Sugar River Pizza Company - Sun Prairie

We had driven by Sugar River Pizza a few times now and finally decided to check it out. Their menu all looked amazing, so we were pumped to try everything. The lasagna was out of this world. The portions size was huge and made for at least 3 meals worth for my wife. The red sauce was very well seasoned and creamy and the ricotta to meat ratio was perfect. The mozzarella broiled on top was perfect, all stretchy and salty. Would definitely order again. We also wanted to test out their pizza. Our half sausage half cheese was amazing. The hand tossed crust was so good especially if you like a chewy crust. It's way better than any pizza chain we've tried, definitely tastes like they make the dough in house. The sausage was really nicely flavored and the pieces were huge, not like some pizza places with small standardized toppings, you could tell these were actual cut up bits of sausage. The cheese was freaking amazing. There's something about the cheese they use that is miles above other restaurants. It has that stretch when you take a bite and it has so much flavor. Some people might think a cheese pizza is boring, but Sugar River's is anything but. We will definitely be ordering this again. The side cheese roll that came the with lasagna was wonderful. Again it's clear to see that they make their bread/crust in house. It's chewy and wonderful and best of all its topped with more of the amazing mozzarella. The chicken strips were delicious and not too greasy. If you happen to have a person in your family that has a thing for chicken strips, they will love these. Some places have an issue making chicken strips too greasy, but these were great. Filled with all white meat and very tender. We will definitely be ordering from Sugar River Pizza again. They are doing an amazing job all around. We can't wait to try more from their delicious looking menu that has something for everyone.

As with there locations in New Glarus and Verona this location in Sun Prairie has great service an excellent selection of Beer and what I consider the best cheese curds and great pizza. We stopped in after some shopping and although it was very busy because there was just the 2 of us we were able to sit at the bar which was fine with us as there bar seats are comfy and the bar is always clean plus you get refills quicker. We ordered our standard that we almost always do cheese curds to start and she had a small Italian Creek Meat Lovers while I had a small build your own of Pepperoni with extra cheese. We enjoyed our drinks and cheese curds while we waited for our pies and than enjoyed a couple of slices each of our pies before getting a couple boxes and paying our bill and heading home. As I said earlier the curds were fantastic as were our pizza's and they were good for 2 more meals at home. If you are in the area don't miss a chance to stop at any one of the 3 locations that Sugar River Pizza has in Sun Prairie, Verona or New Glarus no matter which one you stop at the experience will be the same.

Sugar River Pizza is easily one of the best spots around for both variety and quality. They’ve got the longest row of taps I’ve seen in the area, making it a paradise for anyone who enjoys trying different craft beers. The cheese curds are a must—especially when you order them tossed in their “dry rub.” Perfectly crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and packed with flavor. Portions here are generous, so you’ll never leave hungry. Beyond their famous pizzas, which come in a wide variety of creative options, they also offer plenty of healthy choices and balanced meals if you’re looking for lighter eats. Whether you’re in the mood for comfort food or something on the healthier side, Sugar River delivers every time. The service is just as great as the food—shout out to Brittany, our waitress, who impressed us with her sharp memory and even remembered our choices from a previous visit. That kind of attention makes the experience feel extra special. A great place to bring friends, family, or just to enjoy a solid meal with a great beer lineup. Highly recommend!

On January 6th (2026), we came back for the pizzas! We had the Amazon Deluxe and the Spinach Artichoke Pizza. Both were good, but we still preferred the Amazon Deluxe. A year ago we shared two 14 inch pizzas and had plenty of leftover pizza to take home. We had the Yahara Chicken Alfredo and the Amazon Deluxe pizza with hand tossed crust. Crust was nicely cooked and just the right thickness (not too thin and not too doughy). For desert we had the French Silk pie slice, yummy! Service was fast at this Sugar River Pizza location in Sun Prairie. We had a great server too, thank you Pearl F! We thoroughly enjoyed this visit and the Pizza and service was great.

