As a girl who grew up downstate on Sabrett’s and Nathan’s, Hofmann’s are now the only hot dogs I buy. There is just no comparison. Far superior in all ways...taste, ingredients, and price. Family all over request a cooler full whenever we visit!
Are you kidding me!! I grew up eating these at Heid’s in Liverpool NY! We have moved and when ever we went home we go there! Since they ship them out we have been able to get our fix and share with people who will never have the chance to try these! It’s one of our favorite splurges and highly recommend treating yourself! We have some in the freezer now and we’re just waiting! I can’t say enough about being able to have a bit of my child hood sent me! The packaging is top notch and the food is completely cold. It’s comes quickly and they have so many options! You won’t be sorry!
Purchased the german hots on a whim from Aldi. I'm not a fan of hotdogs, but these were seriously the best dogs I've ever tasted. They crisped up nicely on the grill, snapped when you took a bite and had almost a glazed flavor, quite different than Zweigles, though. My older kids loved them. I'll be looking for these again next time I go to Aldi.
Best Hotdogs, Coneys ever ! I have been eating them for literally 50 years and no matter where I have moved outside Syracuse area I always found these and have a great appreciation for Hoffman’s ! I have sent them to US Airbases all over the country so are men and women in the Armed Forces can have the best in the world !
Hofmann's are the best franks on the market, and the snappy grillers are also unmatched. We either travel 110 miles round trip to a Wegmans or order online. My next order will include breakfast links and brats! Delicious!
Hot dogs are my hobby. Sampling them and visiting hot dog establishments. My buddy and I are co founders of the Hot Dog Nation Facebook page. We run the Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour. I'm also Northeast Ambassador to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. Needless to say I've sampled and reviewed dozens of hot dogs and hot dog establishments. Hofmann's German franks are my absolute favorite hot dog. I'm lucky to have access to them in New Jersey at Wegmans supermarket. Yesterday I had their beef hot dogs. Just as good as the German franks. Hofmann Sausage Company is the premier hot dog manufacturer in the country. I highly recommend their hot dogs.
I can't speak for the actual place itself, but I moved to Florida in '03 (from Oswego) and Hofmann hotdogs and salt potatoes (if you know, then you know the company in which I'm speaking of for those...) are some of the foods I missed the most! I was stoked to find a family that had a few Pub and Grill places close to home that were from Syracuse and actually attended Oswego State University. When I went to check one of the places out, to my shock and surprise, they actually served Hofmann Hotdogs!!! I used to go a few times a month, just for that! Now, those along with Snappy Grillers are sold in a grocery store down here! Most people here are a Nathan's or Sabrett dog kinda person. But when I have them try one of yours, they love them! ESPECIALLY, the natural casing "snap"!!! Glad to have you here in the F.L.A.!!!!
I just want to say what a great company Hoffman Sausage Co. is. We ordered hotdogs and coneys on line and the hotdogs came all iced over because the seal was broke. I emailed the company and they sent out new ones right away. I own my own company and I believe in customer service and this company has the best. If you are looking for a great hotdog or coney and a great company don’t look any further than Hoffman’s you won’t be disappointed.
Hofmann Sausage Co has THE grillers for all your outdoor get-togethers! What brings people together better than good food? I do not live in Syracuse, so I have to order online. Every time I order, I get a fast, chilled, well packaged shipment which is great because I procrastinate on meal prep... often! So if you have a barbecue celebration coming up --- Hofmann's! Going camping? Hofmann's! Midnight snacker? Hofmann's Need something quick and easy for the kids? Hofmann's! Need to apologize after a bad argument? Hofmann's! So, stop reading this review and place your order! Don't forget the mustard!
I have been purchasing only Hofmann snappy grillers, beef hots , beer brats and German Style mustard for about 20 years. Added bonus is that Hofmann products are available at my favorite baseball park, NBT Bank Stadium.
It seems like I grew up on Snappy's starting about the same time the company was founded. Well, at least 60-65 years ago in a little town in the "southernteer" of NY. Having lived all over the US I now have Snappy's, mustard, Kielbasa, skinless German hots and Italian shipped to my Texas home on a regular basis. A lot of German, Czech and other central European heritage in Central Texas. Good food, but I still need my Hofmann's fix on a regular basis. Great Christmas gifts to the uninformed as well!
Despite 1500 miles between NY and TX, we occasionally get a Hoffman treat order placed. Fills our tummies. It’s the crisp, snap and split we love. Now, split top buns are difficult to find. When we do it’s mission accomplished. Thanks for sending us greatness all the way to TX!
