Opinions de Phil's BBQ Temecula
This place never lets me down! Great food, great customer service, and reasonable priced. I had the beef rib tickler for less than $20… it came with fries and coleslaw. Good enough for me… super filling. A shout out to Dumari for his excellent customer service and patience with me. I was visiting Temecula to perform some handy work but I didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast so I was all disoriented and starving when I got to Phil’s. Dumari just smiled and took my order as I didn’t make sense. You rock Dumari!
Used to drive to San Diego to enjoy Phil’s BBQ. Still the best Bbq around. The sauce!! We get the full rib dinner and el toro. Large portions with a great price! Add the link and drink and it’s a perfect meal.
Phil's is a perfect spot to grab a beer & bbq after a long work day or simply to take care of that craving. I love bbq and I just discovered this gem, I'm glad I did! Tried their BBQ Broham Sandwich which is filled with pulled pork shoulder on a bed of Cole slaw topped with bbq sauce, delicious! Beer is served perfectly cold. Lots of parking, restaurant is clean and staff is awesome! Will definitely return to try other menu items.
This was our first time coming to Phil's and it was everything we were hoping for. Kyle immediately greeted us and was so helpful. The baby back ribs were tender and flavorful. My beef ribs were meaty and delicious. The wings had a wonderful seasoning and bbq sauce. The only suggestion I would make is to serve the Caesar salad cold. Mine was kind of warm. Other than that everything was excellent.
Always love coming to Phil’s every time I head down to San Diego so I was happy they opened a Temecula location. I sat at the bar and Christopher took really good care of me! Had two plates of food because why not and the strawberry lemonade was more vodka than lemonade!! Food is always delicious, and the sauce is always delish
Absolutely insane value on the rib tickler meal for $12.99. So much food I can never finish all the sides. The ribs are to die for, fall off the bone. Great crust and smoke. Sauce is a little sweet but still delicious. Ranch is delicious and their cole slaw is the best I've ever had. Only thing missing is brisket? Which is almost a crime for a BBQ place but everything else is so good it's not a deal breaker.
The beef ribs were falling off the bone good. The coleslaw is my fav, I added a splash of malt vinigar to mine. The onion rings are perfect and I’m selective about rings. Even the ranch is delicious buttermilk style ranch. They don’t carry Coca-Cola which is my only criticism because I enjoy a cold Coke with my BBQ. Dr.Pepper was my 2nd choice. We also had the wings for appetizer which were good as well.
We ordered the full rack baby back ribs and it was delicious! This place is really busy for a reason. Very accommodating for our large group. Definitely coming back!
As far as BBQ chains are concerned Phil's is by far some of the best BBQ take out I've ever had. The baked beans where savory not overly sweet and so was the BBQ sauce. The potato salad tasted homemade and the meat off of the baby back ribs fell off the bone. The try tip came in thin slices for sandwiches or a la carte but still very juicy. The sausage was delicious, juicy with a savory Cajun crisp. The chicken was cooked right and not dry. The service was very good, they asked us if we would give up our table for a bigger group which was no problem for us and just for saying yes the manager brought us onion rings as a thank you. Phil's BBQ is one of my new favorite spots for sure. 10/10 👍🏽🌶🥩🍗🍖🍔
The food was outstanding I had the beef ribs and bone in chicken and everything was perfect and the portions were huge the staff was really helpful with addressing my wife's food allergies and had a chart with what the ingredients were in the food and took the time going through explaining everything
Excellent customer service. Super friendly order taking from Cadence. She was so nice. Thank you.
Fantastic BBQ! Exactly like the San Diego locations without the long lines. The beef ribs were charred, juicy, and flavorful. The chick-less (boneless) dinner has large chunks of all white meat chicken. The sauce is sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy. The sides are all very tasty (cole slaw, potato salad, corn bread, beans, and baked potato) as well. One of, if not my favorite BBQ spots!
Tried this place by luck! It has huge huge portions delicious food I mean delicious I will be coming back once a week!!!
