Opinions de Nami Japanese Steakhouse Temple
Service was nice, Hibachi was great and the sushi was awesome. We were very surprised how good the sushi was the PD roll was on point. We tried four different kinds they were all good.
Great little spot! The manager, Daniel, is awesome. Super cheerful and nice, and helpful when I had questions. Food was great, service amazing. Highly recommend
Went last night and had the monster roll it was amazing! Angel was our server and took really good care of us and made great drinks!
Was able to have lunch here with a larger group this week. Decor is a little plain and outdated but otherwise it was very clean. Our server was so sweet. Sushi service was super fast, fresh, and good. The rolls were but one get one half off which just made it even better. Hands down one of my favorite sushi places.
Take my wife here all the time. Excellent service and staff. I'd like to call out Angel by name, fantastic person, always makes the experience top notch! Love her!
I just wanted to take a minute to say a HUGE THANK YOU to NAMI'S Temple for feeding the Temple Wildcat this evening. The food was wonderful & I believe that all the boy's enjoyed it! Thank you to the staff that worked during their break to get the food prepared. It was an Awesome event and I will be coming to the restaurant in the near future. Thank you for supporting the Temple Wildcats. We can not say thank you enough. Wildcat Family Circle!!!!! GO CATS!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 15/10 — DJ the Hibachi King deserves a raise AND a throne. Let me be so clear: DJ, the hibachi chef at this spot? ICONIC. Like, I would go back to this restaurant for him alone. He was: • Hilarious • Personable • Ridiculously skilled • Genuinely welcoming • And made us feel comfortable and seen, even in moments when I was lowkey uncomfortable You know how some hibachi chefs go through the motions? DJ was theater. He made dinner feel like a full-on event. He’s the kind of guy that makes you want to come back just to be around his energy again. The food? 🔥 Immaculate. But honestly, I barely noticed the food because DJ was the main course. (And no, I will not apologize for that pun.) ✨ Bonus Shoutout to Mike the Manager We briefly met Mike, the manager, and he was also just… really warm and kind. Great energy. You can tell he cares about the customer experience and runs a good team. If DJ is the frontman of the band, Mike is the laid-back producer in the back making sure everything hits. 😬 The Waitress Tho… Okay… so… service from our waitress was a little weird. • To-go boxes were dropped at the table literally the second the chef walked away • The check came fast—like, aggressively fast • The vibe was “rush and hover,” and while I respect the hustle, the etiquette was just off I tip regardless because, hey, we all have bad days, but it was not the shining example of good waitstaff energy. Still, she’s a footnote—not the headline. 💯 Overall: GO. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely. But make sure you ask if DJ’s working that night. Because he is the reason I’ll be back. If the restaurant is smart, they’ll give that man a raise, a plaque, a company car, and a loyalty program where you get a free meal every 10 times you high-five him.
We had dinner Friday and had Shane as our chef. He is probably the best that we have had at any of the locations. He is such a pleasant guy that has great vibes, and is comfortable behind the grill. This all comes through in the taste of his food! We had a wonderful waitress that brought us everything we needed promptly before we could ask. I did not catch her name, but I hope she gets a pat on the back as well! Angel is doing such a great job and is just the sweetest. This shows in her staff. Thank yall for a wonderful dinner!
What a wonderful experience!!! This has been my first Nami's experience and it was wonderful. From the happy and charming staff to the delicious food. Y'all are definitely doing it right! Today I ordered the Monster Roll and the Rock and Roll and they were a blast. It was a delight getting to watch the sushi master slice and prepare the rolls! You could definitely taste the skill and dedication put into the sushi. Will definitely be back! Philip (my server) was awesome! Very attentive, knowledgeable, and willing to search out the answer to any and all of my inquiries! 🙂
This delightful restaurant sits right in the heart of downtown Temple. On weekdays for lunch, it is relatively quiet. A variety of seating is available for all sizes of groups. Up to ten people can sit at the hibachi grill. I had the lunch menu Teriyaki Salmon Bento, and it was amazing! The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the tempura was crispy, and the yum yum sauce added an extra zing of flavor. Teagan provided excellent service, checking on us regularly. Delicious! Highly recommend!
