My boyfriend and I have been coming here for about a year now for brunch. Most times we had a waiter named Mark and when we have him we absolutely love it here. He is amazing, so attentive and nice. The food is amazing, but if you come here I hope you have him as a server because my time here while he is here is exceptional and not like the times without him. So I do recommend it here because of the food but more so because of an amazing server.
Stopped into Salt Restaurant yesterday - Stephen, the Manager, immediately greeted us - very nice - very professional. I have seen him here many times filling in when he also does not have enough staff members - he is the most polite man - Thank you Stephen for another excellent experience at Salt!
Holy moly what a hidden gem in University area! The chef, Kenny even came out to check on us and see if we enjoyed it. It was amazing and I love that he took time to develop a good Pot a feu(sp). If you don't know , your missing out. It was so rich without being HEAVY! Go go go! DO NOT walk. Maybe the handsome chef will come see you too!🥰🥰😋
Wonderful staff, (Keile I believe her name was.) Very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was tasty and drinks very well designed. It was a bit too pricey in my opinion but I had a lovely time!
New bartender, who was lovely and made great conversation. The food was great--pork rib chop cooked perfectly with a warm vegetable slaw. French onion soup was also very good. Just off the lobby of the hotel, both spaces are renovated and comfortable. TVs at the bar and in a little lounge section in the restaurant. I would absolutely have dinner here again.
We go here quite often for brunch and it is always pretty quiet. Everything on their brunch menu is really good. Just a warning, the yogurt is a large portion. Enough to fill you up. We made the mistake of ordering it as a side, and more than half of it went to waste. This is also a great place for dinner. I usually get something beef related since the chef changes the menu with what is available seasonally. I have yet to be disappointed. I feel like this place is flying under the radar. It has really good food for a fair price, but is usually not very busy.
Excellent place for a drink and light food. Had a drink here after a long business meeting and the place had a classic comfortable feel. Leather oversized chairs give a great, homey feel. I did order wings and they were presented very well and tasted great. Drinks were excellent as well and very reasonably priced for a hotel bar. Food was great, wait a little long for density of patrons but not bad. Got the Reuben and French Onion soup... small mistakes in the order but not a huge deal. French onion was out of this world. Five stars on that alone. I would go back.
We brought my parents here for Christmas Dinner at this beautiful hotel. The food was excellent! My scallop dish was delicious, and everyone else's steaks were cooked to perfection. The wait staff were friendly and very concerned with my food allergies. We will definitely go back.
The food was delicious, we ate breakfast my favorite part were the home fries, so flavorful! Zion was our waiter, he was attentive, friendly and timely. Awesome experience !
Charming atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service! This bistro has become my go-to spot for a casual yet satisfying meal. The seasonal specials are always a treat.
Quality at its finest. The waiter, George, made sure the whole dining experience was exceptional. The food tasted fresh, made from scratch, and was very flavorful. The fries were at the right level of crispiness. Can’t wait to go back.
our waitress taylor was very friendly and accommodating. ordered the french onion soup and the angus burger - both very very delicious!! the seats were comfy and the atmosphere quiet too. an especially great place to eat after you’ve had a long day traveling.
You almost have the illusion of private dining at 1060, the dining room walled off from the drinking class eyes in the pub area. Closed for the season, in spring enjoy the brick paved patio, enclosed in wrought iron. It's a good place for business travelers to compare notes while enjoying amiable service at the bar. I was glad it was quiet because quiet is the new top forty for this diner. At most water holes and dining rooms, it's impossible to buy quiet. Although a little too brightly lit for my taste, it's a pleasant place to enjoy dinner on the table and a quiet, private conversation.

Atmosphere was relaxing, light and airy. George was our bartender. Very friendly and accommodating. We had Buffalo and BBQ chicken wings, two types of Flatbread pizzas and nachos. All the food was excellent. Would definitely goback for drinks and apps after work.
It was pretty decent food, but what stood out to me was the awesome service that I got! The waiter was super attentive and conversational; it really made my experience here great!