A must!! Phil’s BBQ always is the BEST OPTIO if you are looking for this kind of food. You won’t regret it! First time to this location (they have more in San Diego) and it was a great experience. It’s clean, great service and good vibes! We are in love with the ribs (specially the beef ones!), huge portions, good amount of sauce and perfectly cooked! Yummy! Actually, you know what? I think we will dine in again tonight! Counting the minutes! Highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were taken here when we were visiting family in Temecula. We hit the happy hour deals. The BBQ was delicious and the portions were big. In fact, I never expected so much quality food on a happy hour menu. It was a great experience!
Hit up Phil's for lunch today and ordered their Rib-less Tickler! You can never go wrong with Phil's! A San diego Go-To for years! We love sitting at the bar and not dealing with the long lines, but those lines are there for a reason; the food, the staff, and the experience! Ask for Jesse at the bar, he's the best bartender in Temecula!
I came a day before mother's day to celebrate mothers day a day early with my family. Upon arriving there's two ways to dine, the left is kinda like a fast food service option while on the right it's dine in, full service. Billy was our bartender/server, he was amazing and very accommodating. The drinks to my surprise are made very well and pretty cheap in comparison to other places. We got a long island and a prickly pear margarita. The food was a lot and worth it for left overs, I enjoyed the flavor of the BBQ, it was not overpowering in sweetness and had a different taste to it. Also, the fries do not come with any of the sandwiches. My mother also has dietary issues so she got the turkey burger and said she didn't feel it affect her like other places do. All in all, I will be coming back.
Love sitting in bar area. Great service. Best onion rings ever, wings, baby backs and beef ribs. The tickler is a great option when you don’t want a whole order of onion rings. We drive 91 miles to enjoy lunch, great beer and bring yummy food home for 2 meals along with bbq sauce for grilling at home.
Solid meals and drinks. Ordered the Philibuster. It is a whopping large burger. Their onion rings are big big. BBQ sauce isn’t too sweet, tastes balanced. Festive dining area, friendly people. Great food, awesome place. I will definitely be returning with my whole crew 🦜🏴☠️ Yar!!!
We were here on a Monday a little after noon. The atmosphere in the bar area was pleasant, and our server/the bartender, Shay, was attentive and informative. We ordered the Philibuster sandwich with fries and the spare ribs and chicken combo, with a baked potato on the side. Our food was hot, well plated, and good for the value. My ribs were fall off the bone, as well as my leg/thigh quarter. Everything was juicy and well seasoned. The philibuster sandwich was packed with pulled pork and topped with a giant onion ring. It was a great meal, paired with Phil’s flavor of the month beer (a tropical hazy IPA) and the Phil’s Hawaiian cocktail. We’ll definitely be back, as they have great deals and good service.
I was craving BBQ, and I'm so glad I went there. I've had pasted by a million times, but just didn't stop because it didn't seem worth it. Well, update, it was so worth it. My boyfriend and I went 8pm on a Saturday, and it was ten minutes max before we got our food! (Pulled pork sandwich & boneless ribs) Here's the best part, while we were waiting, I asked what Rescue some of the money was going to, we'll instead of just answering my question, Nick was able to give the owners story. The wine I included, a sangria made from that wine and (possibly other others items) have a 100% profit to the rescue. Nick showed me this Beautiful book by the front door filled with horses that have been helped. Apparently the wine is made right here in Escondido on the horse ranch and is bottled in Fallbrook!!! It was the first time I in a very long time I had any engagement from the staff while waiting from my take out. Also the food was MELT in your mouth!
If I could give this place six stars, I would. Not for just the food, which is superb, especially the beef ribs (one rib is filling on its own, and you get five for a full order), but the service is the best I've experienced yet. We had a little hiccup on our take out order today (I own part of it since I didn't check my order upon leaving), bit the general manager, Mr. Daniel, went above and beyond to make it right, to a level I didn't think existed anymore on this day and age. Looking forward to our next visit!
The food here is AMAZING. My family and I have gone to many BBQ establishments but Phil's BBQ has to be one of the best eateries we have been to. The ribs were very flavorful, you can taste the smoke and the ratio of meat to fat was fantastic. It's not like other places where the quality of the meat is poor and is mostly fat. My personal favorite was the El Toro brisket sandwich. Not only was the meat tender and smokey, but the sauce they add had a nice spicy undertone that really tied up the sandwich well. As far as the inside of the establishment, it is very clean. The staff is very friendly but be warned that they get really busy! Thankfully, they have 2 separate lines when ordering: Dine-In and Take-out. Seating may be an issue depending what time and day of the week you go, and there aren't any 'saving seats.' It's worth the wait.