Awesome food and really great service. Order the Asian chicken pizza, a Mac and cheese pizza and the dough bites with cheese and bacon. Update 10302022- Still a great experience. Tried the chicken Alfredo pizza and it was stellar. Had them hold the mushrooms, no complaints from the wait staff. We ordered an appetizer as well very good! Update 111022- awesome service as usual at noon it started to get more busy. Tried the stuffed cheese bread and it's a must try.

Pizza pizza pizza…..oh it was so good! They were running a special for the 12”, it was cheaper than the 10”. So, we all got 12’s and a take home box. Service was spot on. And, we tried a couple new beers. Certainly gonna remember to eat here again.

First off, this is not my first time at Sugar River. They also have a location in Verona Wisconsin not too far from Sun Prairie. This one is fairly new, and I like what they have done to this place. Nice inside clean wooden tables and clean restrooms. First, walking in the host and waitress was awesome. Matthew, our waitress was great. He came right on time, greeted us, and took our order. Our apertizer came out first, and the main dish took about 15 minutes. We ordered the Gouda bites, jalapeno poppers, crunchy chicken salad, and a Caesar salad. Everything was good to go. Fresh as always hot and just the best of flavor. The chicken on my salad was great. I really like the atmosphere here. I wish they would have had TVs and music going like the Verona location, but other than that, this place is legit and good to go.

More than pizza! Great craft beer selection and appetizers as well. Pizza is soooo delish tho!!

One of my favorite places to stop for lunch or dinner. Really good pizza and pasta. The fried ravioli app is a must try. They have a good cocktail menu and Beer selection. Kid friendly Front lot is tight and normally packed there is a side parking lot as well.

My friend and I went to Sugar River Pizza during lunch. It was a little empty but clean and the waitress was really nice and accommodating. We ordered deep fried pickles and the breadsticks that came with their signature garlic cheese spread. Both were really good. I'd go back for both of them. We also tried a pepperoni thin crust pizza. It's the second to thinnest crust they have and it was good as well. Hot and gooey. My son ate the leftovers as soon as I got home.

Everything was both amazing and in amazing proportions! Plenty left over for post date snacks! Would order again. Pictured: strawberry salad, loaded waffle fries, mac daddy/ chicken alfraedo pizza. Portions: 15/10 Taste: 10/10 Experience/service 10/10

This place is top notch!!! The food was absolutely delicious, the prices were very reasonable, the whole atmosphere was great! And the portions were generous! Will be coming back often!

This isn't the normal 1 i go too.. However has the same awesome service great food! Trivia Tuesday lol ... Added pics of view didn't know this room opened up like this... I go here offten now.. I enjoy it vary much .. Can't get enough of the view Service is very good. ... Cyderboys any of them I think they have a few kind 4 bottle. Zombie killer. Think only in can now. Both vary good cyders. Think Monday there is a deal on 14 inch? Cheese breed is good. Stuffed cheese bread is better lol. Greek salad I like but I have mine with ranch.. Ooooo vary good pnt.. If your a ranch person.. Vary good dipping ranch. Love the Amazon deluxe.. Hand tossed, light sauce, extra house cheese. Leave it in let it Chris up.. I think it's called the 4 horse men .. Get it with ranch drizzle.. This isn't my norm but has a savory kick with the drizzle she's you the dipping too.. Ahhhh if you can sit in the back. i love the booth view. Hand tossed crust is good, the sausage used was surprising, not a preformed ball, good job. Cheese curds were nice as well, large portion of curds. Thick ranch dipping sauce be sure to add red pepper flakes to your ranch. Carbonation was out of order, but staff definitely made up for this.

The lasagna and artichoke dip appetizer are out of this world delicious but so is their pizza and homemade ranch. This is the ultimate quality comfort food. The staff is very kind and helpful too. I wish they had a store in Madison!

