Food was great, it was pricey yesterday but it was delicious, the hospitality is amazing as if you were in Mexico honestly, the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. Staff was amazing service was 10 out of 10 and the decorations were beautiful including the live music. Absolutely 10 out 10 amd would recommend to anyone!!
Service was very good, we got the salsa and chips and trompito al pastor. Was way more than enough food for my boyfriend and I to share. Best tortillas I’ve ever had!
Absolutely amazing! I saw some mixed reviews but everything we had was delicious. We started with civeche and tamal de elotes. The ceviche was ok 3/5 and the tamal de elotes was a 10/10 delicious! We had drinks which were good a Michelada with a shot of tequila and a margarita. For our meals we had Chicken Mole 12/10, Steak with mole 12/10 and steak enchiladas 9/10. Everything was delicious. But the mole had me leaving wanting more and more. So good. Our waiter was very helpful as it was our first time, he made suggestions on the menu and answered all our questions. The ambiance was casual. Casual attire was ok and didn't not feel out of place. The resturant was a little pricey. Overall I would recommend and would recommend a reservation. We had a reservation but had come before and was unable to be seated because they were very busy.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Sta Xalisco I had a really great experience at this restaurant. The place is very clean, nice, and pleasant overall. I also really liked the bathrooms, which were well maintained—something I always appreciate. It’s a great spot to enjoy cocktails, and they offer a very solid Mexican food menu. The food is prepared with a lot of care and attention to detail. The dishes look beautiful, are very well presented, and feel thoughtfully crafted. I loved that they offer different aguas to enjoy with your meal, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. This restaurant is definitely unique in the way they present their dishes. I had heard about this place a couple of times before but never had the chance to visit until now. This was my first time, and I truly enjoyed it. I’ll be sharing some photos of the dishes ordered at our table because they’re really worth seeing. The service was very kind. Even though there was a bit of disorganization during our visit, the servers were still very attentive, helpful, and always willing to assist, which made the experience a good one. One thing I really want to highlight is the price. For how excellent everything is overall—the food, the presentation, the atmosphere, and the experience—I found it to be very affordable, honestly quite economical. Overall, everything was great, and that’s why I’m happily leaving five stars. I would definitely come back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Second visit to Xalisko and once again, pleasantly surprised! The vibe is upbeat yet cozy, and the service from Salem was outstanding. She helped us pick from so many tempting dishes, and her recommendations were spot on. Our favorites today were the Tacos a la Canasta (so flavorful!) and the sweet potatoes shareable dish, a total must try. For drinks, we went with a refreshing Jamaica and a pepino limón, both hit the spot perfectly. Can’t wait to come back again
I visited with a party of seven last night and we had the pleasure of being served by Oscar — a truly outstanding experience from start to finish. It was our first time dining here, and we were thoroughly impressed. Oscar took the time to explain each dish in such vivid detail that we could practically envision its presentation and flavor before ordering. He also recommended drinks from the bar, which did not disappoint — compliments to the bartender for crafting such excellent cocktails. The food was exceptional, with flavors that captured the essence of authentic Mexican cuisine. Kudos to the kitchen staff for their skill and attention to detail. The service was equally impressive; Oscar consistently checked on our table despite the restaurant being busy. We also had another attentive staff member made sure our water glasses were always full and cleared our plates promptly. I highly recommend this restaurant and encourage anyone visiting to ask for Oscar as their server. He’s incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and patient — especially helpful if it’s your first time exploring the menu.