These are the best hotdogs I have ever tasted and I discovered them by accident in a Publix grocery store in South Carolina. I was actually looking for the Oscar Mayer brand but they were out of them but now I am happy that I discovered these. I will never eat any other brand now - so I hope they keep making them forever.
OK , I grew up in Liverpool....That means Heid's...and that means Hoffman's German Franks and Coneys. Hoffman has been part of our family for generations. All you have to do is say, "Give me two Coneys with some spicy brown mustard and a chocolate milk" and I instantly turn into Pavlov's dog. I order them online and have them shipped to southern Virginia, (unless I happen by a Wegman's as I travel). Some institutions of old Liverpool have come and gone, i.e. the Lakeshore Drive In, Russell Tarbee's Tavern....but thankfully, Hoffman franks and coneys are an institution that is still going strong.
Absolutely delicious! Tender, creamy, with a wonderful snap. They appear to have been hung and smoked, instead of "smoke flavor added" like all the other brands. Highly recommended.
Best dogs I ever had, and since I no longer live in central NY, it is good to know that I can order online and have them shipped. OH doesn't have anything that comes close. I just wish I could order the large boxes of dogs I used to buy.
Moved to North Carolina from Syracuse 22 years ago and recently the hot dogs and snappers started showing up in our grocery store. Thrilled to show my southern friends and family what a real hot dog should taste like. Only thing missing now is the salt potatoes!
Big fan all my life ! Try it your love it! I live in Texas and have my Hofmann hotdogs 🌭 and spicy mustered delivered. Try the online ordering 🙃 4 stars was an accident..added the 5 star because I love Hofmann hotdogs 🌭 ♥
Love the German Franks . Snapies are not my favorite but will eat them My son and I have imported 100 lbs twice to Texas. He has moved to Fla and gets them at Publix and brings some to me when he visits and I bring back about 7 or 8 pounds when I visit . I very often get questioned by TSA but always get them on board One time they wouldnt let me carry the mustard and I missed my flight and I made them go through the garbage and give me my m usterd back. They reluctantly did . I have 2 packs in my refrig now here in Texas. Good stuff
I lived in Syracuse until 4 years ago . I now live in Arizona . I recently ordered one of the packs . It was shipped and delivered on time . Same quality hotdogs that i am used to . Keep up the great job
Hands down best hot dogs in America. I'm so happy Wegmans carries them in the Philly area cause i missed them even sunxe i moced out of cuse. Anyone posting a 1 star review complaining about Hoffmans is an idiot. They sould go buy some crappy ball park franks instead.... there is nothing better out there!
Hofmann Hotdogs are the best, grew up eating them in Syracuse, N.Y. at Heids in Liverpool, N.Y. This past week I had the pleasure of receiving a gift package from Hofmanns for my birthday, in the package was their Smoked Skinless Kielbasa and Jalapeno Sausage.....the Kielbasa was just as I expected, simply incredible. The flavor was absolutely awesome.(no mustard needed) The Jalapeno Sausage had awesome flavor, a little hot for my taste buds (hahahaha) but was still AWESOME. Next time I mite try adding it to either chilli or with my spaghetti sause. Hofmanns are the only hotdogs that are served in my home, here in Florida. I've even introduced them to Floridians and they are sold on the awesome flavor. Please Hofmanns, bring the kielbasa and sausage to the Publix stores in florida.
I consider consider myself as a hot dog aficionado and an ardent lover of all varieties of Hofmann's products. I grew up in upstate New York and attended college at the State University at Plattsburgh. Those of you who know Plattsburgh also know that the city is renowned for several restaurants that serve Michigan hot dogs, the upstate version of Coney Island hot dogs. I moved away from New York state in 1974 and, during the past 37 years, have lived in California, Texas, and Arkansas. During those decades, I have sincerely missed the quality of sausages, hot dogs, and many varieties of "wurst" that I could find abundantly in my home state. When I lived in California, I was a frequent customer of any and all outlets of the Der Wienerschnitzel fast food/hot dog chain. My driving proposition has long been that all 50 United States would be better served by having more hot dog and sausage restaurants in more locations. Some of my favorite sausages are cooked bratwurst, natural casing German hot dogs, and Scottish or Irish-style bangers. Consequently, my top favorite Hofmann's products include Snappy Grillers (absolute best sausage treat), German Franks (wonderful flavor and snap when you bite), and Italian Sausages (truly delizioso!). My personal motto, regarding food (and with deference to the late Will Rogers) is, "I never met a hot dog I didn't like." I have not yet tasted (but intend to) the relatively new Maple Sausage Breakfast Links, but will be ordering those, with my next Pick 6 order, via the web. By the way, the Hofmann's web site is beautifully designed and provides tantalizing bits of history about hot dogs, a.k.a. "red hot" sausages. My lifelong dream has been to open my own hot dog restaurant. One of my continuing regrets is that I cannot purchase Hofmann's products at my local markets in Arkansas. I would be delighted if Hofmann's products were sold in Walmart stores in Arkansas. Until then, I will need to satisfy my craving for Hofmann's Snappy Grillers via web order and fast shipping. Please keep the delicious sausages coming. The world needs more wurst!