Celebrated my son's birthday here. My 1st visit. Sat on outdoor canopy covered area of balcony. Everything was exceptional. We were only patrons outside & our service was top notch. My 15 month old grandson loved atmosphere & adoring staff. Food was amazing. We intentionally ordered extra food to try many items & take home leftovers. Appreciated how clean everything was with new little walker exploring his surroundings. As inside got busier, additional patrons started coming outside. I was initially concerned being only table outside we might not have great service, but we were impressed with entire staff's attentiveness to details during entire experience. Price points in line with quality & quantity of everything we ordered. Highly recommend & will return soon. Loved outdoor dining overlooking green space. Traffic noise far off in distance so it was never an issue with our party of 4 conversations.

Was here for a Coca Cola corporate event serving 150+ attendees. The service was great, the buffet table never ran out and the food was exceptional. All the servers and staff were great but an extra shout out to the tqo young men stocking the food line and serving the attendees!

We ordered a specialty pizza along with 10 dry rub wings and the deluxe cheese bread. A ton of cheese in the cheese bread, wings were perfectly cooked and the dry rub was delicious. The pizza was outstanding and the atmosphere was similar to an upscale sports bar. I highly recommend Sugar River Pizza Co.

Great selection of craft beers and a large menu. Everything we ordered was very good and the desserts are huge!

Visited for the first time on friday 2/20/2026 . We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted with a smile from Pearl 😁 She took our drink order and then gave us menus and her recommendations of some of the "favorites " We ordered the brussectta appetizer. . It was delicious Then ordered the 10 inch regular crust Ricotta be kidding me pizza 🍕 . Honestly the best pizza I have ever had ! We live in Michigan and are so bummed there isn't a Sugar river here . Our expectations were exceeded.. The service ,food and atmosphere were all a 10 out of 10 . Please consider another location near Jackson Michigan 🤣

Sugar River is the absolute best place to host your event! We had 45+ people for a wedding rehearsal and the space accommodated all of us very well. The food was delicious and we had so many different things to choose from! The wait staff was quick and kind. They made sure that the food was stocked and everyone’s drink was filled. Danni was extremely generous and easy to work with. Pearl was fabulous! We seriously can not recommend coming here enough! 10/10⭐️

Always Great Service & Great Food! Only reason for 4 stars on service is perpetual habit of making people wait to be seated when tables are clearly open. (If staffing was an issue they wouldn't fill those tables, later while we are dining). Just a pet peeve

Great place for a wide variety of speciality pizzas, appetizers, and salads. Full bar and solid selection of craft beers, too. Plenty of seating and wait staff is always very good.

Spinach and artichoke dip was really good. The pizza was great, My significant other got the pizza and we decided I'd try something else so I tried the shredded beef with au jus which was a new item on their menu. I'm sorry I will never ever get that again. If we come back when we're down in Madison again, I would definitely stick with pizza. My beef tasted very very gross.... definitely did not taste right. PIZZA though was GREAT!!! The pizza in the picture is half BBQ pork and half deluxe, I found that awesome that they're willing to do half and half of different pizzas. The hand tossed the crust is definitely airy which tastes amazing and you don't get that bloating after you ate a piece.

The bacon pesto pizza was very good. So many toppings, they couldn't all stay on! The cheese bread was good, and the marinara is flavorful. The chicken parmesan: on first glance I was impressed with the amount of chicken. In the first bite, it seemed like these were once frozen tenders. No crunchy coating, no crispy contrast- soggy. Plenty of sauce and fettuccine.

We’ve had great pizzas from here many times over the years. It’s absolutely a place to come to get good pizza, particularly with a group. My biggest, most consistent complaint is that they screw up. A lot. I placed a pickup order at 430 PM for a 615 pickup and sure enough when I show up at 618, they haven’t started it. This is the 4th/5th time this has happened. I’ve had multiple pizzas get overcooked so now I check all my pies before I leave. Several times they’ve had to remake pizzas because they’re so overcooked and crispy. They’ve frequently forgotten items from the kids pizza meals and they’ve flat out forgotten to make sides more than once. It’s so frustrating because they make a good product, but they’re never on their A-game so I’m forced to double check their work every time I set foot in the building. Be sure to check your orders before you pick up/get delivery because they just can’t be trusted to give you what you paid for.

