Opinions de Mom's Diner Syracuse
Very quick, reasonably sized breakfast sandwiches. Wish they’d take card, ATM fee is outrageous.
Staff was friemdly, food is fabulous, this day I had a BLT on wheat, but a veggie burger with bacon is my go to :) strange yes but don't knock it till you have tried it as few pieces of bacon make's all better, lol and at times I do want red meat their mushroom swiss burger is juicy and heavenly also...
Mom's Diner is a no brainer for an one of a kind breakfast experience! Ordered the Greek omelette with the Quinoa, Kale and cheese shredded potatoes was amazing. Food was served with in 10 min's of our order, unbelievable!!
Hidden gem! The best breakfast sandwiches and empanadas. Their secret sauce is 🔥🔥🔥
All the food was fabulous. Kind staff and very reasonable prices. Will return on our next trip to Syracuse.
A special spot when I was a student some 10 years ago. The owners were always so kind, genuine and welcoming. I am glad to see they are still in business.
I have enjoyed this place and the family that runs it for many years now. The food is a delight, and this it's atmosphere is comfortable to the weary traveler.
Mom's is hands down the best diner in Syracuse and they have incredible service. They make you feel at home and are very personable people. I love that place!
Awesome Mom!! Great Service
The lentil soup and grilled cheese sandwich special today is divine. It tastes like home on a cold winter day:)
Good people Good food .
Food takes a little time, but THEY HAVE A VEGAN MENU!!!!!! I never used to go there before but now I go there all the time. Love the tofu scramble and vegan pancakes!!!
Absolutely the best diner around. The guys here are fantastic, the food and coffee are perfect, and you can always trust that the they're keeping you updated and spicing up your chatter chatter with a little morning (or late afternoon) news👌
The best mom and pop place in Syracuse. I walked in and immediately felt like part of the family. Such an amazing place. I wish I’d found it sooner!
Wescott Street has a trendy side that shows up at Alto Cinco, the chic taco bar. But the soul of Wescott can be found at the Beer Belly Deli and Boom Babies and Mom's Diner, decidedly counter cultural and delightfully downscale. I think the prices are a buck too high and the need to order at the counter a bit lazy, but I like the solid food and the total lack of pretension.
Amazing love their food!! I went there with my husband to have a nice brunch and we were happy with food and the place the staff, they are really kind!!
We order from moms consistently and the food AND SERVICE is always 10/10. Would recommend this diner to anyone.
Ordered through door dash 2 separate times. Everything I got was delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly. Highly recommend!!
I had the mom's spicy sunrise platter, it was soooo good. Probably the best breakfast platter I've ever had, IN LIFE!! The eggs tasted like they had cumin or some other spice, but everything was cooked to perfection. The diner is pretty bare bones, but honestly the food trumps everything. I wish I lived closer.
I had heard about this diner for years and finally went today. They have very good vegan options, my boyfriend and I both got a tofu fretta. I was upset about a family member of mine who is very sick and the person who tended our table noticed. She asked if I was okay and when we left said she hoped I was feeling better. You don’t get that positive and welcoming treatment at many places.
Traditional diner with friendly service and the best breakfast sandwiches that I’ve ever had :)
What a great find!! Was thinking of waiting 90 minutes at rise and shine but was hungry so we decided to come here!! OMG!! Had the Philly Jersey with sautéed onions!! To die for!! Like my dad use to make on Sunday morning!! Staff treated us like family!!!!
Very enjoyable breakfast this morning. Food was very good and the staff was probably the nicest I've ever encountered. They were so nice!