I grew up enjoying Hofmann products but had to relocate because of my job. Now I can order Hofmann products from a thousand miles away and enjoy the tastes of home again. My neighbors love it when I get a shipment from Hofmanns and I share some great food with them. It's nice to share the good things in life with your friends!
The best hotdogs I have found in Buffalo since Rudolf Frey left the business. German franks and Snappy Grillers are awesome. I'd like to see more of their products in WNY.
I love all the Hofmann products. When I had my big Cart , I featured them. The White Hots or Coney Dogs were especially good !! You are missing out if you have not tried Hofmann ! I wish I could get Hofmann’s down here in South Florida. Best comfort food ever !!
I’m writing this review of Hofmann’s Sausage because I honestly believe they make the best hot dogs that are on the market. I moved to Florida a little over two years ago when I retired. Before that I had never heard of their German Franks (or of them). I’m a hot dog aficionado as my friends like to say, since I average at least on dog a day. Seriously! Natural casing dogs are what I prefer. I went to Publix here and bought a package of the Hofmann’s German Franks with Beef, pork and veal. I grill my dogs on a George Forman type grill just until they start bursting open. These are so unbelievably good I can’t imagine ever buying any other type hot dog if these are available. I always keep at least 10 packages in the freezer and make them for friends anytime anyone is over to my house. I like these so much I even take them to events and give packs to new friends to try. Everyone loves them. I was lucky enough to get a package of their cheese dogs, and they were amazing as well, but unfortunately not sold here in Florida. Their All Beef Franks are the best beef frank I've ever had as well, but I prefer the Beef, Pork and Veal. NEVER any hot dog with chicken or turkey in them as other companies only use those meats to make an product cheaper, not better. I truly believe that their quality is unmatched today. I just wish they had their other items here in Florida. They are known for their Snappy Grillers and we can’t even get those. So, whenever a friend goes to NY, you know they bring me some.
The Best Hot Dogs and Frank anywhere!!!!! Every time I go up to Oswego, New York I purchase as much as I can fit into my cooler. Also purchase online when I run out before my next trip. They are the only Hot Dogs and Franks we eat or serve in this household for the past 20 years!!!!
A native of CNY, Hoffman’s were a staple! I have yet to find the savory taste of a Snappy Griller anywhere! The downside is that I no longer live in Syracuse, I’m in Columbus, OH and unlike my counterparts in Florida, I can’t find any here in Ohio. Having said that, they are considered a delicacy in my home, just love some Snappy Griller! I’ve really enjoyed a lot of their other products, mustard is great, German Franks and Kielbasa, whoa!! Thanks for keeping the tradition alive! Hope to place another order with you soon.
Lots of hot dogs feature pork and beef, but I believe it's the addition of veal to the mix and of course the right combination of spices, texture and casing that make Hofmann's hot dogs a consistent winner in both the frying pan and on the grill, and even in boiling water if you're feeling a little demented. I'm having two of the German Brand franks for lunch, topped with yellow mustard and nestled in the bun with thin slices of spicy, homemade, pickled green tomatoes. My mouth is watering as I type this. Highly recommended for lovers of the locally produced American wiener.
My husband and I met while working at the Hofmann’s plant in Syracuse, NY in the late 80’s. Almost 30 years later they’re still the only hot dog we’ll eat. We live in Georgia now, thank goodness for Publix!
Love , love , love Hofmann Snappy grillers and German Franks. Now that we don't live in the CNY area have to import them to our home in Indiana. I even send packages to our son in Arizona. If their new mustard is as good as the spicy one it will be another hit. As we pass through CNY on our way home we will make sure to pick up a few packages. Might even try the Kielbasa!
