This is my second visit to On The Fly Diner. The first time I got the Shrimp and grits. It was delicious. The greens had a nice spice to them and the grit cakes were nice. I had two to take home for another meal. Today I got the eggs Benedict. Fresh homemade hollandaise sauce, wonderful biscuits and pouch eggs cooked perfectly. Gray, the chef and his mom Tracy who is the waitress are friendly and make you feel appreciated and welcomed.
I went to lunch yesterday with my daughter Shirley to a new restaurant called 'On the Fly', which serves Southern-style cuisine with a New Orleans twist. I had a delicious po' boy sandwich filled with shrimp, hush puppies, and a special dipping sauce. The portion was generous, and I had to remove two shrimp to enjoy the sandwich properly. This was the best po' boy I've ever had. If you want to try this place, just Google 'On the Fly' and you won't be disappointed.
PLEASE don't let the outside appearance fool you. This place is the bomb. The food is absolutely AMAZING 🤩 and the service is EXCELLENT . They food has so much flavor and fresh you know the chef took his time and is mastering his craft. We were in Syracuse for an event and was looking for a spot to eat and came across On The Fly. We almost turned around bc of the outside appearance but decided to give it a try... Let's just say we came back again before our 4 hour drive back. It's truly a HIDDEN GEM 💎 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Have you ever walked into a room and felt immediately at home? Ever looked at a menu and thought: yes I want everything? If you live within the Syracuse region, get over here. If you’ve never been to Syracuse, here’s your reason to visit. These folks will make you feel like one of the family and their food will make you wish you were. Great coffee. Deliciously balanced flavours. Diverse but concise menu. You can’t really go wrong, you just may need to come back for the rest.
I'm not from the area and was looking for a good place to get brunch and I'm so glad I found On the Fly! The eclectic decor made me laugh and definitely gave something to look at while I waited for my food. The poor waitress was the only one which she apologized several times for but she was so kind and attentive. The food was DELICIOUS! I got New Orleans French Toast and a side of bacon. The bacon was literally the best bacon I have ever had. The French toast was so good! Thick and fluffy. I ended up taking the 2nd piece home because I was stuffed after the bacon and one slice of toast. Would definitely recommend to everyone
What a great surprise this place is! Not at all fancy, but cool and comfortable, and the food is *fantastic*. Some basic diner dishes complemented by interesting southern food and random fun experiments (e.g., the "fruit loop pancakes" sounded ridiculous but were actually delicious, and not cloyingly sweet). The owners are super friendly and decent, and somehow they manage to cook, serve, and keep the kitchen *super* clean (I always peek -- it's an excellent sign) while smiling and juggling everything. I can't believe I slept on this place for 6 months, but I'll be back again. You gotta try this joint.
RARELY am I floored by a diner, but this was an excellent find! (Thank you Charlie Miller) The menu is small and well put together. I had the Shrimp n Grits. Every layer was flavorful and all went well together. It's so refreshing to have a resto/ diner that can put out a product that is as tasty as it reads on the menu! Thanks Gray & Tracy!
This spot is a hidden gem. Stopped by for brunch and wow! While I imagine everything is delicious, here are some highlights not to miss-- first off, best biscuits in Syracuse, period no question. And, if you love bacon, this is your heaven cause there isn't thicker, juicier bacon I've had in upstate NY. Plus, their chicken sandwich is out of this world. Next time we're going to do the shrimp po boy based on what the folks at our neighboring table ordered. Definitely not to be missed gem on the Northside whether you're just traveling thru or live in the area.
