Great and fresh food! I went on saturday so it was busy, so wait time for dishes to come out took some time. We did all you can eat, and for 2, spent about $70.
SUSHI BUFFET MADE TO ORDER 🍣 We wanted seafood and glad we discovered this place. At first we were going to order Cajun food but they also had an all you can eat sushi dinner that is hard to ignore because of the price. So we did that instead and glad we did. It is all you can eat but done a la carte so it is still made to order. Incredible value for sushi especially if you go with speciality rolls like soft shell crab and unagi. Interior is surpassingly nice compared to the exterior. Parking is ample. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I believe it's excellent! The all-you-can-eat option at a reasonable price allows you to sample a variety of dishes, despite the smaller plate sizes. This is beneficial as it enables you to try different foods before feeling full on a single item. However, a drawback is the 3.5% card fee charged after checking out.
Wow, this place is amazing. I honestly didn’t have super high expectations for an AYCE sushi place, but this place blew me away. The fish was fresh. The appetizers were amazing and the service was great. Most impressively was the attention to detail. I ordered the BBQ squid and it was l grilled. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
One of the best ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI & JAPANESE ENTREE Restaurants in the Hudson Valley. Luckily Rockland is home to both of my favorites. Sushi choices were varied and delicious from simple sushi rolls & sashimi to specialty roll choices. Every entree is made to order. Presentation was quite appetizing as you can see in the photos. Only drawbacks, I was not impressed with the taste of the chicken or beef skewers and the udon noodle was sadly flavorless water. The Seafood and seaweed salad was another delicious treat. They made my other Rockland choice edge ahead in choice but A.J.'S was still ONE of my favorites. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Cleanliness was good.
The food is very good. The portions are perfect so that you don't over order and leave a lot of waste, and they bring the menu repeatedly so you can pre-order as many times as you want. They have excellent appetizer, teriyaki, vegeterian and sushi options so there is something for everyone. The staff is not very friendly and I do feel like they rush you a little bit, but the presentation is excellent and so is the food. It's also BYOB so you can have some drinks while keeping the bill reasonable. Will definitely be back.
Good sushi and good service. BYOB which is always nice. We were told we couldn’t make a reservation for 2 so we came in around 7pm on Saturday and were told the wait was 25-60 minutes (what?!) - it ended up being 25 minutes. I think the sushi menu was limited compared to other places. They forgot two of the three salads we ordered. I also don’t think that some of the rolls had enough insides - for example the mistake roll hardly had any tuna inside it was basically a fried roll with rice inside.
I had to try this place once I saw it was all you can eat sushi. Today was nice and I was able to try many of the items on the menu. It’s not only sushi but kitchen items too. Everything was fresh and quick. They do wait until the serving tray is empty before giving you another slip for more. I do hate delays but it’s policy I’m sure and the food was pretty quick. As you can see by the pictures I had 3 trays of sushi and a huge food baby the rest of the day. I’ll be back for sure…
All you can eat sushi, quality of fish is not high (similar to most all you can eat sushi places), but the atmosphere is nice, and menu has a lot of different options. Even though the food quality is only average, its a fun place to go to try new things. Price is about $25 per person.
Who doesn't like a good 'all-you-can-eat'? Sometimes, despite better judgment, one just has to let their inner 'fat-kid' out and go nuts. But let's be perfectly clear on something - it is very rare should one come across an a.y.c.e. where the food is exceptional. Most a.y.c.e.'s are about pumping out lots of cheaply prepared, carb-rich, salty food that separates a fool from his dollar after just two plates. Now, if you're a seasoned buffet professional, you know all the secrets to swindling the swindlers. Start with the proteins, specifically the high-end stuff - skip all the things that are going to trip you up; rice, noodles, pastas, and breads. I like to start with the snow crab legs, lobster tails, boiled shrimp (not fried), and obviously, Prime Rib. But you won't find any of those items on the menu here. This establishment gives you two options. Just two. Sushi or Cajun. Now, I know that sounds bizarre, and it is. You can't even combine from one menu to the next. You have to make the decision whether or not you want Sushi or Cajun. Now this is a conundrum for me, because Sushi and Cajun cuisines are my favorite - so you can imagine my disappointment when I asked to do both and the waitress said I had to pick just one menu. Major Point Reduction. I went with Sushi. And the wife and I went all out. Okay, truthfully, we went overboard. The result, well... I had mixed reviews. You see, they did some things right, but mostly wrong. And they prepared a few things well, but mainly, it was kind of mediocre. We started with a Miso soup. It was tasty, but it was practically all broth and little to no tofu, scallions, and nori. Next, grilled squid, or ikayaki, in a teriyaki glaze. It was okay. But the shumai and the gyoza, now those were good (even though I think they came from a bag). Then our sushi arrived, and I realized that perhaps we had been a little overzealous, as the pictures would suggest. But I wasn't about to pay the additional fee for food wasted charge, so I soldiered on and finished my meal with zest and fervor... and immediately regretted the overexuberance of my folly. It was my first and only meal of the day. I couldn't eat another bite afterward. Now, as for the sushi. The quality of the ingredients was very good, but the preparation was lacking. The fish to rice ratio favored the rice, and the rice was underseasoned. For $28.99 per person, we pigged out - and that's okay. I was in a sushi coma by the meals end. But was it worth pig-out? My answer: sort of. Some of the rolls were very tasty, and others were bland. The fact that specialty rolls and common rolls are both included in the same price means that a diner should stick to the specialty rolls - you get a lot more value for what you are given. But if nigiri is your thing, then this place is a bit of a letdown. I was disappointed that the nigiri pieces I ordered were as bland as they were. If you're the kind of person who mixes Wasabi into your soy sauce and drowns your maki pieces in the mixture after slathering each piece with a slice of pickled ginger, or a person who values quanity over quality, then this place is perfect for you. If you are, however, a purist, then stick to your high-end omakase. Would I go back? Yes, I believe I would; but to try the Cajun side of the menu and compare my findings, or to scratch a sushi gorgefest if ever the craving to be a disgusting piglet arises again.
The server didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. We Got a bento box for my man. The miso was soapy tasting and the meat was dry. I got a $60 seafood boil. They were accommodating to switch the clams and mussels for shrimp however the shrimp and crab were inedible. The crab was either heavily salted or old. The shrimp were so overcooked I couldn’t get any of the skins off. They were also unclean, it was so frustrating. I ordered a Kani hand roll and took everything to go so I didn’t feel embarrassed. Disappointing to say the least. Weird v-day vibez.