The Food is Great! The Coleslaw! The Ribs! The pulled pork! The staff is ALWAYS friendly inviting and welcoming. They are engaging and helpful. This was our second time here. We will be back for sure! The prices are good too!
This is one of the best places for good times with the family,on a date night with the wife or friends perfect vibe good service actually amazing service and food is always at it's finest 😁 yes they have seating in the bar area and serve you there or sit in the restaurant section after you order your food at the registers but must try if you haven't already 💯💪🏽
Me and the kiddos had a wonderful time at this location. The service is always spectacular. They clean up after you so be sure to tip. I had amazing customer service from the cashier named Riley. She's amazing!
We were excited when we first saw that Phil's would have a location near us in Temecula. This is our third time at this location (ate here twice and ordered to go once). Went for dinner tonight (Thursday) around 5pm (we were a group of 4 adults and 1 toddler). Line to order food was not long, parking lot wasn't full, plenty of indoor seating available (and some outdoor seating too), and friendly service (employees came around to ask us how we were doing and is we wanted stuff cleared from our tables too). We ordered a full baby baby rib plate, half chicken and rib plate, bbq cheeseburger, full onion rings, and cornbread (see attached photos). Everything was delicious--the meat on the ribs were so tender and fell off the bone, and the bbq sauce was on point. Onion ring batter was so good too and crunchy. The corn bread was delicious and tasted like it had a hint of lemon and was dense like southern cornbread. Last time we dined in, the cornbread tasted different (still great!) -- almost had the consistency of angel food cake. Highly recommend and great for families, friends, dining by yourself -- friendly and welcoming atmosphere (big TVs in the center of the indoor dining area; and there's a bar to the right side of the main entrance of you want a drink) and great food that hits the spot. Enjoii.
I've been coming here since it opened. The soft opening was the first time I ever came here and I ate for free the first time ever. Now some of that glamor has worn off and resulted in an accurate representation of the restaurant. The bar while active does echo and is fairly lonely, not for the people but for the conversations. Most of the patrons aren't there for the conversation. The food is excellent I would never dream of knocking it. The sauce is very unique and you either love this place or you don't go. That being said it's pretty no frills, big cement room, a few well placed sinks for post rib cleanups and TVs everywhere. People mind their own dinners very down tempo. The pricing isn't cheap but you get what you pay for, which is a generous helping of food.
First Time There. Had Heard About This Place Through Relatives. It Was Very Nice, Very Big Place And Got In Pretty Quick. The Lady Working The Line Was Tammy. She Was So Nice, Very Helpful And Informative. Helped Us So Much In Our Food Selection And Helping Us Get A Place So We Could All Sit Together. We Got Our Drinks...But The First Time I Got The Sweet Tea. It Wasn't Sweet But The Second Time They Filled It Up It Was Way Better.! Got Our Food Pretty Quick. Nice And Hot And It Was Very Good. Our Party All Ordered Different Food Choices And So We Tired Pretty Much Everything. We Loved The Big Pickles. I Only Wish The Cornbread I Ordered Was Hot So It Would Have Melted The Tasty Butter That Came With It. But It Was Delicious. Thanks Again "Tammy" For Starting Our First Time There Very Inviting. You Rock Tammy. Loved Your Assistance The Atmosphere Was Great. I Liked All The TV's. We Enjoyed Our Dinner There. And Thanks Again...Tammy For All Your Help. Will Be Back Again When We Come This Way. Thank You...God Bless..!!
The food here was amazing. The meat was so soft and extremely juicy and the barbecue sauce was great. I personally loved the baby back ribs the best, but the beefy ribs and chicken were also good. The sausage link is amazing I highly recommend it. The tri-tip was deli-sliced, and was very smokey. The side dishes — the coleslaw, potato salad, mac salad, fries and baked beans — were ALL so amazing. The onion rings were very crispy and super yummy with their homemade buttermilk ranch dressing. The fresh giant pickle was refreshing and I highly recommend it if you like pickles! The cornbread with maple butter was also good but I wished they sold it in smaller portions. Phil’s BBQ is always so busy and packed, but the service was so friendly and quick. I’ll definitely be back for the bbq… at any of their locations!
