Opinions de Opera Cafe & Lounge Staten Island
We ordered the menemen (veggie scrambled eggs), golzeme (stuffed flatbread), chicken Adana (sausage with salad and bulgur), Veggie and cheese pide (bread boat), and Crime of Passion teapot. The food was delicious, tea was very mild and herbal, and filling without feeling uncomfortable. I only regret not buying the kanefeh (because my stomach was too full :) )The environment is gorgeous and staff were pleasant and accommodating. We had a great experience here, would highly recommend!
my family and i come to this place very often. food is very delicious and good size of portions. service is great all the guys are very friendly and attentive. i would highly recommend this place.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely amazing Turkish restaurant! The food was authentic, fresh, and full of rich flavors. The kebabs were perfectly cooked, the rice was delicious, and the baklava was outstanding. Everything tasted just like real Turkish cuisine. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere made me feel comfortable and relaxed. If you’re looking for true Turkish food, this is the place. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back!
Very nice place with a great atmosphere. The restaurant is clean, service is friendly and fast. The food is fresh and very tasty, especially the Turkish dishes. Good place to come with friends or family. I will definitely come back again.
Every time I run in for lunch while I’m working they take care of me quickly because I have an hour. The chicken soup is excellent. The 2 for 25$ lunch special is a must. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken, the falafel platter, the lovely warm bread, Turkish tea! Everything is very good!!
Excellent food. Service was excellent as well . My wife and I use to go to the Brooklyn location. Since they opened on Staten Island. Go there . Overall very delicious.
As soon as we enter we’re greeted by the friendliest waiter Azad! My husband, daughter & I come to this location often. Azad is extremely attentive & brings anything to keep my 2 year old occupied. He makes sure our food comes out right, on time, and puts her food in ASAP. The ambience is great, the atmosphere feels like we’re at home and the service from Azad is a 1000/10.
Had a Great Turkish breakfast in a cozy, welcoming place. A true Turkish hospitality! The food was fresh, flavorful, and served as a generous breakfast spread that felt truly authentic. Chef Serkan clearly puts care into every dish, everything tasted so delicious and fresh made by him. Suleyman was also excellent: friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed with all smiles. Overall, a really enjoyable breakfast and a spot I’d happily recommend to anyone craving a proper Turkish morning meal.
We weren’t exactly sure what kind of restaurant it was but took a chance and went. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was so beautiful. The manager took time to speak with us while we were waiting for our food and when we were leaving. We ordered hummus and balloon bread ( light and airy pita) as appetizer. Delicious. Also ordered fresh beet salad , lamb kebabs and chicken piccata. All were so delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant
We had a lovely meal at Opera. The atmosphere and decor are spectacular. It is like you are in a Persian palace (even though it’s Turkish). This is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Staten Island. The service is beyond perfect. The menu is extensive and you have the opportunity to try new and fabulous food!
Turkish restaurants are not uncommon on Staten Island. There are several across the island, most of them pleasant, most of them capable of surprising you on the first visit. But after trying many — here, Brooklyn, Manhattan — Opera stood apart immediately. Not just in the food, but in the way every detail of the experience felt deliberate. The kitchen is the heart of this place. Each dish arrives layered, textured, and crafted with a level of care rarely seen. Even the small accompaniments — sauces, sides, condiments — show technique and intention. We ordered more than six dishes, and every single one was executed precisely. Flavors were balanced, textures correct, nothing overlooked. Even their rice pilaf, often treated as an afterthought elsewhere, was exceptional. Service was its own standard. From the moment we arrived, the staff operated with quiet attention — present without hovering, subtle without disappearing. Plates replaced before you noticed, utensils refreshed at perfect intervals, a warm towel offered after the mains, a clean napkin placed without interrupting conversation. Drinks and dishes arrived at temperatures that showed the kitchen and floor staff were aligned. My beef shish was a perfect example. It’s a dish that many places mishandle — dry, over-marinated, or unevenly cooked. Here it was everything it should be: proper temperature, clean grill marks, a true Maillard sear, and a marinade that unfolded with every bite, offering layer after layer of flavor. Even substitutions were handled thoughtfully. I preferred a shepherd’s salad instead of the house salad that came with my entrée, and it was offered immediately without hesitation — freshly made, balanced, and plated with care. Their Turkish tea surpassed the quality of the premium teas I buy for home, and that alone says a lot about their sourcing. The bar was equally competent, producing drinks with accuracy and consistency. The décor is warm and beautifully arranged — traditional lamps, a well-kept wine display, and a comfortable, polished dining room. Parking was plentiful and easy. Salomon, the head waiter, was exceptional — calm, attentive, communicating with his team quietly and effectively. The entire staff works in a way that feels synchronized, almost seamless. This is the type of restaurant you return to — not because of novelty, but because of consistency, craft, and respect for the food they serve. Opera will become a regular stop for me.
Stopped by after my daughter’s basketball game. Got a warm welcome and even got the eat I requested. I was in full view of the oven where they make the hot bread that’s to die for. I had the virgin mojito. Refreshing and not too sweet. My dinner choice. The lamb chops opted for fries and not rice. They were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. My husband had the Mix Pide. A thick-crust pide loaded with chopped beef, Turkish beef sausage, vegetables, mozzarella cheese and spices. The portions are generous and the staff all work well together and they check in frequently. The best part it does not break the bank. This was my 3rd time and they have been consistent each time. Added to rotation.
