Opinions de Peggy Sue's Sunnyvale
Peggy Sue's in Sunnyvale is a delightful spot for anyone looking to enjoy a classic American dining experience. This charming establishment takes you back in time with its 50s diner vibe, complete with jukebox tunes, neon lights, and memorabilia that adorns the walls, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that's both inviting and exciting. The menu offers a wide range of delicious options, but the hamburgers steal the show. Each burger is cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, served with fresh, crispy fries that complete the meal beautifully. The staff at Peggy Sue's are friendly and attentive, ensuring every visit is a pleasant one. Whether you're a local or just passing through Sunnyvale, Peggy Sue's is a must-visit for a fun, satisfying dining experience that leaves you with a smile.
Really enjoyed the burger I got there which course cook medium rare. And their chili cheese fries was pretty good too a lot of places don't have good chili but they do. I used they're online ordering which is convenient but it definitely needs some work. Not all their menu options are listed. I didn't order a milkshake online because they didn't list bananas but when I got there they had it so I had to order that one separately. Still good place nice people.
Right off the bat the general look of the restaurant felt right at home. The food was pretty good for the price and they offered great service. The lady who brought our food accidentally dropped some of our french fries and generously prepared a small basket of more fries free of charge. They seem understaffed so service might be a little slow. Would go there again!
Totally surprised at the gourmet style of the food! The rib eye burger was tender and had a fresh bun. The burger with mushroom and cheese was so flavorful and juicy. Service was great and atmosphere is very comfortable. Lots of options at the bar and they even have Fevertree tonic and gingerbeer.
We were impressed. Came in today and got two burgers, fries, and onion rings for $25, before tip!?! Wow! Our standard weekend lunch in Sunnyvale is closer to $50, even for a simple burger. My partner and I chatted about the many impressive aspects of our meal afterwards. 1.) The ingredients are so well balanced and fresh you can actually desiminate them for one another in each bite; right down to the sesame bun. Nothing over powered any other aspect. 2.) The patty was well seasoned, and NOT with salt. So many places trade spices for salt these days and its the worst. Not Peggy Sue's. We could tell the patty had been seasoned but not with mostly salt. Again, well balanced. 3.) I have always talked about why places don't reduce the cost of a meal when you remove items. This place does! Omg, I can't belive that! You don't want the fries that come with your burger, cool, you save $1 🤯 Very cool! 4.) Almost any topping added, for free. I could turn a $11 cheese burger into an onion, jalapeño, peppers burger for... the same $11 🤯 What?!?. Again, so cool. 5.) Fries and onion rings were extra crunchy and fresh tasting; and again, not over salted. They definitely take care of their fryer and oil. Better tasting than a lot of places we've been. 6.) Service was friendly and welcoming. They very clearly care about their patrons and understand the importance of customer service. Please don't hesitate to ask for anything you feel may make your meal that much better, they really do want you to enjoy your meal. And remember, this is Sunnyvale, a $10 burger can't even be found at McDonald's these days. Great place. We will 100% be back as we're already excited to try their breakfast.
Best fries!!! Also great lunch special on a burger, fries and a soda only $9.99.
Fantastic spot, whether you want a burger, breakfast, or a delicious cocktail. I went for a sidecar with my French toast, and the pairing was brilliant. The staff was swift, friendly, and attentive. Peggy Sue’s is indeed a local treasure.
The 3 star rating for Atmosphere is based on Lunch Time visit. It's a positive 3 star rating. If you prefer quiet eating, then this is the perfect spot. But I'm sure this place can be a hot spot after work. Happy hour and FULL BAR. Nice....place is clean and lots of seats. Including outside. Next to train station, located 50 feet away. Don't drink and drive. I'm going to have to try this place after work. Fair priced quality food.
I can’t say enough good about this place! Frankie tunes, neon lights, and delicious eats make it stand out. I tried their specialty milkshake with a shot of alcohol—sweet, boozy, and divine. My server was kind, patient, and had great attitude.
Great retro diner with outstanding drinks. I had their espresso martini and it was creamy and bold. The burger was thick, juicy, and savory—just my style. The upbeat atmosphere made it a fun night out.
Great burgers! The service team is super friendly, ambiance country burger, great choice and even better price! I recommend! I had the classic cheeseburger and garlic fries. The garlic fries was recommended to me by the waiter and Iam 100% happy I followed his advice.