🥞Brunch @ Diner on the Fly in Syracuse. Just look at that egg wobble! 🍳 This place is great! House made breakfast sausage, buttermilk biscuits and gravy with purple potatoes, homefries, blueberry compote pancakes , glorious french toast mountain, shrimp 🍤 po boy with hush puppies...so much more to choose from as well. We were initially trying to go to @risenshinediner but they had an hour and a half wait (have been trying to get in there for breakfast for YEARS now, so F'it! finally giving up on that craziness!) Diner on the Fly is great! Family run ( like the mom is actually the waitstaff and the son is cooking kind of family run for realz) The food has a great texture, reasonably priced,
A perrenial favorite. The food, staff, and service are phenomenal! Everything I've tried has been made with care and to perfection, with favorites being the chicken sandwich and eggs benedict.
Do yourself a favor and take a look at the pictures others have posted of their food; it looks and tastes just as good in person! Came from out of town and found this place on Google, and I'm glad I did. The food was literally to die for, the business was owned by a mother/son and the atmosphere here reflects that. We had the Benedict, the shrimp and grits, and the crayfish mac and cheese. Everything was 10/10, you will NOT be disappointed!
I’ve never been so impressed with a breakfast spot! This is absolutely a new Syracuse staple. The shrimp and grits were fantastic and filled with flavor. My girlfriend got berry pancakes made from cereal milk and it was fantastic! This family run diner just gained a new regular.
Absolutely phenomenal experience! I've been here a few times and every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and crafted with care. The gumbo and shrimp po-boy were top-notch entrees while the cornbread, hush puppies, and collard greens rounded out the experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. A must-visit gem for anyone craving true Cajun cuisine in the Syracuse area!
This place looks so unassuming and I wasn't sure what to expect. 10/10 would recommend. The food was not only lovely to look at, but also delicious. We got an eggs Benedict and it was terrific. The hollandaise was flavorful without overtaking the rest of the food. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The purple breakfast potatoes have great taste and texture. Even the music choice was great. It was a little out of the way to where we were going, but definitely worth it.
this was one if the best breakfasts I have had in a very long time. This place should always be packed
We came from Montreal for the weekend to watch the Syracuse Orange football game, and discovering On the Fly Diner was delightful. John and his family were friendly, funny, and welcoming. The cereal milk pancakes are just delicious 🥞 😋. The cryspy bacon on my basic breakfast was to die for. It's an experience that makes you feel like at home. If you are passing by Syracuse, this is a must go to place!!!!
Unbelievable Cajun tasting food! And the portions are huge! And the staff phenomenal!!
Food was delicious and servers were incredibly kind. If I was from the area, I'd be a regular
The food was amazing! I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures. I'll be back, so no worries. The service was excellent! It was a very friendly atmosphere and everyone who ate here raved about their meal. Thank you so much! I can't wait to come back!
Eggs Benedict, I was swinging my feet and moaning every bit. DELICIOUS! The greens were outstanding. Service was super friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Some of the best food I have ever had! The whole place was so cool there is art and cool decorations all over the place, that every visit you will probably notice something new. The owners were very accommodating and made sure everything was perfect. The food was amazing I could eat the gravy with just a bowl and a spoon. I highly recommend this place if you love amazing people and food!!!
I ordered some hush puppies and tried the chicken sandwich and fries that my friend ordered. Let me tell you - the fragrances of the food, the look, and the flavor are all incredible. I regret that I didn't take a picture beforehand but man it was great. I hope to see them succeed or even operate at fairs or events to generate some buzz
Awesome!!! Cajun food just as you like it! Friendly fast service, large portions, delicious! It’s a hidden treasure in Syracuse!
Gray and Tracy provide an awesome, all-around dining experience at On The Fly Diner! Cajun food done right by the man himself. The Son & Mother Duo provide delicious Southern Cajun/Creole inspired favorites,(Made from Scratch!) from Chicken Sandwiches and Po Boys to my personal favorite, Biscuits & Gravy. Paired with a great selection of jazz music, and good vibes, it’s a must go for anyone in the CNY area! P.S. They have amazing Hush Puppies!