I had such a fantastic experience with Opera Café Lounge Restaurant! From the very start, their service stood out everyone is incredibly kind and helpful, patiently answering my questions and making sure my order was just right. If you’re visiting, do yourself a favor and try the lamb döner wrap in their freshly made Turkish bread. It’s truly something special — the bread is baked on demand, soft and warm, and the lamb döner is cooked perfectly every time. The combination of that fluffy bread with their consistently high-quality, flavorful meat is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this spot for anyone who loves authentic, freshly made food and genuinely friendly service!
So happy my coworker recommended this place. My family & I had lunch here and we were not disappointed. We ordered grilled branzini filet & octopus salad for entrees. Branzini goes so good with a Peroni, btw. Kids ordered from the kids menu, chicken shish & chicken fingers. For starters we ordered the 3 cheese pide & cigar rolls. Both very good. Food came out quick & hot and the balon pita was 👌. Overall I would highly recommend Opera for the delicious food, great ambience & extra friendly service. Shout out to Suleyman, our server for a solid experience!
First time at this location (have been dozens of times at original location in Brooklyn) and I loved it. The service here is better than in Brooklyn and I found the atmosphere to be more welcoming and nicer, as well! The food is very good -- we got the mixed grill, which is a mix of different meats (beef, lamb, chicken) in different styles - kebabs, mini-sausage type, chops, served with rice (or fries) and a side salad. We also had the falafel balls (one of my all-time favorites from Middle Eastern cuisine -- it is just okay here), beef cigars (husband said they were good), and a baked potato with cheese and a shepherd salad on top (my go-to dish at Opera). We also were given the flatbread with our meal (Brooklyn location never did that!), which was delicious!
We dined at this Turkish restaurant tonight and had an amazing experience! The mixed maze plate was absolutely delicious—it gave us a perfect taste of everything, especially when paired with the warm Pita bread. The octopus salad was refreshing and flavorful. On top of the fantastic food, the service was excellent, and the drinks were great too. Highly recommend this place—we’ll definitely be back!
This newly opened cafe on Hylan offers a cozy, homey atmosphere with charming Turkish-inspired decor. The service was attentive, and the breakfast menu is diverse, though the salmon eggs Benedict was slightly on the salty side. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and we’re excited to return soon for dinner.
The food was absolutely incredible! It was an experience like no other, with flavors and combinations that were both unique and delightful. The service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and efficient, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable meal and outstanding service!
Opera Cafe Lounge has a warm, cozy vibe and offers a delicious taste of Turkish cuisine. I ordered the pancakes, and they were absolutely delicious—fluffy, chocolatey, and perfectly balanced. They come topped with fresh fruit, which added a refreshing contrast and paired beautifully with the sweetness of the pancakes. The dish is also served with ice cream (they offer different flavors), which was rich, creamy, and indulgent without being overwhelming. To drink, I had a latte that was strong, aromatic, and exactly what you want with a sweet breakfast. If you’re visiting Staten Island, this is definitely a spot you shouldn’t miss. Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and I’m already looking forward to coming back to try more.
I recently visited Opera Cafe Lounge and had a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic—each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The atmosphere was vibrant and inviting, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or a romantic evening. I especially loved the live music that added a lovely ambiance. I will definitely be coming back for more!
Nice Turkish restaurant with a full menu. Ranging from breakfast to dinner. Service is quite good. Prices are on the high side though but the quality is there. Interior looks like a classic Turkish restaurant which makes for an interesting look. Recommended
Hey, honestly I was really disappointed today. I came in for breakfast and ordered the regular bread French toast for $15. That price is really high, especially considering the bread was thin and basic—most places that charge this much use thicker, better-quality bread. Also, the service was a mix of good and bad. While some things were fine, one of the workers took my plate while I was still eating, without asking. That’s not the right way to treat customer. honestly not a good place for breakfast go to American place there breakfast is really bad
That was my first lunch in that restaurant since the branch of Opera was opened on Staten Island. Impressive interior, decor and lighting influenced by the Middle East style. It is devoted in several seating areas: one with the tables, one with the sofas and one seats by the bar. Very cozy and inviting. No loud music. Service staff were helpful, honest and not intrusive. Everything arranged for great dine in. About food. Not impressed. Arugula has a lot of yellow and unfresh leaves, cherry tomatoes were soft, the dressing was just average and salads didn’t work well as a dish and on my test were just few ingredients put on one plate. We ordered arugula salad with goat cheese and arugula salad with mozzarella and tomatoes. Honestly I don’t see why those salads have a price tag for almost $18. Adana Kebab was flavourful, well seasoned, came with same house salad and rice on the side but it was dry, because it was thin and can be easily overcooked. You have to pour the yogurt and tomato sauce on the top to make it taste better but you don’t get enough of it for two kebabs. The dish that impressed was a flat bread baked in the brick oven with tasty sauce. We didn’t try many of the dishes but the food we tried had a room for improvement. Great place, nice location and food must meet the expectations.
Opera has a nice comfortable seating, which made for a pleasant dining atmosphere. However, when it comes to the food, it was a bit of a mixed experience. For the price they charge, I expected better flavor and quality. The meat was tender but unfortunately quite bland and overly oily. The chocolate cake for dessert was dry, though the custard( Kazandibi) was delicious. The highlight of the meal was definitely the leechy jasmine tea. (It feels like warm/hot juice 😄but it was good). And one big disappointment was that they don’t have family platters (for group of 3-4 or more). It made it hard for us to order and share different dishes as a family. For a place that looks like it’s meant for families and groups, this was surprising and a bit disappointing. Overall, Opera has potential, but the food needs improvement to match its pricing.
