We had dinner here for the first time on a Wednesday night and it was great. The atmosphere is what you would expect in a Tavern or Pub in that it was casual and cozy. We ordered a bunch of apps and 2 different kinds of the roast beef sandwiches and they were all hot and delicious! Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The bar is a neat place for a drink with locals and the dining room was clean and seemed to be recently updated. They also had a larger room in the back, which was not yet open when we were there, but also seemed nice. We had quite a debate at our table about a pretzel bun v. the onion ciabatta bread, but I stand by my decision in getting the ciabatta! 😉 The apps pictured were the BBQ meatballs, poutine (tots instead of fries it usually comes with), and potato pancakes. The poutine was my favorite of the 3. I'd love to go back and try the chilli and meatloaf sandwich soon, but we were too full to get anything else this time!

We've driven by this tavern countless times and finally stopped to check out their famous roast beef. My only regret? That we didn't stop sooner! Probably the best, most flavorful roast beef sandwiches we've ever had! YUM!

Fantastic! Came for lunch with some friends, and it definitely called for more visits! I just had to visit a few more times! The roast beef is on point, no pun intended! The appetizers also hit the spot! If you are in the area looking for a great lunch or just in need of an ice-cold beverage, I would definitely not miss this place! I highly recommend getting any sandwich on the fresh onion chibatta roll!

When it comes to food, I am a big food snob. I've been living in Staten Island for 34 years and I passed this place when it was Rusty's a million times. I met a colleague of mine for drinks and food here and it did not disappoint. The prices were fair, the place was new and fresh, inclusive of the bathroom (this is very important LOL). The drinks had a generous pour of booze and the food was excellent. Reading thru some of the bad reviews, they may have had a couple of off nights however none of them made sense to me. We both ordered a roast beef sandwich. I had the South Shore. It was fantastic. The beef was juicy, the bread fresh, everything was great. In addition to a pair of roast beef sandwiches, we ordered a hot pretzel and the apple-cinnabon dessert. Everything was great. In addition to this, we got to chat with Edward who had just started his shift serving us animals (he was a gentleman) as well as Rusty (former owner of Rusty's) who gave us a little history lesson on the transition of Rusty's to Point Tavern. I will definitely be back again as it was a good place to have a drink or have some drinks and grab some good pub food. There is a bar area, separate dining area as well as an outdoor space. The surrounding streets offer ample street parking.

Wow great place, new owners, completely remodeled inside and out, right across from the school. Great place for teachers to go for happy hour. Great country singer tonight, line dancing, awesome back room!!! You have to check it out, great atmosphere, and drinks with a good bar food menu to match. Give it a try.

Nicely done interior, warm and inviting. Friendly service and best of all was the roast beef sandwich complete with dunking and slaw. One of the best sandwiches on the island. Looking forward to returning to the Ol stomping grounds again!

The Point is a nice new gem on Girest Avenue. It has a great atmosphere whether at the bar or dining area or more recently the outside area too The food is really good (superb roast beef) the staff is great (especially Mary). Well worth going there

This place is a huge upgrade from the past establishment. Don't get me wrong, Rusty's was a neighborhood favorite but this place is next level good. I strongly suggest the Sheppard's pie. The staff is also friendly and attentive but not overbearing.

Had a party for a co-worker. The place was immaculate. The food was delicious and staff and owners were so friendly and helpful. We sat in the outdoor room and everyone had a great time. Looking forward to going back soon.

This is a very squared-away neighborhood tavern with fantastic food and friendly people. The Point is known for their roast beef and for good reason. The first time I had the Pointer sandwich I ate the entire thing - rare for me, but it was just so delicious. And the place is immaculate; if you look behind the bar you'll see supplies neatly stowed in little plastic bins and the entire establishment is very clean.

It's a tavern with a small dining room attached. But, the service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the roast beef platter, and the food was good, I just wish there was a little more of it. My only criticism is that I wish the gravy was a thicker. But, that's my personal preference. It won't stop me from going again, nor should it stop you.

Great food selections and nice atmosphere. Very disappointed being this was my first time eating here. Sheperds pie does not call for so much black pepper and Turkey dinner shouldn't need to disguise the burnt waffle that was like a hockey puck under the Turkey. Don't expect stuffing. When I asked for a manager or the person in charge the lady said no such person this evening. Hire staff that cares about your place and food they cook to serve you customers. All the best. Not sure if I will return or recommend.

Our sandwich unfortunately came without the bacon jam and maple bourbon, which meant it was just roast beef double dunked with Gruyère cheese. Unfortunately we didn't realize it until near the end, and although our waitress apologized and brought us a side of the bacon jam, by then we only had a quarter of it left which was a bummer. The roast beef was perfectly cooked and the gravy was rich and deliciously beefy, but the extra Au jus was a bit pricy for how little it was, where it came in the same small plastic sauce container instead of a small bowl/ceramic. I'm sure this doesn't happen often that half the sandwich ingredients were left out, so I guess we were just unlucky we didn't realize sooner, but it nonetheless detracted from our experience and we were charged the full price for the meal. Overall The Point Tavern has a lot of potential of being amazing and serve probably the best roast beef in all of Staten Island; I really wish them the best with their varied roast beef selections! Ordered roast beef with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. It came with corn and watery mashed potatoes. The table was sticky too.

First thing you’ll notice is the stickiness of everything, the floor, the tables, the menu, literally every surface. First red flag was on the menu: “Bridget’s Tavern Shepherd’s Pie”. Oh you mean Bridget’s? The place that closed down two blocks away with over 110 Health Department Violations? Mmm I’m sure it’s yummy, I’ll pass. Instead I ordered the New England Clam Chowder! Within a moment the waitress retuned to let me know the Soup of The Had had “turned” in her opinion. I can see it had a long day since it was 1pm of course. The Mexican Shrimp, no doubt like the pretzel, came out of a cardboard box purchased at Costco. The Meatloaf was as dry as my mouth having never gotten timely refills. The Coca Cola was obviously Tropical Fantasy or a cheap 4th party brand. Bloody Marys were bland and basic. Very disappointing for a $100 meal. Wendy’s is a far better competitor for this level of bagged, reheated, precooked meal. One and done.

Very disappointing! I was looking forward to this place but it turned out to be a terrible meal. Sandwiches were tiny and did not come with anything else other than a spoonful of coleslaw and the best part of the dish- a pickle slice. The tater tots had a chemical taste to them, the mashed potatoes were boxed and both the turkey and stuffing were bone dry. Also worth noting is the plop of craisins dumped on top of the turkey as if they were a delicacy. Lastly, the bottled beer selection was sub par for a bar on Forest Ave. One and done for Point.

Bad experience. Hour wait for absolutely no food. Not even a piece of bread. Maybe 15 diners and you can't serve them in a timely fashion? Amateur operation. Plus a line for the bathroom. Trash. Go to Duffy's.