I go to Syracuse Law School and I’ve been in town for residencies twice now. Came here last year for dinner and brunch and came again this year. Always always always a positive experience. The servers are very nice. The food tastes like it was made with love. If you’re ever around the University and are looking for a sit in classic American cuisine with great, warm people, that appear to love their job, I highly recommend this place. Don’t leave Syracuse without coming here.
Fantastic location for a drink and some light fare. I had a drink here following a protracted business meeting, and the atmosphere was traditional cozy. Large leather chairs create a cozy atmosphere. I did order wings, and they tasted fantastic and were presented beautifully. The drinks were first-rate and surprisingly inexpensive for a hotel bar. Food was excellent, however there was a little bit of a wait given the volume of customers. Got the Reuben with French onion soup; there were a few little errors in the order, but nothing major. The French onion was excellent. Five stars just for it. I would return.
Food was very delicious. The outdoor patio seating was wonderful. Service could have been a bit better, but it wasn’t bad. The prices are expensive, but the food is great. The wine is great & many options. We had a Groupon which made the experience well worth it
Had lunch - chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. Pork was good. Chicken was cooked well, juicy, but bland - no breading or seasoning. Bar staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by food orders but a manager stepped out to help the moment we sat down at a table. Decent food for a hotel.
Bartender was great. Waitstaff were great. Food was mediocre for the price. Kitchen seemed understaffed. Took a long time. Some things were overcooked. Didn't go for dinner though. Just breakfast/lunch. Limited and strange menu choices. Not much of an atmosphere. Felt like eating in a cafeteria. Tbh, I was surprised they called it a restaurant.
Had brunch there on Christmas Day, not very many people there. There was only one waiter. He took our drink order promptly and then disappeared for about 10 minutes. When we got our food order in, the Moroccan soup (very good!) came promptly, but we had to wait a good 25 minutes or so for the rest. The Monte Cristo crepe and eggs Benedict were excellent, the steak fries very good. The sliced beef sandwich was a bit too salty. All in all, good food, need to work on the service.
Food was great, wait a little long for density of patrons but not bad. Got the Reuben and French Onion soup... small mistakes in the order but not a huge deal. French onion was out of this world. Five stars on that alone. I would go back.
Surprisingly really good. We were there for the hotel stay. Tired after a long drive so didn't feel like going out to look for something to eat. Service was fast and and the food was delicious. Just what we needed.
Online reservations made it quite easy to save a table. Upon arrival, we were immediately escorted to our seating. Daily signature items were posted separately from the menu and were easily distinguished from the rest of the menu. Servers were very knowledgeable about all menu items. Upon ordering our items [airline chicken for me and ahi tuna for the hubby] our meals were brought to us very quickly and looked very tasty. Prior to our orders being brought, savory herbed rolls were served. The chicken was very tasty with a zippy bbq sauce served with a nicely textured helping of garlicky mashed potatoes on a bed of perfectly wilted baby spinach. The tuna was rubbed with savory herbs and served with creamy rice on a similar bed of perfectly wilted baby spinach. Server was very attentive but not intrusive. The bill was brought discreetly, we paid with a Groupon and debit, and server earned a good tip based on his attentiveness as well as the great meal.
We had their Mother's Day Brunch buffet, it was very good. The staff was friendly and did a great job. A decent buffet including prime rib and omelettes and so much more, setup very nicely in a large attractive dining room.
our favorite spot for a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner. We've never had anything on the menu we didn't like! Their carrot cake is homemade and top-notch!
Decided to eat at this restaurant because it was a convenient half-way meeting point for a family Thanksgiving meal (buffet). Never again for the price they charged. Turkey was hard, pre-cut, overcooked, dried out, needed a steak knife to cut it. Yucch. Salad was pre-drenched with unflattering dressing such that no one who eats greens for health (such as myself) would ever get want to get near it. So, yes, they screwed that up as well. Poor (very small variety) selection of desserts: They had an apple crisp that tasted “off” with apple pieces that were uncooked, and shallow, little pumpkin tarts that were mostly crust whose filling looked pale and dried out enough that I wouldn’t touch them. No actual pies. Can someone at your restaurant just learn how to make a few simple real apple and pumpkin pies for a Thanksgiving dinner? How hard is that?