My New Favorite Authentic Mexican Spot in The Woodlands I finally made it to Xalisko Mexican Cuisine in The Woodlands this past weekend, and I am already planning my next visit. From start to finish, the experience was absolutely fantastic. First, the atmosphere is wonderful. The restaurant is bright, clean, and beautifully decorated with vibrant colors and cultural touches that make it feel warm and authentic, not like a chain restaurant. We sat on the patio, which was perfect for a Texas evening. Now, the food… where do I even begin? We started with the Queso Fundido, which arrived bubbling hot and loaded with flavorful chorizo. For my main course, I took our fantastic server's recommendation — Alonso —and ordered the Lamb shank and Enchiladas. It was incredible. It was not only a feast for the eyes but also one of the most authentic and delicious dishes I’ve had outside of Mexico itself. My wife had the Enchiladas Verde, and she wouldn't stop raving about the perfect tanginess of the salsa. The service was impeccable. Our server Alonso was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. The Guava Mezcalita was strong and fresh, definitely ranking among the best in the area. My corona familia was cold and fresh. I’m not alone in this high praise. I always like to check reviews after I visit a place to see if my experience matches up, and it certainly does. Xalisko holds an impressive 4.5-star rating on Google from over 1,000 reviews and a 4.5-star rating on Yelp with hundreds more. People consistently praise the authenticity, the generous portions, and the quality of the ingredients. This isn’t your standard Tex-Mex; it’s a true taste of Mexican culinary tradition. Xalisko has instantly become my go-to recommendation for anyone looking for an amazing Mexican meal in The Woodlands.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What can I say — this place has authentic Mexican food! The handmade tortillas and trompo tacos were incredible. Even the kids’ soup was packed with flavor. The freshly squeezed orange juice and cucumber water were so refreshing. Every dish we tried was delicious. We went for brunch on a Sunday and had no wait. Excellent food, friendly service, and great atmosphere — highly recommend!
This place is amazing! The food is truly authentic Mexican full of flavor and perfectly made. The al pastor was hands down the best I’ve ever had, juicy and packed with that classic smoky taste. The handmade tortillas took everything to the next level you can really taste the freshness. The drinks were great, and the service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to and recommending to everyone!
Just visited for the first time w/ my lady. Ambiance and decor were on point. Tamal con Elote appetizer is very popular and was recommended and it did not disappoint. Also had a vegetarian quesadilla that was amazing. For entrees, I had the birria red snapper dish and my gf had a birria dish that came presented bone in. Both were phenomenal. She enjoyed her two margaritas. We will definitely be back for more date nights. Thank you, Sulem, for the great service and recommendations.
⭐ Xalisko Mexican Restaurant – Woodlands, Texas ⭐ First time visiting with the family, and Xalisko did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, lively, and authentic — the kind of spot where you can tell the food is made with pride. We started with the ceviche, and it was fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor — the kind that instantly wakes up your taste buds. The flautas were crispy and golden with perfectly seasoned meat inside, and the tacos were just as impressive, each one loaded with rich flavor and cooked just right. One of the highlights was their rendition of charro beans — honestly one of the best I’ve had. Savory, bold, and full of depth, it tasted like something your abuela would make from scratch. Service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and fast without making us feel rushed. It was our first time here, but it felt like a place we’d been coming to for years. If you’re in The Woodlands, Texas and want a spot with great energy, amazing food, and true Mexican flavor, Xalisko is a must-try. Already looking forward to coming back with the family.
Had my birthday dinner last night. I’ll begin with the pros and end with cons. The food was spectacular. It truly felt like eating a meal prepared by grandma who cooked her absolute best recipes with love for her grandchild’s wedding! We had octopus, snapper, tostada chips with various salsas, aguachiles, pan de los muertos, and tamal. Lupe, our server was wonderful. Not only did we love the great food, but also the dinning experience. From the fine powder flaky salt grinder, to the server pouring our beer, the service with a smile etc…the little details make a HUGE impact. I felt as if we were actually dining out in Mexico. Now the con: unfortunately dinner had to come to an end and we had to go home! I’m so happy this is where I had my birthday dinner! A MUST repeat!
Wow! I had the Chamorro de Perco Al Pibil (lamb shanks) and it was incredibly tender, falling apart so easily, spicy and flavorful! My wife had the Emoladas, and I tried them. They were great, too! She also had a delicious and potent margarita! We were there with friends who also enjoyed their plates, and even the people at the next table were going on about the how wonderful the experience was. Our waiter was also pleasant, funny, and professional. The perfect experience!