My top choice for an early breakfast or daytime bite in all of Syracuse. Mom's hits all the right notes in the casual dinner arena: the menu is what you expect, and then the dishes served are way above those expectations. They have pulled off the counter service meets booth service combo amazingly well. I'll stop in to get a Popeye (bacon, egg, cheese, SPINACH on brioche!!!) to go, and end up sitting down because it's so inviting and comfortable. Great place to go for a banquette business meeting. And lastly, the mainstay of any diner menu for a Metro-Area person like me is the burger classic, and Mom's is right on. 5 Stars
Wow what a great diner in Syracuse to go to. Coming from Rochester for business we stopped in based on the location and reviews. They lived up to the hype and went above the call. Clean bathrooms and a clean restaurant in general. FREE WiFi and super friendly guys. They wore hats and gloves while cooking which I was super impressed by. Only gripe I have is the ketchup should be Heinz period. Will def come back on my next visit
I'm an avid diner connoisseur and flew out from California for this place. Nothing like mom's spicy sandwich to warm the insides during the winter. Great fam running the joint. Can't beat the fish fry.
The wait was long but it was a Saturday during brunch. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was worth the wait 😊 Didn't too much enjoy my mimosa because it had ice in it but they were quick to replace my drink with something else. I'll be back soon
Moms is great and to tell you they really care about the community. I had just left a serious drs appt but good news and was hungry but little did I know, I had switched purses and only had 5.00 dollars, the kind gentleman took the 5. And said it was good, even though it costed more than that. Just when you thought kindness was gone, I am glad to know I was wrong.
What a cute place. No fancy but who needs fancy? Nice place to go sit down and have a GOOD MEAL. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE was plesent and nice to me and my mom. I had French toast combo. Not what I expected. They were sooo good. If your looking for a Denny’s? Go here. It’s worth it. Thank you lady’s.
Thanks mom's diner was nice to me on a very busy fair. I work early and miss out on mom's breakfast. The few times I been able to visit it's been friendly.
Perfectly salted and fried fries, delicious pancakes with very fresh tasting strawberries and an amazing atmosphere, abnormal seating and drink arrangements, but due to the amazing tasting food you probably won't even care. Would recommend to anybody that likes good breakfast and lunch food.
They only accept cash but have an ATM available. Food & portions are fabulous, service was fast and friendly - prices low for the portion sizes! Loved it all ❤️
Fantastic. Gone here several times while staying in Wescott, Syracuse. Best place to eat breakfast and lunch, parallel to Alto Cinco for dinner. Never had a bad meal at Mom's Diner. Only get the chance to go here when visiting my s/o in Syracuse. Will miss it much.
Have been going here 15 years every other Sunday for breakfast. My highschool sweetheart and I love this place. Now we take our daughters here . Amazing food and wonderful staff . Swift service even during these hard times .
Great breakfast spot! Tons of vegan options. I had the French toast, delicious! They also had vegan pancakes, a vegan scramble, and a bagel with vegan cream cheese. It is so nice to be able to have classic diner food veganized
Tried going to rise and shine and that was booked out 1.5hours on a Monday. Thankfully so as we were able to enjoy this place, burgers were great ! Avocados and bacon were perfect !
Snazzy new and very clean! The menu is reduced to a very user friendly size. My third time eating here since they reopened first time sitting in house. Always good even better this time!
This is a must-eat spot for breakfast! Locals eat here! Food is delicious and everyone is really nice! My wife and I just happened upon this diner when traveling and will definitely come back!
Super yummy food & beyond friendly staff! Fast too! Homey atmosphere makes it even better. We originally had planned to go across the street to Rise n Shine, but we couldn't swing a two hour wait time. Decided to try Mom's out for the first time and safe to say, we will definitely be back!
I've only ordered through Uber Eats, but they're very aware of gluten free foods. It's very nice. They used a different bread this time and I called to confirm just out of nervousness, but they knew who I was when I called and reassured me. Their food is always delicious as well. I've only recently started ordering and it's been nice. Good place. :)
Happened upon Mom's after trying to visit a nearby place where the wait was too long. So happy that we did. Food and people were great. This will be our "go to" for such breakfast visits in the future! Highly recommend. Bacon, tots and eggs are especially good!
Great meal at very good prices! We came for breakfast when visiting and were very pleased with the friendly service and fresh breakfast plates. We had strawberry pancakes and the breakfast platter and both were filling and delicious. The only disappointment is that I forgot to take pictures of our plates!