Hofmann recently became available in Tennessee at Publix Grocery stores. Growing up in New York I have been looking for a decent hot dog for years and these are the best I've had!! Love the German and Beef franks!
Saw where a reviewer said they bought a bag and they smelled and tasted nasty. I now live in NC and my parents brought us down a bag last X-Mas...To my surprise, I thought they were literally rotten....That said, we simply tossed them. I just got back from the Syracuse area and bought 5 lbs each of the Franks and Snappy's....They are amazing. I'm not much of a hot dog snob, so no clue if the recipe has changed, but I bought them from a local butcher in the card board box and vacuum sealed them for their trip to NC....Nothing beats them. Nothing.
i love hoffman hot dogs and I have been eating them for years. I make deliveries often to them as my company makes boxes for them and there employees are great people and pleasant to do business with. They have been around for years and there reputation speaks for its self.
I grew up in Syracuse New York. I have fond memories of cookouts with family and eating snappy grillers and real hot dogs. I love them so much that I have family send them to me all the way down here in Tucson Arizona. I used to hoard them for myself but I have opened up to sharing (just a little) and anyone who has had a chance to enjoy has fallen in love. Going to Syracuse September 25th and that is stop #1
BEST HOT DOGS EVER!!!! I moved from NY to Texas 18 years ago. I’ve not found ANYTHING like them here. So glad I can order them online and have them shipped to my door! I’ve given away packages and got others hooked here!! Can you get them stocked somewhere in League City Texas please????
The BEST HOT DOG EVER!! Years ago when my son lived in AZ I was going out to visit him and begged me to bring him some Hoffmans franks. When I landed he did say hi mom he asked “ did you bring my hoffmans” I laughed and said yes! And then he hugged me!! Of course as soon as we got to his house we grilled your Hot Dogs!! He said “ sooo damn good!! Thanks mom💕💕
I grew up eating Hoffman hotdogs and never knew how lucky I was until I moved out west. I now order them overnight on dry ice so I can enjoy again! The best dogs ever!
I recently purchased Hofmann wieners and snappy grillers, and added the mustard, to be shipped to my sister in Louisiana for a family gathering. During Covid, she has been unable to visit the Syracuse area and has missed being able to enjoy Hofmann's products. She was thrilled when a delivery man showed up and there was a box full of Hofmann's!! It arrived overnight, as promised, and was in perfect condition. Thank you, Hoffmans, and the great workers who helped me place the order!!
I've been eating hotdogs almost daily for nearly 68 years and from all over the world. Hofmann's German Brand franks are the best tasting hotdogs in the entire Universe (at least the parts I've traveled to) bar none. I keep at least a dozen packages in the freezer all the time, especially during Covid. I wouldn't eat or serve anything else other than Hofmann's. Your mileage may vary of course.
I grew up on these hot dogs having been from Syracuse, NY. I would love to be able to order them online and share them with my own kids now. We live 3,000 miles away and I have never found a hot dog nearly as good,!
Best of the Wurst. Hoffman sausage like the cherry on top a fantastic blend of meat and spices finished to perfection with the satisfying snap of a natural casing Reminds of the sausages my grandpas made. Real old world quality and taste. Not like today’s mass produced profits with a mush filling held together with binders so there isn’t a textural satisfaction you get from the feel and sound of a natural casing
Originally from upstate New York and grew up on Hoffman’s hotdogs and snappy‘s at Heid’s. Now living in Texas and can’t find these so I rely on purchasing them directly from Hoffmans and having them shipped. Great service and obviously a wonderfully great product. So glad that they provide this opportunity for those of us that can’t get the taste of home locally
No one beats the hot dogs I grew up on. I am 69 and nothing but Hofmanns was served in my grand parents, my parents or my home and now my children’s and grandchildren s houses. That is 5 generations in our family that love and eat Hofmanns German hotdogs! They are tradition. My grandson is a Capitol Police officer injured in the riot at the Jan 6.21 at the Capitol. Once feeling better I sent him a shipment of “home”
When I moved from Massachusetts to Florida. I realized that they didn't sell the brand of hotdogs I would usually by in Massachusetts. After searching and a quility butcher shop in Stuart FL, I was introduced to Hofmann German style dog and they are now my favorite hotdog.
The German Franks are my favorite! I love the natural casing that gives them their snap. I’ve been trying to find Ringwurst (Knackwurst) that was like what I had in Germany. Hofmann’s ring bologna tastes just like it! I’ve been sending the Pick 6 to my family for gifts and they love them too! I wasn’t a hot dog lover until I tried Hofmann’s German Franks! Finally, I can have a little taste of my childhood in Germany thanks to Hofmann’s! Try the mustard too!