I spent 4 hours driving on mother's day to make sure my mom had her favorite meal to eat from phils BBQ. She have been talking about her mouth be watering for Phils but she have been so busy at work. She works 911 on the military base. So I made sure to shock her with the boneless ribs, potato sald, salad, beans with a large baked bean on the side. She loves their baked beans. She texted me that night st work saying she should have brought a bib lol
It was my first time but food was so nice and place is so fancy. If you are with your family, you will create a really good memory.
This is the best barbeque in Southern California. Nothing comes close for the quality, serving sizes, and price. Fast service, kind & attentive staff, hot food, fantastic flavor.
Phil's is the bomb dot com! Food was great! Huge portions, good pricing. I liked that you walk up and order first then they bring the food. We tried another place first and the wait was over an hour, here we got right in even though they were busy. They get you with all that BBQ smoke flowing out when you walk in. 5 stars!
Absolutely incredible! The food is packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and always hits the spot. The portions are generous, the service is quick and friendly, and the whole place runs smoothly even when it’s busy. Honestly, if Google allowed it, I’d give them 10 stars highly recommend to anyone craving amazing barbecue!
This place is located right off the freeway. There are lots of free parking spaces available. This place is divided into two areas, the bar side and the family dining area. They have cafeteria-style dining. You order first at the counter and they hand you a buzzer. Beef ribs are juicy but on the sweet side. They had no brisket available. Pretzels were a little bit overcooked, but it was still soft in the inside. Burgers were delicious. The soda fountain was self-serve.
Phil’s BBQ in Temecula is incredible. I tried the Philabuster BBQ Burger and it was next level — juicy, charbroiled, loaded with bacon, BBQ sauce, cheese, and an onion ring. They also have an awesome selection of cold beer on tap, perfect combo with the burger! Great food, great drinks, and great vibes. Can’t wait to go back!

Forst time eatting at Phil's BBQ & man gotta say if ever back in the area will be stopping for a bite to eat . Food tasted like a good ol southern cooking ! Ordered a little bit of everything especially for our first time visit .can't go wrong food packed with flavor & the portions are plenty to get you full & even for a take home container.
Went on Friday night around 9 and there was no wait. The cashier was friendly, helpful, and patient. Prices are good. We got sandwiches and they were ready in less than ten minutes. There was so much meat that I had to remove half of it to take a bite. It was delicious. I would definitely go back and recommend

Good food but not spectacular. No brisket was a disappointment. You most of the work here yourself, orderat the counter, find your own table and pick up your own food.
The food here was what's good as other places but I think I went there a little too early because the food was a little bit colder than not fresher than other barbecue phills
The baby back ribs were good and tender, but swimming in sauce. The sides, Coleslaw, beans, Mac & cheese and fries were all tasty.
The food was great! We ate at bar and the service was very good. I was happy to see they had a beer I hadn't had for a while. Atmosphere was modern but pretty sterile.
I would like to take note of the cornbread incident. We got an appetizer cornbread and it came to the table cold, with cold butter. The picture on the menu depicted a warm steamy loaf, with butter seeping in the cracks. What the got was a dark, sad shell of what it could have been. I’m hoping things change in the future. I will be back because there is hope.
The ribs were tender and full of that signature smoky taste, and the crispy fries were the perfect side—hot, golden, and seasoned just right. The sliced tri tip was spot on, juicy and packed with flavor, and the sausage link had that great snap when you bite into it. The only thing I’d note is the baked beans were a bit on the sweeter side for my taste, but still enjoyable overall. All in all, great food and great portions—definitely worth the visit if you’re craving some solid BBQ!
I always get the burger with the pulled pork and onion ring in it and it never disappoints and my hubby got the pork ribs and they were good but nothing compared to the ribs at Jack's BBQ in elsinore. As for the sides the baked beans were good, but they give you really bad gas later. The potato salad I wouldn't get again bc it wasn't good so maybe they need a need recipe for it like my Momma's. The fries were the best side that we got by far they were crunchy and tasted homemade. The only thing your missing is a sample plate like Jack's BBQ has where you can try all the different meats at the same time and share with your partner! The sweet tea was good too eventhough it was the bottom of the barrel bc we went late at night, but the tea is better then Popeyes sweet tea bc it's not too sweet just the right amount of sweetness!