An incredibly home-y, laidback atmosphere of a cozy local diner. We are regulars here, and folks who work here are always so friendly, helpful, and pleasant to chat with. The menu accommodates vegans, vegetarians, and people with nut allergies, which is a rare thing for a diner in my experience.
Stopped here while doing a campus visit for a quick breakfast. Zero wait to be seated, good food, good coffee, and great service.
Walked in with my parents, got a little nervous because there was only one other person in here. Was very unsure about how it was going to taste. It was great! Good food, caring staff, felt totally at home. Definitely would come again. Get them more customers!
Typically, when you order a platter at a breakfast restaurant, you expect one of the parts to be a weakest link. The hashbrowns may be soggy, the bacon might be too crunchy, etc. Mom's Diner is not like those breakfast restaurants. I ordered the Pop's Platter, which came with bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and pancakes. Each of these foods were made to perfection. There was no weakest link. The service and atmosphere make you feel right at home. Mom's is what a breakfast restaurant should be.
Why go to Rise and Shine to eat when you can go to Mom’s and be taken care of? Great food, super sweet people, nice and clean. (We always think coffee is too expensive, maybe $2.50 for take away cups and $2 for a big mug?) seriously though, all in for two with tip was $20 and delicious. Can’t beat it! Thanks for breakfast. We’ll be back!
Friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. We all enjoyed our meals (jersey sandwich on French toast, waffle, and burrito) and shared the tots which were a big hit. We would definitely go back next time we are in the area. Thank you!!
Great food. Great atmosphere. We each had a sandwich and they were the best.
Good food and relaxed environment. It’s hard to find a decent place to get food that isn’t a “experience” lately but moms always does it.
This is the quintessential local diner. The food is in the diner style but not necessarily diner food. The menu selection is incredibly varied with something for everyone. Vegan and vegetarian are readily available. Everything is prepared to your exact preference without fail. Mom's Diner is a family owned and family operated, often with the owners being on site and having coffee, etc. The whole staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've never had to compromise on any order, the service is unparalleled. Mom's is about a block away from my house and is the go to restaurant for any situation. Mom's Diner is a local gem that's earned it's reputation and respect of the community. I honestly don't have any critiques or negative feelings to relay. Eat at Mom's Diner, you won't regret it. If you're the type who regularly demands to speak to a manager, there's a good chance that you're already talking to them. 13/10, I would go out of my way to recommend Mom's to anyone.
Mom's is appropriately named. Visiting from Florida, It was apparent that Mom's Diner is a neighborhood gem. Warm, friendly service went beyond fulfilling our breakfast order. Eva recommended a day trip to Skaneateles. We liked it so much that we plan on visiting the Finger Lakes soon...with a stop off at Mom's!
Very very good. Simple menu done exceptionally well with quality ingredients. All very fresh. It is all sandwiches and burritos for the most part but anything can be ordered without a roll or wrap. Highly recommend.
We were in Syracuse for a concert at landmark theater and in the morning we needed a good place for breakfast. We tried moms and honestly I was impressed. It was so fresh and it was like making food at home but better. The staff were so nice and frequently made sure everything was up to our standards. We also witnessed them helping others in the community. It’s small businesses that care about the community that we will always gladly support. If you haven’t tried them I would definitely recommend it. It’s the definition of a hole in the wall- mom and pop shop.
Ordered the dirty jersey sandwiches, Eva who took our order was so nice. We even got their new ginger shots which were the real deal! Cant wait to go back again.
What a great experience. Wonderful people, had great conversations. Delicious food. Will definitely go there again. Happy Holidays and a great New Year.
Great little spot. We stayed nearby and stopped in to get some breakfast for the road. This place delivered on all fronts - the set up inside was a classic diner feel and had a bit of atmosphere. The food was great, we got a Taylor'd and classic breakfast sandwich, and it kept us full for most of the day! Got chatting with Kelly, who was super nice and friendly - gave us a little history on the restaurant and the area, we would love to get back again! If you are in the WC area - go check them out!