What an amazing company with delicious meats. We love their Snappy Grillers with grilled onions and mustard. Recently took a trip to Florida and we will never have any other brand of hots dogs or bratwurst in our freezer🌭😍😍😍😍
I was born and raised in East Syracuse, NY and grew up on Red and Whites and going to Heids for years. When I moved away I certainly missed them and was ecstatic when Wegmans came to NJ and brought their hot dogs with them and now Aldi carries them as well. I will also say I just recently purchased an online order to try their brats and sausages for the 1st time and I’m beyond just as hooked!! They also make amazing jerky and snack sticks too. They make very delicious products and everyone I’ve ever given 1 of their products to has become an amazing fan as well!! My brother in law now gets their stuff shipped to Louisiana too!!
The best hot dogs in the country. We use to live in Syracuse area now we live in Alabama. Thank goodness you can ship down here. I don’t know what I would do without my Hoffman’s.
I found that good Syracuse childhood memories sometimes are true! I always thought Hofmann hot dogs and conies (now known as snappy grillers as the rest of the country defines coney as a hot dog with chili on top) were the tastiest. I was so glad that they can be shipped to Minnesota. They arrived quickly, chilled --well packaged with ice. Eating them many years later confirms that deliciousness and many of my friends agree-they say they have never tasted a better sausage! I particularly enjoy those with natural casings and am looking forward to trying the Italian sausage.
I've tried dozens of types of hotdogs in my 62 years and not a one has come close to the consistently excellent taste of Hofmann hotdogs. Whether cooked on a grill or in a frying pan you just cannot beat the taste. Pair it with there tasty mustard and you'll have a mouthwatering meal every time. Go Hoffman's or go home.
I grew up in Liverpool, NY, and these were the only hot dogs we would eat. The German Franks are fantastic, and have a terrific "snap" when you bite into them. The Snappy Grillers are a unique experience on their own. They too have that "snap," thanks to their natural casings, but have a color, flavor, and texture unlike anything I've had before. I have had what they call a hotdog in Buffalo, and in Rochester, but those popular brands don't compare to these hotdogs. They are perfect on the grill, dropped into a split-top bun, and topped off with Hofmann's mustard (I most prefer the Horseradish Mustard). They also offer all kinds of topping ideas on their website and social media, but these are so good, I like minimal toppings. When I moved to the south, I was grateful to find Hofmann's at my local Publix, though they only sell the hotdogs as of right now. Aside from hotdogs, I placed an order through the website for their Italian Sausage, Ring Balogna (I can't even find ring balogna in stores), and their Jalapeno Cheddar Sausages. The Italian sausages were amazing, I think even better than their well-known Syracuse competitor. The Jalapeno Cheddars were incredible as well. You could taste the jalapeno and the sharpness of the cheddar. They weren't like other brands where you just had some mystery orange goop dripping out as you ate them. They used top quality ingredients, and they were absolutely fantastic. If you're not enjoying Hofmann products, you're truly missing out.
Born and raised in Syracuse, I grew up on Hoffman hotdogs and Snappy Grillers. Was SO excited to see them hit the store shelves when we moved to Florida! Now we’re in Colorado waiting ever so patiently for them to make it out West. Until then, we will continue ordering online. You know you’re from Syracuse when: a hot dog isn’t a hot dog unless it’s a Hoffman!
Have grown up in the Liverpool NY are, Heids was a staple and of courage Hoffman Franks were the key ingredient. Living in Ohio for the past 50 years I have missed Hoffman franks and was delighted when I found I could order on line. Our fridge is now stocked! and we will never eat another off brand dog again. Thanks Hoffman.
I’ve been loving Hofmann hotdogs and snappys (aka Coneys) since the late 1960’s growing up in Manlius, NY - we would drive to Heid’s in Liverpool to get them. I moved to Houston, Tx in 1987 where no good hotdogs could be found. So I started ordering them online and have since introduced my son and several friends to your fine products. They never knew what a good hotdog is until they tried yours! Thank you for continuing your excellence!
I grew up in Syracuse, New York and Hofmann Sausage products are fabulous and remind me of growing up in a wonderful time...I'm 73 years old. When I can afford the luxury I order up my favorite Snappy dogs and have them shipped to California. Thanks for the wonderful memories and your delicious food.