Amazing staff, amazing food, can’t recommend it enough. My favorite dish is the shrimp and grits, it’s has amazing flavor components and beautiful presentation. Again I can’t recommend enough❤️
We stopped on our way home back to Rochester and were hoping we picked a good spot to stop for brunch. To say the food was good is an understatement. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which came with 2 eggs and a side of breakfast potatoes. I lived many years in the south so I know my biscuits and gravy and there are very few places in the north that can make it correctly. Everything about the biscuits and gravy, the eggs, and the breakfast potatoes were so delicious. The potatoes weren’t the typical breakfast potatoes either. They had such a great crisp and were cooked just right. The eggs were perfect too. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich which I had to try a bite of. Wow! It had coleslaw, pickle, Gouda, thick cut bacon, and a special sauce. It tasted just as amazing as it looked. You can tell there wasn’t just some cook slinging hash back there. This was a chef that really has honed his craft. If we weren’t an hour and a half away, we’d be there every weekend. Fabulous chef and fabulous waitress.. best food in a long time!
LOVE it here! 2 of my kids took me there for Mother's Day lunch and it was by far the best lunch I've had in a long time. The space is so fun and welcoming, the service was AWESOME and personable, and the food... WOW- It was AMAZING! I got the shrimp and grits, it was my first time experiencing a grit cake and it was better than I could've imagined. I love that they have a short simple menu, it's clear that they've chosen to quality over quantity. I got to sample from the kids dishes and I can say everything on our table was a 10 of 10! Strongly recommend this spot!
Don't judge a book by its cover. The location is tough, not many businesses in that spot are able to survive, but this one has and for good reason. Upon viewing the menu, I saw that it was not typical for a diner and since I was with my toddler, we were going to leave, but decided against it. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. The food was delicious and the staff was kind and inviting, providing a southern hospitality type feel. I strongly recommend this diner to people looking for a dish that is refreshingly different and yet delicious. I hope to see them flourish!
only one waitress and a fair amount of wait time. I sat at the counter since I was dining alone. I'm from Louisiana and I know gumbo. The gumbo there is excellent! The fried grit cakes were different and delicious. The french toast is giant, bring your appetite folks!!
My partner ordered the French toast, and I got the biscuits and gravy. Everything tasted homemade and prepared with love and attention to detail. Herbs in the gravy. Crispy and perfectly seasoned potatoes. French toast served with a balanced berry sauce and a not-too-sweet whipped cream that tied the entire dish together. We would drive the hour-plus from the Southern Tier to On the Fly just to have another meal here--it's that good!
I was there for a mid week lunch. Service was great, but the food was even better! One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've ever had!
Insanely delicious food - kind humans work here. One of my very favorite places to go for brunch on the weekend. Do not miss those one. Shrimp and grits is my go to.
My husband and I Just had a late lunch at On the Fly Diner and if you like good/great food, this is a restaurant you must try. We had the shrimp po boy, gumbo and mac and cheese. All of it was fantastic. On the side, we also had hush puppies and collard greens. These were also wonderful. We spend time in Charleston SC every winter and the food here is just as good or maybe better! The service was also extraordinary. We will be back to try other items on the menu!
Not your average breakfast! Very unique and very very good. Great staff put up with our crazy kids. Recommend and can't wait to return.
Great food, great people, great time. The Gumbo was delicious, packed with authentic flavors & Livy's Bread Pudding (w/blueberries) is to die for. Hope & wish huge things for On the Fly.
Someone call Guy Fieri, he could take some notes from this place. The fried chicken sandwich was the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. The crawfish mac n cheese was phenomenal as well. All the food was amazing and the staff were incredibly friendly. Very much a family oriented restaurant. I strongly recommend everyone cancel their plans and eat here instead.
Unbelievable food. Tracy is the owner and could not have been nicer. This place is a hidden gem. Highly highly recommend . Treated my friends and I so well
We have gone several times since they first opened. The menu is a little small, but every item in the menu is executed so well. You can see and feel that food is cooked with love, Care, passions. We always finished our plates, and we appreciate the effort of the chef putting in every plate he’s sending out so much. The only thing we wish they open earlier than 10 AM so we can stop by more often 😊
Brought my girlfriend for her birthday brunch and her southern heart couldn’t contain its excitement. The entire menu looks/sounds amazing and we ordered half the menu our first time here. Everyone is extremely nice and food was phenomenal. This is our new favorite diner hands down.