I went here for lunch on a Friday with a friend and the place was fairly empty but I kinda liked that. Had the Sharks Special (bacon cheeseburger sandwich) and steak fries, both of which were excellent. Pricing was pretty reasonable considering the portions and taste. I'd go here again and recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual, traditional American cafe/diner type place.
I recently visited this place with a couple of my friends , we ordered buffalo chicken bites , California chicken sandwich and crunchy coconut shrimp , the food was awesome with great atmosphere inside. Would love to recommend it to other friends. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Peggy Sue’s is a great sports bar. Bartenders are very friendly and the service is great. The customers at Peggy Sue’s are very welcoming and easy to talk to. If you want to get away from the stresses of work and negative politics, Peggy Sue’s is a great place to have a beer and some excellent comfort food.
The food at Peggy Sue’s is simple, classic, and done well. The service was excellent and very friendly. Portions were generous and filling. The restaurant has a cozy, relaxed vibe. It’s a great spot for any day of the week.
Very nice service. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Chicken fried steak was really good, along with the chorizo. Also if they have the pecan pie get it!

I had an amazing experience at Peggy Sue’s! The happy hour is fantastic, and both the beers and food taste excellent. The service is top-notch, and the staff is very friendly. The bar itself has a great vibe and is very well-kept. During games, it’s a chill spot with lots of regulars, making it even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a fun and relaxing time!
Peggy Sue’s is billed as a retro diner with a 1950’s atmosphere. The real surprise is the pricing especially given its Bay Area location. While McDonald’s struggles to give you a Big Mac for under $20, Peggy Sue has a hamburger combo for $10! I had breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were reasonable. I’ll be returning when in the area.
We really enjoyed our experience at Peggy Sue’s. The food was tasty, the staff was welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly. A great place for a casual meal.
This place has great food and a wide selection to choose from. It's a great place to have a beer and catch a game. The workers are outstanding, we forgot my aunts phone here, and the workers quickly found it and held onto it for us to pick up the next day I'd gladly recommend this place to anyone visiting out here.
The food is indeed the best part. The service is amazing. The atmosphere is for quiet folks who enjoy food and drinks.
Killer diner vibe with serious food chops. The classic burger and fries were juicy and crisp, respectively, and hit all my comfort-food cravings. Their whiskey sour was tart and beautifully mixed. Super helpful staff made the experience top-notch.

It's essentially a sports bar - if you're looking for something else than watching a game in a very loud company, look elsewhere. Food was ok - I did consume my BLT though didn't quite enjoy its main and only non-trivial ingredient, the bacon which was just sad and soggy. Service was disappointing - I got my food and drink served in the end, though that was accompanied by a number of mistakes made by the personnel.
I've come here a few times after work with my coworkers. Service is a little slow, seems like there's only one person. The fries and food are good. Not sure I would order drinks again, a bit inconsistent every time we go. I don't know if they know how to make drinks or use different ingredients or maybe it depends on who makes them. Stop by and give it a try!
Very good "Marlon Brando" burger, very. meaty and flavorful. Good steak fries. Service was mid, but the burger didn't take too long. I like the "sort of Mel's" type atmosphere. Not sure why all their seating is torn up. Looks bad. But over all, good food at a good price. Would go again.
Much better experience than the first time my husband and I visited. We ordered the same things we had the first time and the chicken on my salad and my husband’s burger patty were much fresher and didn’t taste spongy and frozen like before. Very happy with the improvements they’ve made. Definitely coming back!
Used to frequent the downtown San José location for years. Stumbled upon this location in Sunnyvale. We ordered the Hollywood burger with chili cheese fries, my little chick-a-dee sandwich with curly fries and a mint chip milkshake. The curly fries were super crispy and the stand out item!

I had different expectations of this place for breakfast since it seemed to have a breakfast diner like vibe. So this affects my opinion. That being said, I expected a sit down server (with lots of coffee refills) experience but got order and pay first breakfast experience. The food (chicken fried steak) was good but perhaps there could have been a bigger serving of hash Browns. There were no coffee refills but the price was $2 as opposed to the $4+ dollars you pay at other places. The decor was appropriate for a 50's nostalgia diner feel but it also had a sports bar vibe. It was a hybrid. Overall the experience was acceptable but it's not some place I'd go back for breakfast. However I think the lunch/dinner burger meals might be pretty good for what is offered.
