Opinions de Jamaican Flavors Springfield Gardens
I have family visiting from out of state. One of my relatives wanted some oxtails, so we went by and picked up oxtail dinners. They enjoyed that dinner so much. You guys are awesome. Continue doing what you do and don't change anything. Stay blessed
The food was delicious and well seasoned, True Jamaican flavors well presented they labeled everything and just made it easy for our guests Each person ate twice and still took home food! All the containers were empty!!! Yum! Or should I say “Laud the food good man”🤣 sincere thanks
Food is 10/10 it reminds you of what good jamaican food tastes like!! Dem a run Tastee foot hot 🔥 with their patties, too.
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 15years and this place is my go too. Be prepared to wait though if you go at a prime time like the evenings or weekend. I have had the entire menu and nothing disappoints. The sweet chili shrimp though is a favorite! The mac and cheese is bomb! And the jerck chicken made on the pan, you can't beat.
I have been going to this place since it touch ground. Years ago. When I come home from North Carolina to New York I always make sure I go yeah I never skip a chance. In all the years that it's been here it never ever disappoints.
Well-known lunch and dinner restaurant. Good food, delightful service. The menu is filled with Scrumptious Extras: Lunch for 2 at an inexpensive price.
My go-to whenever I'm in the area and hungry!! Hands down the BEST store made oxtails I've ever had! This time I and I got some carrot juice too, and man, it tasted just like what my grandmother used to make us! SO good! Worth the money spent!!
I usually go here for the boneless chicken meal but sometimes I like to come here for some fish. When that red snapper is there I get it for my mom because she loves it. The line here can be pretty much of a wait during peak time it could lead outside the door. The staff there are nice and friendly, good service. Chicken soup taste good here.
I can't lie, the food quality has been stellar for the 10 plus years I've been coming to this establishment. ALWAYS. GREAT. That is rare. I suggest you try everything at least once. Thank me later.
Food was great we ordered the fry chicken with rice and peas and salad. We originally wanted B-B fry but there was none . We got mild beef , ackee , vegetable and chicken patties as well. They were a little small and needed some more filling but they were tasty.
Jamaican Flavors has never failed me. Over the years, whether it was a quick single meal because I didn’t feel like cooking or catering family event, the service has always been top tier. My family esp especially love that they have an economic option that serves about 8 and you can add (2) protein, a starch, a veggie and everyone gets a slice of cake and it comes with (2) large drinks. There’s always so much food left over after everyone eats. Can’t beat it. The space is small and accommodates about 6 customers tailgating each other to get to the counter. Once you accomplish that, it moves along pretty quickly. The workers are nice and it’s seamless. The hot counter offers all your major Caribbean staples: jerk chicken (boneless and bone on) , shrimp, curry chicken, curry goat, etc. They also have about (2) soup options daily and your baked goods like beef patty and coco bread. No review would be complete without the honorable mention of the Rasta pasta which you can get with or without added options of jerk chicken or shrimp. Baybeeee, let me tell you, this plate is KING. It’s like a warm hug that puts you to sleep. At checkout you can add slices of cake or your fresh juices. My go to is a refreshing cucumber ginger that just hits every time. Great food at good cost and with excellent service.
Food is the best ever! All of the food for the chain is made here! However the neighborhood is not safe any more! Not that it used to be safe but it was doable. I have not been in a while. I go to the one in Long Island now. Best jerk chicken ever! Long long waits though!
The food is good. Roti is always on point. I try something different every time I go. I was a little disappointed with the barbecue chicken it was dry. It did not taste fresh. I hope it wasn't the fry chicken from the day before with BBQ sauce added. Other than that the food is good. Most importantly the staff is polite.
Excellent Jamaican food. Don't sleep on the chicken soup! Oxtail rice and peas Mac n cheese cabbage. EVERYTHING IS GOOD HERE. PATTIES TOO LOVE THE CHICKEPEA PATTIES TOO.
Disgusted that they changed how the make curry chicken. It’s too DAM hot to enjoy. Going back to Golden Krust !!! :( my fav is curry chicken. But thumbs up for the rest of the menu I guess??? Went allllll the way back to the restaurant and changed my dish. Horrible!!!