I had the pork rib tickler with a side of beef rib, I’ve eaten at this place before and the food is just ok HOWEVER it could be amazing IF they would ensure that the food AND sauces are HOT with temperature, the ribs NOR the sauce should be lukewarm, you should be able to put the ribs over OR whatever meats on your grill to get them HOT and put the sauce in a pan and heat it up also… If a customer can get their food HOT with temperature they more than likely will look past everything else… Each time that I have went here it wasn’t overly busy so I don’t understand why this doesn’t happen… Will return and would recommend to anyone…
This place is a fun spot. There's two sides, one where you are seated and served the other you oder at the counter and pick up your food. We opted for the service side. They are very busy, and perhaps that may be why customer service is lacking a bit. Having flagging down a server can be tasking. The food was ok. Would I go back maybe. 🤔
While staying in Mission Bay, we decided to give Phil’s BBQ a try after seeing so many great reviews. The place was packed, which is usually a good sign, but to their credit, they handled the rush well and got our order out fairly quickly. We ordered the Beefy Rib Dinner and chicken. The portions were decent, but for the price, we expected more in terms of flavor and quality. The ribs had a good amount of meat, but the taste wasn’t anything extraordinary. The chicken was okay—not dry, but also not as flavorful as we had hoped. Overall, Phil’s BBQ is efficient and popular, but for the premium prices, the food could be more impressive. It’s worth trying once if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it again

This was our first visit to Phil's. service was attentive but the food was just average. No need for us to return again.
Our whole family picked this place to eat. We ordered and our food came out. First thing my wife's boneless rib dinner was cold. I requested and paid the difference for an order of ribs. Then I asked for coleslaw and got baked beans. I had asked if the beans were made in house or canned. Her response was canned that's why I didn't want the beans. Next I ordered the Tri Tip sandwich which was over sauced. I also added a beef rib now that one was in fact pretty good. The colossal onion rings were the best part of our meal. Here comes the reason for not returning my daughters and her husband food took sooooo long that we had all had finished our meal and they were still waiting. Every time we approached they kept saying almost done just waiting, it was bbq chicken quarter and chicken wings. It took them 40 minutes to get their food served. Not even an apology or anything. There was a lot of joking around in the kitchen. I really love bbq food but this place is all hyped up. They show you how the reviews on google say how customers love Phil's BBQ, well unfortunately not this time.
Despite all the great reviews I was unimpressed. First we had to wait about fifteen minutes before we could place our order and then only because a wonderful employee opened up a second register. Prices were high and the BBQ was average at best. I got a big piece of gristle in mine and the fries were room temperature.
Underwhelming to say the least. Ribs were dry, sausage link was cold, potato es in the potato salad were under cooked and too hard. Overall everything lacked flavor. Disappointed and won't be coming back. Head to the Midwest, Texas, or South Carolina for real BBQ. Heck, even Bucky's gas station BBQ is better
First time here, ordered a full rack of baby back pork ribs and was disappointed. Instead of a full rack, I was given 4 less desired end sections (these parts overcook easily) of other racks and only a 2 center bones to make it seem like a "full rack" (see the cuts in pic). Sides and sausage were good though. Service was great. I've had a ton of notable BBQ all over the country (Texas, Memphis, Carolinas, KC) and, despite the hype, these ribs don't stack up so I don't recommend
I really wanted to love this place, but it was a pretty mixed experience. The BBQ ribs were actually really good — tender and full of flavor. Unfortunately, that’s about where the good part ended. The ribless meat was dry and just didn’t have much taste. On top of that, everything came out lukewarm at best, which really took away from the meal. The baked potatoes were the biggest letdown; undercooked, hard, and so cold they couldn’t even melt the butter. For what I paid, I expected hot, properly cooked food across the board. The ribs might get me to give it one more try someday, but overall, the quality and temperature of the food really need some work.