We had dinner on Friday evening and enjoyed brunch on Saturday late morning. The restaurant overall is very comfortable and inviting. I love the unique decor. The service is top notch. Everyone is so polite, encouraging, and kind. The food is amazing. The flavors are....wow. The sauces that come on the side are very flavorfilled and may be too spicy hot for those that have a tender tongue, so make sure you try before pouring over all your food. 😄 We made reservations for both dinner and brunch and we are so glad we did. The restaurant fills up quick.
If you're craving authentic Mexican food in Houston, look no further than Xalisco Restaurant. Amidst a sea of Tex-Mex options, Xalisco stands out for its unique flavors, beautiful presentation, and traditional dishes. The drinks and food are truly exceptional every bite and sip transports you to the heart of Mexico. As someone who's never been to Xalisco, this restaurant has sparked a desire to visit. I'm eager to return and try more of their offerings. Bonus: I heard they feature live Mariachi music on Friday and Saturday nights!
We had a 5 star experience here for Houston Restaurant Weeks! We loved the menu options and they also had special cocktails for HRW that did not disappoint!! The food was literally so delicious I have been raving about it! Our server was excellent and very patient with us as we had our 2yo with us (she loved the Fideo on the kids menu) and I appreciated that the restaurant was kid-friendly! We already can't wait to come back and try the regular menu!
Great place, the food was delicious and very creative. Very clean, the staff were very polite. We will definitely go back.

The food was delicious, but most of the platters were a little light on flavor. We tried a bunch of different platters, which honestly is the best way to try everything. - TACOS CAMPESINOS had a cheesy grilled skirt steak with mozzarella, cactus salad, and mamá coco sauce. - PAPAS ENCHILADAS ZAMORANAS tasted great, especially the adobo sauce, but it could’ve used a bit more salt. - ENSALADA DE NOPALES was one of our favorite sharable dishes — the nopales were soft and really tasty. - TROMPITO AL PASTOR is a platter you can share with about 3 people. It was on the lighter side flavor‑wise, so it could’ve used a little more, but overall it was still delicious. - ENMOLADAS had a sour taste, so the flavor leaned sour. I did like the two moles — mole de rancho and mole prieto — but the flavor profile could’ve been better. - The drinks were great; every drink had flavor and tasted really good.
I absolutely love Xalisco! This place has become one of my go-to spots in The Woodlands for amazing, authentic Mexican food. The food here is seriously one of the best I’ve had — super flavorful, juicy, and made with fresh ingredients. Their salsas have the perfect balance of heat and flavor. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and service is quick even when it’s busy. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and has a nice local vibe. You can tell they really care about quality. Highly recommend stopping by — you won’t regret it!

The atmosphere is fantastic but the food was disappointing. I thought it was good, not great. The ceviche xalisqillo shrimp and red snapper was really good, full of flavor. The Aguachile de Ribeye was lacking flavor and it was cold.

Went here today. before hand, I called to ask certain questions about the menu. There was a gentleman with a flamboyant voice on the other side with an attitude so I didnt get my questions answered. Decided to give it a try anyway. The service after that was actually great. We had the aguachile as a starter. It was delicious. For our entrees we tried the octopus trompo. For a $100 entree I was hoping for perfectly cooked octopus but it failed miserably. The only char the octopus had was from the table side flambe. So the octopus was soft but tasted like it wasn't cooked all thw way. The pineapple on the trompo was also undercooked bc it didnt cook with a 20 second flame. It was very disappointing. The sides that came with the octopus were delicious. I asked for them to throw the octopus on the grill for extra cooking time and they said they would but I was disappointed when they brought back the octopus and said they had placed it in the oven. That over cooked the octopus and did not add any char or cooking for the sauce on the outside. The other entree we got was the birria tatemada. The meat was so tender and the flavor of the broth was great, however I would've liked some cilantro and onion with it. I've never been served birria without onions and cilantro before. The alcoholic drinks were good but nothing mind blowing. The environment was loud with music. But the food was disappointing. I've had way better food for half the price. I'd rather go to mariscos el general for octopus and aguachile for a fraction of the price and perfectly cooked food.