The best Jamaican take out. Full stop 🛑
We ordered from the catering package online and everything was perfect. It was easy to order, easy to pick-up. The plus is that the food was packed in boxes and ready to go when we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and tasty. My guests raved about their meals all event long. Thank you Jamaican Flavors for your service, we appreciate your services and look forward to future orders. Highly recommended!
Found on Google while in NY buying a car. Line was long but they moved quick and efficient. I ordered one small sweet chili shrimp with cabbage and a small boneless jerk chicken, rice and peas, steamed cabbage with 2 small ginger and pineapple homemade juice for about $35. My husband enjoyed his meal, I loved the sweet chili shrimp! But the cabbage had zero flavor...like I couldn't taste any seasoning. I'm a Caribbean cabbage girl so I was hype to eat it. Perfect crunch and veggies but no taste. Besides that everything else was good. Slightly higher prices than Philly Jamaican dishes but it's NY so it's whatever I'll spend it. Lady at cashier was friendly and not with an attitude rushing people cause their crowded. I would go back again if I'm around.
I’m super picky about my soup. I usually order from another place but they were closed today. I’m proud to say I didn’t regret my choice. I order on Uber eats and asked for less dumpling and they complied. Broth wasn’t over greasy, carrots cooked to perfection and the chicken was great. Definitely found a new place to add to favorites.
Food was really good and they were playing some banger holy music lol. It took really long to process my order, basically this lady skipped ahead of me on paying and took so long. Neighborhood feels sketchy with some guy asking for money right outside the store. Near the Tesla chargers which makes it convenient to go to as an EV driver. Will come back if I can.
The curry goat is to die for. Everything on the menu u is always fresh and hot also the jerk chicken and sweet chilli shrimp is good .
Local favorite. Just depends on the time of day how quickly the transaction will happen. Would love to see more smiles from both sides of the counter. That said, they make some of the best coco bread and other traditional Jamaican food. Mostly order for delivery but this was one of those happened to be in the neighborhood moments. #LocalGem #GoodEats #theresthatfoodie #AVTeats
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this! I thought it would be greasy but it wasn't at all. Lines can get long at this place with many cars double parked outside so do keep that in mind before going. Had the meal for two and the combo was tasty and affordable. Jerk Chickennnnnnnn! Mac and Cheeseeeeeeee! Will be going back for a late night meal soon. The two cake slices I got were moist and just the right portion. Blue Velvet Cake Slice Pina Colada Cake Slice

Was a bit crowded. The food was exceptionally delicious. Had the snapper, peas n rice, beef patty (meh), shrimp 😁 and pineapple ginger juice ( banging). Service was quick efficient. They wore masks and gloves and cashier has nothing to do with food.
This is a pretty good location but logistics wise on a busy day they basically suck. If you are trying to order just a patty you still have ti stand in line with those who are ordering food. It's so stupid and a waste of time. You could literally cut you lines in half but managment doesn't seem to care to change it.
The food, & service are above average. But the prices run about 20% higher than what i would expect to pay.
The food was very good, and to my surprise, very affordable for the huge portions. They made me a fan of their sweet chili shrimp, & this location has some great chicken soup. I can't wait to try more of their food options. The service was quick & prompt. The place was crowded upon initial entry, but they breezed thru all the orders with swiftness & great customer service skills. I would definitely recommend & shall patronize again myself.
Food is great but like most Carribean restaurants zero customer service or friendliness. Unfortunately the food is always great but if they attitude matched the food chile they get negative stars. And it was affordable especially with inflation they managed to still give you a solid helping of food.
Used them to cater a party. The food was on time and hot. The oxtails could have been a little more tender but had great flavor. Everything else was really good, even the cakes. The price was reasonable. The food was plentiful.
Their rice and peas doesn't have many peas in it anymore and that's sucks because nothing else they make except the Cabbage has much fiber. The rice and peas is mediocre. Spring valley next door has better rice.
Seeing the line out the door tells you everything you need to know 😂 I absolutely love the curry goat and white rice. And also the rasta pasta with the sweet chilli shrimp!!!! Mmmmmm!