Awesome family owned restaurant. They are so friendly and the food We have only been in Syracuse for a day and so far the food has been fabulous.
The food and service are terrific here. And such a cool addition to Syracuse’s diner scene, with a lot of Cajun and Louisiana- style dishes. The owners are so friendly. We had the eggs Benedict and the French toast. Both were delicious. The hollandaise sauce was freshly made and the best I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend.
Immediately upon walking into On The Fly, Grayson the owner and Chef, greeted us with kindness and excellent service. He and our wonderful waitress Tracy walked us through their story, the culinary journey which brought them to Cajun flavors, and the plan on bringing community together. The menu is fully stacked with deliciously well thought out pairing like a chicken sandwich and some hush puppies, or a can’t miss breakfast of biscuits and gravy. I can not wait to try one of everything. I can’t say enough about the tremendously warm atmosphere this space projects. If you’re looking for a new favorite spot, look no further!
Restaurant Review: On the Fly Tucked unassumingly in Syracuse, On the Fly is anything but ordinary. It’s the kind of spot that surprises you—where the food hits with flavor and soul, and the vibe hums with personality. From the moment you walk in and catch a glimpse of the robot crocodile mural, you know you're not just here to eat—you’re in for an experience. Let’s start with the food—a true showcase of the chef’s meticulous attention to detail. The Eggs Benedict on grit cakes is an inspired twist, swapping the usual biscuit for a hearty Southern base that sings with texture and flavor. The scratch-made hollandaise is silky and bright, and the perfectly poached eggs spill golden yolk like a well-rehearsed performance. Thick sliced bacon was perfectly crisp. This Benny was an experience to eat. My husband went for the chicken sandwich, and it's one of the best we've tasted anywhere. The chicken is freshly breaded and extra crispy, the bun is pillowy and sourced from a nearby bakery, and the sandwich is stacked high with house-made sauce, pickled vegetables, and crisp cabbage that bring a beautiful crunch and tang. It’s a flavor bomb in all the right ways. The extra crisp fries also received extra special attention with a touch of parsley. You ca also ask for cajun seasoning for an extra kick. Large portion just in case you'll need to share. I stole a few. The collard greens deserve their own paragraph. Southern-style but not overcooked, they retained a pleasant bite and deep, smoky flavor—some of the best I’ve had north of the Mason-Dixon. A side of scratch-made tomato jam added a tangy, sweet savory accent that elevated every bite. Why do plain tomatoes when you can take a simple ingredient and take it to new heights?!!. This is with every thing on the menu. Visually, the plates are stunning. Colors pop, textures contrast, and you can tell this chef doesn’t just cook—they compose. Quality ingredients shine through in every dish, and the hot, fresh coffee and stellar service round out the experience. And then there’s the ambience: a hip, rocker vibe that reflects the chef’s personality. It’s fun, edgy, unpretentious, and deeply inviting. Be sure to check out the 1st bathroom.. even this was a pleasant surprise. Clean and You'll find some 80s nostalgia. When a diner across the room exclaimed, “Hot damn, that’s good!”, we couldn’t help but nod in agreement. We drove an hour and a half to eat here. We will be back! On the Fly is a rare gem—a place where culinary artistry meets heartfelt hospitality. It’s not hard to imagine this chef earning a James Beard nomination or landing a well-deserved feature on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Until then, do yourself a favor: grab a seat, order anything, and savor the magic.