We get at least 20 pounds of coneys and hot dogs and extra German mustard sent to California each year. It reminds us of home so much and they are always top quality and so good! Can't believe that they are not available in my local grocery store on a national level. Whenever I share and that is not too often my friends go crazy and want to know where to get some. We love Hofmanns!
My family Loves Hofmann products. We grill out all year long here in upstate NY. My husband especially loves the Jalapeno German Franks. Nobody beats a Hofmann hot dog period! We also like their Sausages and Jerky. We typically buy a case of Jerky every year around Christmas to give out as gifts to Family and Friends. Love that SNAP!!!
I wish I could pick up Hofmann’s in Ohio at my local grocery store. There isn’t a better snappier hotdog out there. I order a variety of Hofmann’s hot dogs, jerky sticks, kielbasa and other products for camping trips and times with my family. Full of flavor and worth every penny.
I live on Long Island & can't get any Hofmann products locally...so I order them direct or even pick them up in Georgia & Florida when I travel! (Distribute on Long Island please!!!) Snappy Grillers are all-time favorites. German Franks, Brats & Sausages are great too. Cookouts aren't the same without HSC meats!!!
Yep! Best dogs ever! I grew up on Heid's of Liverpool. The real trick to making them at home is fry them in peanut oil, gotta' have the Hofmann's german mustard and if you can get the Freihofer's top cut hot dog buns then you've got something! Yum!
Our family has been buying and consuming Hoffman’s products for years. They are the ONLY hot dogs we will eat. When we moved to SC we would return to Central New York several times each year to get Hoffman’s and of course visit family. We are very thankful that Hoffman’s Snappys & Coneys are now available here locally.
We moved to Las Vegas form the East and were devastated that we could no longer buy Hofmann German Franks. In my opinion, They are the best ever. So now a couple times a year I order them direct. I hate that I have to pay more for the shipping than I do for the Franks but We love them so much I bite the bullet. These are the most delicious Dogs you will ever eat.
I spoke to Alex via phone very kind and I understanding re: the change up in the hot dog. Not happy with this new hot dog. Please go back to the old recipe. Why change a good thing. Please. Please.
Moved south from Syracuse many years ago. Thought I died and went to heaven when I saw these at my local Publix. They don’t have the Snappy Grillers often enough but the German hot dogs are my second favorite - but nothing on Earth beats a Snappy Griller.
Hands down the only hot dog I eat & I've tried every brand that Publix sells in Jax. FL. Wish they'd stock your other types too!! Come on expand our options. I see many Floridians are fans of your dogs & want more options too.
I guess these are from upstate NY but now they carry them in my Publix in St Pete, FL. I have been wanting a hot dog lately but most make be sick with all the additives, msg and fillers in them. This one said German and no MSG on the label and skins so I took a chance. They didn’t disappoint, not overly salty or spicy and has a very creamy texture. It tasted more clean than any hotdog that I have ever had. My only negative is that I grew up eating a very hard natural casing dog in CT so to me the casing did not pop enough for me but that’s very minor. glad that I finally found a dog that my sensitivity issues can handle.
Best hot dogs anywhwere! Publix makets carry the German Franks but no other products...we need Snappy Grillers in the Atlanta area, Hofmanns says you can special order but stores say no. Shipping on web store is crazy expensive shipping. WE NEED SNAPPYS!!!!!!!!! and everything else! Ingles Markets has a large territory in the Southeast. Food City Also.
I recently picked up some snappy grillers at Market 32 while visiting my home state of Vermont, and brought them 1200 miles back to Florida. My father in-law, who's originally from Syracuse, recommended them. They were the best, wish I had discovered them sooner. I wish they carried them here in Florida.
I grew up in Central New York and was basically raised with Hofmann Sausage at Heid's in Liverpool. It's been many years since I've lived there, but every time I visit I bring a big cooler and stock it up for the trip back to Michigan! Snappy Grillers are my absolute favorite! The flavor is amazing and I love the "snap" of that skin! I just wish they were sold in Michigan! I'll order online, but just wish that I could get them at my local Kroger store! Make that happen Hofmann Sausage! I'm a loyal fan forever!
These are the best hotdogs , I’m so glad that they ship, all over the east coast , I lived in Orlando an started to eat them because they were in public’s supermarkets , in Epcot the German restaurant used Grier’s from Sarasota but I will say Hoffmanns are better , I live in Connecticut an there sold at a few Walmarts . A great hotdog
My family and I absolutely love Hofmann's German natural casing hot dogs! The hot dogs have a nice consistency and seasoned just right. When they are grilled (or even browned in a frying pan), they have an excellent 'snap' to them. Huge hit to any outdoor cookout. I get requests from other family members to bring them a package or two when we visit. Delicious!