I've been to a few Peggy Sues in my life and those were awesome can't complain, but by far this was the worst. How do you mess up on breakfast? This for the one on Tasman in Sunnyvale. Denver omelet was over cooked, ordered a side of sausage and they were over cooked, borderlined burnt, toast was skimpy on the butter. The only thing that place has going is the atmosphere. Think they bought everything from the San Jose.
It was okay. The burger patties were crumbling apart and had a charred taste. They didn't come with fries so I ordered a side of large fries and was extremely underwhelmed by the portion size.
Would probably not recommend this place for breakfast....usually don't see kraft cheese slices on my hash browns..eggs were cooked as asked beacon could have been cooked a little longer but still ok...have been there before for dinner was good 👍..
My experience was on a Sunday about 11 30 a.m. there was only one person who was waiting on tables and doing cashiering and doing everything else. He was pleasant enough except that it was sort of awkward because I asked for a menu and it took quite a while to get it while he went to the cash register and rang something up and then dealt with the one other customer in the store. After I got the menu it took quite a while for him to come back. He didn't serve me silverware until I asked for it. I only ordered pancakes and a cup of tea. He didn't bring any sugar or cream with it until I asked. And I also had to ask for a spoon. The pancakes were okay. I did like the fact that he came with an array of teas that I could choose from. I believe that training is necessary to understand customers needs and be on top of things. I myself have run a coffee house as an owner and had a staff of six people. And I know that customer service is very important.
Generally place is ok. Mostly a local spot. At least that’s the vibe. Came in during basketball playoffs. Warriors already finished earlier in the day and some dudes were posted up just talking sports drinking beer. I just waned a quick beer and an order of chicken wings. Got a laguanitas 20oz pour. Prices are fair. The only thing is they brought out “boneless” chicken wings. ordered bone in. It is what it is. Definitely a quick stop in kinda place. Maybe the other stuff are better.
Have gone for breakfast a couple weekends ago and it was great (not photographed). Went the other night for dinner and won’t do that again. My husband’s fish and chips were good, but I couldn’t eat my clam chowder because it had bacon in it. The turkey burger was tasteless and the texture was of a frozen patty. My chocolate shake was good, but I had ordered a malt. I appreciate the employee who was working, he was very friendly and apologetic about the soup. Restaurant was clean and more modern than the original, still a lot of great memorabilia to look at. All-in-all we will stick with coming here strictly for breakfast. (And maybe for fries & shakes, too!)
Good decor and ambiance! My server was really nice and helpful. I got the Mushroom Swiss burger which came with a side of fries. With tip, the total bill came out to $13.78. The burger was adequate but certainly nothing exceptional. Notably, I did not like the fries at all though. ☹️ There is an option to substitute a side salad; I would definitely recommend that if you visit this restaurant!

The food is decent, but not amazing. I would not be the least bit shocked if it turned out they were just using freezer ingredients.. I usually come because I'm a sucker for curly fries and the location is convenient. Note: I've many of the other reviews and some of the 5 star ones sound AI generated

Do not order takeout from here without checking your order in its entirety first. It's painfully apparent that this place and its owners lack attention to detail. The good: - My strawberry-mango shake was 4.5/5, and absolutely worth the money. It's thick in a good way. Apparently you can get the alcoholic version for takeout? - The caesar salad had a nice flavor and the chicken wasn't dry. The bad: - The Au Jus in my takeout order didn't include the most critical part: the dip. When I called to request a partial refund, I was told I would need to call back in a week when the manager was in, or drive all the way back from home to get another. Totally unacceptable. If I'd ordered through Doordash instead of buying direct, I'd have my money back by now. Don't run a restaurant without someone on-site who can give refunds! - The physical menus have so much JPEG artifacting it's distracting and embarrassing to look at. They should be reprinted by someone who knows what they're doing. - The plastic straw provided for the shake was far too thin for a shake that thick, making it entirely useless until the shake melts because it collapses on itself. I replaced it with my own at home. The mediocre: - My cheese steak had dry bread and meat. The sandwiches are not worth the cost. - The TV menus behind the cashier display a scaled version of their print menu, making most of the items impossible to read. They handed out physical menus at the front. They should edit the TV menus to be readable highlights or switch those TVs to something better. - The only claim to it having 50's diner decor are some posters on the wall. The place was previously Boardwalk Burgers and Fries and looks basically the same as before. - It looked like my shake was made immediately after my order, then sat somewhere while the rest of my order was made, ~20 minutes. So all the whipped cream had deflated by the time I left and I didn't even get to sip it while I waited 😢
Horrifically bad wait staff, which had us waiting for five minutes t order, failed to take my order properly, never put it in, and never came back to ask if we needed anything else. Decent burger though.
