I grabbed a quick coffee before starting the tour of the lake. Spectacular place, but it needs more upkeep. Very clean.

Quiet and unpretentious, a classic village bar, the atmosphere is just that, so if you're expecting a trendy establishment with uniformed waiters and handheld order takers, well, no; but I did enjoy a delicious, still-handmade hot chocolate, at a very reasonable price, on the shore of the frozen lake.

The vintage furnishings could use some updating or maintenance, which is a shame because the lakeside terrace is stunning. The place could potentially be a top-notch venue, but it would just need a little more attention and care, including in the service. I hope this review inspires improvement, but it all depends on the owners' will.

Friendliness is the first thing you want to find in a bar.... Unfortunately, we didn't find it here. If you move a chair just to one corner of the table, all hell breaks loose...

To get to the sentinel you have to go down to the lake at the traffic light of the San Carlo Hotel (closed). We stopped for breakfast, the location is directly on the lake where the water reaches the building, in front of which ducks and swans swim, there is so much peace, silence and tranquility, the view is thrilling, green mountains, trees, a well-kept and clean lakeside promenade with benches. It's a shame that this little place that acts as the entrance to the lakeside promenade is spartan, unkempt, let down, it would take little. It is frequented by elderly men who spend the day chatting with the owners. The owner who served us was nice and kind.

The atmosphere was anything but friendly and sunny. The only nice thing about the place was its small terrace overlooking the lake with a few umbrellas (although the chairs and tables were worn and quite dirty). When we arrived, the bar was deserted, and the young woman working there insisted on letting us sit under the scorching sun because the tables under the umbrellas all seated four, and there were only two of us. Then a lady came over and huffed and puffed and moved us under an umbrella. After us, another group arrived, making the same scene with them and then rightfully left for another bar. Furthermore, when we left, the bar was still deserted, so there was no need to vacate the tables for four.