This restaurant has good food and the service was good, it get busy over the especially around dinner time, which makes sense. My friend loved her curry chicken roti, definitely worth trying.
I ordered a medium tray of sweet chili wings which were delicious and a medium tray of reggae pasta with chicken I wish I took a picture the pasta sauce was watery, five pieces of chicken meat, and a lot of chopped-up peppers. I don't if they rush making the reggae pasta but it was a waste of money because no one was at the party so I attempted to eat but ended up throwing it away. I made my order Friday at 2 pm and told them I need the next day by 2 pm and they confirm everything would be ready.
Food is good but the service has much to be desired, not everyone though. Also the accommodations for customers not so good. If it's raining and there's a line you're probably going to get wet. Useto purchase patties but it's seem as if using the tongs is frown upon
The line goes out the door. One would then think the food is stellar. Nope! I haven't figured out why. Maybe the cost? Maybe it's the best available in this area? Dunno.. though I'm curious. - People are nice. - Service is ok. - Parking is scarce Someone please explain..
They only reason I am giving a 3 star rating is because of the workers attitude. I have gone to this Springfield Blvd location multiple times and on 2 occasions the cashier workers have given me attitude. Ordered my food and once I got to the register I realized I wanted a beef patty....... The attitude I got from the worker was like I had asked her to serve me the entire menu..... In addition to this we as customers are unable to fully see what food they have behind the counter and then they want to rush you. The food is a 5 , but the customer service unfortunately gets a 2, 2 1/2. Places like this need to do better, and stop treating other people better than their own ..... WE pay their bills not them.
As a regular, I must say that the customer service today was TERRIBLE! I placed an order which included a side of macaroni and cheese. I watched the man place it in the container and put it on the counter next to the register. I get home to serve my son dinner, only to find that there was no baked mac. I call and they didn't answer (as usual). So I then had to bring my son with me to go back to the store so that he could have dinner before doing homework. I drive all the way there, just for them to ask for the receipt and say that I was never charged. So basically, the person took my order correctly, served it correctly, but the person who rang me up didn't include the whole order although she asked and I SAID AND THE SIDE OF MACARONI. Then I have to burn gas to go back and get it and they couldn't even compensate. Just terrible. There were other instances in the past but I didn't post because I noticed in time to catch it. But this was just ridiculous. They need to do better.
My husband always goes in to get the food. Today, I went in. The food is always tasteful. However customer service skills not to good. You want to keep your customer coming so learn to be a little more pleasant. At least play nice when you are trying to get in people pockets. I'm just saying a little kindness goes a long way. Smile a little...
I visited this place on July 28. If ordering the coco bread and beef patties, in my opinion, they are not like they used to be. The patties were semi overcooked and the coco bread somewhat hard. Unfortunately I did not check the order thoroughly before leaving the store. I won't make that mistake again, because I'll make them give me a replacement. I also ordered a small saucy shrimp, only shrimp, container and the container was not full to capacity. There was room for at least three more shrimp, and for the price, the amount of shrimp, with room left over in the container, was unacceptable. Thank goodness the shrimp was good, that's the only consolation! Btw, this visit was mid-afternoon on that day.
Mac n cheese is horrible and the Rasta pasta is bland not tasty …. It used to be soooo good I guess they changed recipe or Chef 🧑🏾🍳 So dissatisfied
1st thing to know before going, it’s ALWAYS crowded & no parking…staff is always rushing customers, if you’re a 1st time visitor, you barely get to check out the food before someone starts yelling at you to order. I usually get the shrimp and pasta, but this trip the pasta was very different, it was watery and tasteless. As if they washed out one of those Ravi sauce bottles(that I use at home) to make the Alfredo sauce. The food is not very consistent and that’s something they need to work on.
The parking situation outside is ridiculous. I purchased a reggae pasta and one beef patty. The reggae pasta was good but seemed to have little to no chicken inside The beef patties are good as well. Would I come back? No parking is inadequate and leaves your vehicle in compromised locations.