I ordered online for pickup and the wait time was 30-50 minutes. However, apparently when you order online through the website, the restaurant doesn't get the order, even though I got a confirmation the restaurant had received the order!! This is crazy! Why is there an online ordering option that is ineffective? I had to wait an extra 20 minutes beyond the 50 minute wait time for my food. Apparently the restaurant has new management, and they aren't doing such a great job. They have lost my business.
Friendly if rather slow service. Standard American food. The Ceasar Salad was good. Some good keg beers.
Waited a long time to get seated. Service was very slow. The food was good overall. Omelet and benedict were hot and tasty. Home fries were warm and seemed like they had been sitting. Table was dirty and we used an extra napkin to clean it ourselves. The water glasses had significant water stains. The coffee was hot but not refilled.
Took the risk that the worst reviews were several years old. Sadly, they are true that the service is slow or non-existent and the food is mediocre and over-priced. Attached picture is our $8 fruit plate. Daughter liked the chocolate pancakes though.
I didn't want to believe the bad reviews because there were so many good ones, but I did not have a good experience. The server I had was very friendly but messed up a lot and it wasn't busy at all so I can't blame high workload and I was just a table for one. I ordered french onion soup and a chicken dish that came with risotto. The soup came out after the entree and it wasn't the right soup. The risotto was so undercooked I sent it back. Got my soup and it was good, then got my entree back- risotto still very undercooked so I sent it back again and ordered something else because I just wasn't confident I'd get a decent risotto. I got the scallop pasta dish which was decent and they gave me extra scallops for the trouble of my previous mishap; they also took it off the bill so I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was very good customer service. I also think they could reduce the portion sizes of each dish because it was just so much food I felt bad I couldn't finish it all and it would go to waste.
Food is good. Bar service was atrocious. With numerous open seats at the bar (perhaps half seating capacity) it took 30minutes to order a glass of wine and the bartender was quite rude.
Server kept allowing his mask to fall off his nose, the food was overpriced, and the chicken salad was horrible. The chicken tasted rotten and the spring mix was trash tier. Will not be coming back.
The place was clean and aesthetic. But it was also expensive. $15 for two slices of French toast, or 3 pancakes. No sides, just the bread products. Service was meh. Got a half a glass of water and then sat there for 30 minutes, with no interaction with the waitress, dying of thirst. At least the food was good and came with real maple syrup.
The new england clam chowder was okay but had way too much bacon in it. I love bacon but... did not order a bacon chowder. We had ordered a vegetarian dish and the pork tenderloin. The pork which I ordered medium came out raw in the middle and inedible. After it was recooked it did have nice flavor but the polenta on the side had none. The vegetarian dish was terrible. It was unseasoned and some of the veggies in it were hard and under-cooked. The waitstaff and dessert were good. We really liked the apple tart, crust was nice and flaky.
Unfortunately, our experience at Salt Restaurant & Bar on Saturday night was nothing short of chaotic and unprofessional due to one staff member: Karen. Despite calling ahead with updates, we arrived to find half the restaurant dark and barely enough tables set. Karen was dismissive and disorganized, taking orders without checking availability and showing no regard for customer service. Guests waited over an hour, some never received food, gluten-free requests weren’t accommodated, and bills were incorrect. Thankfully, Uniyah stepped in to salvage the situation as best she could. The Collegian Hotel deserves better representation in its restaurant. This experience soured an otherwise lovely stay. Avoid Salt Restaurant if professionalism, accuracy, and hospitality matter to you.
I ordered the HALF CHICKEN on pasta. What I was served was a half breast with a half wing attached! Pathetic!