Kids liked the boneless ribs. The link/sausage was mediocre at best (i even had a piece of bone in mine). Hamburger looked good. My side house salad sucked. It was plain lettuce with a tomato cut up on top. Nothing else. Overall it was over priced. The sides are over priced and have to be purchased separately. Far cry from a real Texas BBQ restaurant. I’d recommend going to Texas Roadhouse for a lot better quality and price. Live and learn.
I went for lunch and got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich to share with my husband. The bun was a bit burnt, and the BBQ sauce on the meat was a bit sparse, so the sandwich was a tad dry. The tables didn’t have any BBQ sauce, just ketchup, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and a bottle of malt vinegar—I’m not a fan of vinegar. The onion rings weren’t my favorite either. However, the coleslaw was really good. The service was quick and efficient.
Some of the worst food I have ever had. This is gas station quality food here. Fries and onion rings burnt badly. The pretzel is deep fried and burnt aswell so it tastes more like a donut than a pret…

My group of 4 decided to give phils a try last thursday night. All 4 of us got sick either shortly after eating here or the following morning. We had eaten nothing else in common prior, as none of us live together. Absolutely wont be coming back here.
This sucks. I have come here since they were tiny. In the early 2000s. I used to visit their first location in the neighborhood of Hillcrest in San Diego. The line used to be out the door and down the street. I have had a lot of great experiences at their different locations over the years. Today was a zero star, though. I live in Phoenix. I drove six hours to get here this morning to see my parents. We arrived at Phil's immediately after they opened at 11 am. We were the 2nd customer of the day. We ordered our food and sat down like every other time. 20 minutes go by, and I notice the man that ordered after us is eating. The couple after him is eating, and the 4-top that ordered after them is just getting their food. I decided to go up and ask where our order was. They claimed it's coming right up. I go back and sit down again. I immediately noticed the 6-top that came in four customers after us is now getting their food. I told my parents to grab their stuff we are leaving. I went up and asked to speak to a manager for a refund. He offers to give me my food in a box because it is supposedly done now. Sure it was. Just like it was "coming right up" before. No thanks. The last thing I need is food that somebody has spit in. Then he proceeds to tell me that he can't give me a refund on the spot. It has to go through corporate. He needs my name, my number, and my email address. Are you serious? Do you need my address too? Are you going to send me a check? Maybe deliver it by horseback? Do you not have a computer system? What a clown show. I walked out without a refund. It's best to walk away from something like that before you end up doing something you will regret. To top it all off, my handicapped father leaves his phone there in our booth. So my Mom has to go back and deal with an unkind arrogant female employee at the front. Congrats on becoming garbage, Phil's. Thanks for the 20+ years of memories.
This was my favorite place to go but recently I been having a bad experience. Today, I finally had enough this is what I paid for unbelievable… everything was burnt sadly I had to throw it out. Money wasted! The onion rings were way too hard to eat and the bones were so dry. Please, stop this from happening this is a shame.
The food is always good and consistent. The Manager though. She is rude to customers and shes rude to coworkers. She should NOT be a Manager.
Dried out pork and the Mac n cheese tasted like velvetta. Not to mention the workers seemed miserable, not a single smile in the whole place. Will not be going to again
Just like the other reviews ordered to go and the food was horrible, ordered multiple plates and everything was dry, the fries where ALL uneditable some even cold to the touch and hard as a rock!, the ribs were mostly bone and the coleslaw sour as if it was spoiled! Im shocked that they would serve food like this to go.
Typically it’s good but today the bbq cheeseburger was super dry and the baked beans were not fresh at all. Update: tried them again and again they failed! There was pieces of shredded meat in the beans. The night crew always sucks. They’re messy and careless and take forever with orders!
Ordered over $200 worth of food and left more then half. Hamburger was burnt, beans had no flavor, beef ribs were decent, the BBQ sauce is..... different not a standout, cornbread was trash. 🤷♂️
I wish zero stars was a option. Whoever is OK with putting this quality of food in a container for to go orders should be fired. $18 for a "1/4" of BBQ chicken and 2 out of what was supposed to be 4 ribs is ridiculous. The picture shows how small the "1/4" was and how badly Burnt the ribs were....... Boiled, flavorless corn.... What ever happened to taking pride in your work...
