First time.coming down to this one. Usually hit up the one in Little Japantown. The soup here tastes just as good! Only gripe... Not nearly as many of the tempura options or musibis like Sawtelle. But they do have the main dishes here and it was fast on a Friday night to order. This place is bus your own dishes after.
Delicious curry udon. It was a hearty meal and I loved the tempura sides that were available. The service was quick and the whole dining experience was great! Definitely coming back.
We had lunch at Marugame Udon in Torrance and our kids absolutely loved the food. We ordered Shrimp Tempura, Zucchini Tempura, Big Chicken Katsu, Gyudon, Nikutama Udon, and Creamy Broth Udon—everything was fresh and flavorful. My wife likes the smart and efficient setup: order, choose your items, pick up, and pay. There’s a central station for water, napkins, and utensils, which makes things easy and self-serve. After dining, you simply return your tray and trash to the designated area. The staff were actively cleaning the floor and tables, keeping the space tidy and welcoming. We will definitely return if we are in this area.
OBSESSED with this Japanese restaurant - our weekend ritual! Highlights: · *Food prepared fresh in front of you* - love the experience! · *Must-try dishes:* Nikutama and beef are OUR favorites, but tempura is also amazing! Calamansi juice hits the spot every time! FREE parking and beautiful outdoor seating area - perfect for family nights. They have kids play ground outside. We're regulars here for a reason - delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly service! Highly recommended!
We just came back from Japan and was missing curry udon. It’s good and it’s a lot of food but curry wasn’t what we were expecting and it was sweet. It was a brown base curry and the one we like in Japan was yellow and it was a dipping soup so we did the noodles on the side. The tonkotsu was really good! It was a big restaurant and has a lot of seating so it was nice and a playground right outside for the kids. We also had a knotted noddle, maybe it’s good luck ;) Overall, it was a nice experience and would come back again. We been to the South coast location and it’s also nice but smaller.
The fresh assortment of tempura is so delicious! The squid especially, was very flavorful and had the perfect texture. The udon broth is also very good!
The yummiest udon ever. I've been going for a while but keep eating the udon before taking a picture 😭. But I finally remembered!
We were in the mood for udon. The new place off Torrance and Hawthorne is a gem. It's a counter service style, where you order first, then take your order home or to your choice of tables inside or outside. You can order ahead to eat in or for pick up. We chose pick up, and they were exactly on time. Our food came in separate containers, so the noodles wouldn't get soggy on the way home. Efficient!
Their KAKE is so amazing! One bite and It tastes like a piece of heaven. I would come again every day. You should come by and try their menu.

