Opinions de Shosha Sunnyvale
Beautiful Indian restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale with a great modern ambiance. The food is flavorful and well-presented. We tried the Mango Palak Chaat, Chicken Skewers, and their biryanis — everything was absolutely mouth-watering and packed with authentic flavors. They also have a really nice selection of mocktails and cocktails to go with the meal. Friendly service and a great place to enjoy a relaxed dinner with family or friends. Highly recommend!
Nice comfortable seating. One of the best Indian cuisine in the area. My husband and I come here for occasions or just to have a satisfying meal. Great ambience. Nice music but not overwhelming ability to have a quiet conversation.
Good food and atmosphere. Really appreciated that it wasn’t crowded so much when we went tonight. They had event going on but it was upstairs so it kept natural separation of crowd. Appetizers came fast but Kitchen could have hurried up the main course, it was a long wait. Aldrin provided excellent service. Thanks!
Great food, interiors and service. We enjoyed the starters the most and their unique items on their menu such as the kebabs and the artichoke, broccoli and jackfruit curry. They are also able to customize the spice levels. We got everything mild and it all still tasted wonderful! Plenty of parking spots in Sunnyvale downtown and easy Caltrain access.
Food was excellent and service was superb. We celebrated our son’s birthday and they made him feel super special. Our server, Alwyn was very attentive and gave great recommendations. We ordered chaat platter, vegan tikka masala and falundi makhani kofta. They had unique flavor and highly recommend it.
We celebrated our friends birthday here on a weekend and I must say we enjoyed here alot. The food was really good, especially the dak bungalow chicken and naan. We tried almost all the cocktails and all were good. My favorite was JAMUNTINI. The staff was really friendly and they even gave us a round of drinks on the house. Overall great experience and really glad that we chose this place to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Also glad to support a family business.
Shosha is truly a unique twist compared to our typical Indian cuisine. We went to try their weekend brunch buffet last summer. I was amazed at the creativity of the chef. All the dishes we tried had some sort of novelty in it, and not to mention all of them were absolutely delicious. The range of dishes is bewildering and they are all bite sized, so you can taste them all. The tea at the end was also a nice touch. Kudos to the chef for providing us with such a unique experience.
Went for my Birthday Brunch Buffet at 12pm on a weekend. Surprisingly, we were the only people at that time. As vegetarians, we were delighted to find so many veg options both in appetizers and main course. Desserts were okayish. There were dahi kebab, crispy baby corn, paneer bakalava, paneer tikka wrap, samosa chaat, aloo tikki chaat and also live pani puri counter with 3 different pani (imli, pudina and orange) options. Veg main course included aloo poori, choley bhaturey, idli sambhar vada, paneer tikka, yellow dal tadka, veg pulav, hakka noodles and paneer manchurian. They even served freshly made bhaturey, bedmi poori, aloo paratha and butter nan. All in all it was worth $24 per person. Stongly recommend!!
Yesterday, we dined at Shosha, A fine dining Indian restaurant in the Bay Area, and it was an experience to remember! 🪞The ambiance was sophisticated and elegant, setting the perfect mood for an upscale dining experience. From the exquisite food presentation to the flawless service, everything was top-notch. And the best part? Every dish we tried was incredibly delicious, exceeding expectations. It’s no surprise that Shosha is well-known for its Indian cuisine. My recommendations🫶🏻 • Pani puri shots • Dilli papdi chaat • Chilli cheese lollipop • Peshawari gosht tikka • Rasmisu • Khatta meetha peru • Heera panna If you’re looking for an elevated Indian dining experience, this place is a must-visit!”
They put a fun and creative vibe on typical Indian dishes. Cocktails are very good, especially Calcutta Paan, Guava Peru and Jamuntini. Highly recommend chicken tikka and jhinga kalimirch off the grill. Rosemary naan was superb to accompany traditional paneer butter masala curry. Finally we tried a couple desserts - pudding called Shosha Hug and Shahi tukda with authentic rabri 😋
Amazing Weekend brunch buffet Beautiful and sophisticated twist on the regular Indian buffet They have turned the traditional buffet upside down : it’s heavy on appetizers, I mean , really heavy . Kids will love it , so will your non desi friends with items like palak paneer spinakopita and chicken bao Egg sandwich and chicken bite were good There’s an omelette station and pav bhaji and chole Bhature And that’s before the main course Main course was good with some traditional Indian and some Indo-Chinese Deserts were eclectic : Rabdi, double ka meetha and railway station cake Definitely a must try
I recently celebrated a special occasion at a restaurant that required prior reservations, and overall, it was a good experience. The ambiance was perfect for birthdays or anniversaries, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Tandoori Malai Soya Chaap was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection—definitely one of the highlights of the meal. However, I was slightly disappointed with the Aam Panna Remix cocktail, which was around 70% ice and didn't have much substance. For the main course, I tried the bestseller Dak Bungalow Chicken Curry paired with Onion Kulcha and Garlic Naan, which were both delicious and satisfying. The curry was well-spiced, and the bread was soft and fresh. For dessert, I opted for the Sizzling Brownie with Lemongrass Ice Cream. While the flavor combination was unique, the brownie was a bit too hard to enjoy fully, which was unfortunate. Despite a few minor misses, I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu. The restaurant has great potential and could be an excellent spot for future celebrations.