Busy but well-run diner! Even with a full crowd, service was quick and organized, and our food came out hot and fresh. What really impressed me was how family-friendly it is. They had puppets, books, and crayons to keep kids entertained. Such a thoughtful touch that made breakfast easier and more enjoyable. Great spot for both adults and little ones!
Mom's Diner has been in the neighborhood over 20 years. A small diner with "at home" type of service. Very friendly, comfortable and affordable. It's my go-to spot 3 or more times a week.
Best breakfast sandwich in syracuse! You won't be disappointed cash only though! I'm sure everything else is great.
Decided to try this place while we were in the area, and was not disappointed at all. We tried their fries and cheese curds which were both phenomenal, then we all tried their Jersey sandwiches. We all left full and extremely happy with the food. The staff was great and the location was super easy to find parking for. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area, we can’t wait to go back!
I have always seen Moms as a I drive by but my husband and I finally went in to buy breakfast sandwiches. As we are walked in we’re immediately greeted and felt very welcomed. The atmosphere is so homey and we truly loved it. We’re both from NYC so we miss the bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. I got a regular bacon egg and cheese on a roll and my husband got a French toast bacon egg and cheese. He definitely enjoyed it because it was flavorful and reminded us of home. We dined out but definitely worth buying from this place and eating in!
On weekends it's super busy and the food takes forever. Not always best quality at that point. Off hours/during the week is better time to get a traditional diner breakfast.
It was a different place , you have to get your menu then sit down and then go back up to the counter and order your meal. The food was good Definitely tastes homemade
In past I was warned about going to a restaurant with "Mom" in the name. But I had to make an exception. Ambience is your typical neighborhood diner. Padded red seats and chairs that they got from an old banquet hall. Tables are wobbly with the occasional folded paper to stabilize them. As for the food, well its greasy, but a good greasy. You can tell the cooking grills have built up years of flavor and its tasted in every bite. I'd stick to menu items that are cooked off the grill, like burgers and eggs. Don't expect five star service, cause it can get busy, although you will get friendly smiling faces from employees that genuinely like working there. Subtract a star because it can be brutal to park in the area.
A total gem. Think dive bar meets local diner. Didn’t catch the woman’s name who was running things, but she was awesome! Would recommend!
The diner was a cute place to eat that was family or college student friendly. I went there for breakfast with my friends. I ordered the French toast which was very good. Two of my friends ordered the breakfast burger (the name is escaping me) and they absolutely loved it, but I didn't think it was very good. I would definitely recommend for breakfast!!
Nice breakfast spot. I go here for the fish fry on Friday sometimes. The guys here are super nice and the food is good. Not amazing spectacular, but you'd have to go out of your way to have a negative experience. The French fries are dope.
Food was great! Service was wonderful, atmosphere was pleasant as well. Order at the counter and wait at a table for your food. Our wait was a bit long, but it was certainly shorter than the wait for Rise and Shine across the street. The TV's were playing The Office instead of news or sports which was pleasant. Give them a try!!!
Fun little movie-themed diner with semi-cafeteria style service (order at counter, then your food comes later - "1/2 service" maybe?). They have a quinoa and kale hash that is pretty awesome. I appreciated the efficiency of the 1/2 service system, but all the disposables and lack of milk alternatives or decaf coffee left me bummed. I'd also like to have an option for extra hash/side instead of toast (gluten free sucks, sorry to everyone).
YO FOLKS, know before you go!!!! With a name like Mom’s, you’d think you can’t go wrong. They’ve been here a while (bonus points), and at first it feels like a home run. Then comes the curveball: they seat you, only to say, “Oh, you have to order at the counter.” Really? The whole place has maybe a dozen tables—surely Ms. Pumpkin could manage that without breaking a sweat. Bottom line: I didn’t eat here or spend a dollar. Walked in with a pocket full of money, ready to support the place, and somehow they made it hard to spend.
Honest review. Good service, delicious food, atmosphere could be better. If you want to have a nice breakfast this place is alright. For 9$ this is a great place to dine in. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a quick breakfast. Nice way to start your day. Also ummm not expensive so it’s nice if you want to save up a bit on your trip. My family enjoyed this and we may return later.