I absolutely love this place. Marugame Udon is delicious, fresh and affordable. The only thing I'd change is that it isnt comfy but guess what. Me who rarely goes tp a place with not the best seating and ambience goes with excitement. The staff is wonderful and if you go after 3 there is almost no kne there and it is my favorite time to go between the usual mealtime. No wait and ample seating. Parking and even so.e outdoor seating and a cute area for kids to play. As for the food, I always get the beef and at least one tempura sweet potato. If im splurging I load up on the shrimp tempura some gyoza and other assorted goodies. Oh and add the hard boiled egg to your Udon. I dump the leftover tempura dipping save into my bowl. I always get the large and I always have enough for the next day lunch. If you are visiting friends or family at Little company hospital it is an easy walk across the street and you do t have to lose your parking spot. Wonderful wonderdul place. Im an island girl and KNOW yummy UDON and Marugame Udon delivers. I love it.
Good noods. The noods at the hawaii location are much more softer than this location. Order your bowl with the seasoned egg. The calamansi juice is good as well.
My daughter was feeling sick and I asked her if she wanted ramen or udon noodles, which is her favorite. She opted for udon and I was super stoked to find Marugame Udon located in Torrance. Like when did they open this new location? Found out they opened two years ago, so still fairly new. My first time experiencing Marugame Udon was at their original location in Waikiki, Hawaii. It’s almost like an udon version of Chipotle. Lol. We ordered our food online for pick up and it was ready quicker than anticipated. Love this option as it’s super convenient ordered our food for pick up at 5:15 PM and it was ready at 5:05 PM. Arrived at the location, which is located in the Hannam Chain Supermarket Plaza in the corner. The spot was spacious and very clean. Typically, you can go up to the counter and order: 1. Choose your noodles. 2. Choose your tempura. 3. Choose your drink. 4. Pay at the cashier. 5. Customize your toppings. 6. Enjoy. Our order was ready at the takeout pick up area next to the cashier. There is also an area to grab utensils and sauces/toppings. The takeout containers kept the noodles separate from the broth, so the noodles were not soggy. Smart. I will say there was minimal beef broth, and curry sauce and wish there was a little bit more. My daughter ordered the beef udon which was quite delicious. The caramelized onions added a nice hint of sweetness to be udon dish. I got the curry udon and added fresh vegetables to my order and as usual the curry was tasty but didn’t have enough sauce. I actually ended up adding some chicken broth to lighten the curry sauce and it was perfect. All in all, the udon noodles are always fresh and the flavors are done well. Love me some Marugame Udon!
Your basic Nikutama Udon bowl (regular or large sizes) comes w soft chewy udon, a soft egg, beef shavings w onions, a scoop of green onions and a scoop of tempura flakes in a tasty broth $13.29. Pretty decent and filling. I added a shrimp tempura for $2.25 - it was crispy, a little oily but still good. Added a refreshing calamansi drink for $3.50. There is outdoor seating and ample indoor tables, and lively music. The only thing that needs attention is the table I was at needed a proper wipe down at the edges where most of the splurping juices were scattered.
I guess I’m not much of an udon enthusiast, but the udon in this place is good and executed competently. The flavors are subtle and consist of interesting ingredients. My benchmark for a good Japanese place is the tempura and their tempura is a little greasy and not the flaky crispy standard that I hoped.
It’s chic place for udon. We tried -vegan miso udon with tempura and fresh veggies. The broth was awesome. came with Cajun fries, delicious. Great ambience, nice staff, fun eating here. Must try
As you walk in, queue in the line to the left if you plan to dine in or enter your order to go at the kiosk to the right if you are taking out. It's been extremely busy after the grand opening but they seem to be able to keep up with the crowds. While the noodles were excellent, their tempura left much to be desired. The zucchini was soggy, cold and not worth eating by the time they got to the table. Overall, the food quality is good and I'm sure their quality control will get better with time. Reduced stars due to: Unfortunately, the manager seemed to be caving to the pressure of being so busy. He was extremely rude to people sitting at the tables when members in their party were bringing over their trays of food. Even as there were multiple tables open , as I approached my wife with our food, he insisted that she get it from the table even though I was 20 ft away. He likewise treated elderly people the same. While I appreciated that he was trying to keep tables turning over quickly so there was seating for everyone, there was no need to be rude or to harass customers that are getting their first impression of this place.
Marugame Udon is a Japanese fast-food chain restaurant. The Torrance branch is spacious with a high ceiling. Kitchen staff is friendly and efficient. Lunch can be finished within 30minutes. Food is reasonably priced and of great quality. Highly recommend the popular Nikutama (USD 12.55/Regular; USD 13.95/Large)! While the freshly made udon is al dente, the onzen egg is silky smooth!
I went there for the first time. I chose a reasonably priced kake udon and added three pieces of tempura. I think it was around $15 in total. Since I went around 3:30 PM, the restaurant was not crowded. I felt that it would be better if there were more varieties of tempura.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Beef with Dashi Broth and Tonkatsu with Pork Broth. Simple ingredients that are cooked well for a tasty meal. The beef is the same as the gyudon so it is slightly on the sweeter and more oily side. It works great on rice but not our favorite on a broth. The tonkatsu is creamy and much heavier than it looks so quite filling overall. Service: 5/5 - very quick service. You order at the counter and they assemble your food immediately with options of green onion and fried tempura pieces. You’re also able to select additional tempura items before you pay at the cashier. Love that you can see and make your selections on the spot. Ambiance: 5/5 - restaurant is spacious and clean which felt much better than the mall food court location. Value for price: 4/5 - we really enjoyed udon in Japan and while it is still really delicious here, the price point makes it hard to justify eating out when the Asian market sells all the pieces at a quarter of the price and we just have to heat the noodles.

The atmosphere, seating outside and inside plenty of seating, decor is basic, the tables in side were sticky check the photos. The ordering was like chipotle/subway they build your bowl of noodles in front of you and you pick your own tempura/katsu then you pay. The broth for their no. 1 was too sweet for me I had to pay for a different broth that was more savory which was better. The udon was overdone and would break and splash broth all around. I got a shrimp tempura it was well executed. Over all a lack luster experience.

When this place opened, our family loved coming here. However, they now have smaller portions and no longer have their good tonkatsu, yet prices are the same. Food is pretty good, but it feels like we're getting cheated.