Hoffman’s is the best hot dog that you will ever eat. Once you have a Hoffman’s you will never eat another brand. I moved to Vegas & grew up on only Hoffman’s - so I have to get them shipped to me but they are definitely worth it. My favorite are the coneys- nothing like them anywhere. Even the mustard is better than the rest!
I am a hot dog fanatic. Co founder of Hot Dog Nation, Ambassador to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, consultant, and reviewer. I've been to over 200 hot dog establishments and have sampled dozens of brands from all over. Being in New Jersey, I didn't get to sample Hofmann's franks until they were available at a Wegmans supermarket that opened near me. I can say without reservation that Hofmann's German franks are my absolute favorite hot dog. Nice snap, perfect texture, and an outstanding balanced blend of spices. Just a unique and wonderful flavor without being overly seasoned. I am glad I can get them even though I have to travel a little ways.
Best hot dog ever! I’ve tried Nathan’s, Hebrew. All the fancy grass fed organic whatever ones from Whole Foods. Nope. I think “all beef” hot dogs are bland and overrated. It takes skill to make a hot dog like Hoffman’s. Pork, beef, veal. Then the coneys. Far better than those ones they sling in Rochester. This company is is almost 150 years old. While Syracuse is unfortunately just another rust belt city in decline trying to re-invent itself. Hoffman’s are still here. I’ve had them shipped to Arizona which is quite pricey for the 12 pound frozen box. But worth it. They need to expand. I think as long as they stay true to there process and ingredients they could take on any national brand.
We are lucky enough to be able to purchase Hofmann Hot Dogs and Coneys at our local Publix Store. So happy that they are available in Hilton Head S.C. I am told by the store manager they are a good selling product. There must be a lot of transplanted CNY'ers down here.
Don't know what is going on with the hoffman hot dogs. Last week bought a few from deli at store. The skin was tough didn't taste as it usually did. Today bought the bag of hot dogs and it was the same skin was tough not the usual hofgmans. I hope they did not change the receipt as we eat these all the time. Go thru 2 bags a month plus some. Do not like how they taste.
I’ve ordered twice because I love the food. Both times the food came basically thawed. The first time the food was so thawed that I had to ask for a new shipment. The next time it came thawed but was still kind of cold so I kept it. Not sure if I’ll order again. I wish they could get the shipping figured out or maybe take more care when shipping. People in Texas love the coneys but we can’t get them around Fort Worth and being from New York I know all about Hoffman hot dogs and sausage. I remember going to Heidi’s as a kid in Liverpool. Oh the nostalgia 😊
I have been eating Hoffman’s franks for 70 years. Many trips to Heid’s of Liverpool and thousands cooked on the grill at home. I feel I am qualified to judge the dog Since this new company, Miami beef , bought the company, the product has definitely changed , even though Miami says differently. The texture and taste are more bologna like . The dogs don’t split open while cooking any more. Dissatisfied and disappointed
I used to love Hoffman's hot dogs and coneys but recently there has been a very noticeable change in flavor (and not for the better). What a shame, locals had a shared pride in this brand because of the quality and authentic flavor. The fact you could only get them if you were in the area made them that much better. Everyone can agree we all would brag about how good our local dogs were at BBQs with out of towers, and they would agree. Hoffman's were iconic in our area, now they are just as mediocre as the overly processed foods in the supermarket. Economic times are rough and we all need to make money, but cutting corners on the quality of ingredients isn't the way to do it. For everyone's sake, please rethink your business strategy.
We live in Upstate NY in the Finger Lakes region and have been eating Hofmann Hot Dogs forever. Next to our lakes, and the wineries; Hofmann Hot Dogs, Gianelli Sausage, and Dinosour BBQ made the area famous. They were awesome but lately not so much. The standard dogs are still great but the quarter pounders are just not the same. What happened? Did the "Bean Counters" in Texas change the formula to save a penny?
Went to Heid’s in Liverpool on Monday, October 6,2020, haven’t been there for awhile, and the hot dogs are not the same. I don’t know if you are using cheaper products or what but they are not my dogs. I am not the only one saying this and if you don’t change back you will loose lots of customers. BTW the hot dogs sold in store still tastes the same.