A truly unique diner with great service. The southern/Cajun theme is a welcome change from most other diners in the area. Hush puppies, grit cakes, and andouille sausage hash stand out on the small and changing menu. I am usually drawn to the cereal-milk pancakes which are sweet and decadent. The French toast is another must-try using very thick-cut fresh bread from the Lyncourt bakery. Service is friendly and attentive in this small space, and the wait is usually very minimal. A true hidden gem in the northeast corner of Syracuse.
In a time where every restaurant feels like a low-quality chain serving the same food from a box, On the Fly stands leaps in bounds above the rest. From flavor to quality On the Fly is as close to the family kitchen-to-table experience as you can get in restaurant form. And while I have only stepped foot in this funky diner a couple times I am greeted like found family. If you're looking for great food and a warm smile, this is the place.
Amazing restaurant. The owner is exceptional and the food is superb. I tried the pancakes and the fried chicken, one of the best I ever had. Please go suport them if you are in Syracuse, you won't regret it.
If we could give more stars we would. My 7 year old said the French Toast gets infinite stars. (Generous portion doesn’t do it justice….if you’re offered the half portion take it lol) The fried chicken sandwich and Cajun fries that I ordered was so insanely amazing! My husband ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, he never knew that biscuits and gravy could be gourmet but they accomplished it! The shrimp po boy hard large fried shrimp and did not disappoint! We highly recommend checking out this spot!
All the food is amazing with the generous portion of french toast and the chicken sandwich being favorites on repeat. The family owned diner has excellent service and clean facilities. 10/10, I visit each time I'm in Syracuse and look forward to being back.
The best brunch in Syracuse, hands down. The shrimp and grits is life changing. Warm, friendly atmosphere, excellent service , ant the quality and creativity of the food is outstanding
We moved in nearby recently and my partner found this place to try. Not only were we greeted by very sweet people and had amazing service, but the food was amazing!! I wish I took photos of my food before eating because the food looked and tasted gourmet. I have tried many diner and brunch places here in Syracuse for years and this is easily the best breakfast I have ever had and we are definitely coming back!
Everything about this place was great!! The food was so well flavored! This was the best breakfast in New York! It is a must stop! The service was too notch! Family owned and everyone is so kind!
This place is a gem. Staff is lovely. They make their own hollandaise for the benedict, which was topped with shaved cured egg yolk and was delicious. They had a great playlist going, too.
Food is next level. The chef has a unique ability to create simple yet intricate flavors in all of the dishes we tried. Ownership is also so kind and welcoming. Definitely will be back when in town!
The stunning photos on the menu immediately caught my attention, but honestly, I would rate this place 100/10. From the very first moment, the staff gave us a wonderful welcome, even offering samples of the daily menu. The coffee was incredible — it truly reminded me of my Mexico. The food was an explosion of flavors, and everything felt like a complete experience, from the dishes to the outstanding customer service. The place is clean, cozy, and very inviting. Without a doubt, this is a place I highly recommend.
On the Fly Diner is a cozy spot offering delicious comfort food with a modern twist. Whether you're stopping by for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying lunch, the menu has a wide range of options to satisfy any craving. The portions are generous, and the flavors are consistently good. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the diner’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes you feel right at home, perfect for a relaxed meal with a great vibe.
Absolutely love this place. Greyson & Tracey are amazing people and they make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. Food is on another level. They blanch the breakfast potatoes in a vegetable stock that carries so much flavor way different then your traditional home fry or hash. Hollandaise for days we had the crab Benedict once and it was literally life changing.
This place is great. I could taste the fresh thyme in my sausage gravy and my biscuits were light and delicious. The special omelet was a hit too. Crayfish, Cajun sausage, collards & cheese. The home fries were particularly delicious, whole creamer potatoes blanched then deep fried and tossed in a salty seasoning. You can tell the chef is excited to be there, not just going through the motions.
I have overlooked this place many times. Finally had a friend suggest it, and it was SO GOOD! The food was cooked really well. I'm a picky fries person, and these were perfection! Portions are generous. The staff made us feel welcome and cared for. The murals on the walls are fun and have characters from childhoods old and new. I plan to take my wife here next time I go. A section was under renovation when I went, and I'm excited for the expanded space. Seriously, stop reading this and just go!