Ordered veggie wrap, French dip, bacon burger, fries & 2 sides of bacon. Wrap was mostly rice and it was the only warm item. Au jus seems to just be broth. Burger bun, bacon & patty were burnt. Sides of bacon were on the burger & we only got 3 strips total. Each time we go it seems to be more of a disappointment. UPDATED UPDATED REVIEW: Ordered: #51 Garden burger, #46 Porky Pig (w/ extra patty (+$4) & extra bacon (+$3)), & large fries to go. I feel weird updating my review so often, but here we go... The #46 only comes with 2 small pieces of bacon, so I figured I would order with extra this time. I ordered it, was charged for it, but I didn't receive it. Ordered straight from the menu, it should have more bacon on it if it is a bacon cheeseburger. It's like getting a mushroom burger with only 2 slices of button mushroom on it. I also still have to order the tomato & lettuce on the side (to keep the bun from getting soggy). Even so, the #51 had it on it today, but the #46 had it on the side. Another thing that strikes me as odd is the inconsistency with packaging to go orders. Sometimes I get the small white to go boxes for the burgers, today I got both in brown rectangular boxes. Fries seems to be typically in a bag, but today they were in the box with the #51. Sometimes the lettuce and tomato on the side are wrapped in aluminum, plastic wrap, sandwich bag, or (today) included in the brown box. The #51 was wrapped in decent quality paper, the #46 was not wrapped. Also, I went on another occasion. Ordered the French dip sandwich for someone. I was told the sandwich was great, but the au jus was not recommended. I'm going to keep coming back because the burgers & the fries are good. Due to the lack of bacon on a bacon cheeseburger, the au jus, order inaccuracy & packaging inconsistencies I'm going to dock from food & service UPDATED REVIEW: Ordered: #45 Chubby Checker with large standard fries to go. Raised the rating 1 star. Got the burger with the tomato & lettuce on the side. Was told it was much better & the bun wasn't soggy. Fries were cooked great. Everything was hot & approved by the hubby. OLD REVIEW: Ordered: #45 chubby checker (double cheeseburger), steak fries (lrg), curly fries (lrg), onion rings (sml). I didn't customize any of the items I ordered. Subtotal: $30 Time: around 1:30pm Atmosphere: Less than 10 customers. A lot of 50s diner themed decor. Great customer service. Food overall: All of the food was hot. 3 out of 4 items were correct. I was given sweet potato fries instead of onion rings I ordered. Husband said the price is a bit higher than the quality, but he would be interested in going back. Burger: He enjoyed the burger, but he said he would have preferred if the tomato was on the side (as advertised), it made the bun soggy. Fries: Curly fries were a tad over & steak fries were a tad under, but both were pretty decent.
Went mid-morning Sunday and the place was nearly empty. There was one person staffed for the entire front of house. I sat myself and had to go back to the counter to order. The food was not great. I had a Denver omelet with hash browns. The omelet had what seemed to be Kraft singles on top and the hash browns were cold. The only redeeming portion of my meal was the coffee had a free refill.

Service was good and kind on a slow day, thank you! The food is just ok, but not too expensive. Taking off a couple of stars because the single-user bathrooms were not designated as all-gender. This would have made someone who is gender-expansive in our party to feel more welcome, and we would be much more likely to return. It is also required by California Health and Safety Code section 118600.

Went for lunch while I was working around the corner. It wasnt busy at all and the service was really good. The food was lacking though. The gravy for the chicken fried steak wasnt the traditional white gravy but something else entirely, it was almost translucent. Eggs came out over hard. It may come down to who was in front of the stove that day but it wasn't good. The restaurant was clean and the service was good but there needs to be some attention paid to the menu.