Hello.. I have to write this because it means so much to me. Growing up , i never ate hot dogs. Didn't like them i guess. Then i was introduced to "The Hoffman Hot Dog" Liked them very much, Especially with the fixings. Well some short time ago , the hot dog packaging changed and so did the flavor. I noticed the dogs looking smaller/thinner and a difference in taste. Now i have no hot dog replacement . A friend also commented so i started online investigating and noticed other people are on the same wavelength as i. If it's due to high demand, why would you jeopardize a great thing? If anyone has any comments for me, please let me know. Someone told me that you can buy at a deli but thinking it's the same dogs ?? Thank U!
For over 60 years Hoffman coneys and snappy grillers was a staple, either at home our at Heids (many other places). The recent change is drastically different in taste and texture. I guess all good things do come to an end.
Just tried Hoffman hamburgers, and did not find them very good at all. The burgers are difficult to separate. The meat is more a creamy paste. Found that I had to really overcook them to get them to be edible. My dog did find them enjoyable. I was expecting the level of quality of the hot dogs and coneys but not even close. Even the color of the uncooked patties were odd. Similar to a regular beef patty but with a white glazing to parts of the patty.
Hoffman’s German brand franks were the best frankfurters you could buy at one time. Unfortunately they must’ve changed their recipe to try to stay competitive but by doing so they lost what made them great . Hopefully one day they’ll realize it Before it puts the out of business.
I have always loved, and still love, Hofmann products, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed in Hofmann Ring Bologna. It had a peculiar mushy texture and no discernable taste. I tried a piece the next day, and again - no taste! It was like a big slice of a generic hot dog, but not spicy, not salty, just pink and bland. Perhaps it was just me. The franks and coneys are top notch, but the ring bologna just wasn't good.
Bought a bag of Hogmann Hot Dogs from Aldi. They were so skinny compared to how they used to be...they did not plump up when grilled like they used to do. Definitely never buying them again. Price is still high and I did not mind paying it when the hot dogs were fat like they used to be, but I won't buy these skinny things again!
DO NOT ORDER DIRECT!!!!! First I have to say.. these always have been the best hotdogs and still are. I grew up eating them for over 40 years. That I still would give 5 stars on. The reason for the 1 star... I recently moved out of NY... the location I am at you can not get these great hotdogs. I constantly tell people about these and boast how great they are. Hosting a football gathering this coming weekend I wanted to introduce .. and possibly boost the sales for Hofmanns. I ordered 6 packages of natural casing.. when I tallied up the expenses it came out to be simular to going to Walmart....SO I THOUGH!!!... My fault for not paying attention to the package I would be receiving. I believed I was getting the 42oz packs.. to my suprise it was the 6 pack of franks.. that would have cost $28 in the store not $97 that I paid.. yes $97!!! I only moved a couple states over at that.. shipping could not be almost $70 ..
Until recently, the natural casing German Brand Franks were the best hot dogs available. At the same time they changed packaging, it seems they also changed recipe. I tried several different packages, and wound up throwing them all away. I even double-checked to make sure I wasn't buying some different dogs. Sadly, my wife and kids feel the same. Now I gotta try to find something comparable to the old Hofmann taste.
How long is it going to take before they realize what a horrible mistake they made in changing the recipe! Countless customers have voiced their displeasure. My late mother must be rolling in her grave! She went to Hydes all the time as a teenager! I had them shipped to my home since 2004. Then gather all the family around for a feast of Snappy Grillers! My mother, father, uncle, all loved reliving past memories with just one bite. Just a few years ago, (before Hofmann was sold), I had gathered family (few of us remaining), and neighbors, to a cook out. Had the Snappy grillers, and Beef Franks. Everyone loved them! Then when I was ready to place another yearly order for a cook-out, I noticed reviews, and not positive ones, popping up. That's when I learned that the new company changed the recipe. Never bothered to order again. Everyone here was vastly disappointed that we wouldn't be having them again. BOYCOTT Until they change it back!
They changed the recipe. They will lie to your face and tell you they didn’t change a thing. They don’t have that original “pop” the flavor is well under generic. It’s a shame food quality has gone down so drastically with what use to be a staple at every cook out in Upstate NY. Please save your money. $14 for a bag of little flavor, squishy hotdogs isn’t worth it.
Why did you ruin the only hot dog I ever liked? I guess I never have to buy it again. All I taste now is SALT and they don't plump up when cooked anymore. Your bologna USED to be good as well and now is ick.