When I tell you the breakfast was divine I am not joking. Bacon was thick cut and melted in your mouth. Eggs perfectly cooked, seasoned, bread was fresh from a bakery toasted on the pan (not the toaster). Potatoes had crunchy skin and cooked to a tea on the inside, also so well seasoned. If you want a good breakfast go here.
Beautiful little diner. Delicious food, courteous staff. Excellent sized portions for the pricing. Definitely somewhere folks need to check out while they're in Syracuse/ surrounding areas.
I was just looking for a breakfast place, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's hard to find a breakfast that has good flavour, but On the Fly Diner gets top marks in my book. The service was top-notch, and the breakfast was definitely one I will find myself wanting more of. Definitely a place to bookmark for the next time I'm in Syracuse.
If you’re in Syracuse, NY, On the Fly Café is a must-visit. From the moment your coffee arrives in a handmade cup that sets the tone for the meal, you know you’re in for something special. The food is outstanding, the service is top-notch, and there’s a subtle touch of Louisiana in both the atmosphere and the flavors. I enjoyed the biscuit and gravy with fried chicken, the brisket omelet, and the classic breakfast, which came with a single massive pancake that was nothing short of a masterpiece. Every dish feels like a little adventure. This is family-style dining with flair, hearty portions, bold flavors, and a warm, welcoming vibe. If you love discovering great spots with personality, On the Fly Café is a true destination breakfast that won’t disappoint.
I love this restaurant and the people that run it. Chef Gray really knows his Cajun food and how to make it absolutely delicious. Server Tracy is wonderful, as is helper Olivia. My favorite menu item is Gumbo. This is some of the best Gumbo I have ever had, and I've had lots. I also love the biscuits (fresh made every morning), Shrimp Po' Boy, Breakfast with Bacon, and Grit Cake. I still have to try the giant Fried Chicken Sandwich (dark meat), Biscuits & Gravy, and a few other menu items. No problem. I can make it there once a week easily. It's a 20 minute drive from Solvay, but worth every minute.
Wow! Stopped in while traveling through Syracuse and found a true gem. Service could not be nicer. Food was 10/10. Bathrooms clean 👌🏼 The shrimp is the bounciest, juiciest, most tender shrimp I’ve ever had. Will absolutely be stopping in whenever we travel through the area.
We've been wanting to go here for about a year now, and I'm beyond happy we finally did. Everything about this place just made me feel warm and cozy. The inside of the restaurant felt like a genuine love letter to New Orleans. Our server was the sweetest and most kind person on the planet, and despite working as the only server, we got our food relatively quickly and she was very helpful with recommendations! The food was by far some of the best that I've ever had in my life, hands down. The Shrimp Po Boy was beyond perfect, the gumbo was perfectly rich and warm, the collard greens (which were mixed with broccoli rhab and kale because they were running low on just collard) were PERFECT, The Crawfish Mac was perfect in every way possible, and the hush puppies were out of this world!!! The price was also beyond fair for how good the food and service. I'm 1000000% bringing everyone I know here!!! (Also, the CAMPS hot sauce is easily my new favorite hot sauce)
I came into town on a quick 2-day trip and I'm glad I found On The Fly! I ordered the chicken sandwich which was incredible, not to mention the hush puppies which were the best hush puppies I've ever had in my life. The food was perfect, but the service was top notch with bottomless coffee and friendly servers always checking up on you. Thank you all! 10/10
First time at On The Fly, and oh man it did not disappoint! Super friendly and welcoming staff right from when we walked thru the door, with minimal wait time and exactly enough "check-ins" during our meal, always keeping the coffee mugs full. But the main event has to be the food - absolute flavor bombs. We got the eggs benedict and shrimp & grits, plus the cajun style french toast to share. The flavors all around were incredible - the lemon hollandaise may have been the best we've ever had, those potatoes were crispy on the outside and seasoned perfectly, and the unique shrimp and grits concept (with it being more of a grit cake) was excellent. Oh and the giant french toast - delectable. Loved the raspberry sauce and homemade whipped cream served alongside. Couldn't get into more than a few bites of that but happily enjoyed it over the course of the next day as a leftover treat! We can't wait to come back to On The Fly to explore more of the menu!