PSA that there is an auto gratuity of 18% with groups. I was not made aware of this by server or when reservation was made so I followed the suggested tip listed at the bottom of the receipt. Looking at my receipted more closely now I ended up tipping twice. Feeling ripped off but it’s on me. I do find it misleading though that the suggested tip is the traditional tipping percentages. We didn’t even get any refills on soda or water.

Great idea, poor execution. This place offers a wide variety of speciality pizzas, build your own, on top of a full “Italian” menu. They also offer a huge selection of tap beer, as well as craft cocktails, wine, and more. TVs line all the walls so you can’t miss your favorite game. All of this sounds great, except, it just wasn’t that good. I asked the bartender for a flight and she looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. She had never heard of one. I couldn’t believe a place that offers this many tap beers wouldn’t offer a flight. They do offer 4oz pours, so in theory you could make a flight as big or small as you like, but the bartender failed to mention this, and I didn’t find out until after ordering a beer. I ordered three beers throughout my time there and none of them had even a bit of a head. Very unexpected and disappointing from a place that offers so many tap beers. You would expect a bartender at a place like this to know how to pour a beer. The pizza was okay, but nothing special. The server seemed annoyed and unfriendly. The bathrooms were filthy. I will not be back.

Food was good. Service was disappointing. Waited 10 minutes to be seated with 4 employees not even saying a word to me. Sat at a table for 10 minutes without any waitstaff realizing I was theirs. I moved to the bar. Bartender was amazing. 12 people at the bar and 8 at tables and she handled it all without any waiting. She ran rings around every waitress in the restaurant (and it wasn't even super busy) I will only go back because the Bartender also noticed my bad experience and discounted my meal (without me even asking)

Their food is always super yummy, and whenever we pick up their service is always very nice. The last time we picked up though, I got sick from eating their beef sandwich. (Threw up) I emailed them asking basic kitchen questions to see if they just left their aus ju out for too long, how long they keep things hot holding, stuff like that, and I haven't heard a response back. It makes me skeptical ordering again, because I don't want to get sick.

Tonight was our fourth and last time eating here. We had a fantastic experience at the Sugar River in Verona. But the Sun Prairie one is 0 for 4. We have never had good service here. The food is just okay. Last time we ordered garlic bread and it came out still raw inside. Tonight we ordered an appetizer which took longer than expected. After we finished the appetizer we sat there for another 30 minutes waiting for our food to come out. Normally it's within 5 minutes of finishing your appetizer. Then the waitress brought a pizza to us, but it was not close to the pizza we ordered. She took it back and then returned and said she was sorry that she had not put in the "right" pizza order. We asked about my lasagna and she said that hadn't been put in at all. She had stopped by earlier to say that our pizza was almost ready. Not sure how that could have been since it was never ordered. Then she brought us the bill for the appetizer & didn't even offer to discount it. No consideration for the 30+ minutes we waited after our appetizer, which also took too long. Would have spoken to a manager, but we couldn't identify any.

The food was horrible! I ordered the Shrimp Ravioli with Sautéed Mushrooms and Garlic Red Pepper Cream Sauce. No shrimp in the Ravioli, my plate was drenched in the Mushrooms Red Pepper Cream Sauce. I thought it was SOUP. The Parmesan chicken looked like a plate of chicken spaghetti thrown together. Horrible! Don't waste your time or money. Not worth it!! The waitress was clueless and seemed burnt out. Not a Happy dinner with my family at all.