Cram inside and place an order. Your plating, portion, pricing and even professionalism may all depend on who is serving you and at which location. If you're Jamaican you'll get the best everything. I don't think they care for us local black folk tho. Sadly.
The food is good. However, the service has gone down. The lines are long at times (which can be understandable) and by the time you get to the window to order your food your met with nasty attitudes. I'm the one paying my money to them and to have a server with an attitude that then doesn't give me the proper portions due to the nasty demeanor is ridiculous! It's not like this all the time but they need to do better PERIOD! The amount of cars that are always dbl parked there the store can afford AC in the place so the workers and customers can both be comfortable.
Great food, but the serving lady was rushing and has zero patience. She made a sour face when I asked her for another spoon. Mind you, I was the only customer in there at 9AM, so why we rushing and being rude?? In terms of the food, I definitely recommend the chicken pattie. Mouthwatering!! Delicious rice and curry chicken too.
The only thing I enjoyed from there was they're mac and cheese and rice and peas. The beef patty was delicious as well. However, the jerk chicken tasted more like BBQ Chicken than jerk. And I wish I could tell you how the plantains tasted but they ignored our request to put it in the platter. In other words, the service was terrible. You feel rushed and they don't even complete your order appropriately. Wouldn't go back there, not worth the wait on the line.
I always get takeout here and the food is consistently good. But I went in the morning at 9am to buy Breakfast and they were serving lunch. ZERO BREAKFAST. So I didn't have a good experience this day. I was mad too because I drove past several restaurants to get to them and they had ZERO breakfast food at 9am. Be warned, the lines here is out the door 12pm - 5pm so if you are in a rush this is not the place to go. Lots of patience required.
Overall I love the food but I gave 1 star for service and service in my opinion is very important. With that being said, it's this young light skined female with glasses kinda tall that treated me with such bad customer service raised her voice very loud when i in fact was very polite when asked for one extra vegetable. I hope that she count her blessings and put her self in other people shoes 🙏🏽
Food was very good, however I waited over 3 hrs to pick up my catering order which was supposed to be ready at 5pm
Ordered through Door Dash and was not happy! The beef patties and coco bread were decent. The oxtail along with steamed veggies were disgusting. The sad part is I ordered 2 large oxtail meals. We couldn't finish the first and had to throw away the 2nd. The sugar buns does not look like what's advertised. What I got was bread that had sugar sprinkled over it. I was hoping the food would have been better at this location, but now I see it is the entire franchise serving horrible foods.
Oxtail they don't give you good pieces they give bone but I expect that from them . Rasta pasta too milky and they advertise chicken in the pasta but don't add
I catered my anniversary. Very simple large pan of jerk wings. I asked for them to be CUT they were not! Large white rice and large rice and peas. The food was tasty! The customer service was atrocious. I called a total of 15 times. Some times my call was put on hold, others sent to voice mail, sometimes not even answered. When it was answered it took them 2 days to FIND my on line order. I had to keep calling to check on receipt of my order. Every one seemed confused! Ohhhh my event was July 23. I paid on line July 18. When arrived for a 1:30 pick up at 2:15 they were still packing up the food. I waited outside for 15 min. After reminding the girl that I was waiting she asked me to come in. I waited another 15 min for them to find a box for the food. No one said , I'm sorry for the delay, is there anything I could get you for the inconvenience , thanks for choosing us... NOTHING!!!!! Not sure if it was worth all the hassle. They definitely need to work on their ON LINE catering communications & customer service!
The food is ok, only thing their red pea soup they don't put meat it in half of the time so you taking a chance with your money.
I used to really love this place. But lately the food hasn't been the best. Specifically the rice. That can make or break a meal. I recently got oxtail and white rice, and while the oxtail was good the rice was not. It was overcooked, had no salt and no garlic powder. Just the way you make the rice needs to be addressed.