The shrimp and grits is one of the best bites in Syracuse. Fried chicken sandwich is amazing. Gumbo is stick to your ribs comfort food 1000%. Service is warm and friendly. Family feel. The kitchen can be a little slow, especially if they get backed up but the food is worth the wait.
Eggs Benedict beyond compare! Shrimp po boy, excellent! Easy , relaxing atmosphere, lovely waitress sweet and just the right amount attentive. I’ll come back when I’m in Syracuse again.
Cajun Dark Roux Gumbo was a hearty warmed filled dish with mouth-watering tasty ingredient of seafood (Shrimp and Crawfish) rice, chicken and sausage, scallions, and pickled peppers! Biscuits and gravy with chicken & eggs benedict reached the rooftops of my tastebuds! First restauarant I ate at as it's my first time in Syracuse, New York and I must say I will be visiting here again. Family owned restaurant welcomed us with open arms with extreme friendly and great service! As a Veteran, I'm appreciated and excited to enjoy breakfast and lunch meals here. Thank you Tracy, Grayson, and Olivia and 'On the Fly' staff for a Syracuse experience and an epic art wall of mechanical alligator with pikachu, powerpuff girls, and king kong!
I have never had a bad experience here! If you're looking for a niche diner that serves great Cajun food, definitely give them a try. I love their omelets and gumbo and the French toast is enormous! The people make this place amazing-Gray and Tracy and the rest of the staff have always been welcoming and attentive. Hours and updates are posted on their Instagram regularly.
While looking for breakfast spots this morning, we stumbled upon this hidden gem or maybe just hidden to us! This place is SO good. Everything from the chef's choice pancake, which was cereal inspired with raspberries on top, to the fried chicken sandwich! The gentleman who waited on us was knowledgeable about everything they served and was super friendly. Please check this place out if you haven't already. Oh, and they have a homemade ketchup, which is fantastic!
I dont know where to start. My party and I (two adults, two teens) walked into a very busy restaurant. We were greeted with a smile and were happy to wait for seating. That wait was like 1 minute!! The menu is small, which makes picking a choice much easier. Going out of our comfort zones, my partner and I choose options we normally wouldn't. The found was out in what felt like a blink of an eye. The presentation was mouth-watering 😋. We all quickly jumped into our plates. All of us are going "quiet" while we downed our plates. Our server had a genuine conversation with us, and who i imagine is the owner/chef came out to chat and see how things went. Great way to finish the week we had. Can't wait to come back! The best part is biking distance from our place, which means MORE HOLLENDAISE SAUCE!
Went for breakfast at this north side restaurant with a southern flair and we were very happy with our experience. The friendly attentiveness of our server was exceptional—and the food was executed with a standard not found in most restaurants. We had the shrimp and grits; mac and cheese; a chicken sandwich; and a side of collard greens. All were excellent. We chose southern dishes, but they also offer standard breakfast and lunch items, which I imagine are likewise prepared with the same skill. Each dish we had was layered with a sophisticated balance of flavor and texture and was delicious and surprisingly light for southern food. So happy to have found this gem! We will be back again, soon

Excellent service, very good breakfast. The portion was big and flavorful. Egg Benedict highly recommended. Would love to come back again.