My partner and I went for this "lazy breakfast" buffet tasting event and the experience was incredible! I cannot stop raving about it! One of the best in the bay! You can experience this too - they launch this on this Saturday April 20th, don't miss it. The buffet goes like this- Nafrat ka sharbat: Flavorful refreshing cold badam milk with subtle thandai flavors (not too overpowering), absolute amazing start to the course. Comes with a spoon so you don't miss out those amazing nuts and other things to eat. :) Aloo chat: Indian umami. Sweet, salty sour spicy all at same time. My definition of chatpat. Patty is cooked perfectly. Right proportions of chutneys, yogurt and thinly sliced red onions on top. Omg! It absolutely blew us away! Don't miss this. Deconstructed vada pav: This one stole the show with its presentation, so unique. Tasty Potato filling of traditional vada pav covered in flaky sev with a thick pav crust indulged in tonnes of butter. Eat the crust by itself to get a deeper flavor of the pav! Malai dimsums: Spicy garlic-based chutney served with flavorful rice and dim sum flour. Again, the texture and ingredients so interesting, we enjoyed it! Cocktail drink with your picture: Even better tasting than it looks. They give two choices for the base - rum or a whiskey, IIRC. Baklava Palak Paneer: Indian fine dining, next level. Mind = blown. One cannot imagine that palak paneer in the baklava pastry could complement each other so wonderfully. Must try. Calcutta Pan-Old Fashioned: Instagram favorite? And partner's favorite too! I have a video of the making of this, cannot wait to share it. The bar tender entertains you while smoking the bottle. Drink is an amalgamation of centuries old Indian tradition of sweet betel leaf (paan) with old fashioned cocktail and the result is spectacular! Not mild, but not too strong IMO. Daal Pakwaan: Sindhi delight. The daal was the right consistency and the pakwaans were crispy. This dish is one of those simple dishes yet yummy dishes, not too much masala, perfect for kids too. Yes, they have some fancy items and some simple 'ghar ka khana' type dishes! So thoughtful. Bedmi puri with aloo sabzi and raita: Famous from Bihar, served all over, and a staple on railway stations. The puri has nice texture, probably a think layer of filling too, not heavy at all, we enjoyed the puri by itself and it tasted amazing with the flavorful aloo sabzi. Loved it! Chole bhature: Best. Just absolutely the best, the bhatura wasn't greasy at all and yet so perfect, how! Chole was to die for! Idli vada sambhar: Medu vada is crispy and flavorful with perfect mix of spices. Vada immersed in sambhar was satisfying. Chutneys are unique, a bit different than traditional South Indian food but equally good. Panch puran: Ayurvedic masalas with tulsi and lemon. My favorite! Healthy alcoholic drink (haha) made with Hennessy Cognac. This is that drink which you'll sip and definitely say "oh! This is yummy!", if you're like me, haha! Pav bhaji: Loaded with butter and tons of flavor. Took my partner back to his college days in Mumbai. It's hard to find good authentic consistent pav bhaji places in Bay Area, but this one comes very close, he said! I loved it, probably the best I've had in Bay Area. Shahi gulab malai roll: Must try. Light and right sweetness. Subtle rose flavors and nicely blends with coconut flakes. I am telling you- we went crazy, they just kept surprising us! Mango & Banana liquor firni: The firni is perfect leaving your palette with hints of kalakand(milk cake). The caramelized banana and mango slices are a nice touch if the firni by itself is too sweet for you. If you read this far, haha! I must tell you again, don't miss out this unique experience. The staff is super nice, they explained the dishes with such detail and took care of us. Must try fine dining restaurant in the Bay! The owner is extremely passionate about providing a unique unforgettable to their visitors. And this really resonates with what I'm looking for in fancy restaurants!
I will start off by saying it's Fantastic! Went on a weekend for brunch and didn't need reservations, we were the first to walk in. The staff makes good recommendations, we started off with the recommended mocktail, which was excellent! I would highly recommend the Malai soya chop..Hari mirch paneer was good too, it had a strong green chili aroma, unlike anything else I have had. Absolutely loved the Rasmisu, must try. Overall great experience but, price is on the higher side.
