Frida is officially in my happy hour rotation! I went with my girlfriend and we had a great time. The Cadillac margaritas were really good, smooth and strong without being too sweet. The tequila shots were solid too. The bartending staff was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The noise level was moderate and the ambiance was just right for relaxing and enjoying the night. I was honestly surprised to see vegan tacos on the happy hour menu. I got the cauliflower taco and the black bean taco and both were excellent. Crunchy, flavorful, and actually filling. My best friend had the ceviche tostada and said it was delicious. Overall, it is a great happy hour spot with good drinks, good food, and a fun vibe. I will definitely be going back.
Frank the waiter is always super kind when going the cantaritos are fire & food always good 👍
We came to Frida Mexican Restaurant during happy hour and had a great time! We ordered drinks and food from the happy hour menu, and everything was delicious and well worth it. The drinks were refreshing, the food was flavorful, and the portions were perfect for sharing. It was a relaxed vibe and a great spot to unwind. Definitely a good choice for happy hour—we’ll be back!
Excellent place to eat, drink 🍸 ,and celebrate with family and friends life. From the employee who prepare your omelets, tacos, sopes and more are very courteous the waiter Emily and Jorge in the Bar. Excellent customer service. The Mariachi is the cherry on top of the cake. Thank you 🙏
Delicious Mexican food in an upscale classy setting. When first entering the restaurant, we immediately noticed how beautifully it was designed; Modern, classy and bright. The atmosphere truly set the vibe for our dinner. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We ordered the table side guacamole and it was delicious, would recommend! We were all pleased with what we ordered. The dishes are masterfully crafted. The chicken mole was a touch dry but had exceptional flavor. The ceviche was fresh and tasted great. This was our first time here but we’ll certainly be back again.
My first time here. We experienced the Sunday brunch all you can eat buffet and my the service was great the musicians were amazing the vibe was perfect this restaurant is my my favorite now. The food was great so yummy ! The desserts everything about it. The atmosphere is fresh and calming perfect for my 35 th birthday celebration they really made me feel so special ♥️🙏 thank you again amazing staff every one was so attentive and nice.
This was my first time dining at Frida Mexican Cuisine in Torrance, and I’m already planning my return visit! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, with beautiful décor that felt both upscale and authentically Mexican. But what truly made our experience unforgettable was our incredible server, Frank. Frank was absolutely phenomenal! Friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He took the time to walk us through the different dishes and explain what made them special. We were a bit overwhelmed by all the delicious-sounding options, but Frank’s recommendations were spot on. He clearly has a passion for the food and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our experience. Now let me talk about the drinks! I ordered the Adelita Margarita and ended up ordering it twice because it was that good. It had the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and smooth, with a fresh citrus flavor that made it dangerously easy to sip. Highly recommend it if you like a refreshing and well-crafted cocktail! Overall, the food, drinks, ambiance, and especially Frank’s top-tier service made this a standout experience. If you’re in the South Bay and looking for amazing Mexican food with a touch of elegance and hospitality that goes above and beyond, Frida in Torrance is a must visit. Fingers crossed I get Frank again next time!
I enjoyed the food here. The service was good, it could have been executed a little better but we were a large party so I have to give some leeway. The cocktails were good, the guacamole was delicious as well. I enjoyed the cocktail & aguachile dishes. You can't go wrong with seafood. Only thing I would change is cutting the cucumber in a diced form instead of the large slices. It was a little difficult to eat. I understand thats how they placed the shrimp on top, but it wasn't easy to eat without disassembling it. Clean bathrooms, nice patio, all and all I was impressed.
Frida Mexican Cuisine is really good food in an amazing environment. The ambiance is fantastic. The chips and salsa was a 4 out of 5. The fajitas was a 4 out of 5. The carnival taco was a 5 out of 5. The margarita was a 4 out of 5. Overall, it was a good experience. I recommend visiting.
We came here for lunch. Our server was very friendly with a nice smile each time she came by to check on us. They have a lunch menu with a decent amount of food for the price. I also liked that they have a vegetarian section. I had the Taco Vegano Baja. It was pretty good. The complimentary chips came with two sauces. The red one had a good depth of flavor.
My experience at Frida Mexican Restaurant in Del Amo Mall started off strong. I have to say, the service was great, and the atmosphere was genuinely lovely. Unfortunately, while the service and ambiance were on point, the food just wasn't good, at least mine wasn't. I ordered the Consommé de Pollo, which was 3 stars at best. It severely lacked depth of flavor. We were dining only an hour after they opened, so perhaps the flavors hadn't had enough time to simmer and cook. Honestly, it tasted more like it came from a can than an authentically homemade soup. We also tried the tableside guacamole. While it was a nice presentation, the flavors were unbalanced and it lacked much needed salt. The main disappointment was the taco tasting I ordered. The carne asada was probably the best taco of the bunch, but even it lacked something. The chicken was very bland. The al pastor was overpowered by too much chunky pineapple, making the taco overly sweet instead of savory. The carnitas was just okay, and the cochinita pibil was so greasy and oily that it was off-putting. As for the sides, the rice was delicious, but the refried beans were dry. It's worth noting that the rest of our group seemed to enjoy their meals, so my experience might have been an exception. I've only heard great things about this spot, so maybe it was just an off day for the chefs. However, I was completely disappointed, especially considering how expensive it is. Based on my meal, I would not recommend it.