The food was phenomenal. My very picky significant other wasn't sure about the menu but after talking with the staff he decided on Mamma's biscuits and gravy and added the fried chicken. He said it was the best fried chicken he's ever tasted. The potatos were out of this world delicious. I had the Shrimp PO boy and it was huge and my taste buds loved it. Both servings were very large. We are planning on going back very soon! Great people! Edit: we've been back 4 times so far , working our way through the menu. We are never disappointed! The gumbo is delicious, Mac and cheese delightful. Can't wait to try the shrimp and grits next.
We were on our way home from our holiday trip and thought we’d stop for a good diner breakfast. This is not your typical diner! It is fantastic! The staff greeted us warmly and presented us with some samples from their special board. A warm crayfish and bacon frittata and a piece of bacon, maple, pecan bread pudding. Both were delicious. What kind of diner serves an amuse bouche? We ordered the frittata, eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. Unbelievable! Perfectly poached eggs, fresh baked biscuits, homemade gravy. We couldn’t be happier or more impressed. If we lived in Syracuse we’d be here every week. Go Now! Support this wonderful family owned restaurant.
Passing through on our way home to Buffalo expecting a normal diner and instead got the best food I’ve ever had at a diner by a mile. Match this place up against ANY restaurant. Unbelievably good. Super friendly staff as well. Gumbo and the crawfish Mac n cheese were both incredible. Even the chef’s omelette and potatoes were somehow amazing. We ate breakfast and then had to order lunch to go. Yea it was that good.
Chef Gray, mom Tracey, chef Olivia, are the sweetest people. They made us feel like family, and made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The chicken sandwich had layers of flavors, which had a symbiotic relationship. Guda cheese, sliced pickels, pickled red cabbage, 🤤🤤🤤 Side of the collards was fresh, and the acid really cut through the chicken fats. I'm gonna say it, it was an orgasmic experience. Excitingly delicious Cajun food. Can't wait to explore more. See you soon, fam! 🥰
We love to try and experience new diners. Nothing is more Americana than a diner. The people, atmosphere, the food and On the Fly met all of our expectations. All of the food was phenomenal from the fresh preserves for the griddle toast to the scallion on the potato hash browns. Every bite was savory from the bacon, to the fresh biscuits, to the eggs Benedict. The staff was amazing, professional and courteous. Dont let the off the beaten path location throw you off. Its worth the visit!! We will be back.

Very nice food with generous quantity. Very unique French toast as it was very puffy and big. Pancakes were large and cooked very well with bottom crisp. The service was excellent. However, it was mostly one person serving all the tables but nevertheless we got our food in timely manner. The other seating portion of the restaurant was closed so some customers had to wait like 10 min for them to be seated.
We are a tough crowd, southern mama, lots of traveling to taste food. This place does ALot right. The staff is efficient, pleasant, the chef came to check on us, the wait staff were on point and available at every turn. Some of the friendliest people. The food was fresh, from scratch, supports a local bakery, inspired, beautifully plated and delicious. Definitely worth a trip to check out this hidden gym. We will be back. I want to try the shrimp po' boy. It looked delicious!!
Family weekend and this place was the 4th restaurant we tried to get a table at. It is now 12:30 and we’re looking to have breakfast 😬Wait was long due to staff members not being available on short notice but my family and I felt the food was worth the wait. People who walked out not wanting to wait lost out. 4 stars for some of the food being a bit salty for us but food was cooked well and there were unique items like grit cakes on the short menu. Loved the hush puppies! Service was friendly and cheerful. We will be going again.
Was it a luxury dining experience? Not to me for things like being given only one napkin wrapped around silverware, there's no ice in the water-the glasses are chilled, they didn't have hot tea and the menu was not extensive. Would I eat here again? ABSOLUTELY! The servers were super friendly and the food...oh my! I ordered 2 eggs, bacon, a biscuit and the grits patty (a-mazing). Seriously-try this place! It's unique and the food is SO GOOD.

Food was good. Limited menu. Out of some items to prepare all meals. No ice in water was kind of weird. Cook came out with food and server, very friendly. We will be back again in summer when menu changes over. Dining area was a little bit on in the decor choices.