It wasn't bad and I would say that perhaps other things were better, other customers seemed pleased with their food.
Nice diner, great service, good food. Even when they are very busy, they still make your order relatively quick.
The food is good but the menu is limited and it's overpriced because of the neighborhood. The atmosphere is ok but parking is awful. Passable as a close neighborhood diner if you're within walking distance.
I was very much looking forward to my meal here today, unfortunately I never did. Very crowded, waited 50 mins for my tofu scramble made with moms signature spices, to come out. When it did it was so spicy it was not edible. I told the waitress who offered other selections. I was not interested. Then she made the offer to have a new dish made without the spices which took an additional 20 mins. The food was packaged and will go home for someone else to eat. I have lost my appetite. When speaking with the manager she was extremely apologetic and insisted that I come back and try again. Customer service at its best.
Decent breakfast fare at diner prices. A good option in Syracuse. You order then sit down. Beware of drafts as the door opens and closes, especially in Winter. Not a place to have a quiet morning.
Need better signage so that people understand the process. We were able to get a table but sat there until we decided to get up and ask if we could get service at the table then they explain to us that we need to place our order pay for it and wait for it to be delivered to our table or we can pick it up from the counter. At the prices that we were charged I would really have expected better service. The food wasn't bad
Diner food with a twist The twist is that you have to serve yourself! Food was good but not a traditional diner experience and don't feel there should be a price premium when I am doing half the work.
Prices were outrageous for a diner. We went for breakfast and it the parking meter across the street didnt work, had to walk all the way up a block to the next one the owner was rude, they want you to pay before your food even arrives and ask for a tip before food even got sent to the kitchen staff. The waitress was nice but all she did was drop our food off and I didnt see her again, not at our table anyways. I got french toast and it wasnt even cooked through all the way. We went bc the ratings were good and were looking for a quick cheap breakfast. We learned our lesson. For 2 eggs home fries and toast it was almost 8 dollars!
Food was great, service however not as much the lady at the register was very nice and speedy. The waitress we had today said that we took a man’s spot when we had been there before him and told him I had other people with me when he tried to sit by me, she gave me a lot of attitude as well when she made that statement. Ruined the vibe for me!
I am from a few hours out of town and I used to go to school in the area. I travel in to have Mom's and more than once have I driven with others only to be turned down at the door because they have decided to close early. The food is wonderful but the last few trips I have been turned away. Today my partner and I traveled hours for Moms. I checked their hours. Double checked. And even arrived over an hour before close but was still turned away despite there being people inside who were being served. I can no longer recommend this place to my friends because the hours have become unreliable and I can't count on them actually being open and serving. I used to love this place in college and went daily but now I am disappointed. Would love to keep coming here but it's difficult to plan the trip if I'm not sure I will be served.
If I could give negative stars. I would! I am not normally one to leave bad reviews. I just wont order again, but this place if absurd! I've ordered from here a handful of times and they're either slow! Or just awful! I got breakfast from here this morning and it was terrible! Steak was OVER COOKED, as well as the eggs. And the rest of it was COLD! I will NOT BE ordering from yall again!
I noticed that you tend to blame others when a bad review is written (ie) delivery service if you are having bad reviews on delivery company change the service. Also people should not have to ask if you can serve them a traditional breakfast as in eggs toast and homefries. It seems like you are changing your menu to accommodate the people you hire not the people who keep you in business like customers. No need for you to leave a rebuttal.
Food and service sub par at best. Table was dirty. Take your business elsewhere!
Waited an hour for 1 omelet. Got it and the toast wasn't even toasted just a slice of bread. The rest was fine.
Obviously not okay. Please package your food better and deliver utensils. The quality has gone down since COVID had begun. This is just unacceptable. For consumers, take a look through the gallery to see how the food quality has declined from Moms. I also would like to acknowledge the meat and the difference. I hate to constantly blame 3rd party services but I cannot blame a driver for the complete difference in quality.