Food was absolutely terrible! Don’t order the grilled caesar salad, it’s just a head of lettuce grilled. It was terrible service not worth $55 dollars. Food possible gone bad, because I had a bad stomach ache later. Highly regret my meal!!!!
The casual racism was excellent and I suggest going if you’re not white so you can sit and be ignored by the staff and not have any of them look at or check in on you. Then you can leave hungry after 15 minutes of being ignored. But if you’re white you’ll have a grand time.
YUCK!!!!!....now the bad reviews make sense ....read the Health Department inspection for this place on syracuse.com This is what you would expect in a third world country. GROSS!!!! MOLDY CHEESE 🧀 😋
We had a reservation for 6:30 pm and we were seated promptly. After about more than 25 minutes with no server coming by, WE WALKED OUT!!! This is my first time walked out restaurant.
Very rude, and frankly racist, to our party. The bartender was very outright mean when people from our approached to ask questions about drinks. The waiter was passive aggressive and refused to order drinks that were on the menu, saying they were out of ingredients when they had what appeared to be a fully stocked bar. They told us they only had 4 steaks, which makes no sense for a restaurant of this magnitude. We immediately booked a reservation at another restaurant as we felt unwelcome here. The only employee who treated us with dignity was the front desk attendant for the hotel. As people of color, we highly discourage people from coming to this restaurant.
Visited twice. Lunch was good. Good food, reasonably priced for lunch (I didn't see a dinner menu.) Interesting food for American but not exciting (that's why only 4 stars.) Grear, friendly staff. Beautiful room. But then made the mistake of returning for brunch. It was empty for good reason. We all ordered versions of eggs Benedict. After waiting a very long time for the food it finally came. Most of it was servicable. But the English muffins were impossible to cut with regular knives. When we asked for steak knives to cut them the waitress was too busy with her two tables to hear why we needed sharp knives. Even with the steak knives they were almost impossible to cut. We had to complain again to have anyone take us seriously. Incompitent staff, strange food. Do not risk it.
Me and my wife are a young couple who came here on a Thursday evening to enjoy some dinner and the first thing the server asked as we walked in was “What do you want?” When I come to a restaurant I think it’s obvious that I would like to eat. The rest of the night we were treated the same way, as a young couple who didn’t belong there and even the manage skipped our table as he was walking around and asking all the customers around us about their food.
We were celebrating our 26th anniversary. This was noted on the online reservation. We had reserved for 6:15, and arrived @ 0600.The parking lot was very full as the event posted was a mayoral rally. We were shown to a table and the waitress Erika arrived immediately and welcomed us. She took our drink order and answered a few questions. We then ordered and hot bread arrived. This was delicious.Butter was provided and was soft.We asked for additional and it was not soft at all. When our meals arrived steak was very undercooked and had to be sent back.Erika did leave the other items and only took the beef. We tried to melt the butter on the side dishes for flavor but it did not melt.We then sent the sides back. They returned charred. The seafood dish was delicious. The beef dish was unflavored and undercooked. No mention of our celebration. The food could have been better. We wished it was.Erika did a great job.Too bad the kitchen wasn't since the meal prices were high. It's a good thing that we had a gift card.Maybe a dinner salad could have been included for the price of the meal. Thanks anyway because it did not ruin our celebration.
Sunday brunch! After Church. A very quiet time. Food was satisfing, service didn't interfere with conversation. I will return and so well my partners.
Worst service I have ever experienced. Waiter was rude snarky and ignored our table majority of our stay. He doted on the loud and obnoxious frat boys. Food was tasteless and they forgot to put the vegetables in my friend’s salad. Just handed her a plate of lettuce. Also the Mimosas were watered down. I’m usually a generous tipper, being that I was a server for many years. our bill was over $150 for 5 people and I gave a $4 tip. Terrible experience.
Here for an event and I get it’s busy but got ignored at the host stand ask about seating to get breakfast and told have a seat anywhere waited another 30 min without a sold to even show a menu. With this our time ran out and we went able to eat anything or even see a menu.