The food is good at this place but it seems as if they can NEVER get it 100 percent correct, you have to check your bags and receipt before you leave because they’re either handing you someone else’s order or not completely filling your request. You can beg and beg for gravy and you still wouldn’t get any. Why do these people act like it’s coming out of their checks. I have to limit my visits to this place. It’s really aggravating eating dry rice every time I order my food…
Jamaican Flavors is trying to dig more into people's pockets like unfortunately other businesses are too. For some reason when you order their pasta they add on $2 extra charge. I'm not sure why si…
i used to love this place and all my out of town friends just had to come at least once but in the last month and a half it just doesn’t taste the same . must be a new cook but the food is extremely spicy and my boyfriend called it nasty and couldn’t finish after two bites. Disappointed after years of coming here religiously i think i may have to find a new spot. I would have gave it zero stars if i could. no one could eat it
I order 3 containers of food no forks no sponge also they rushing
Beware of this scamming location on merrick Blvd. The workers don’t even know the price for the large shrimp w rice and peas then came back to say it’s $21. The large shrimp at another location is $17 so I wanna know what’s so special about this location. Poor company that just knows how to scam people. Spend your hard working money with a different restaurant
I just left this place and spent $30 for two smalldishes.expected the food to be well seasoned and tasteful but I am extremely disappointed folks please do not waste your money here. You are serving folks who know what good food should taste like do do your job and serve seasoned food. The rice was dry and tasteless, the whiting was fresh no seasoning the the pasta was totally tasteless all of this for $30??
I had Jamaican Flavors catered my Daughter Baby Shower, I Spent $1825.00 on the food with the Delivery fee included. The food was Suppose to Arrive at 5:15 pm, The Delivery guy didn’t arrive until 7:47pm. My Event Started at 4pm to 11pm. Jamaican Flavors brought my food 2 hours and 37 minutes late. I will never use them again. The food was good but the delivery time was unacceptable. When I call the Manager that Monday to complain about it, She apologized about it but then tell me that they did me a favor because they don’t deliver? So I asked her if your establishment doesn’t deliver why was I charged delivery fee?She couldn’t answer that. I will never use this establishment again to Cater food. To be honest the Apology the Manager gave me, I felt it wasn’t sincere. This establishment is in Springfield Queens
I ordered oxtail, peas and rice. The rice was soft like mash potatoes and the oxtail was very disappointing; it had absolutely no taste. I attempted to eat it but I couldn’t so I ended up throwing it in the garbage. Please use more seasoning, oxtail is known for a tasteful meat.
I see no one takes pride in their jobs anymore. I went here today and asked for one mild and one spicy beef patty. This fool failed to label on the bag which one was which! It caused a problem once I got home, for one person I gave it to can't each spicy. These workers need to pay attention to details. Needless to say, I will never come here again!
This Jamaican flavor on Springfield Garden is the worst Jamaica flavor I ever been to they do not appreciate the customers. They treat their customer as nobody. The food is terrible. The servers are horrible and it makes the food taste yucky waste of my time.
Service is extremely terrible, this location has been open for years and still hasn’t made changes to adjust the heavy flow of traffic, very disappointing to say the least. We’ve supported this business for years and the least they can do is make their place of business accommodating for the customers.
This place hands down use to be the BEST ever. I went there for dinner last night 5/2/23 and I was not impressed. I spent $37 and the only thing that was good like always were the sweet and spicy wings. The sweat and spicy shrimps was dry and rubbery. The Rasta pasta was watery, didn't have any flavor and tasted like no name brand jar Alfredo sauce. They stopped making real jerk chicken on the bone now you get dry chicken breast strips in a overly sweat sauce. They are over priced and the food is not giving what it use to give.
This was my first time going in this restaurant. I haven’t eaten the food yet but the service was terrible. I interacted with two people and they were both aggressive and incredibly rude. I asked for a large oxtail, the guy said “WITH WHAT?!” like 5x. At the register, I asked to add on a cake, the lady is going on like “GIVE ME THE CAKE GIVE ME THE CAKE” I was really polite and it wasn’t a good experience. I’ll update with the taste of the food but it doesn’t matter. I wont be back because of the service. I know the city is fast paced but I can’t stand bad service.
This place has become so money hungry it’s disgusting. $18 for a small oxtails and then they charge $4 extra if you want pasta instead of rice and veggies. It use to be a $2 upcharge but she tells my husband since its oxtails its $4 FOH….. and the portion size for $18 ridiculous better off going to spring garden down the block…. I told my husband he should have left the food right there.