This place was on our radar for a while and I happened to make it there for a dinner with friends. There are a couple of parking lots around that can be utilized and from there onwards its a couple minutes walk to the restaurant. We reached a bit late in the night though were still welcomed with a warm cheerful smile and amazing spirits by the host. We were told that the inside seating was completely full which worked in our favor as we wanted to sit outside and enjoy our dinner. The ambiance inside strikes a perfect balance between cozy and inviting. The decor, adorned with traditional Indian elements, creates an atmosphere that transports you to the heart of India. They do have a corner spot where you could click a picture or two as well. The staff is not only friendly but also incredibly attentive. They go above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is comfortable and enjoyable. From menu recommendations to setting up a quick show with a warm welcome note, their service adds a personal touch to your visit. Elvis was working our table and gave us great recommendations and as well made sure all of our asks with regards what was ordered were answered well in time. Shosha offers a wide range of traditional and contemporary Indian dishes with an element of fusion , and each one is a masterpiece of flavors. Whether you savor the paapdi chaat, the daak bungalow chicken, or the flavorful daal bukhara , the quality and authenticity of the cuisine shines through and through. The chef's mastery of spices and ingredients ensures that every bite is a culinary revelation. As a tradition over there, they start the guests with some complementary crispy waffles which are absolutely amazing. From there on we ordered the Dahi Paapdi Chaat with Ice-cream, Dahi Kabab, Chilli Chana and Paaani Puri Shots. Also to add to these starters we go the Heera Panna , Khatta Meetha Peru and a couple Virgin Mojito (friends mentioned it turned out to be more sweet than it’s supposed to) . Once we settled these in it was time to take care of the main course for which we ordered the Dal Bukhara, Saag Buratta, Hari Mirch Paneer and the Daak Bungalow Chicken along with Mirchi Pyaaz Ki Roti and Garlic Naan. Everything that was ordered was finished with the just a bit of Saag and a piece of naan being left to be packed and carried home. Tells you a lot about the quality, taste and freshness of the amazingly prepared dishes. We ended the evening with an order of Rasmisu and Shahi Tukda. All in all it was a great dinner that we will repeat hopefully sometime soon. Absolute recommendation!!! Now go do that Shosha!!!
Had lovely outdoor lunch on a weekend. Service was impeccable. Good was yummy. Really loved there soya cheap appetizer. Very succulent. Chicken 65 was different but tasted great. Mango pie dessert was really original. Rest of the food was great as well. Deducted one star for service. Birthday celebrations were a bit too loud and frequent.
One of the good Indian restaurants in bay area. Amazing food. Ambiance and interior is kind of ok don’t expect much there, place is kind of tight. I go here for food and its really good. Taste **** Cleanliness **** Presentation ***** Ambiance *** Completely wheel chair accessible. Ample parking in the area. Google maps got you covered.
We visited on a weekday with a group of 11 adults and four children to celebrate a birthday. Our party was seated in the upstairs area, which I believe serves as the venue’s party hall. Unfortunately, the ambiance left much to be desired-there was little atmosphere, the speakers were uncomfortably loud, and the temperature was quite warm, especially given the hot weather outside. The drinks were underwhelming, and the appetizers were just average. The only standout dish was the chili chicken, which had some genuinely good flavor. On a positive note, the service was excellent. Allwyn took great care of our group and was always attentive and responsive. His service was, in fact, the highlight of our evening. The total bill came to about $40 per person. For that price, the experience felt far from upscale, and there are definitely better dining options available in the Bay Area at a similar cost.
Shosha stands out among Indian restaurants in the Bay Area, offering a sophisticated fine dining experience with a modern twist. During a weekday lunch visit, the restaurant appeared nearly empty, yet the ambiance was pleasant. We were greeted with complementary papad with chutney, a nice touch. However, the appetizers, including Pani Puri Shots, Dahi Kabab, and Chicken Sheekh Kabab, fell short of expectations. While visually appealing, the Pani Puri Shots lacked flavor and felt overrated. They just had some cooked moong as filling and the chilled water lacked the kick. The Dahi Kabab and Chicken Sheekh Kabab were decent but not exceptional. Moving on to the mains, which included Daal Bukhara, Mixed Vegetables Jalfrezi, Dak Bungalow Chicken, and Kashmiri Goat with naans, the Daal Bukhara stood out for its taste, while the Jalfrezi and Dak Bungalow Chicken were average. The Kashmiri goat could have been more tender. Monk's Dream, our chosen drink, was enjoyable. While the presentation and plating were impressive, especially for a fine dining experience, the overall taste of the mains left much to be desired. To maintain repeat customers, the restaurant should focus on enhancing the quality of its dishes.
DOES NOT WORTH the money. Excessive prices, not so good taste, and less quantity (this is not a Michelin restaurant). Either need to fix prices or improve the food quality. Service was great. Staff was good. Table Napkins were smelling really bad. Glasses for water were also smelling bad. Better bring your own bottles. To hotel staff, Please wash things properly.