Pleasantly surprised! I had heard of the restaurant but had been putting it off, we walked in and were a bit perplexed. We could see a full bar and restaurant area but no hibachi grills, no matter we were there for sushi anyway, but I like to see it all. We had fried calamari for an appetizer, it looked like it was a little over cooked, but once in my mouth total different story! the batter was slightly sweet and the calamari was very tender...yum! We had some sushi as well (I checked out the bar first to make sure everything was fresh and smelled good) that was really good. There seemed to be a lot of noise coming out of the back and I was like wow they sure have a boisterous staff. It wasn't when I went to the restroom I found that it was actually the hibachi side of the restaurant. Now we will have to go back and have some hibachi and see if that is as good as the sushi.
Really nice place friendly people took about an hour to get our food I have a chicken hibachi the chicken way over donethe beer warm the cheesecake was fantastic my girlfriend or the left Hotel shrimp and garlic hibachi shrimp what will cook the lobster tail will overcook garlic with this right rice with fantastic and veggies I'm headed to work asked for and I can see it is a pretty decent restaurant I will go back
Went there for a company function with a large group of ppl. Service was good and speedy. The food came out after a longer wait than normal as it was a large order. I got the hibachi steak with fried rice and steamed vegetables. The pre meal salad and soup were forgettable. The steak was cooked as requested and hot. It was seasoned nicely and tender. It tasted very good. The fried rice was very good but should not be a $3 option. The steamed vegetables were okay. I had sweet tea to drink and it was good. Overall I would recommend the place for a date or celebration event.
Ate at habachi grill. Surf & turf, steak & shrimp were good, as was fried rice. House soup & salad were good. Had the Texas roll, very tasty but a bit on small side. The bacon wrapped shrimp was very good & was special on a Tuesday. Bar tender was very friendly, made our experience more fun. We will be back.
Not a good experience, no fault to our server other than not checking on us more frequently. Took a little over an hour to get our food. Fortunately had good company. I recommend making customers in the resteraunt the priority vs take out and to go orders. We ended up getting it to go which was probably a good thing as my food was no longer warm. Of the 15-16 tables available 7 had customers so not busy at all inside.
I went to the downtown Temple location. It needs a lot of work. When first go in it looks empty. Bar is closed only used for pick up orders. No ambiance what so ever. We asked for a hibachi station. It just feels you are cooped in a house. Service was mid. We had to asked for chop sticks and soy sauce that is served in a little plastic to go container. I started with the rock and roll which it was good and tasty. Then I asked for the stake hibachi, the chef was nice and entertaining. It was good with generous servings. They need to work on decor and ambiance.
Come for the food! The wait was long, but that's cuz they're understaffed. As for the service, our waitress, the previous time we dined, was very pleasant and considerate. The edible art we had: Baked Mussels Miso Soup Harumaki Yellowtail and scallion roll spicy salmon roll Spicy Jazz Roll Rock & Roll I'd like to say more, but in time... We'll see on our next visit. I can comment that it's better here than the one in Killeen.
The “manager” on staff, Angel, was EXTREMELY RUDE and extremely unprofessional. Our server, Tammie (I apologize if the name is spelled wrong) was phenomenal. She updated us constantly on delays and was consistently readily available for our needs. When I expressed the fact we had to wait almost 45 minutes for a table (when we had a reservation), and then wait another 45 minutes for our coo, the manager Angel threatened IN FRONT OF OUR AMAZING SURVER, to write her up!!!!! Not because of the servers fault, but because of the establishment. Who threatens to write up an employee IN FRONT of customers because the establishment messed up?! I’m mortified for our server, who looked like she was ready to cry. And how unprofessional for one of your “managers” to do this. I’m absolutely appalled me and my family paid roughly $300 for a meal with such poor customer service from management. Disgrace. I’ll be calling to see if Angel is working in the future to ensure my family doesn’t spend another $300 with her in the facility. Absolutely disgraceful.