Usually the food and experience is good. This time I asked for more meat and vegetables in the red pea soup. The server stopped and just stared at me like she wanted to come from behind the counter and fight me. So I took the soup and left. Needless to say. This one piece of meat 🍖 makes me not want to go back there.
Had a 500 dollar order and had to wait 45 minutes after time i needed it .. awful customer service. Was given nothing for the inconvenience. Never again. But the way they treat customer's they don't care.
I just ate from here. I don’t know who is cooking in the back but this is not curry. Dey flavors are not there. They over charged me for a small curry goat which was more oil than curry and was NOT GOOD at all. The roti was also very pale and under cook. I will not be patronizing them anymore. If you want good food go to St.Best or any other place besides them.
I purchased the $239 catering package for Christmas dinner. When you receive your order, they place the pans in a box for you to carry. Works perfectly. However, they did not give us the macaroni and cheese or the festival despite listing it off in the box. The Vegetarian Rasta Pasta was plain noodles and some thrown vegetables, not even some seasoning—my Jamaican father, a pescatarian, asked for tartar sauce for the escovitch whiting. Now you know that's a problem! The separate small pan of oxtail tasted like nothing but garlic. Never Ever Again! A waste of money
Stew chicken was burnt , dry, bitter and salty. I could eat it. I had to throw it in the garbage at stop and shop
I’ve stopped here many times when visiting family in New York, so this visit was really disappointing. My family and I ordered the patties, and unfortunately they were not good at all and didn’t meet the quality we remembered from past visits. Because of this experience, we don’t plan on returning. Hoping this was just an off day, but it was a big letdown for us.
I would see this place jam packed while driving by with cars double parked everywhere. I figured that meant the food is good…nope! I got a curry and jerk chicken patty, both were flavorless. Right now, I’m currently sick from the food I ordered. I am 100% never coming back here
Why is it so hard to add sauce requested to the meals when food is ordered on DoorDash? Just dry chicken and fries? And are the big straws short or am I to open the drink with my teeth?
Food taste HORRIBLE now. And how they give you a plate of rice with damn near no oxtails and no sauce to go over that crap. Food was good before, so we dealt with the attitude but we shouldn't have to. Now service is straight trash. Have to go back to cooking at home.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience ordering from Jamaican Flavors on Springfield , the food from the restaurant was unacceptable. I ordered a veggie patty, and it was burnt, rock hard, and tasted like it had been sitting for days. The rice and peas had a strong, old smell, the kind you get when rice is no longer fresh. Because of this, I could not eat the food at all. What made this experience even more frustrating is that I tried calling the restaurant numerous times to report the issue, and no one answered the phone. There was no way to speak to anyone or get the situation addressed. Selling food that is clearly not fresh is concerning and feels like a health risk. People can get sick from food like this. I am submitting photos to show the condition of what was sent to me. This was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend ordering from here. You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves for selling trash!
I was so excited to have a patty with coco bread since I’ve lived here before the gentrification. To my disappointment, the price gouging with the lack of care has struck this place as well. I got the chickpea patty with coco bread. Not only has the price doubled for a patty & coco bread, the chickpea patty was DRIER than the Sahara Dessert! I denied paying $1.50 for a regular Poland Spring bottle of water because I could get a liter of water from a bodega with that price but there isn’t one in close proximity. I’m convinced that they dry patties so we could buy their expensive water. I threw it in the trash where it belongs. Not coming back! If I’m going to have a cheat meal, it should AT LEAST be satisfying. Furthermore, if I wanted a dry patty I would have gotten one from the Golden Crust. Just highly disappointed and disgusted 🤮😡
Thoroughly disappointed with the presentation and taste of my meal. I ordered Manish water and to my surprise, it was the most flavorless soup I’ve ever had from such an established restaurant. It’s almost as if they used water to stretch the soup. There was no meat in it either. The container was quite questionable because I did not expect to have my soup served in a To Go Coffee cup that you’d Pick up from the deli. This should not be $14 on Uber at all.