the server forgot to bring out my food for 30 minutes and just let me waiting while I watched my friends finish their meals. I finally had to alert him and ask about my food. He apologized about forgetting about me and handed me the plate telling me the food was still warm. When I finally ate the food it was so dry it gave me a stomach ache. The whole meals service was really chaotic. Like it took a super long time to get coffee brought to the table and it didn’t come out until after two meals. The server brought us 2 napkins for the three of us. I never have see such bad service. The place was empty other than two other people. So it didn’t really make any sense why the server was so inattentive and forgetful.
I got their chicken fried steak, website said it was 12.99, but they charged me way more than that. The hash browns, maybe 2ozs in size. wow, way under sizes. the gravy was not gravy, but I do not know what it was.
I was so disappointed in my experience here today. They messed up my order, and wanted me to pay for the food I didn’t even order. After I let them know kindly, that it was incorrect. Later I came in again hoping they would give a better experience and again they did my order wrong and the man that helped me kept swearing that the steak fries with bacon n garlic aren’t steak just cut like a steak and that I had to pay for them, even though I didn’t eat it or want it ! Then he said the menu on the website is completely different from the menu in person. I will not be dining here again terrible customer service
only reason i’m comfortable with a one star instead of zero is because our waitress was amazing. she was a sweetheart and it wasn’t her fault at all. we were recommended this place on google as a family friendly restaurant however, it’s definitely a bar. there was high chairs and a kids menu but no other family was there. just a couple guys drinking at the bar. $11 for my french dip that was cold, bread was stale, and didn’t have cheese on it even though it was supposed to. somehow the meat was extremely dry. and only had 3 pieces of meat on it. and the au jus broth was literally watered down unseasoned veggie broth. we didn’t get offered a discount or replacement meal. just the cold cheese brought to our table. seems like a fun place to just go and have a few drinks, definitely don’t recommend as a “family friendly” restaurant or their food.
Waited 40 mins for chilli dogs and fries while both workers sat up front talking nobody in the kitchen eventually after 40 minutes of waiting I received a “handful” of cold stale fries. For a $7 box of fries I would expect them to be atleast warm I have tried their breakfast which was equally as disappointing I would not recommend unless you plan on getting drunk at the very loud bar first
only reason i’m comfortable with a one star instead of zero is because our waitress was amazing. she was a sweetheart and it wasn’t her fault at all. we were recommended this place on google as a family friendly restaurant however, it’s definitely a bar. there was high chairs and a kids menu but no other family was there. just a couple guys drinking at the bar.
Decided to give this place another chance. Bad idea. The burger was overcooked and tough and chewy. The Swiss cheese is the fake kind (like Kraft singles). Burger was too small for the bun. Bun was soggy and slimy inside from the burger grease. Ordered “regular” fries but got their “crispy” fries instead. Server said those are their “regular” fries. Battered fries are not good - wouldn’t have ordered them had I known. Your response says your staff doesn’t recall me being there. Here’s the receipt. Do better.
Orderedblunchbspecail hamburger with fries and soda. They charge 2 dollars extra for cheese. Burger was undercooked hardly any fries that were included .asked for sliced onions waiter brings me chopped onion chunks and I mean chunks and they stunk like old onions. The fries not crispy I asked for extra crispy. Waiter was more into watching movie he had on at a a pup like environment with all kinds of sport and other photos and memorable . Then having something others may want enjoy. I wouldn't recommend there special nor their lunch time with that server . Too bad was looking forward to a old time diner with good music or TV sports and good old time food like a good juicy cheeseburger and good Ole crunchy fries with ketchup man did I choose the wrong place 🙃
The service was not upto the mark. We weren’t offered water and even after asking for water we didn’t get it. (Not even after our meal is done, the server totally forgot about it) Looking at the situation we wanted to leave as even coffee wasn’t available, so when we asked the guy to cancel our order (after ordering it 2 mins before) he refused. We ordered garlic fries and we weren’t told that they’ll charge us for a large portion (The quantity wasn’t enough for us to know which size it was) It wasn’t properly communicated at all. So when the bill came we were surprised. Overall food taste was good but service and value for money was really disappointing. Felt like waste of money for the way we were treated in the restaurant.