I ordered some food for carry out. I requested light pizza sauce and extra crispy Jamaican Barbecue wings. I couldn't find any sauce on the wings or cheese on the pizza. We will definitely stick with Anna's or Glass Nickel in the future. The cheese curds were the only good thing. I did get a refund for the pizza. I still haven't received my refund. Never again! 🤔😡🥱

Lets start with the only positive.... the atmosphere is nice. The service was nonexsistant, my wife had to flag the waiter down after 20 minites of sitting at out table just to get drinks. Waiter had to give attitude and tell my wife he has more tables that need service too. I ordered a medium rare burger... got a hockey puck. Asked for balsamic dressing, tasted like cleaning supplies. Will not be coming here to this location again this isnt the first time. We opted to give this a second chance... terrible idea.

Only could give them a 1 star but they truly deserve ZERO. I was met with a very disgusting attitude from the hostess after waiting way above the time they told them (3/8/25 around 6:50 pm). My friends and I were excited to go on a double date here and I even advocated that the wait was worth it. I wish I would’ve never came back to check on the time because the hostess was extremely rude and ruined our appetite. We were put on a waitlist, like everyone else, which allowed us to see our place in line (online). We were given a 20-30 min wait. We decided to step out of the restaurant and wait in our car, PATIENTLY because there was a big group in the waiting area. When we hit the 20 min mark and saw that our placement was jumping from #9 to then #12 in line, we decided to call the restaurant to check on our seating. Of course, the hostess decided to put us on a not so brief hold (she never got back to us). We finally decided to enter the restaurant and check on our spot in line or if they had any updates. I briefly explained to the hostess that their online wait list kept pushing our spot further and further to the bottom of the list. Her only reaction? To get defensive. She claimed she didn’t know the website I was showing her and that they called my name out in the waiting area. I simply asked her, “what is the point of adding people to the online waitlist when they don’t call or send messages to let you know when your table is ready? Yet expect us to be inside the restaurant”. As a customer, I was just being courteous to others that needed space to put their name on the waitlist and not hog up the space. Anyway, the hostess then said “we can either stand here and argue or you can get seated”. Again, the lack of accountability, miscommunication on waiting procedures and the nastiest attitude met by the hostess is pretty embarrassing for a business. Would not come back to this place or any of their other businesses. My friends and I debated on whether to stay, but they clearly made it super uncomfortable and uninviting — that we left. I told the hostess we won’t need the table anymore, and all she let out was a passive “OKAY” and never looked up. On a lighter note, we went to another restaurant with fast seating and DELICIOUS food!! The owner was so kind to us and attentive towards our needs. Every bite I took was fantastic!!! I ordered half basket or ribs with Mac and cheese, plus corn bread. As an appetizer, I ordered the BIG ASS PRETZEL. Don’t waste your time waiting in line and go to a place that truly cares about your experience, Primal Cue Barbecue is where it is at !!! My next review will be for them for 5 stars that truly deserves 6!

Repeated order issues at this location, including missing ingredients (such as no sauce) and burnt pizza. Occasional mistakes are understandable, but constant problems are not — especially with today’s food prices and the complete lack of effort to correct errors. Being told “I’m sorry it didn’t have the amount of sauce you expected” is unacceptable when there was no sauce at all. (See added Pictures.) I do not enjoy eating overcooked dry cardboard and burnt cheese. I will not be ordering from Sugar River again.

We’ve been to Sugar River over 30 times, and this is the first visit that left a bad taste in our mouths. The food was great, as always—but the service was not. To start, the waitress repeatedly called us “hun,” “baby,” and “sweetie.” We’re grown adults, and that kind of language feels tacky and disrespectful. On top of that, our food took over 30 minutes to arrive. At least five tables that ordered after us were served before we were, including the table next to us, who had already finished eating by the time our food arrived. We didn’t make a scene and paid our bill, but this was by far the worst service we’ve experienced here since Covid. Very disappointing, especially given how much we’ve always liked this place.
