely a wait, and it's clean and convenient. It's just a great concept and I keep wishing I could give it more stars.

Place is outstanding. Great food selections at great prices. Only downfall are the plastic chairs and slow service. Mind you it's an experience so the chairs are part of the atmosphere. But I prefer a soft cushy chair. Food suggestion - (CART NOODLE ) thick noodle with 2 servings of beef brisket and beef ball. AMAZING! Update - Sept 17th. Visited again... service has gotten worse. Avoid this place
The way the restaurant is set up is very reminiscent of Taipei night markets. Unfortunately the popcorn chicken is not good, the one I got to go literally had no seasoning, I had to ask them for sauce - had I gone home right away it would literally be bland. The photo has basil in it, the chicken had nothing… the two sauces they gave me were also not good. My friend likes other dishes here but I feel like popcorn chicken is so simple idk if I’d come back Jasmine milk tea reminds me of the OG milk teas
The atmosphere is good but not the food nor the price. As a Cantonese, I wouldn’t suggest going. -Cart noodles: the pig knuckle tastes like soup water. The noodles come in a big portion (a plus) but the overall taste is not good nor as expected. -beef tripe: no other taste than oil.. the restaurant should filter the water out -pudding cakes: the mixture can be mixed better. The texture is just not right. I can make better ones at home honestly -shrimp dumpling: is the only ok one but it’s too overpriced. We try way better ones for $5.50 In conclusion, if you just want a night market vintage photo, it is a good place to go. But if you want quality Hong Kong food, reconsider…