ROACHES!! I’ve been a loyal fan of Nami’s for years. The Monster Roll is a favorite, and we usually stick to sushi. But on 9/15/2025, we chose to celebrate my son’s birthday on the Hibachi side, and I regret it deeply. The food was solid, and our waitress was attentive. But the chef? Zero showmanship. 0/10 on entertainment. He got the birthday wrong multiple times despite being corrected, and the entire experience felt flat and awkward. Still, we tried to focus on the food… until things took a turn. Before we even finished our meal, multiple roaches crawled out from the crevices of the grill table we were seated at. Staff scrambled to trap them under an upside-down bowl. I was nauseated, horrified, and trying not to lose it in front of my family. I had just spent a significant amount of money to end the evening in absolute revulsion. To make matters worse, I was charged for Gyoza that never arrived. But I was so shaken by the infestation, I just signed the check and left. The apology? A casual “we sprayed for roaches” and “sorry.” No gesture of goodwill. No offer to make it right. Just confirmation that yes, they know they have a roach problem. If roaches are crawling out of the grill tables, imagine where else they are. I’m not writing this for compensation...I’m writing this as a warning. We should’ve just gone to Raising Cane’s. It’s what my teen wanted anyway. I've reported them to the city, and we will NEVER be back.
We were the only ones in the restaurant, the food we received were bad-looking and forgot to put an extra we asked for. We sent the dishes back to have the extra we asked for added and they just cut it and put it on our plate. Our waiter was excellent. The managers had a negative and disrespectful attitude. We left and sent the dishes away.
As someone who has worked in restaurants for years, server, support, management, and owner. I’ve never been so astonished at how badly you could handle a bad experience. Dust the food can wrong, then it can me back worse. Like they made the food wrong, (we were the only people in the restaurant) . Then they brought it back with the missing avocado all over the sushi we sent back. Like just chopped up all messy on the plate, on the top of the rolls they made wrong. The dishes were dirty and then, when we said we didn’t want it and were going to go. They chased us down in the parking lot to pay for drinks. The worst dining experience and we didn’t even dine. The server was nice, but in training and like come on? The ownership should be ashamed to have put someone in charge that was going to not handle the situation and then act crazy about it. Makes me concerned if they are that desperate for money, is the food even safe. Glad we didn’t eat anything.
Im sorry but i love the fried rice here but this time I didn’t . There try so much to save the chicken when they only serve 3 pieces of small chicken on one order fried rice . And the rice is soggy like it was left out for a week . The teriyaki sauce was jelly . Which that’s not what I ordered . Something going on with this place … but I ended up throwing away about $15 into the trash. Because food tasted old . I usually love eating here but this time I didn’t . Ps please add more pieces of chicken … not funny you pay good amount of money for fried rice and 3 tiny pieces of chicken.
This place has a lot of potential, however, when we first walked in my husband had mentioned a child crying, I had thought maybe coming from the bathroom but was actually coming from the kitchen. We ordered the Creamy Shrimp as an appetizer, and when it came out the back of them were burnt off. I didn’t even eat one assuming with the holes in the back of them the cream cheese fell out also they didn’t look appealing. The sushi roll I ordered said it came with jalapeños, every time I have ordered sushi it always comes with fresh ingredients, mine did not. It came with pickled jalapeños, which just didn’t give it the right taste. My husband ordered a roll said it was fine, but when his RAMEN came out. The smell, the taste, everything about that ramen was rancid. When our server brought it out I immediately said “what’s that smell” I honestly thought my husband had burped or maybe my breath was starting to stink. No. It was the ramen. It had all these white particles floating around, it was a murky yellow color as well. During the time of his ramen being brought out I also ordered a sea weed salad which was decent, I prefer the ones from heb if I’m being honest. We were both highly disappointed in this place considering how nice it is on the inside. Server was nice. 1 star for her. (Also as someone who loves to cook and has served for 5 years, why were they okay with sending out food like that? The kitchen should’ve said they can’t make it, or the owner/manager should’ve suggested a different option. No one came out and spoke with us about our food or the ramen, our server was taking care of everything. The restaurant was not busy we went on a weekday mid day so no reason he/she couldn’t have spoke with us unless they new it was bad or just did not care.)
Only two of us were trying to eat. It was Friday night around 6:20. Walked in and the place was completely empty. No one was at the bar either. Host told us there would be a wait since we didn’t have a reservation for hibachi. Told us she’d go find out how long it would be. Meanwhile only one woman was at the countertop trying to organize 15+ styrofoam to go boxes for orders. You could tell she was extremely overwhelmed. Then the host that was suppose to be helping us started boxing to go soups all while we were left just standing there waiting. So during this I looked and saw they only had one reservation at 6:30, so it wasn’t like they were about to get a huge rush. Finally after waiting almost ten mins the host came back and told us it would be a 40 min wait. With only one reservation and no one present in the restaurant I figured they are more worried about their online orders then actual face to face customers. We won’t ever be back.