Nice place but the food overall was not okay. The chips and salsa that came were not good. The chips had no flavor, and the 2 kinds of salsa were very watery. I ordered 3 chicken enchiladas, something else with absolutely no flavor. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade, and it tasted disgusting. The waitress was really sweet, and the ambiance was nice but those are the only positive things about this place. If you want Mexican food, go somewhere else.
I recently visited Frida’s Restaurant, and overall, my experience was decent. The food was tasty, but nothing that really stood out as exceptional. I had the ribeye tacos, which were just okay—simple and could definitely be improved. However, I would recommend the fajitas, as they were a better option. I also tried a few mezcal drinks, and while they were decent, I was expecting bolder flavors. The best one I had was the Frida & Diego—definitely the standout among the ones I tried. Service was great, and the atmosphere was relaxed, but I was surprised that it wasn’t busy on a Saturday evening. I expected it to be more lively, but it was actually quite empty. Overall, I’d say Frida’s is a good spot with potential, but there’s room for improvement in both the food and drinks. If you go, I’d recommend the fajitas and the Frida & Diego mezcal cocktail.
Our server Frank was great. I really enjoyed the plantain and guacamole. The chips were fresh. The decor was nice. The lighting was dark in the evening. It’s not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had but it was okay. I didn’t like the rice. Here’s what we ordered 👇🏾 🔶 Tacos De Langosta. $32 🔷 GUACAMOLE EN MOLCAJETE Frida’s favorite! Fresh avocado mixed with onions, jalapeño chile, tomato, cilantro and fresh lime juice. Prepared Tableside. $19 🔶 MOLE NEGRO* Chicken simmered in a black Oaxacan-chocolate sauce. Served with white rice, refried beans, fried plantain and fresh handmade corn tortillas. $32 🔷 TACO VEGANO BAJA Battered cauliflower, cabbage, roasted salsa, pico de gallo and avocado. $21 🔶 Margarita At the time of posting, I’ve dined here once on February 21,2025.
I’ve been to Frida way too many times. And I think I know what to expect here, and also give you an honest opinion of the place. The food here is good, some dishes can be better. I guess it’ll depend on what you order. My favorite dish so far are the tacos norteños, they’re some of the most delicious tacos I’ve ever tried. Trust me, I know tacos. The chicken soup (consomé de pollo) is absolutely the best, it’s like they have abuelita in the back preparing it. You can’t go wrong with their enchiladas, or flautas. The torre de mariscos is perfection. And the salmon a la diabla is also a good one. Now, the ones that are not as great in my opinion, the tortilla soup is not that great, fish tacos have no seasoning, the milanesa de pollo was awful (extremely salty, i couldn’t eat it), the ceviche tasting was only okay, the aguachile was not good. I have to say that as far as I can tell all of their food is authentic Mexican food, something that is appreciated. Now let’s talk about the service. Overall they have good customer service, of all the times we’ve been there, only a couple of times the service wasn’t good. One of those times was just plain bad. The waiter was rude, and I could tell he got mad when I asked if he could take the food back to keep it warm. For context, we had just been served our soups, we had just started eating; and he brought the main dishes out right away. We were eating in the patio area. So I guess the common sense would it have been to bring those dishes out, once we were about done with our soup, at least that’s been my experience everywhere I go. The waiter gave me an attitude. But hey, I don’t want to eat cold food. But like I say most of the time the service has been pretty good. I’ve been there during dinner time on weekends. No waiting time to be seated, however; if you don’t have a reservation you will be seated by the bar area. The restaurant is a good Mexican restaurant overall. I’m adding pictures of the menu if you want to see their prices. They share parking with the Del Amo mall, so it’s challenging to find a spot during the weekends. Oh and their drinks are great.
The food is pretty good so why the Rating you ask. The portions are tiny. I ordered a Chile relleno plate that was $25. For a single poblano peppe, scoop of beans and rice. Secondly, the guacamole. It's what they're known for but for just under $20... yeah what a joke. Finally, we asked for a side of sour cream. A small little cup with a dollop came to us and when we got the bill a $4.95 charge for side of sour cream. A dollop was more than the Horchata we had which btw was delicious. The server was rarely seen. Only there to bring food and take it away. Some other waiter hit is head on the trees in the courtyard seating spilling food everywhere and didn't apologize when it splashed on guests. The nicest part was the atmosphere but it's all for show when you're paying that much for lousy service and high prices. Won't be back even for the $15 happy hour margaritas.
It was my 60th birthday, first time dining. I had my family with me. The local is very modern and warm. The fight was on in the bar. We had a really great seat with a beautiful view. There's a fireplace and outdoor setting. The part that ruined it for me was when the server, during taking our order, said to me that we had already ordered too much food already. I considered leaving ,but it was recommended to us. The food was great, and when done, we left without allowing them to sing Happy Birthday. In closing, what gives a server the right to speak in that manner, ever!
